This is a self contained flat built above our garage in the building that used to be the old coach house. Set in a quiet location on the northern edge of the South Downs National Park it is well placed for walking, National Trust, Jane Austen, HMS Victory, The Mary Rose, The Watercress line, Goodwood, Haslemere, Petworth, The Devil's Punchbowl and the lovely town of Petersfield. It can accommodate 2 comfortably and 4 using the bed settee , but this can be quite a squeeze.
This property is on the edge of the village of Liss which is on the main line railway to Waterloo or Portsmouth. Trains run hourly and it is a 10 minute walk to the station. Despite being near the village centre, with a small Tesco, a Boots and a great little café, it is very peaceful and within an easy of The Sussex Border Path, The Serpent Trail and other waymarked paths. The flat is self contained with its own entrance and has access to a small garden. It is perfect for two but could take up to four with use of the bed settee which can be folded during the day. It has a kitchen with washing machine, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, cooker, fridge and is heated with storage heaters. A tumble dryer can be used on request. There is a Smart TV, which works on FreeSat, offering the usual terrestrial channels as well as internet access providing catch up, Netflix (use your own account) and other internet channels. There is a strong WIFI signal as well as the possibility of an ethernet connection. There is a DVD player and a good selection of DVDs as well as books and some games. Our family use the space when they come and love it - you will be very comfortable and made very welcome. We do ask that guests park at the bottom of the drive rather than adjacent to the property as space is limited. The space is best used by two adults, but could accommodate two more with use of the bed settee or the option of mattresses on the floor for children. Please let me know if you will need the extra bedding for more than two people or indeed two people who wish to sleep separately.
The neighbourhood has all the advantages of village living, plus proximity to a main line station, but retains a country feel. It is within easy reach of many places of interest as well as stunning countryside and South Downs waymarked paths.
  • We enjoyed our quick stay in Ruth's place. It was very quiet and clean. Great for our weekend trip.

    Megan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little place to stay. Hosts couldn't be more helpful.

    Richard2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth is a very accommodating host. The space is lovely and comfortable and great as a couple retreat. The walk from Liss station is roughly 15 minutes if you’re a slow walker and there’s a Tesco express nearby too. Loved the decor and me and my Queen would recommend.

    Emmanuel2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Really well equipped. Loved it.

    William2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcoming and very clean. Great space and host is brilliant x

    Queenie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This a very comfortable self-contained flat with all the amenities you could wish for. The parking is on the road, about a minutes walk away, but I had no problems finding space. I was attending a course at Longmoor Barracks so had little opportunity to explore Liss and the surrounding area but it looked perfectly positioned for walks. It is an ideal base for anyone that does not want to stay on camp (or whose other half does not want to!).

    Ian2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a lovely stay here! The place was spotless and had everything you needed for a nice weekend away. Ruth and Graham were thoughtful hosts and were on hand if we needed them. There was also a good range of suggestions for places to eat and places to go while we were there. Very quiet surroundings and gorgeous countryside! We would recommend and would stay here again!

    Kara2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth's place was quiet and clean and perfect as a rest stop after a long day exploring. The flat had everything we could need.

This quaint semi-detached cottage was built in the style of local buildings to compliment the historical landscape of the national park. Inside the cottage is fresh, comfortable and blissfully quiet. Furnished to a very high standard with a subtle blend of old and new, you’ll feel cosy and comfortable. Bifold doors open onto a stone patio to sit with a glass of English sparkling wine from one of the many local award winning vineyards. Holstocks Barn sleeps 2 in 1 bedroom with en-suite and has single level access throughout. There are 2 parking spaces on a driveway. Ground Floor - Open plan sitting, dining, kitchen - Kitchen: with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer - Dining area: table for 2-6 - Sitting room: sofa for 2-4, 40" Smart TV - Master Bedroom: sleeps 2, with a super king size or twin bed - Bathroom: Walk-in shower and WC with complimentary REN ® toiletries Outside - Patio and decking with seating - Acres of grounds - Warm water dog wash station - Croquet and other garden games - Parking for 2+ cars
We’re lucky enough to live in one of Hampshire’s most scenic areas, in a county renowned for its rolling downs, chalk streams, beautiful beaches and varied history. Our luxurious self-catering holiday cottages enjoy a peaceful setting on the owners working farm in the hamlet of Ramsdean, within the heart of the magnificent South Downs National Park. Hampshire really does offer some of the best walking country in England, and there are many pub’s to stop by and enjoy some local food, beer and wine! Hampshire has a rich history. Named ‘Jane Austin country’, you can visit many of the national trust properties that inspired her novels, and even visit the house where she wrote them. The historical Naval Port of Portsmouth (within 30 minutes drive) has many museums tracing our history from Henry the VIII’s Mary Rose to the modern Royal Navy. The medieval city of Winchester, which is home to King Arthurs round table is also just a short drive away. Whether you’re looking for solitude in beautiful hill country, interested in wildlife watching or interested in the history, our self-catering holiday cottages are perfectly situated for all these and more.

