5* Apple Tree Cabin is in a beautiful location 12 min flat walk into the wonderful market town of Monmouth. Tucked away in a historic walledgarden/meadow dating back to Tudor times. The Cabin is suitable for 2/4 people, open living/bedroom area/kitchen and private en-suite bathroom. Private decking, outdoor seating & fire pit. Apple Tree Cabin combines luxury with nature. Enjoy your welsh cakes, and unwind with views of the lovely countryside. We do not accept PETS, HENs/STAGs parties or TENTS.
Drive through a track that runs beside an open field in the countryside to our entrance. We have a large parking area where you leave your vehicle, follow the stone path down to Apple Tree Cabin. The cabin is 13sqm in size (not including the ensuite) which is much larger than an average camping pod. Guests that have stayed are surprised at how big the space is, please read reviews. The cabin has everything you need to make your stay comfortable, including coffee maker, hot water bottles, hot water, electric shower and flushing mains toilet. The Cabin has amazing views of the surrounding countryside, sit outside for breakfast on your own private decking or evenings toasting marshmallows star gazing around your private fire pit. On arrival you will have fresh eggs from the farm next door, welsh cakes & milk. There is a kettle, toaster, Nespresso machine, 2 ring hob burner and a small fridge within the cabin. A small tv that plays only DVDs with a selection of films suitable for children and adults. There are board games & outdoor games to use and have fun. There is plenty of space to relax and unwind. We regularly see different types of wildlife including Otters, Fox, Squirrel, Badgers, Herons, Woodpeckers & Pheasants. There is plenty of space to unwind, we have another cabin on site called Stargazer Cabin. However each cabin has its own privacy and space away from each other. We are not like other glamping sites. There are only 2 cabins. It is very peaceful and therefore we would not accept high levels of noise. We have our own private house and area away from the cabin out of view. • The cabin was very cosy, and was incredibly warm once the cold weather hit later during the evening. It was extremely clean and the board games were a nice extra touch.

  • Lovely little peaceful cabin. Perfect for two people with all amenities you need :) Kenton was so helpful and met us when we arrived. Beautiful land with view and surroundings.

  • My partner and I had an absolutely wonderful stay here. The cabin is beautiful and cozy and has lots of little touches that make it really homely and special. It’s perfect for a little couples getaway. The location is great too, the surroundings are lovely and peaceful but it is also incredibly easy to get to Monmouth town centre where there is lots to do. Louise and Kenton were great hosts, very helpful whenever we had any questions and always quick to reply. Would highly recommend!

    Izzy2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was perfectly described and is in a beautiful location. We made use of the hot water bottle and the board games! It’s a really good idea for people/couple with a busy life and want to take a step back from the world! It’s in a peaceful location, and Monmouth is a lovely town! The cabin in a short drive from the Brecon beacons as well as the Forest of Dean!

  • Lovely little cottage just outside Abergavenny. Amazing views, stylish place and lots of lovely little touches. Hot tub a definite bonus! Easy to get out and about, and plenty to do in the area. Would definitely recommend.

  • If this place isn't booked up you'll be lucky. And there is a reason for that......its very, very nice. Modern and sleek but cosy and peaceful. In the middle of beautiful countryside, its so relaxing. Very clean, comfy with milk and butter in the fridge upon arrival and a cute little bottle of prosecco, all nice touches. So book if you can, you won't regret it.

    Georgia2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We booked Daisy Lodge for a little weekend getaway and had a wonderful time there. I can only recommend it. The lodge was spot clean and we had everything what we needed.

    Johanna2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Claire's place is as beautiful, if not better than the photos. The interior is modern, spacious and very comfortable. They are located amongst fabulous scenery (and down the road to a michelin star restaurant!) and our stay was very enjoyable. Unfortunately, the hot water was not working for the first evening/morning of our stay, but the hosts made up for it with it being fixed fast and a half-day extension to the end of our stay.

    Ben2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent accommodation, super hosts, beautiful setting. Highly recommend.

    Helen2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This accommodation is done to a very high standard, to the extent we enjoyed staying in more than going out. Both hosts were helpful and attentive and made our stay special. Thank you.

  • I will definitely be coming back as this place is a little cozy gem. Close to a lot of attractions or just a good place to relax.

  • Trudy & Ian’s Annex was amazing. I had booked it for my partner’s birthday & he absolutely fell in love with it as did I. The whole place was beautiful, everything worked great. It was lovely and warm, the jacuzzi was amazing. I can’t think of one negative thing to say about this place! The little touches like the breakfast bits just made it that little bit extra special! It’s also amazing if you have dogs too as it’s dog friendly which I loved! We will deffo be coming back here if we’re ever in the area.

Get back in touch with nature at this re-imagined home in the countryside. The lodge features an expansive all-white interior, a beamed cathedral ceiling, repointed original brick structural pillars, and a spiral staircase to an upper level loft.
The fully equipped kitchen/living-room, with its high ceiling and big glass doors, has a great sense of light and space, but is cosy and warm with underfloor heating, and high insulation for the winter. The big glass doors open out onto a patio, allowing a sense of inside-outside living. The main bedroom is downstairs, as is the superb jacuzzi bath with shower and toilet. Upstairs, on the mezzanine, a lovely double bedroom nestles into the eaves.
Troy Lodge Barn is a very convenient 10 minute walk away from the picturesque town of Monmouth, with a number of shops, amenities, pubs, and restaurants. A little further afield, there are many activities to try plus interesting buildings and dramatic views.
  • An absolute pleasure and delight to stay here, highly recommended! Sally is a fab host, nothing too much trouble.

