Get away from it all and relax in the peace and tranquility of Anna's Cottage. A self-contained, cosy, bolthole in the quiet, friendly hamlet of Preston under Scar, Wensleydale. A small rockery area with bench, plus stunning walks and views just 2 minutes from the cottage and its environs. Castles, market towns and country pubs are a short drive from the village. Comfortable sitting room/diner/kitchenette, double bedroom, en-suite shower. Mobile reception is patchy in the Dales. No Wi-Fi.
Totally self-contained, Anna's Cottage is an integral part of this traditional Dales stone house. Your own front door leads to a hallway for storing coats and boots. The living area has an HD TV with Free Sat, and a flame effect electric fire, sited in the original Dent marble fireplace. The dining area contains a pine table and chairs and a window seat. The small kitchen has a fridge, combo-microwave and two ring hotplate. Fire regulations prevent the inclusion of a full size cooker. The pine staircase leads to an airy bedroom with double bed, window seat and wardrobe. There is an en-suite shower room with electric shower, toiletries and plenty of fluffy towels.
Preston under Scar is a small welcoming hamlet 800 feet above sea-level on a southern slope overlooking Wensleydale. A short walk from the cottage will offer magnificent views. There are numerous public footpaths offering walks in woodland, open countryside and moorland that start in and around the village for visitors to enjoy. Anna's Cottage is on a no-through road, leading to a farm track. There are two good pubs within three miles and an excellent choice of shops and restaurants in the nearby market town of Leyburn.
  • Well appointed cottage in the dales. I was travelling to watch professional cycling and to ride some of the famous climbs in the area. Cottage was a fabulous base for this sort of silliness - close to Tan Hill, Buttertubs, Oxnop Scar, etc. Really comfortable, warm, well appointed cottage in tiny village. If I had 1 (very tiny) moan it would be that there is no mobile reception or wifi. Other than that Anna (and all of the villagers) were very friendly and welcoming

    Michael2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Anna’s Cottage is a perfect retreat for a couple wanting a get a way from the hustle and bustle. The cottage is warm and comfortable and Anna is an amazing host , nothing was too much trouble and the extra touches of fresh milk eggs extra were appreciated . We will definitely be back to Preston-under-Scar one way or another

    Hayden2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, cosy cottage. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you!

    David2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Anna's Cottage is in a beautiful and quiet location, and although there for a few short days only, we found it a great base for exploring Wensleydale. There are a number of attractions close by, not least Redmire station for the Wensleydale railway, and Castle Bolton and Aysgarth falls just a little further away. The cottage itself is cosy and well equipped and Anna was generous with essentials and extra treats on our arrival - not least home baked cake waiting for us. We have it firmly on our list of AirBnB's we would like to go back to and are pleased to recommend it to others. Thanks, Anna - hope to see you again.

    Andy2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Anna's Cottage is beautiful. Myself and my friend took a few days away from the city to visit Wensleydale and the visiting area, and we wished we could have stayed longer! The cottage itself was lovely and clean, with tea and home made cake waiting for us upon arrival from Anna which was an especially nice touch! The heating was on for us, and there was plenty of breakfast options in the fridge too. The whole place was very clean and cosy, with everything we could need. We also arrived on the weekend of the Preston Under Scar feast, which was a lovely opportunity to partake of a street BBQ, cake and drinks, and meet with the super nice locals. Anna was very attentive, friendly and gave us great local tips. She was very accommodating without being overbearing, letting us know she was there if we needed her, but also giving us our own space. All in all, we had a lovely time and will definitely stay again. Would highly recommend Anna's cottage!

    Heather2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Very homely, all you need to ensure you have a comfortable, warm, clean, cute place to stay - and delicious cake waiting for you, along with milk, tea, coffee, eggs, yogurt and orange juice!

    Linda2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic and well supplied cottage. Anna was very helpful and checkin was very easy and flexible. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone who would like a relaxing break in the dales.