    Petersfield, United Kingdom

A delightful, cosy Grade Two listed cottage built over 250 years ago in the heart of this historical village with it's 12th Century Church, Manor House and Rectory. Just steps away from the beauty spot of Buriton Pond and close access to the stunning walks of the the South Downs Way. There's a cosy wood burning stove in Winter and a sunny terrace for morning coffee in the Summer. I like to make my guests welcome and relaxed but also respect their peace and privacy.
The cottage is very old. Please expect charm and atmosphere rather than luxury. I pride myself on it's old world character, interesting artifacts and pretty, clean and tidy rooms rather than hotel standard Mod Cons. There is no TV in the bedroom and the stairs are steep and uneven. Don't book unless you love the idea of romance and peace!
Guests can easily walk from the cottage to the Queen Elizabeth Country Park or join the South Downs Way. Nearby is Butser Hill with it's stunning views (on a clear day you can see the sea!) and the Butser Ancient Farm. Petersfield, the historic market town is a ten minute drive away with trains into London taking one hour. West Wittering beach and Chichester Harbour is approx 40 minutes drive and ferries to the Isle Of Wight a 25 minute drive. The very beautiful Meon Valley with its charming ancient villages is also minutes away.
  • Lovely, very British cottage with nice interior details. Abigail is a great host. Highly recommended

    Rennie2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Abigail’s cottage is the ideal place for calm and relaxing holidays. Abigail is a lovely host, always cheerful and really fast to answer all our questions and give advice about any activities and sights around. We had two wonderful days visiting Winchester and other picturesque villages and towns. The scenery is of great natural beauty. The room was spacious, warm, comfortable and very clean! There was plenty of parking space just outside the cottage on the side of the road. We would definitely recommend Abigail and her lovely place!

    Aris2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A warm welcome, comfortable room and only a very short walk away from a good pub. Buriton is a quiet and attractive village.

    Robert2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Abigail offered us a great place to stay for our trip in the South Downs, we felt really welcomed and had a very cosy stay in her lovely cottage. She has been a very helpful host with lots of local tips about what to do, village history and overall good discussions. Thanks again very much for everything.

    Simon2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Had the most lovely stay at Abigails charming cottage. Perfect location for beautiful walks, pub dinners and star gazing! Abigails cottage is so Comfortable and lovely and we enjoyed the fire and tea after our long walk. Highly recommend and hope to return!

    Christina2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Abigail's cottage is very pretty and has everything you need. We stopped for one night whilst walking the South Downs Way. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was very powerful too. Abigail made us a cup of tea and lit the fire on our arrival and there werealso tea/coffee making facilities in the room too. Abigail is a very good host and would recommend staying at her cottage if you're in the area. The village of Buriton is also very pretty and is lucky enough to have 2 pubs!

    Charlotte2020-02-02T00:00:00Z

  • Had a fabulous stay. I was working in Petersfield and the location for me was perfect. Close to the Railway station and a short walk to the town centre. The room was beautifully decorated with a great view of the garden (Which is magical at night), the bed was very comfortable and even a large bowl of fresh fruit (a nice touch!) to choose from as well as tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The en-suit is perfect, very clean and fresh. Good selection for breakfast, Perfect coffee and really enjoyed the fresh strawberries and blue berries with the muesli. Chris provided a super place to stay, he was very welcoming and communication throughout was excellent, the perfect Host.... You won't be disappointed!! No wonder he is always booked up. Highly recommended and hope to stay again in the future on my next visit to Petersfield. Thanks Chris