    Russell2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a beautiful place, very comfortable . It had all the amenities ,sally goes above and beyond to make you comfortable. We wished we could have stayed longer.

    Jenny2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • I recently stayed here with my partner and our toddler. The host was superb and very thoughtful. Sally left me a message asking if a travel cot/ high chair was needed before we got there. Host set us up nicely with a welcome card, cupcake each and a few things in the fridge including a bottle of prosecco! One downside which wasn't a big problem was that the big doors leading out onto the patio had no curtains/ blinds so not a lot of privacy in the living area. Overall a good stay, would definitely recommend to anyone!

    Adam2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Visited with partner & friends for wkend to celebrate 50th Bday & wasn't disappointed. Sally is a lovely host, left cakes & a few welcome things for us, plus Bday card & flowers. Everything about the barn is amazing. Super modern from the lights to the huge Jacuzzi. It has everything you need with little extras from the White Company so smells gorgeous. Would highly recommend to visit. The location is great, very quiet but only a 10min walk to the lovely town of Monmouth. Hope to visit again

    Lisa2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing weekend at Sally’s place. It was super clean and comfy. It is beautifully designed and has everything you could possibly need. Would highly recommend.

  • We arrived on Valentines Day to celebrate our anniversary with some relaxing luxury in the country. The space was perfect and even with storm Dennis threatening to blow us away we had a wonderful time! Sally was a perfect host and we were greeted with a welcome card, flowers, cake and a bottle of bubbly which was a wonderful surprise! The barn is stocked with games and all amenities are provided to make it a home from home! Town was a 3 minute drive and the scenery was beautiful. Would recommend!

    Courtney2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is worth the stay! It’s amazing! Sally went above and beyond to make everything in the place so personal and we could have stayed for a week as it had everything you would need! She has thought of everything! Added bonus having gorgeous white company products and and an amazing hot tub / bath to have a glass of vino and chill or a even let our little one enjoy the bubbles! Can’t wait to stay again in the future! Xx

    Amy2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I have been using airbnb for some time, and this has been one of the best I have ever stayed in. The accommodation is very stylish, clean, warm, and modern. It has a well set up smart home system, so you can control the lights and music with amazon alexa. There was a comprehensive book with all the instructions we needed to use all the appliances during our stay. Sally was very warm and welcoming and we felt very well looked after throughout our stay. Would highly recommend!

A newly renovated cottage in the grounds of a country house close to Abergavenny & the beautiful Black Mountains. Stylishly designed, it retains the stone walls, beams & arched windows of the coach house it once was. It's the perfect place to relax after a day in the Welsh countryside: There's a well equipped kitchen, a cosy wood burner (with a basket of logs & kindling), a smart TV, wifi, lots of books, 100% cotton bed linen, fluffy cotton towels & SenSpa bathroom products. Outside, the kitchen garden is a great place to chill & there's also a private courtyard right next to the cottage.
Court Cottage was once part of the stable yard of the country house to which it belongs. We have recently refurbished it - turning it into a lovely cottage that retains the original roof beams, stone walls, arched windows and doors. Outside, there is plenty of private space - including a pretty courtyard next to the main house, with a table and chairs. Guests can also use the South facing kitchen garden - where there's a bench that's a great place to read a book or take in the views of rolling countryside. There's space to store bikes under cover and an outside tap to wash down bikes, boots and wellies. Inside, you walk straight into the sitting room, which is open to the roof eaves. It has two comfy sofas piled with cushions, a wood burner for chillier days, a digital TV & DVD player, a selection of board games and lots of books & local guides. Through the old pine double doors is the cosy bedroom, with its large arched window and beamed ceiling. It has a king size bed with pure cotton bed linen and a blanket woven from local wool. The bedroom has plenty of hanging space and a chest of drawers (and lots of room under the bed for suitcases etc). There's a digital radio on one of the bedside tables, usb plug sockets and also a hair dryer. Next door is the stylish en-suite bathroom, with a roll-top bath and separate shower. White cotton towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap and shower gel are provided. There's a socket for electric toothbrushes or shavers. The kitchen leads off the sitting room. It has painted cupboards and a marble worktop, together with a kitchen table for two. There are two usb sockets near the table, making it perfect for working as well as eating. A large antique pine storage cupboard houses everything you'll need to cook up a feast (or microwave a ready meal...). There is a microwave, induction hob & oven, fridge with ice box, dishwasher and washing machine. Tea, instant coffee and sugar are provided - and there's also a cafetiere if you're a real coffee aficionado. There’s also salt & pepper and olive oil. We also provide a clothes drying rack, iron and ironing board as well as tea towels, washing powder, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. There is wifi throughout the cottage. There is central heating throughout & we also provide a first basket of logs & kindling for the wood burner.
Abergavenny, renowned both for its Food Festival and as the gateway to the Brecon Beacons & Black Mountains, is 4 miles away. There you'll find local shops, a really good butcher and bakery, as well as a great local cinema and some of the best restaurants in Wales. For wonderful walks & cycling, you're spoilt for choice: the Sugar Loaf & Skirrid mountains are very close by, as is the famous Offas Dyke Path.
  • It’s nothing that hasn’t been said before, but what a beautiful place. Quaint setting in a courtyard, peaceful, quiet and tastefully decorated. There’s also a huge stockpile of firewood to keep cosy. Absolutely recommend! (Maybe just take slippers in the colder months as the stone floor can feel cold!)

    Sophie2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was absolutely beautiful. Well designed and incredibly tasteful. The location was very peaceful. I would highly recommend it and will definitely return.

  • A beautiful stay at this stunning cottage. Perfect for us for our birthday weekend. Cosy, beautifully decorated with a luxurious feel.