    Hannah2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Anna's Cottage is in an excellent location for exploring both Wensleydale and Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. If you are looking for a well appointed, comfortable, compact cottage with one double bedroom, then this is for you. Anna's map on the photo page of the Airbnb website is particularly helpful for locating the property on arrival for the first time.

Half Moon Stable is located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Originally a horse stable, it's now a converted 1 bedroom cottage perfect for a short getaway. Compact and cosy, it's great for an active weekend out in the Dales or a romantic trip where you can truly relax.
One of the only properties available in the area with a hot tub, it's the perfect place to relax after a long day out walking. The garden gets the sun all day, there's also a BBQ and Chiminea for those long summer days. Inside the stable, the kitchen has everything you'll need for your stay - pans, oven proof dishes, utensils, plates, bin liners, washing up liquid etc. There is a fridge with a small freezer compartment at the top. The Nespresso machine is also available for you to use with complementary coffee capsules. Tea and sugar is also provided. The living area has a television with integrated dvd player, and of course WiFi is also available. The bedroom is small and cosy with a built in wardrobe, drawers and double bed including bedding and towels. The bathroom has a standalone shower, toilet and sink. Full information pack will be sent prior to arrival. We're dog friendly as we have two pampered pooches ourselves, so well behaved house trained dogs are more than welcome.
Located in Swaledale, there are lots of walks surrounding Reeth to suit all abilities and also a bike centre where you can hire bikes for the weekend. Reeth itself has all the amenities you'd need - 3 pubs all which serve food, many cafes, Post Office, petrol station, National Park Centre, village store, ice cream parlour, gift shops plus much more. There's a children's park just a stones throw from the stable and plenty of space around for picnics.
  • A great spot right in the heart of Reeth - notably close to the selection of pubs. Would highly recommend staying at Lisa's place.

    Adam2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, gorgeous surroundings perfect for doggies to explore. The Stable was cosy and perfect for the two of us and the dog, and we loved the hot tub!

    Becca2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa’s cottage was perfect for us, the location was ideal for walks and so close to everything local! Lisa was a great host, she replied fast with great advice and help. The cottage had everything we needed and was kept at a great standard - the hot tubs great too!

    Bethany2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Well positioned. Minutes from public footpaths into open fields and the river Swale. Seconds from the pub! Perfect. Well thought out and renovated space. Cosy and warm but with everything we needed to self cater and relax. Faultless. Great comms also and super easy to access.

    Mel2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This small cottage surprisingly has plenty of room and outside space. It was cosy, clean and welcoming with plenty of tips on where to visit. Reeth is a lovely village and an average of a 20 minute drive will bring you to different waterfalls with really good walks. When you're back at the cottage it's nice to get in the hot tub and chill. The perfect little place!

    Francesca2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the stable. Lots of walks right on the doorstep and a few dog friendly pubs in the village. Beautifully decorated and the hottub was an added luxury. Would definitely recommend. Perfect for a couple and dog friendly, bonus! Lisa was very helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had.

Built in 1800, Corner Cottage is in Carperby in the heart of Wensleydale. It is decorated in muted tones and retains key period features, including flagstone and wooden floors; deep window recesses; window seats; a traditional stone larder (which serves as the utility and boot room); and a large stone fireplace with wood burning stove.
An internal porch leads into the kitchen, including a dining area, and to the pantry, then to the living room. Most rooms have wooden shuttered windows. Upstairs, the house bathroom has a roll-top bath and separate shower. The master bedroom is en-suite, with a king-sized bed; and the double bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe. Both rooms and the en-suite have lovely views across to Penhill. The third bedroom – small but beautifully appointed – is ideal for a child or an adult up to 5’ 4” tall. There is a small lobby at the bottom of the stairs, with a back door to the walled garden. The garden – at its most spectacular in June and July – has outdoor seating and a table on the patio, a lawn and two further seating areas. You’re welcome to pick flowers and herbs. A garage, useful for storing bikes, houses a parasol and two barbecues. The cottage is very well-equipped, especially for cooks, including a dishwasher and food processor. Finally, Corner Cottage is an old house. It has 200 year-old features that include a flagstone staircase, so may not be suitable for unsupervised tinies. It also fronts straight onto the road through Carperby, so care must be taken when leaving and entering the house.
Carperby’s existence pre-dates the Norman Conquest. It’s a quiet and friendly village, which hosts concerts and gigs in the Village Institute and an ‘open gardens’ event in July. The pub – The Wheatsheaf Inn – is a real hub of village life which offers great food and friendly service. It also hosted the author of the James Herriot series of novels (on which the television series was based) during his honeymoon.