Charming isolated space overlooking garden and open farmland within South Down National Park. Double bed with space for travelling cot if have young family. En-suite toilet and shower with luxury products. Own lockable door with parking. Ideal for Goodwood, weddings at the Tythe Barn and Southdowns Manor, visits to Petersfield and Chichester, as well as walking the South Downs Way. We don't accept dogs but guests may come into contact with Nora our friendly dog so must be OK with dogs.
The garden is isolated and because the garden and house is on open farmland there is a feeling of space and calm. Country roads abound for walks and escape from city life.
We are in the Harting Downs and have lots of leaflets suggesting walks and places to visit in the cabin. We are ideally placed for walking the Harting Downs and South Down Way. The views from Harting Downs are amazing. Also Butser Hill, the highest point on the South Downs Way in Queen Elizabeth Country Park is a great place to walk and the Visitor centre is about 6 miles drive away. If you want to explore market towns Petersfield is charming Petersfield is about 10 mins away which is a lovely market town with lots of pubs, eateries and shops. You can walk there across the fields from our the cabin too. And of course Chichester with it's famous Cathedral is close by too. We have a great village pub in South Harting called The White Hart which is walkable (2 miles) along country roads although probably a cab back! There is also about half an hour down the A3, Portsmouth GunWharf Quays and there is a park and ride for that which makes it easier. GunWharf is a Designer outlet, lots of eateries on the Quay and also the great Spinnaker Tower.
  • Thanks so much Jo for a fabulous stay at your gorgeous cabin. You were such great hosts and it really was a fantastic place to stay, with many really thoughtful touches. We’d definitely come again if we return to the area!

    Katie2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jo, Steve and Nora (the Tibetan Spaniel) were wonderfully welcoming hosts. The cabin was small but perfectly formed with everything you could wish for, for a cosy retreat. A lovely big, comfy bed overlooking open fields and big sky through one window and the pretty garden through the French windows. There were so many homely and thoughtful touches - biscuits, sweets (jelly babies were a hit), all types of tea and coffee, cereals, fresh yogurts, prepared fruit, bread, butter (cut into little cubes), a scented candle, CDs and DVDs, wifi & TV, table and chairs and dressing table, coffee machine, toaster and kettle, lots of information, books and magazines. There is nice modern bathroom with shower not bath. Everything was extremely clean. I literally didn't leave the cabin except for dog walks from the house for 3 days! It was so peaceful. Jo and Steve couldn't do enough for me and I felt very at home hibernating at the bottom of their garden! My old Labrador and me would definitely return for an escape from the big smoke! not forgetting the stunning countryside surrounding the handful of houses...breathtaking.

  • Couldn’t have asked for a better stay at Jo’s Cabin. The cabin was sparkling clean and the breakfast was perfect. The location is so serene and peaceful and yet only a 10 minute drive to lots of pubs and shops. These hosts go the extra mile, offering to drop us off to collect our car to in the rain. Their communication was excellent and they didn’t hesitate to answer any questions. We will definitely come and stay again - thank you!

    Ben2020-02-21T00:00:00Z

The Old Granary is just across the courtyard from our farm house and is totally self contained. It is a huge open plan room with exposed beams, wooden floor, rugs, an extremely comfortable sofa bed, a mezzanine with two single mattresses suitable for agile extra guests, a kitchenette and a lovely shower room. There is an enormous bookcase which guests are welcome to borrow from during their stay and a equally large flat screen TV with Sky.
The double sofa bed has a mattress topper and is incredibly comfortable. There is a steep set of stairs that access the open mezzanine so the single beds are only suitable for agile guests who are not going to sleepwalk! Good head height though and again comfy mattresses with duvets and blankets. We provide a choice of continental breakfast, yoghurt, home made fruit compote and granola or Bacon Butty. There is tea, coffee, (Nespresso machine) milk and sugar in the kitchenette for you to help yourself. NB there are no cooking facilities in the barn. Most of our guests take advantage of the fabulous pubs in the area as well as a decent selection of takeaways!
East Harting is at the foot of the South Downs. The walking is endless and breathtaking. Goodwood race course and motor circuit is 20 minutes away, Cowdray Polo is 15 minutes away. There are 3 excellent pubs within striking distance and Chichester with its renown theatre and cathedral is just over the top of The Downs.
  • We had a lovely short stay at Natasha's stylish cosy place. The kids had a great time sleeping in the upstairs nook. The breakfast was a lovely touch, as were the helpful local tips. We'd love to be back in better weather!