    Lucy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cottage - spotless throughout with great bath and shower. Comfy bed and lovely linen. Had a nice time relaxing after walking the nearby peaks. Plenty of places to eat nearby or stock up on food for the cottage. Very easy to find. Thoughtful hosts. Would recommend.

    Penny2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely stay at Joanna's beautiful cottage. As the weather wasn't amazing, we mainly stayed in, and felt really at home doing so. There was plenty of wood for the fire provided, the kitchen was amazingly well equipped meaning we could spend lots of time cooking, and the entire place was just really comfortable and cosy. The bath and shower we're lovely - it was very hard to leave!

    Emily2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was beautiful, even better than it appears on the photos. Joanna was also a great host who was easy to get hold of should we need anything. Location-wise there were plenty of shops (Aldi, Waitrose) and restaurants about a 10minute drive away and the kitchen was fully equipped for cooking. There were a variety of local walks a short distance from the cottage, we drove a bit further afield into the Brecon Beacons national park to the four waterfalls walk which was about a 50-minute drive. I'd recommend this AirBnB and would happily come back.

    Greg2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Every detail well thought out and meticulously executed. A thoroughly wonderful place to stay in a beautiful part of the country andJoanna ensured we had everything we needed for a perfect trip.

    Ed2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed here for our first Christmas together and we cannot fault the airbnb or Joanna in any way. When we arrived, it was spotless, tidy and welcoming. She even sent us a message to ensure we had enough kitchen utensils to make our Christmas lunch the next day (we absolutely did, the kitchen is very well stocked!). It was a very special place to spend Christmas, and the grounds it's situated on are absolutely gorgeous. We went for a walk around the gardens and it was teeming with woodland wildlife (including the odd pheasant or two). Most importantly, it was absolutely silent! A perfect place to go if you want to get away from the city and hide away for a weekend, or ideally longer. This is an airbnb where the pictures really do not lie. I highly recommend booking a trip so you can see it for yourself. Worth every penny. Side note: my girlfriend accidentally left an item behind, and Joanna soon arranged for it to be sent back to us!

  • Stayed at Roy’s place for a weekend. Very atmospheric, when you walk in the front door it’s a bit like walking back in time, but that’s just the front room. All modern amenities are provided for a relaxing stay and the bathrooms a bit special. The location is spot on for wandering around the lovely market town of Monmouth. There’s no on site parking but there’s plenty of public car parks locally. Can thoroughly recommend for creating special memories.

  • Really nice little cottage with lots of ‘oooh I wasn’t expecting that’ moments. What I though was just going to be a standard cottage was much nicer. Really nice decor/ finish and very interesting space. Great VFM and in a good location in the middle of town. Would stay again if in the area.

    Rob2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great value for money, nicely close to town.

  • The house was great. Old world charm, nice and warm with good amenities. Be careful of the bathroom entry/exit, if you’re tall 😂. To be expected for a house that’s ‘000’s years old

  • We stayed at the Old Butchers Cottage between Christmas and Newyear. What a gem! The 3 storey property is gorgeous and so so clean. Parking really is not an issue we found free parking just a short walk away but you can park overnight outside the house. Monmouth is a lovely town with plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance. Is you like Wetherspoons the Kings Head is a 2 minute walk. Will definitely return.

  • We had a wonderful stay over Christmas, the house was very cosy and added touch of Christmas tree was very kind. The house is ideally situated in Monmouth and we will be visiting again.

  • A beautiful place to stay - so quiet, away from it all. Very stylish and the wood burner will keep you very warm! The farm shop is amazing, and there's really no need to go anywhere else, except if you fancy a walk around, there is a beautiful estate and many great walks. We had a lovely time, thank you Clare.

With its climbing roses, worn red sandstone walls and gentle planting, the recently landscaped yard has the feeling of an old quad. For eating out, there's a picnic table in the front garden or a long table in the archway under the clock tower which is perfect if the weather is not so good. The self-contained apartment is accessed via a covered stairway which leads into a large sitting and dining room, a light and airy space with period features and a high-beamed ceiling. Off this room is a generous bedroom with three single beds, perfect for the younger members of a family to share. A small separate kitchen and bathroom are also located on this floor. Upstairs there is a double bedroom with its own toilet. The big house is a grand but kindly old place, lived in by the same family for over 200 years. you will undoubtedly stumble across one of the youngsters who lives there zipping up the drive on their bike with a Jack Russell in hot pursuit. The estate is within easy reach of the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean, and Black Mountains and there are castles galore on the doorstep.
  • A really lovely place to stay - a number of really great walks suggested by Sam and very special to eat fresh produce from the farm shop.

  • We were searching for a place to stay in Monmouthshire for a short family break, and as soon as I saw stable court with its characterful decor and expansive grounds as part of the old lands estate, I knew we’d found the right place. The house itself is clean, plenty big enough for 5, and full of charm. Especially appreciated was the lovely outside seating area. But what really made it extra special was the setting. The cottage is within the grounds of a large country estate and you can enjoy free roam of the whole place. It’s well located on the edge of the Forest of Dean with lovely walking and tons of castles to visit. But to be honest, it’s a bit of a wrench to leave the grounds of the estate. There’s a letterboxing trail (kind of like a treasure hunt), two ponds and a boating lake. A free guided nature walk including pond dipping for newts was a real highlight on our last day. Totally recommend this as a great place to stay for relaxing and soaking up the beautiful surroundings. In comparison with other places I looked at it’s great value for money. Enjoy!