  • Superbly located within hiking range of more waterfalls than you can shake a stick at - a great position for walkers, with lots of room for boots and coats. An excellent little flat conversion, really warm and comfortable and very neatly put together. Great to come back to after a chilly winter's day walking. We filled out the 2020 RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch sat on the floor peering out the windows and got lots of sightings! Penny was an excellent host, very welcoming and helpful in every way. The local pub is three minutes walk and does very good food and drink.

    Jaimie2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Penny's place is perfect for exploring the Dale's. Everything we could have needed was provided (including her lovely home made bread), and the place was lovely and warm throughout our stay, as well as absolutely spotless. • Very clean, tidy and beautiful barn. Lovely and quiet and close to some wonderful places to walk.

    Matt2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn is a great space to stay for a couple, and it has a small enclosed garden which was great for our Westie. It is in a small village overlooking the valley and it looks South. When the weather was clear we had great sunrises and sunsets. We stayed for a week for a getaway Christmas and it was lovely - warm, very clean and with excellent facilities. There was a lovely gift basket and fresh flowers. Ben and Sue were always on hand to help with any queries. Everyone we met was really friendly and we loved Reeth and Richmond which are the nearest village and town respectively. We would definitely stay there again.

    Fiona2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay. Basics left for us too such as milk, coffee, tea and crisps. Extra special touches such as Prosecco and chocs. Gorgeous clean place to stay and beautiful area.

    Emma2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic space with lovely views from the window and garden. Ben came down to make sure we'd settled in and also before we left, unfortunately we had some car issues and couldn't leave on time but Ben said it was fine and we could stay as long as we needed! Wonderful hosts and little extra touches like the gift basket made our stay very special. 10/10 would recommend!

    Millie2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely cool barn conversion. Comfortable and modern on the inside, with many unique features. It's quiet, clean, warm and with a very well equipped kitchen. An absolutely brilliant place to stay!

    Sarah2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at "The Barn"! Ben was an amazing host who even made the extra effort with our pup, Rick! The cottage had everything you could possibly need and more! All we needed was the food and everything else was provided. The views were spectacular and the amount of work that Ben and Sue must have put into the "Cottage" is apparent! • Christine's place was beautiful and comfortable beyond our expectations. Their welcoming and friendly, open way of being around felt to us like visiting friends! The house is set in a stunning location, it was very easy to travel to and back from the Medieval Festival we were going to, at Castle Bolton and the bedroom was super comfortable, fresh, beautiful. The bathroom was all to ourselves, with showers and bath, tasteful, spacious and comfortable to use. We had towels, two robes in the room, tea and coffee facilities and Christine made us a gorgeous fresh breakfast every morning. We enjoyed the place, we enjoyed them, we loved Dixie their sweet dog who loves biscuits and head a truly heart warming, uplifting time. We would go back anytime and strongly recommend this little gem of a place. Thank you all, Christine! Filo and Eddie

They lit the log burner in 'the snug' so it was warm for when I returned from my evening meal at the local pub. I loved the quirky bottles my fresh milk and fruit juice arrived in. A fantastic place to which I shall hope to return. Thank you.