  • A wonderfully quirky and warm space to stay, we recently stayed here for a night away and it was the perfect space for a short break. Wonderfully clean, with delightful design touches the place looks fantastic. The facilities were excellent and all in working order, and the bacon rolls for breakfast were delicious. Would recommend staying here to anyone, and Natasha was a fantastic host.

    Stuart2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Natasha’s place is just perfect for a stay in West Sussex. The Granary is beautifully laid out with plenty of room and enough amenities to ensure a perfect stay. Location is perfect not far from the A3 and easy to get to Chichester which takes 15 to 20 minutes. Natasha makes the stay really comfortable like being at a friends house. Lovely touches surround you; a comfortable bed tea and coffee in the kitchenette and toiletries in the shower room I’m sure will be back.

Close to historic market town of Petersfield, and within Southdowns National Park. On train line to London or the coast. Many good pubs and eatery's nearby. Twice weekly market. A clean and modern bungalow with relaxing garden area, and ample parking on our drive.
John and Fi enjoy socialising with our many friends in our bar HMS Cava Shack in the garden!. Come and relax in the evening sunshine. We look forward to welcoming new friends and hope you will enjoy our home. We endeavour to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Our home is just 5 minutes walk from Petersfield Lake, which is a lovely walk. You can feed the ducks, or in the summer go out in a rowing boat or canoe. Most picturesque. The Plump Duck is a 5 star (trip advisor) cafe over looking the lake.

  • Always good to stay at John & Fiona's home. Great hosts.

    Peter2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and tidy place with welcoming hosts. Accommodation is a double bedroom on the ground floor with a toilet and shower next door, so this could suit people with mobility issues. Breakfast was self-service with a choice of cereals, a fruit salad, yogurt and toast - ample to set you up for the day. The hosts live on the premises so checking in and out was very easy. I don't have a car, but I think there is enough space on their drive for a car, alternatively you could park on the street. It's about a 30 minute walk into town where there are shops and restaurants. There is a small shop nearby.

  • We recommend Buddhika's place to stay unreservedly. We hugely enjoyed a longer stay there with our exceptionally welcoming hosts Buddhika and Dan who not only anticipated our every need, but throughout made us feel so at home and that nothing was too much trouble in making us comfortable. Great tips on local dining and places to visit! We also benefited greatly from a private covered driveway and entrance door leading onto a stylish large bedroom with excellent facilities, along with a stunning garden view. With their peaceful and welcoming home set amongst stunning countryside and villages and in being close to the market town of Petersfield we feel we found the the perfect place to stay with the best of hosts! Return is a must for us.

My place is a detached house with private driveway, close to South Downs National Park. We are 20 min drive from Portsmouth and the historic shipyard or 30 min drive from Winchester with its Cathedral and shopping, Guildford or Chichester and Goodwood. You’ll love my place because of it's homely and cosy. We are a friendly couple with loads of local knowledge and lots of ideas of where to eat, drink and visit. My place is good for couples, friends, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
Your room is on the ground flour with its own en suite shower, toilet and sink. There is plenty of space to hang your clothes and there is a dressing table for working at or doing your make up. The bathroom has a over mirror light with shaving socket both 110v and 240v. There is a radiator in the bedroom and towel rail in the bathroom both have there own controls for adjusting heat.
Liss is a small village with a few shops including a Tesco's Express, Boots and various independent shops. Petersfield is only 5 mins drive and is an old market town. It has a great selection of independent shops and a few chain stores. There is a weekly market on Wednesdays and Saturdays and a monthly Farmers Market on Sundays. Petersfield also hosts a variety of events throughout the year. There is a local pub within walking distance that offers home cooked food. Or if you are happy to jump in the car there are a huge choice of places to eat and drink. Very happy to recommend a few places. If you are in to walking, road biking or mountain biking we have direct access to some great trails. There is also a downhill mountain biking trail just down the road.
  • Fantastic little accomodation. Perfect for a short stopove. Lovely comfortable space with its own private en-suite. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Would thoroughly recommend.