  • A lovely place in a beautiful setting. Clare and Sam run Old lands with great care and consideration - and helped us on every front - on the day of our daughters graduation found us a dog sitter so we could enjoy the whole day out. We very much enjoyed the shop which is stocked every morning with fresh produce from the estates own walled garden. Sam’s nature walks around the estate are not to be missed to discover a world of minute creatures. He has been returning cultivated land to wild flower meadows, providing new habitats for wild life, creating a model natural environment. Our grown up family all loved it, though it would be exceptionally nice for young children. We rarely ventured further afield, we were so happy, eating outside, cooling off on a warm evening with a row on the lake. I don’t think any holiday could have suited us better. Roger

  • Our stay at Old Lands was absolutely incredible. It is a very quiet, relaxing place to sit back, relax and recuperate after many days of driving on our vacation. The entire flat at Stable Court was decorated in historical, yet lovely fashion. The beds were super comfortable and the amenities available were too many to describe. Sam and Clare are just wonderful hosts. Thank you again!

Horseshoes, Old Lands' former stables, has beamed bedrooms, a cosy sitting room and dining area, and a well equipped kitchen and private courtyard garden. On site there's a local produce shop, a children's Forest School and 200 acres to roam in. Also we have Liam & Emma who offer massage & personal training.
Horseshoes sits in Old Lands stable yard to the west of the big house . With its climbing roses, worn red sandstone walls and gentle planting, the recently landscaped yard has the feeling of an old quad. For eating out, a long table in the archway under the clock tower is the perfect spot. On the ground floor of the cottage there's an open plan sitting room and dining area leading into a well equipped kitchen. The original stable box wooden panels and stone wall divide the space which opens into your own private courtyard garden with BBQ and seating. You can park your car just the other side of the garden fence gate. There's also a toilet on the ground floor. Upstairs are three comfy bedrooms with beamed ceilings and basic modern bathrooms/ toilets (a double bedroom with shower and toilet, a twin bedroom with toilet, and a single room adjacent to a shared bathroom and separate toilet). • What an amazing, beautiful place - both the location and the estate. We thoroughly enjoyed the beauty and comfort of being there.

  • We had a great 10 day stay at Old Lands. Coming from North America, it provides a wonderful opportunity to stay in. a Welsh country estate. Cozy furnishings, beautiful Welsh textiles, convenient honesty shop and friendly people from the owners to other staff. The grounds are nice for a stroll, or weather permitting, a row on the lake - alas, for us the weather didn’t cooperate. We used Old Lands as a base for exploring many castles, abbeys, towns and pubs in the area. Highlights were Raglan (nice little onsite cafe), Chepstow, Skenfrith, and Usk castles. World Heritage Site of Blaenavon, and Roman site at Caerleon are must sees. Also the Lion pub in Trellech! Spectacular circle drive to Hay-on-Wye and back - amazing scenery!! It was always great to come back to Horseshoes at Old Lands and relax in the evening. We also enjoyed some meals catered by Penny - a great partnership with Old Lands. Thanks Sam, Clare and Amanda!!

  • Beautiful, quiet and private setting. Stylish, clean and quaint cottage. We absolutely loved our trip -- Sam gave us great suggestions on local hiking as well as activities on the property. Our kids LOVED letter boxing and it gave us something to do in the evenings after we had finished exploring the surrounding areas. Coming from the U.S., we liked that the cottage was centrally located to a lot of great attractions (Tintern Abbey, Highclere Castle, Bath, Cotswolds, Gower Coast, Brecon Beacons, etc). Wonderful place to stay for a family!!!

    Angie2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had another lovely time staying at the fabulous Old Lands in the beautiful Horseshoes. Old Lands is such a tranquil, beautiful and special place with a lovely ethos and atmosphere. Horseshoes is a really stylish and comfortable place to stay. We hope to be back again soon! Many thanks.

  • The cottages at the Old Land Estate are a fantastic place stay. Clare and Sam are excellent hosts and they really go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. Staying at the Old Land Estate is an incredible experience all onto itself. It’s in a great location to be able to easily see the attractions in England and Wales. We couldn’t be happier with our decision to stay there for our trip.

    Jeremy2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely converted barn with 3 good bedrooms. The cottage is great and well equipped and feels like home. We chose it because it was near to a wedding we were going to. But we discovered that the REAL reason to stay here is all about the grounds and the amazing focus on nature which the owners have nurtured. There are lovely walks through the parklands and fields, around the lake (where you can row too), and amongst their kitchen gardens and animals. The owner Sam is a serious naturalist and took us on a nature walk where he dipped ponds and caught insects and moths - this was full of gems of knowledge and fascinating creatures. It would be a great place to bring children, or to get some peace and quiet away from the world.

    Alex2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely three bedroomed five person self-contained cottage. Spotlessly clean and beautifully presented. Sam and Clare communicated brilliantly and openly and made sure all was ok. Lovely too that Sam spent so.much time on arrival talking us through things. Beautiful grounds very safe and generally just the best time. I even ate the spinach bought from the honesty shop. If you're looking for a break in mid-Wales this is a place to check out.

    Ian2018-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Old Lands is a great place to stay. Clare and Sam are excellent hosts. Communication before travelling is excellent and in our case they could even arrange Christmas decorations (tree and other green) in the house (Horseshoe)! The house is well equipped, many bathrooms, lovely mix of old furniture and modern styling and spotless. The Old Lands around Dingstowe Court (the main house) are great to stroll. The area is of outstanding beauty and you can do many things in the area: we played lots of golf, but there are many opportunities for walking, biking, fishing etc etc. We'll certainly return to this lovely place.