  • My husband and I loved our stay at the bothy. It was a short but sweet stay. The bothy is well equipped with kitchen amenities. We ate in one night. The wood burner made it super cosy for a night in. The bed was very comfortable with high quality linen. We found the bothy easily and arrived to a beautiful starry night! We enjoyed a couple of walks directly from the bothy along the river to the falls. There are lots of maps available which was super helpful in planning some routes. Thank you Juliet!

Half Moon Cottage is a Grade II listed building, over 300 years old, and was once an old Coaching Inn. It is a charming and comfortable place to stay, centrally located in the market town of Reeth. There are beautiful views from every window out onto the surrounding Yorkshire Dales and over the very pretty village green.
Half Moon Cottage underwent thorough renovations in summer 2018, including redecoration throughout, new carpeting and modernisation of the lighting and heating. We wanted to retain all the charm, beauty and provenance of this old cottage, whilst embracing the comforts and benefits of modern living. Its walls and doorways may be a little crooked in places, but that's why we love the place! It's perfect for couples who are in search of a quiet and romantic getaway, but the spacious interior and facilities also make it an excellent place for groups of friends or families to stay. The kitchen is modern and well equipped for a self-catering holiday. There is an oven and hob, toaster, microwave, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine, fridge and freezer. Coffee is provided. There are plenty of plates, mugs, glasses and cookware. The kitchen / living area is open plan and perfect for preparing relaxed meals, socialising and winding down in the evenings. Seating is at the kitchen counter. In the living room there is an open fire, complete with traditional oven. One of the sofas in the living room converts to a sofa bed (if required). Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms with beautiful countryside views from the windows. The bathroom benefits from a bath and over-bath shower. You may need to use the Boost Button on the water system as the water tank isn’t huge. Please take care on the stairs, both outside and inside, as they can be uneven in places. Access to the front door is on the second storey of the building, up a flight of stone steps. Well behaved dogs are welcome at the cottage, but please do not allow your dog in or on the beds. Please wipe muddy paws after being outside if you can. Dogs are not permitted to be left in the cottage alone at any time, even if crated.
Reeth is a peaceful village with a large green at its centre, where markets and traditional events are often held. There are a number of country pubs within walking distance of the cottage, as well as an ice-cream shop, a bakery and tea rooms. There is a tourist information centre a few steps from the cottage, if you turn right out of the door. There are many stunning walks and trails in the local area, varying in length from gentle strolls along the Swale paths, to day long routes, taking the energetic to the summits of Great Shunner Fell, Lovely seat and Addlebrough. Richmond, Barnard Castle, Leyburn and Hawes are all within half an hours drive, and there is no shortage of eating places in Reeth to enjoy after a long day’s walking or sightseeing.
  • Nice cosy cottage. Excellent location for all the village amenities, lovely walking nearby a great place to visit.

  • We loved our stay. The cottage is gorgeous with amazing views and in a stunning location. Would stay again if in the area!

  • We stayed at the half moon cottage for 2 nights over the weekend and had a lovely time. Great location, with 3 pubs on the door step and a local shop for essentials. The host Gareth was also really helpful and quick to respond to messages.

  • Basic, clean spacious accommodation in a lovely peaceful area. Lovely views and walks. Leyburn was a lovely place. Delicious breakfast at Posthorn tea rooms. Bolton arms very disappointing service. Only one staff member taking food orders and serving drinks. After waiting at least 15 minutes to be served we decided to go elsewhere.

The kitchen is fantastic for cooking at home, which we did a fair bit, as better pubs a little further away. Would certainly visit again.

  • Fantastic property! Stunning setting and great village just a short walk away. If you want to be in the fresh air and in a lovely village to nip around the Dales this is the place to be! Very comfortable stay with lovely beds and a cosy front room with log fire! Sheep and cows out the back to say good morning and good evening too! Who could ask for anything more!