Lovely private open plan studio in glorious surroundings beneath the South Downs. It is light, airy and very peaceful with stunning views and a private outside seating area. A footpath leads straight from the garden to the South Downs Way and exceptional walking/cycling. There is a celebrated pub, The Three Horseshoes, within walking distance serving great food and local beers. Goodwood (motor and horse racing) is 20 minutes and Midhurst (Cowdray castle) is 6.5 miles. Chichester is 12 miles.
Dear All, Please forgive the need to close for the month of April, at this time being in accordance with government and W.H.O guidelines. As soon as there is better news the BnB will be joyously open and ready for your bookings. Take care of each other and see you soon, Jess The barn is spacious, open plan living with a separate bathroom (overall 980 square feet) with 2 double French doors (south and west) making it super light and airy inside. The kitchen is very well kitted out with all the utensils, pots, pans and crockery you could need for cooking. It has a microwave oven, fan oven, hot plates, large fridge/freezer, n'espresso machine, cafetière (coffee press), toaster, kettle, nutri-bullet, blender, magimix and a dish washer. The accommodation comprises a double bed and a single bed (see below for measurements ) making room for 2 adults and 1 child, or for 3 adults: King sized bed 5' (153 cm) x 6’ 6 (200cm) memory foam mattress. Crushed linen sheets. Single bed measuring 3’ (92cm) X 6’3 (190cm) Memory foam mattress, crushed linen sheets. I also have a travel cot should you need. I can put a spare mattress out on the floor if you wanted to put up another child for a small fee to cover the extra laundry/cleaning time. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower, shaving sockets, a heated towel rail and a wall mounted fan heater to make it toasty in the winter. I provide lots of little extras like dressing gowns, slippers and hot water bottles, shampoos, soaps, a hairdryer and some other essential toiletries, plenty of toilet rolls and lots of towels. There are 3 sofas and a big coffee table, making it very comfortable for spreading out and relaxing. A 40" TV with DVD player, a large dining table with 6 chairs and a gorgeous functioning wood burning stove. There's also a picnic cooler bag and a picnic rug for the warmer months and deck chairs in the garden. There is a safe and a radio/CD player. Tha BnB is insulated and really cosy (heated) in the winter and lovely and cool in the summer. I have ordnance survey maps of the area for planning walks which you can take straight from the garden.
Elsted lies in a pocket of beautiful countryside that winds beneath the stunning South Downs. The pretty Anglican parish church shows rare remnants of Norman herringbone construction and a small and un-powered 13th century shepherds' church lies a mile down the winding lane. The Three Horseshoes is a wonderful pub, minutes from the studio by foot and has been an Inn for some 400 years. The Farm setting here boasts big skies and often wonderful displays of stars at night with a 180 degree view of the South Downs right from the studio. The pretty Market towns of Petersfield and Midhurst lie 10 minutes equidistant. Chichester with its medieval cathedral, Fishbourne Roman Palace, world famous Festival Theatre, art galleries and restaurants, is 12 miles to the south. Goodwood racecourse (one of the most idyllic race course settings in the world) and motor circuit is also very near and well worth a visit, particularly during Festival of Speed, Revival and Glorious Goodwood. Just beyond Chichester is the beautiful beach at West Wittering and East Head where you can grab fish and chips on the beach or go to Billy's Beach Bar a mile away in East Wittering. The White Horse at Chilgrove (7 miles) has wonderful food and a lovely jazz trio who play on Sundays.