  • A really lovely, cosy annex. The location was beautiful and ideal for what we planned to do in the area. Lesley was really friendly and helpful with local tips and a lovely surprise gift package when we arrived. Would love to visit again and would recommend to anyone looking for a little retreat into the countryside!

  • Our stay at Willow Annexe was delightful. At arrival we were greeted by the two very friendly cats. The studio is very cosy with a wonderful view to the forest. We were impressed by the gifts left for us and the attention to detail that Lesley has put into it. The place is equipped with everything you need (kettle, microwave and a little stove with a pan, if you need to prepare something). Even though we have not met Lesley, she responded quickly to our messages and allowed us a late check-out, which is very good on a lazy Sunday morning. We recommend visiting Wye Valley and all of its surroundings. It is a perfect place for a romantic get-away in the countryside. Highly recommended.

Chesil Bank is set in the stunning countryside just 2miles ( and on a bus route) from the beautiful market town of Monmouth. The Wye valley is on the door step with the rivers Wye and Monnow brilliant for water activities. A hop over the back field will take you to the glorious Buckholt woods, brimming with flora and fauna. This area is renowned for cyclists and we are actually on the John O' Groats to Land's End cycle route!
Our rural working home is perfect for walkers, cyclists and those looking for a warm, friendly and homely atmosphere.
Buckholt is a linear hamlet just two miles on the Hereford road outside Monmouth. The countryside is wonderful- hilly in places! There is a pub a mile along the road. Monmouth is full of history, delightful shops, pubs and cafes with the river running through it.

Plenty of pubs and restaurants within 3 miles of us . The town's of Abergavenny and Monmouth are only about 7 miles away both of which have cinemas and theatres. There are Castles and Abbeys to visit locally . The town of Bleanavon has a mining museum where you can also go down into the old mines with guided tours. The Brecon Beacons are not far away for those that like to walk there is also the Sugar Loaf and the Black Mountains locally , the walk along the local canal in Abergavenny can also be completed while trying out the canal boat rides for those that prefer it . Coarse fishing can also be catered for locally
  • The photos cannot do this place justice, it was so much bigger than anticipated but also so cost and homely. The fire was a delight. It was the perfect location to have a break from Corona-virus. So isolated and didn't see another person (apart from Zoe and Merv who are lovely) the whole time. Lovely walk so on the door step. Please please stay here in the next few months.

I would recommend abergavenny town, walks up the mountains or The Big pit is also surprisingly interesting. Also close by is Raglan play barn and farm which is awsome for kids. The cottage had everything I needed and I would definitely stay again. Thanks! Wendy

The Little House on The Priory is sat in the picturesque Welsh border village of Skenfrith, just 15 minutes from Abergavenny, Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye. The Little House sits just beside our home (though has it’s own driveway and entrance) so we’re not too far away if ever there is a problem. Within walking distance is The Bell, a Conde Naste awarded pub/restaurant, a beautiful church, historic castle and the river Monnow. The Little House is a strictly No Smoking property.
The property is all yours! It has three double bedrooms and is presented to a high standard. The walls are raw lime plaster providing a cool contemporary look, but it remains really cosy. For guests who want to remain connected whilst in the countryside, the property benefits from a large TV, wireless broadband and telephone line. If you’re bringing kids we also have a Blue Ray player for their collection of films. After a long walk, why not use the hot tub to relax? After each set of guests, the hot tub requires draining, re-filling, heating, treating and maintaining. As you can appreciate, this costs time and money, so we apply the following charges to the use of the hot tub: 2/3 days £45 4+ days £65 There is also an outdoor seating/dining area and a lawned area.
Skenfrith is a characterful village, set in beautiful Welsh countryside, complete with a volunteer based community shop, an historic Church, the remains of a Norman castle and The Bell, a lovely country pub. Known as The Gateway to Wales and renowned for it’s excellent food, nearby Abergavenny boasts many excellent eateries, including The Hardwick, The Walnut Tree, The Angel Hotel and The Chapel Cafe. Not forgetting the historic city of Hereford and the lovely market town, Monmouth. Skenfrith is perfectly placed to enjoy all the area has to offer.
  • My friends and I had a fantastic weekend enjoying the incredible views from the hot tub, walking in the nearby apple orchard, eating at the local pub & generally relaxing. Pod's Place is a quaint,Grade Two listed little cottage in the historic part of Monmouth (voted best place to live in Wales) and is ideally situated to explore this area. The cottage dates back to the 1600s but has been restored to a very high standard throughout. We welcome pets and there is a safe, walled, courtyard with an outside dining area. We provide a welcome basket with bread, milk, cereals, butter, tea and coffee. Of course toiletries, bed linen and towels are also provided.
Pod's Place is very quirky, and has been lovingly restored. It has a very well appointed separate kitchen, a living room with wood burner, bathroom, two beamed, double bedrooms and one single room (all with wardrobes). We are completely flexible over dates, however there is a minimum stay of two nights ( during holiday periods it increases to 3 days). We have free WiFi, and there is a TV. Central heating is installed throughout the house as well as a charming wood burning. The kitchen, with dishwasher, is fully equipped and has everything you could need including a Nespresso coffee machine, and tea and coffee is always supplied. We provide high quality towels, bed linen and toiletries. There is a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board if you should need it. There is always a box of logs next to the wood burner, but if you use any additional bags - please leave £5.00 / bag on the mantelpiece. If you run out of logs give us a ring on 07525399136 and we will drop some down. We welcome dogs and are close to no end of interesting walks (and although dogs are always welcome we ask that they stay downstairs and not on the furniture) . In Monmouth, which is a short, level walk away. there are a number of restaurants and pubs full of character, together with supermarkets and lots of individual little shops, including award winning butchers and an amazing greengrocers. We are ideally positioned for parents visiting children in the Haberdashers schools being right next to the Girls' school and a short walk from the Boys' school.
  • Pod’s Place is only a 10 minute walk from town which was fabulous. The cottage was much bigger than expected... the living room has a very toasty wood burner and the spotless Kitchen has an amazing milk frother which gives you a shop worthy cuppa. Everything you need for a short break. Carl was a thoughtful host, thanks Carl.