  • My wife and I spent a long weekend with some friends at Nicola’s place. My only criticism would be the photos, while very nice, probably can never really do the place proper justice. It’s a beautiful spot with breathtaking views right on your doorstep. To try and describe the inherent natural beauty would not allow me to do it fairly. The property itself is immaculately well kept and very obviously the care and attention to touches of hospitality are evident from the moment you enter the property. It retains all of the gems and period character of its origins while adapted to meet modern functional home comforts. Nicola was an excellent host; attentive, responsive and helpful in addition to a wealth of reading material in the property to accommodate a variety visitors. With a very quaint village within a couple of minutes walk, there are others within a couple of kilometers. The fresh produce at the local market is not to be missed for a home-cooked evening at the cottage and I would have to recommend the salted caramel at the local ice-cream parlour; delightful. We plan to return at some point with our children who would have enjoyed the place as much as we did. Great spot; great host; great trip. Thank you Nicola.

  • An excellent February break with our two Golden Retrievers in this lovely cottage. Ideal for walking dogs and humans with access to so many walks, not forgetting Melmerby Moor just a couple of hundred yards away up the road. We were very comfortable and warm for our winter break in the cottage.

  • The cottage is very private and was a good value experience, accommodating the two of us and our dog. We were able to reach the Dales for some lovely walks, within a 10 minute walk from the property. The bed was extremely comfortable. If you forget reading material, don't despair, an old red 'phonebox 2 minutes walk from the cottage doubles up as a secondhand book swap centre.

This 3 star plus, one bed roomed former Chapel, is a secluded retreat in the center of the popular market town of Leyburn, with immediate access to the town and its facilities. New bathroom and kitchen recently fitted, redecorated and tastefully furnished.
Being a former chapel, this cottage is part of the history of Leyburn, and this comes through in the cottage. You'll find everything you need to make your stay a pleasant one.
Leyburn is a bustling market town, with a local market every Friday, with plenty of cafes, coffee shops, restaurants and pubs. Offering great location to explore the dales and beyond.
  • Excellent. Very cosy and comfortable.

  • Booked the place as a Christmas gift for parent in law. They had a great stay! Really easy to find and everything there that they needed.

  • 2nd time visiting the cottage and had another wonderful stay. Has everything you could need for your stay. Great location in Leyburn. The great British weather stopped us being able to do as much as we wanted so we had lots of time to relax in the cottage. Would highly recommend.

  • I booked Andrews place as a surprise getaway for my parents and they loved it! Couldn’t say enough nice things about the place and the surrounding area, so much so they’re looking to move to somewhere around Leyburn! They said the cottage had everything they needed for self catering with plenty of pubs and restaurants near by. They enjoyed some beautiful walks and loved being in such a beautiful part of the country! Andrew messaged me with some places for them to visit and things to do which all came in very handy! The whole booking experience was seamless. Would definitely book through Andrew again!

    Steph2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great place in the centre of Leyburn. Lovely size place for 2 people. Very clean and tidy with a very comfy bed and recliner sofas. It was nice that we could watch Netflix’s on the TV and there was an iPhone speaker in the bedroom. Quick access to Aysgarth, Hawes ad Richmond. Definitely recommend staying! 5 out of 5!

    Cara2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew's house is a super little place just off the main square in Leyburn. It has everything that you will need for a stay in the Dales. I would definitely recomend it and hope to be able to stay there again in the future.