We provide a traditional BnB, in our beautiful self-contained annexe, with its own separate entrance, looking out onto our private landscaped garden, through which the Ashford Stream flows. We're in a quiet picturesque village, on the edge of the Petersfield Market town, great for the South Downs National Park. We are also within walking distance (~25 minutes) of the train station/town centre. Several excellent pubs in the village. And Bedales School, 8 mins, and Goodwood 30 mins drive.
We aim to provide a friendly and open place to stay, where you will feel home from home in our annexe that we designed and built ourselves. Whether you are on your own, with a partner, or have up to 4 children, we can accommodate you. You will have your own entrance into a double height space with a mezzanine bedroom above. We provide an en-suite bathroom, in an African style, with a shower, basin and toilet. [Note that this isn't a long-drop!] SLEEPING Upstairs there are a double bed, and two single beds, with the option of a two more that are stored underneath. Downstairs, there is a double sofa bed. It is equipped with two small fridges, microwave, toaster, kettle, halogen oven, small table top oven and hob, slow cooker, and induction hob with one ring. IMPORTANT: We provide equipment for simple meals, for up to four people, but please note that cooking for 6 guests might be a struggle due to the size of the appliances. FAMILY We even have a cupboard of toys and children's books, another cupboard of board games, many family friendly DVDs, and novels, and child play equipment in the garden. You look out on our own private, mature landscaped garden with it's own stream. It really is home from home. We provide all bedding, towels, and hand soap, but please bring your own toiletries.
Sheet is a quiet and picturesque village, which is a sought after location due to its proximity to Petersfield, Bedales School, and Goodwood. We are located in the beautiful countryside of the South Downs National Park, with horse riding, walking and cycling on your doorstep. Portsmouth is a half-hour drive away, with its historic dockyard, shopping at Gunwharf Quays, and ferries to France and the Isle of Wight.
  • This was my second stay at Marie's lovely annexe - it's perfectly placed for exploring the local countryside and Petersfield.

    Sarah2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect stay in Maries apartment, great social space, very comfortable and amazing bread in the morning is a really lovely touch! Great local pub only a few minutes walk away and nice walk up Shoulder of Mutton Hill, apart from the mud.. Thanks Maire x

  • This is a great place to stay. I just needed a two-night stay in the area to catch up with friends and attend a lecture locally, in between doing so, I wanted somewhere peaceful and restful to stay. Marie's place was perfect for that. It poured with rain the entire day I was there but I was able to read a book and look out onto the beautiful garden from the sofa. The double bed I slept in was very comfortable. The things I especially loved about Marie's place were: 1) The African style shower with the remarkable comfortable pebble-base and the rain shower, which when it rains outside on the glass roof above, makes it seem like you are showering in the open but are still warm! 2) The underfloor heating in the shower room. 3) The freshly baked bread that Marie brings on your first morning!

    Caroline2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Marie's place is a great, cool place to stay; it's got a relaxed vibe and has some lovely features (many of them linked to her time in South Africa). Its location is excellent - in a lovely village (with pub) and close to Petersfield, which has loads of lovely cafes and places to hang out. Hope to return.

    Sarah2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was a brief overnight trip during half term- originally we were hoping to see some stars as part of the South Downs dark skies - Marie went out of her way to discover local information about this before we had even confirmed our booking. The weather was cloudy but we decided we would have a mini break anyway and I am very glad we did. Luxurious stylish place to stay- very comfortable for 4 of us. Marie suggested The Queens Head for dinner which was fabulous- lovely old pub full of character- we should have booked even though it was 7pm on a Wednesday! Delicious pizzas, burgers, risotto served with a friendly welcome. And only a few minutes walk away. Breakfast was another highlight- what a treat to have a whole freshly baked loaf of bread. It feels like we’ve had a mini holiday- thank you very much

    Rachel2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend in Marie's home. The decorations in the house is lovely, Marie and Angus are very kind to us. The bread provided for breakfast is delicious as well. Recommended.

  • Amazing place to stay in all aspects !

    Victoria2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Marie goes beyond the call of duty. There are lots of little notes around the rooms giving advice about the smallest of details. She really cares about your experience during the stay. We were welcomed on our second morning with a freshly baked loaf of homemade bread. Where else would we have been treated so thoughtfully. There is a small but very practical kitchen area which enabled us to cook and eat without going to restaurants. With a young baby this was very welcome. There are an abundance of toys that kept our little one amuzed which was just super. A truly wonderful host and a super space where you can come and go independently which is what we like.