    Deborah2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Pod's was perfect for our weekend exploring the Forest of Dean. The place is clean, tidy and stocked with all the essentials you will need.

  • Spacious, clean and well equipped house and easy walk into Monmouth for shops, restaurants. Carl is great host and makes sure you have everything you need including basic groceries for breakfast.

    Corinne2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Pod’s Place is charming and delightful. It is warm and relaxing and Carl is a wonderful and easy host. Pod’s is in a great location. Just a short walk to the Monmouth village center. It is also centrally located to many wonderful attractions and lovely country walks is the stunning Wye River Valley. Carl has fully updated and restored this cozy historic flat. We will definitely stay there again if we pass that way.

    Matt2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Pod's Place. The house has been beautifully and tastefully updated, including a fantastic kitchen. Monmouth is a great place to explore and we enjoyed several fabulous local walks in the Wye Valley and Offa's Dyke (including some excellent beer afterwards!). It's worth noting that the stairs to the third bedroom on the top floor are quite narrow and winding - our less mobile relatives found it a little challenging.

Dating back to 1752 this rustic Granary has been sympathetically converted to retain its original features. Perfect for chilling out or walking, set in our family farmland with direct access to Offas Dyke footpath. Dramatic high ceiling oak beamed bedroom with ensuite. Cosy low beamed kitchen/diner with wood burning stove. The sunroom/lounge makes the very most of natural sunlight with rural farm views.
The dramatic high oak beamed ceiling of the bedroom provides a unique space combined with the modern convenience of an ensuite bathroom. The cosy kitchen/diner (originally where corn was ground in 1752), has a range of modern kitchen appliances including coffee machine. The wood burning stove is available for romantic evenings in and the sun room/lounge makes the most of sunny days.
The nearest village is about a three minute drive away or a pleasant twenty minute stroll across the fields. The local village pub has a great restaurant or bar meals and is open every day.
  • Gorgeous place, loved the sitting room/conservatory. Ideal for a get away to escape it all. Lots of character and lovely homely feel. Welcomed by hosts and bought free range eggs from their chickens. Beautiful part of the country with stunning views.

    Victoria2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at this beautifully unique barn conversion. The space was spotlessly clean and has all the necessary amenities. Fresh bread, jams and butter were provided (delicious, thanks!) as well as tea, coffee and fresh milk. The log burner made the space really warm and cosy as it was a chilly night. The hosts were very welcoming and were on hand to help with anything we needed. A very peaceful and relaxing stay in the Welsh countryside, I highly recommend staying here!

    Matthew2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The Granary is a great place in a beautiful location. Caroline was a fantastic host and even lit the log burner for us! The Granary has everything you need for a relaxing stay with stunning views. Would highly recommend 😁

  • We travelled to The Granary in ‘Storm Dennis’ and so very glad we did. It was warm, cosy, spotlessly clean and filled with character. Caroline came over to welcome us, she is absolutely lovely and made us feel so at home. Fantastic location for walking from the door, across owners land to Offa’s Dyke trail past the very vocal donkey 😀 but we spent hours in the spacious sun room enjoying the antics of the hens, the sheep and the hawks soaring overhead. On a clear night we gazed through the roof at the amazing dark skies....incredible!! This place exceeded all our expectations. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Tucked away in the woods, Sacred Tree Spirit is a beautifully quirky escape from the stresses of modern life. Jon is a sound therapy practitioner and craftsman, so you could have a relaxing sound session or learn to make a spoon during your stay. There are all manner of interesting details in the house and in the grounds, a fire pit and wood fired spa pool are amongst them. A sculpture trail is an upcoming project. This unique place to stay might interest someone ready to rekindle creativity.
  • Jon and Michelle were exceptional hosts. They made us feel welcome, guided us to the pub and local caves and made the most delicious pancakes. We would highly recommend a stay here.

  • Jon’s place is a fantastic, peaceful woodland retreat! Exactly as advertised. Perfect for a relaxing getaway or adventure in the Wye valley. Just a short walk away from many of the hiking trails that run all the way along the river and right next to some excellent pubs in Symonds Yat. The location couldn’t be any more perfect. Jon was a fantastic host during my stay. He even drew a detailed map to help me with my walk to the pub on the first day. I would highly recommend staying here and have already planned to go back myself!

    Andrew2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, quirky woodland retreat. There really is no place quite like it. Jon is incredibly helpful and friendly and has great knowledge of the local area and the best places to walk in the surrounding woods. He and his partner went out of their way to accommodate me at short notice and make me welcome. Home cooked meals are offered for an extra small fee: home from home! But of a magic place really. Would definitely visit again.

The room in Kate's bungalow was stylishly decorated including a very comfortable bed and we could use the bathroom (with in-bath shower) across the hallway. Tea and coffee and a kettle in the room. Less than 10 minutes walk into town. Good value. If we need to go to Monmouth again, Kate's place would be my first choice.

And some wonderful welcoming touches. And the bed so comfy you will not want to get up! Great pubs around locally and very near to Ross On Wye and Hereford.