Children can play safely on the Green using the play park of football goals while parents watch on from a number of seats or even from the seating outside the pub. Also, within the village is the West Burton Cauldron Falls one of the waterfalls drawn by Turner during his tour of the North of England. West Burton has a real sense of community with a village shop/tearoom, pub and family run butcher's shop. There is also plenty for the visitor to see and do, as well as The Old Smithy Antiques there is Moorside Design Cat Pottery and country shop/weaver's studio, Fabric of the Field. For further information and useful websites, please see below: The Old Smithy Antiques and Collectables A country antique shop selling quality antiques and a range of more unusual items The Cat Pottery : Moorside Design A family run business producing its original collection of cats in ceramics and metal or granite resin. Ramsay's Fish and Chip Van Wednesday night is Fish and Chip night in West Burton, the pub is always full of anticipation as people enjoy a drink while waiting for the van to arrive as it tours Wensleydale. We also like calling into Berry's Farm Shop for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner which is only 5 minutes away in Spennithorne, they run great farm tours if you have little ones or you can walk down to Redmire falls if you want to walk off lunch. You can order fresh fish from the village shop in West Witton which is 5 minutes down the road, Withywood Stores can order from the suppliers of the Wensleydale Heiffer which can be done daily Cauldron Falls One of the prettiest waterfalls in Wensleydale, located in a secluded corner of the village. Walking Country West Burton forms the starting point for a number of walks to suit all levels of fitness and we have put together a file of walks which we hope you find useful. • Michael is a great host. My parents stayed here for 4 days and told me they already can’t wait to come back. Absolutely loved the cottage, the shepherds hut and the walled garden so the dogs couldn’t get out! Michael also checked on them, by messaging me, when a storm hit, and recommended local places to go. Thank you so much.

  • Mike’s place is phenomenal. It’s one of the nicest Airbnb’s we’ve ever stayed at. Everything, and I mean everything, is in pristine condition. The setting is lovely, and the location is super convenient for virtually anything in the Dales. Mike was super helpful and explained anything and everything that we could need during our stay. The only caveat in our wonderful week long stay was WiFi connectivity/speed issues which did make work very challenging. That said, Mike was very helpful and did everything he could to improve the connection. If you need WiFi for work while there, check in with Mike as he was going to see if he could improve the set up. But there’s a Costa with decent WiFi up the road in Leyburn if needed. But overall, everything about the barn is top notch! We highly recommend it and would happily return if in the area. Thanks for everything, Mike!

  • What a place! Stayed for two nights and it couldn’t have been better. A gorgeous barn conversion perfect for a romantic getaway. Set in a beautiful village with great walks from the doorstep it was perfect and we wished we could have stayed longer. We had a great welcome from Mike who gave us really useful local tips. All the amenities you need for self catering and sparklingly clean, we can’t wait to come back to Prospect Barn!

    David2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in Prospect Barn. The barn is tastefully modernised to a high standard, the bed is extremely comfortable. It was very clean and I loved the cast iron bath! Dishwasher and washing machine in the kitchen. There is a lovely shared garden with stunning views. West Witton has a nice pub called the Fox and Hounds and the bar meals are good. We also went to the cafe at the village store, they run a book exchange there, really nice place. Unfortunately the WiFi wasn’t very good, and there were times when there was no signal even in the kitchen area. However this would not put us off visiting again, it is such delightful accommodation. Mike and his wife were lovely hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend it.

    Viv2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Prospect Barn is comfortable and very roomy. The Barn is well appointed and tastefully decorated. The views are lovely. It is well located as a home base for exploring the Dales and Lakes district. Walking distance to small convenience store and 2 pubs. We enjoyed our stay here.

  • Beautiful cottage in stunning rural location. If you need some tranquil time away from WIFI and phone signal with an open fire to warm your soul against the backdrop of rolling hills, stone barns and and farm animals, this is the place for you. Sue is an excellent host and the wine and home made chocolate cake were thoroughly enjoyed!

    Nick2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is so cosy and Sue has added lots of little touches about the place to make it feel like a home away from home. Located in the middle of Yorkshire with loads of walks from the doorsteps . Aysgarth Falls, Kettlewell, Arnclife definitely worth a visit is you like charming little villages.

    Jolanta2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sue's cottage is spotlessly clean and comfortable. Generous supplies, a fire burning brightly, along with a great cake greeted us on arrival. Coverdale is a most beautiful Dale with walks straight from the front door. We were just two people with a third person staying for just one night. Space wise three adults can be very comfortable. The cottage has lots of information and maps and Sue called as we arrived to welcome us and answer any questions. A great host and such a warm welcome from the neighbours too.