The Cabin replaced our old tumbledown sheds. It is completely separate from the main dwelling and has far reaching views to the South Downs. There is one double bed in the main area and in the mezzanine, there are two single beds which can be linked together and become a double. Goodwood (Racing), Midhurst (Polo), Chichester (theatre), South Downs Way (walking / mountain biking) are all within easy reach.
The Studio is an oak clad building. Inside, there is a vaulted ceiling which gives way to bare wooden beams. A solid fuel burner keeps the cabin cosy in the dark, winter months. The Studio has its own entrance and there is ample parking at the front of the main dwelling. There is a safe area where guests can leave bicycles over night next to the main house. If you are searching for a little extra space or somewhere quiet away from a busy family home then the 'Cabin' offers a perfect staycation or a work-from-home alternative.
Our position here is special. We are just over one hour from London by car and it takes about 25 minutes to get to the seaside. We are in the heart of the South Downs National Park. There is something for everyone; walking, mountain biking, riding, or paragliding are all possible if you are an adrenaline junkie(!) whilst on the other hand, the Chichester Festival Theatre is not far; racing at Goodwood, Polo at Cowdray (Midhurst) are all here. We are equi-distant between Petersfield and Midhurst and there are some excellent places to dine out, some typical country pubs or simply just independent cafes and coffee shops if you just want to watch the world go by...
  • This place is incredibly beautiful, clean and quiet, amazing view. Perfect !!

  • We had a lovely two night stay in Cathy's Airbnb- it was lovely and cosy with lots of space for two. The breakfasts with hot food options are a lovely touch, and the location is great for walks and the coast. We would definitely recommend this place to other travellers!

    Nikhita2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay here on a weekend getaway from London. Cathy is a brilliant hostess and made the whole stay so special with breakfast cooked fresh every morning, and a whole host of thoughtful touches from freshly made jams and cakes to toiletries, slippers, dressing gowns and even an umbrella for our rather wet stay! The barn is even better than the pictures with views right over the garden and fields and with no one below you, so completely peaceful too. We did lots of walking and had a wonderful meal at the Three Horseshoes in Elsted. If it’s a sunny day, don’t miss their beer garden and chickens! Overall one of our favourite Airbnb stays, we will definitely be back!

    Sarah2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful find. A quaint little retreat in the beautiful countryside, great amenities, Cathy's homemade brownies were simply divine and the granola was also next level. Highly recommend staying here, we had the most relaxing weekend away.

This stunning barn conversion is located on working farm in the heart of the South Downs National Park. Located in a small, tranquil hamlet just 3 miles from the historical market town of Petersfield. Regular trains take an hour into Central London.
The property comprised of a master bedroom with en suite and a further twin bedroom with bathroom. • Rolling countryside views set in a very peaceful location. The cottage is spacious and comfortable, with underfloor heating. We worked here one day during our stay and the WiFi was perfect. There is so much wildlife all around, we spotted deer, hare, woodpecker, and hedgerow birds during our stay. The stars at night are beautiful too.

This wonderful building, started in the 60’s by Edward Barnsley, was finished more recently and remains in the family. Adjacent to the Barnsley workshops, which remain operational to this day. It stands in the grounds of The Bee House, where poet Edward Thomas wrote many of his poems. The garden falls straight into the South Downs Hangars, with direct access to fantastic woodland walks with spectacular views, whilst minimal light pollution makes the night skies perfect for star-gazing.
The Folly comprises of an open plan living and kitchen area. In the living room there is a sofa bed that can be used as a double if needed. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bedroom has a double bed. The wet room has a shower, sink and toilet.
The Folly sits in the garden of The Bee House. Surrounded by woods which are part of the South Downs. There are many great walks that can lead to many great pubs. Our closest being The Trooper followed by The Pub With No Name. Froxfield village is also known as Little Switzerland. We are the highest village in Hampshire. Some mornings you can wake up and be above the clouds! Everyone who has stayed at The Folly regardless of the weather have been mesmerised by the view.
  • Sharyn's place is beautiful - we loved being able to sit and look out across the stunning landscape regardless of the weather! The breakfast had a great selection of options, there were fresh flowers in the kitchen, the communication and check-in was smooth and the kitchen was well-equipped. Definitely recommend!

The folly is top of our list after many years of staying in some really wonderful places on Airbnb. Sharyn went over and above to make our stay special. There is some thoughtful items in every corner and it was so nice to have local produce included so we didn’t need to bring food. Also I’m not sure if she will be annoyed at us for saying this but she arranged a surprise roast dinner all ready and left in the oven for our return after a walk. She offered to do this when my other half told her it was my birthday. What a nice smell to return to and the small detail of laying out the table, supplying a menu and choosing a super bottle of wine, all at a very reasonable rate. And yes let’s not forget dessert...wow !! A message to anyone considering this fantastic piece of heaven, do it !!Thank you so much for a perfect stay.