  • We stayed at Stef’s place to celebrate my partners birthday and we had such a lovely weekend- when we arrived Stef had left a cake from the local farm shop and candle so we could celebrate, such a lovely personal touch. The accommodation is beautiful with fantastic amenities and the location is excellent- such a short drive away from all the great places to explore in the Wye Valley including Symonds Yat and the Forest of Deane. Thanks so much for a great stay Stef!

    Rebecca2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Stef’s place last weekend and it was such a lovely getaway. The barn is so cosy, perfectly decorated and spotless. There were so many extra details that make this place so great, including a super comfy bed and a wonderful lemon drizzle cake left by the hosts. Location is great too, tucked away on a farm but only a short drive to Ross on Wye and some truly beautiful walks. All in all, couldn't ask for a nicer spot to spend a relaxed weekend!

    Amir2020-02-24T00:00:00Z

  • My daughter booked this accommodation for a Birthday present for a weekend. Grove View Barn is situated in a beautiful and quiet location with easy access to surrounding places of interest. The Haystore where we resided was quaint, clean and very homely. This is attached to the main barn with good parking and easy access. Our host Stefanie greeted us with a warm and friendly welcome when she popped in shortly after our arrival. The Haystore is very charismatic and cosy throughout and has all the utilities that you would require for a pleasant stay. The Haystore comprises of a bedroom, walk in shower / ablutions and kitchen, dining and living area. During our stay we visited the Red Lion Pub that is within walking distance or very short drive. The food was excellent and nicely priced, well worth a visit. In the daytime we visited and walked the Sculpture Walk in the Forest of Dean and Goodrich Castle and had a Sunday Roast in the Lion Inn, Trellech. The local Pengethley Garden Centre is also worth a visit. On our return home my wife and I were impressed by the accommodation, friendliness and beautiful surroundings. We intend to return for another weekend. (Chloe's parents)

Our mobile home is located on the edge of our farm in rural south east Wales. It's a fully self contained centrally heated home with living area, kitchen, bathroom, terrace and two bedrooms (one double and one twin beds) plus a pull-out sofa-bed in the living room. The large living area has lovely views out over the rolling hills and nearby welsh mountains. We have a working farm with beef cattle, pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks, and three friendly alpacas (Alfie, Albert and Bertie).
We are a working farm we enjoy showing our guests around and explaining about our animals and how we care for them. Only happy animals here! The home is stocked with toiletries, towels and bed linen. We provide a fruit bowl, our award winning free range eggs, bread, milk, squash and breakfast essentials. We can also provide fresh meat from our farm (bacon, burgers, steaks, etc), perfect for the BBQ. Let us know what you'd like and we'll be happy to provide these at any point in your stay for a small extra charge.
The mobile home is in rural Wales between Monmouth and Abergavenny. There is plenty of walking and hiking in the local area, lovely local restaurants and pubs, plenty to do with children from water slides to a butterly zoo!
  • Lovely farm stay. Bring your wellies and enjoy the views and meet the animals. Brilliant hosts, just really genuine people who clearly love what they do and care for their animals. Plenty of space and all you need for a restful stay.

  • A small bungalow perfect for a family stay. Being surrounded by animals, being able to go see them, touch them, Rosemary's explanations. Close to major sites to visit.

    Juliet2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Having read previous reviews we already knew that our children would enjoy the experience of staying on and seeing the animals on the farm. However, Rosemary and Adrian went above and beyond to talk to us about and let us see all the animals. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay and will definitely look to go back again. The accommodation is well located to explore the local area. It is well priced and a great find with a lovely family feel.

  • Very nice place for summer farm stays. Kids would love it with friendly animals around.

  • We had a wonderful time staying on the farm. The caravan was excellent, just what we needed to keep out of the cold - cosy and inviting. Rosemary and Adrian (and Adrian's Dad!) were very welcoming and friendly and our son had a lovely time seeing the animals and getting filthy! 😁 I honestly did not want to leave - it's the perfect place to unwind and forget about normal life for a bit. We hope to be back again sometime to see more of the area when the weather is warmer!

Our place is thoroughly cleaned between visits. Surfaces are wiped down with anti-bacterial cleanser. Charming converted stable with private entrance via an old (uneven) cobbled courtyard. Easy walking distance to centre of Monmouth. A self-contained house consisting of sitting/dining room with small kitchen area (including fridge, hob, sink & microwave). Double doors onto a pretty terrace. Shower room with toilet. A narrow spiral staircase leads to a large bedroom with double bed.
Dating back to the 19th century, there are many original features within the stable such as low beams! Also a narrow spiral staircase for access to the bedroom - therefore we are not suitable for disabled I am afraid. The bathroom has shower only. If you want to use the sofa-bed please order for 3 guests, whether there are three of you or not, as we do make a charge of £10 per night for the sofa-bed, and it will not show the correct price if you only ask for 2 guests.
Monmouth is pretty market town in an area of outstanding natural beauty - situated on the River Wye. There are many local activities available in the area such as walking (we are not far from the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons), canoeing, cycling and lots of lovely local country pubs.
  • Short walk into Monmouth. Lovely little self contained flat. Sally is a true super host.