    Dian2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time here! Beautiful area of the Dales and a brilliant house to stay in. Sue was so welcoming.

    Ross2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing 4 night break, great host and accommodation (a real gem of a place!) Hopefully be back soon!

    Jake2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Before we had arrived at the cottage I had spoken to Sue over the Airbnb messenger function quite a lot as we had to rearrange the dates of our trip. Sue is so warm and friendly that by the time we got to the cottage and met for the first time it was like meeting up with a friend and I think that's a really good account of what staying at Sue's is like - going away to a friend's house. She's an exceptional host and obviously cares a great deal about the cottage itself and wants to make sure that her guests have the best time they can. We also found Sue to be as 'present' as we wanted. She was more than happy to offer recommendations and chat and also let us have our space which was really nice. The chocolate cake left for us on arrival was delicious too and we looked forward to returning back to the cottage every evening and having a slice in front of the fire. The cottage is warm and comfortable and has all the essentials. There was washing up stuff, tin foil etc., milk in the fridge, salt, pepper and tea and coffee making materials. Fluffy towels and clean good bedding and a great range of cooking wear so we could cook proper dinners at night - kitchen small but well stocked. Wood/ kindling/ coal etc. for a great evening fire was also provided. There were also plenty of DVDs and other things to do should we have wanted to but we didn't turn the TV on. There isn't wifi or phone signal in Househouse however this was a massive plus for us as we could properly relax. I believe the local pub has wifi and a market town nearby (Leyburn) has phone signal and reception AND a great fish and chips! I definitely will be back to stay again as we had a lovely time and overall is a terrific location for exploring the Dales. Thank you Sue, you're a real treasure :) xx

    Kitty2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is amazing. The descriptions are spot on and the experience was better than 5/5. Great extra touches from Sue (book and you will see what...) and everything you could possibly need is available. One tip due to the lack of phone signal (there is none for a few miles and it’s bliss) is to plan your walks ahead of arrival if possible. Saving that the Thwaites pub and their WiFi or the amazing number of maps and books that Sue has left will help. Everyone is so friendly in the village from Sue to the neighbours and the locals in the pub - very quirky landlord!! Cosy, homely, idyllic, peaceful, sensational would be words I would use to describe the cottage. For the price you pay it truly is out of this World and I simply cannot speak highly enough of Sue or her cottage. Thank you so much for allowing us to have experienced your cottage. Will be looking to return when next in need of a small piece of heaven.

  • We really have enjoyed ourselves in this lovely cottage. The cottage is very cosy, the bed is comfortabele and the shower is great. Vicky and Nick are very friendly people. We were delayed because of the floods going on in the dales, Vicky stayed in touch with us. We met Nick the last night, made us feel very welcome. We recommend this cottage to everyone.

Bumblebee Cottage is a charming holiday home superbly situated in an idyllic setting next to Aysgarth Falls. Recently renovated to the highest standard, the 2-bedroom property is stylish and sleek yet still homely. Perfect for relaxing family holidays or breaks with friends, Bumblebee Cottage is a true gem in North Yorkshire. Parking outside/close to the cottage is usually available. We're a family run holiday accommodation business providing luxury holiday homes along the North Yorkshire coastline. We pride ourselves on providing premium accommodation along with quick and efficient communication. We are always on hand to help with any questions or queries you may have, and our twenty first century approach will mean you always get complete flexibility when booking your stay. Whether you're staying with us for one night or two weeks, we know that you will enjoy the comfort and luxury that comes as standard at each of our Stay North Yorkshire properties.
The property briefly comprises a two double bedroom sandstone cottage which has been renovated to exacting standards. On the ground floor is the cosy living/dining room with log burner and luxury fitted kitchen. To the first floor are two double bedrooms and beautifully finished bathroom. The property is complemented externally by off-street parking and a seating area to enjoy the stunning views over Aysgarth Falls.
Bumblebee Cottage is superbly situated next to Aysgarth Falls. Aysgarth is an extremely popular Yorkshire Dales village with a wealth of local amenities. The property is also set behind St Andrews Medieval Church. The three stepped waterfalls at Aysgarth have been a tourist attraction for well over 200 years. Alongside the falls there are several easy paths winding through the woodland area, and in spring the wood is full of wood anemones and primroses. You may even be lucky enough to see roe deer darting away into the shadows. There is a National Park Centre, café and car park at Aysgarth Falls so it easy to visit. A top tip is to remember that the waterfalls are at their most dramatic after heavy rain.
  • Took the family on the Polar Express Christmas train and stayed and the Bumblebee cottage for two nights. Location was perfect just over the road from Aysgarth falls. Cottage was very clean, good communication and will definitely be staying again at this property or one of the other they have in North Yorkshire

  • Brilliant location right next to the falls, and all the local walks. Pub is a short trip up the hill and has a wonderful atmosphere and top notch food. Very close to all major attractions in the North Yorkshire area. The kitchen is fully stocked, newly renovated and the cottage is very cosy for cold nights in. Would stay again and highly recommend for 2 couples or a family visit.

  • Denise`s apartment was brilliant for our short stay in Wensleydale. Only a five minute walk into the centre of Leyburn, which has some decent pubs, shops, and a couple of really good Restaurants. Our room had a comfortable 4 poster bed, with plenty of hanging storage for our clothes. A good shower, with shampoos and shower gels, and good quality towels. Breakfast was available in the house kitchen , with cereals , and Bacon and eggs provided for you to make your own breakfast. Denise and Alex were great hosts , easily contactable, and helpful about the local area. Thanks again, and hopefully we`ll be back in the future. Craig & Pam

  • Denise's place was a super spot for us to relax and unwind following our flight and drive, being a unique stylish space with heaps of room. Having the ability to operate our Netflix account through Chromecast on the TV was an unexpected bonus, as was access to a wide variety of breakfast choices. Off-street parking was available but congested at times. All in all a lovely stay and highly recommended.

  • Coachman's Loft is a perfect place, especially if you like walking from the door and leaving the car behind. Many walks between 3 and 12 miles from the door. Excellent pub a few yards away (best beer in the area and good pub food). The hosts are very friendly and accommodating and the flat is as good as we were expecting, based on previous reviews. There is nothing we can find to put anyone off! Bed comfortable , nice and warm, comfy chairs, good self catering facilities etc etc.

  • Lovely barn conversion in a peaceful spot in West Witton. Comfortable bedroom, small but well equipped kitchen area, plenty of space for lounging in front of TV plus lots of games and puzzles for rainy afternoons. Steve and Carol were very welcoming, greeting us with the offer of tea, which came with delicious home-made scones.

  • A beautifully presented and quirky property in a lovely small village in the Yorkshire Dales. It was well situated to visit many places in the vicinity, not too far to drive to attractions. It was quiet and peaceful and very well kitted out for our needs, we were able to cook some meals but also had a memorable meal in the Wensleydale Heifer, a real treat. The bed was so comfortable and the bed linen amazing, it caressed the skin as you slid beneath the duvet. Bliss! Thoroughly recommend this Airb&b destination.

  • Coachman’s Loft was the perfect bolthole for a great weekend in the Dales. It’s a beautiful, cosy property, in a great location and with everything you could need for time away . There were lots of thoughtful touches that made our stay extra special. Carol was a brilliant host and the local hints and tips provided meant I discovered some previously unseen places, despite having been raised in Yorkshire and spending a lot of time in the Dales. Communication before check in was fantastic and meant arriving late on a Friday night after a flat car battery was a stress free experience! Cannot recommend this place enough.