    Neil2020-03-22T00:00:00Z

A romantic country retreat in the heart of the Wye Valley on the edge of the Forest of Dean. An ideal base for exploring all the fantastic activities and sites that the local area has to offer. Whether you enjoy mountain biking, rambling, canoeing, or soaking up some English and Welsh heritage - the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean really do have something for everyone. We will happily answer any questions you have about the local area to ensure you get the most out of your stay.
This beautifully and sympathetically, renovated cosy cottage is nestled in the village of Redbrook and literally sits on the England & Wales border - the border is a brook that runs through a culvert under the cottage so you can take a shower in England and then make yourself a cup of tea in Wales! The cottage is equipped to a high standard with everything you'll need for a comfortable stay and a relaxing holiday. With upside down living, you'll find the cosy bedroom downstairs with a luxury king-size bed and underfloor heating, plus a double ended bath and power shower to help you unwind after a long day exploring. Upstairs the open plan kitchen and living area provides all mod-cons to make your stay as comfortable as possible, and there is an upstairs private decking area with a BBQ so you can sit out and enjoy the view across the valley whilst listening to the brook babbling by.
Redbrook is a small village on the England/Wales border, which sits on the shores of the River Wye. The cottage is a 5 minute stroll into the centre of the village where you will find a fantastic village shop, a village green and 2 pubs (one in England, one in Wales - which makes for a great atmosphere during the Rugby!) It is just 2 miles from the historical market town of Monmouth and has many local attractions. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area which has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
  • Couldn’t recommend this place enough, Rebecca goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is exceptional, the house speaks for itself and is like a fairytale, perfect spot for two and well thought out attention for detail in the decoration. Absolutely amazing !!!!!

  • Perfect spot to stay at.

  • My partner and I had the most relaxing weekend at this beautiful cottage in the Wye Valley. Leading up to out stay we were concerned about the flooding in the area, however Rebecca was fantastic at keeping in contact and updating us on the road closures. The cottage was everything we could have wished for and provided us with the perfect retreat in the countryside. It was clean, comfortable and the little touches of eggs from their hens and home made banana bread made us feel very welcome. We loved our stay and would recommend it to anybody, and we will definitely be booking to stay again in the future.

The Cottage is a converted stable, the original building is 150 years old. It's been sympathetically converted to provide well equipped comfortable accommodation. There's a private courtyard garden by a babbling brook. The Cottage is centrally heated a combi boiler provides continuous hot water. The cottage is on one level. There is a double/twin bedded room with en-suite tiled shower room. A large living room has a sofa bed & a door leading to the private courtyard garden. Dogs are welcome.
A lovely village, that has a great Church (All Saints, Newland also known as the Cathedral of the Forest). A fab village pub The Ostrich also welcomes dogs. Easy access to the Wye Valley and all it's attractions plus lots of walks on the doorstep.
  • Fantastic location, pretty, and well equipped. Easy check in and out, couldn't recommend more! Probably better for 2 people than the 3 we had (we were expecting that), but there was plenty of space for a few days.

    Robert2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Rookery Cottage was outstanding. A beautiful place in just at the edge of the village. An excellent place to stay when you're exploring things in and around the Forest of Dean. The local village pub serves amazing food, and is a great atmosphere. We stayed two nights and found the cottage perfect for our needs. Everything was simple, easy to find and the lock box made checking in and out a breeze. Highly recommended!

    Duncan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z

Situated in the beautiful Forest of Dean, on the edge of the Wye Valley and just a couple of miles from the Welsh border, our town house provides a great base for exploring this lush, wooded region. Located in the historic market town of Coleford, it's also conveniently placed for shops, pubs and eateries. Our family lives in the main part of the house, but the loft room is tucked away from our living spaces so you will have plenty of privacy.
The spacious attic room is a quiet haven with a super comfy bed and green and pleasant views of the surrounding gardens. It is at the top of the house, so you do need to climb up a few flights of stairs. The airy bathroom on the floor below your bedroom will be all yours (we have a separate one downstairs). Young families welcome - we can provide a floor mattress for a little one. Please note: the extra bed is really only suitable for children. Please let us know if you plan to bring a child. Free on-street parking. Please read our house rules before booking.
Coleford is a historic small town with little shops to browse, bakeries, pubs, chip shops, cafes and a supermarket. The place comes alive at the annual music festival in July (it can be noisy!). It's a stone's throw from Symonds Yat, Offa's Dyke Path, Beechenhurst, Speech House, Clearwell Caves and Puzzlewood. Tintern and Monmouth are about 20mins, Chepstow, Abergavenny and Ross-on-Wye 25mins.

This deceptively spacious Annexe has a kitchen area with a fridge, cooker, hob, toaster, kettle, microwave and enough utensils to make meals. With a shower and loo, the Annexe has its own heating so is quite cosy and comfortable. An ideal location for short breaks whether you wish to be active or just enjoy the peace and quiet and spectacular views. The River Wye is just a 10 min walk away and the Forest of Dean a short distance beyond. We supply all bedding and towels so you can travel light.
The Annexe is at the end of a single track road (with passing places) and the accommodation is reached via external stairs Rocklands Annexe is at the top of the hill overlooking the Wye valley and so the downhill walk (or drive) to reach the river will inevitably mean an uphill return! Three good Inns serve excellent food on the West side of the river with either a direct short ferry or a pleasant riverside walk to the Biblins footbridge leading you to more Inns and good eating on the East side of Symonds Yat
Rocklands Annexe is in an ideal location overlooking the River Wye and the Forest of Dean. The area is famous for its diversity of walking, running and cycling trails or for the more adventurous - local climbing Canoeing on River Wye is a very popular pursuit - with many local companies providing Canoe Hire and tuition. Most will transport you to a safe launch point at the start of a part or full day's expedition which can be taken leisurely or at a pace to suit yourselves
  • Better than the photos - an amazing area, with gorgeous walks and lovely local pubs. What sets this stay apart though is the hospitality - from the humorous directions, the localised hand-drawn map and the friendly welcome, it was clear we were welcome from the start. Would recommend to everyone - bring walking boots for the trails..

  • Fabulous place to stay with an amazing view to wake up to each morning. Martin & Judy were very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. The annexe is spacious and spotlessly clean.