  • What an utterly stunning place. Views are even better than the photos. Great hospitality and lovely little extra touches. Pub within walking distance and entrance to the nature reserve at the end of the road. We'll definitely be back! Thanks Sharyn & Nick!

  • Amazing space and amazing views! Sharyn and her family made our stay really special for our anniversary and we can’t recommend this place more, we didn’t want to leave! We will definitely be coming back!

    Katherine2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • A very special place in a stunning location. Sharyn provided lots of extra touches to make a stay comfortable and interesting, such as binoculars, torches, local maps and guides, and mini Jaffa cakes! We hope to be able to return for a longer visit.

  • A unique setting and a very beautiful designed cabin. The Edward Barnsley furniture items are delightful. The whole place breathes style and comfort. Located near pretty Petersfield and a great starting point for hikes, such as in East Meon and Buriton. We enjoyed also the local pub Without a Name and good food and service in the Troopers Inn. Sorry we had to leave after three days... Sharyn made us feel totally at home by giving us exactly the privacy and assistance we needed.

  • We enjoyed a lovely couple of days at the Lodge! Check in was very smooth and Wendy explained everything we needed to know about staying comfortably in the bright, welcoming space. I was delighted by all the birds in the adjacent garden, and the breakfasts Wendy provided were delicious! The bed is very comfortable, always important. The village of Petersfield is just a short walk away, and we enjoyed a couple of dinners out, browsing the shops, and walking to the nearby pond. Plus, the train station is walking distance as well, making it easy for us to get to both London and Portsmouth-ideal! Many thanks to Wendy for creating a comfortable, calm space to stay. We will be back!

  • Wendy is a friendly thoughtful host. The lodge was comfortable and well equipped. Only 5 mins walk from town centre although road is a little dark at night. Lodge also has a nice little patio area which would be pleasant in the summer!

  • Thank you very much, great host, highly recommend.

    Rebecca2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy was a fabulous host, responded quickly to any questions. The lodge was a great get away, pleasant and secluded, great breakfast was a bonus, small touches of toothpaste and body lotion did not go amiss, walking distance to the center of Petersfield. Highly recommend.

  • Super accommodation, spotlessly presented and well thought out features that make Beaufort Lodge homely. Wendy and Reg were very friendly, helpful and approachable. The breakfast was perfect way to end our night’s stay.

    James2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy and Reg were the perfect hosts. We only had an overnight stay in Wendy's immaculate lodge but it was a comfortable and enjoyable 5 star stop over. The lodge is spotless and beautifully furnished. It's within easy walking distance of Petersfield so we ate in one of the excellent restaurants in the town. (La Piazzetta, highly recommended.) The breakfast was delicious! We would highly recommend Beaufort Lodge.

Our cosy annex has been lovingly decorated with my favourite furniture and accessories. Centred around a wood burning stove, the annex is an open studio space with living, dining and sleeping areas within. It has a shower room, and separate toilet. This is the perfect country getaway for a couple or family...we are completely secluded and surrounded by stunning countryside. Nearby market town Petersfield is just 7 minutes drive, and 'the Hangers' is just 10 minutes walk from our door.
Our place is very peaceful and quiet, accessed by a long gravel drive behind big wooden gates. The annex is accessed by a staircase as it is on the first floor of a barn style building.
We are very lucky to have some amazing local pubs within walking distance, like the Queens Head in Sheet, the Harrow and the Cricketers in Steep. Steep Marsh is a small village with just a handful of residents.
  • The annex is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway to the country-side. It is a very tastefully presented flat with thoughtful touches such as shampoo/conditioner and tea. As the weather wasn’t great we spent most of our time relaxing by the fire watching a movie or two! We were very impressed with the check-in process including the pictures to aid self check in. The annex is a short drive from Peterfield or a 20min walk to Sheet (we would highly recommend the Queens head pub).

  • Chestnut lodge is a lovely place to stay to explore the South Downs. We did some great walks a short drive away, using this place as our base. • Philly was warm and hospitable, helping us to feel at home after our long trek on the South downs way. Her house is beautifully furnished and decorated, contemporary, stylish but cosy. The bedroom is at the back of the house, very comfortable and quiet. Everything in the house is done to the highest standard. We enjoyed an amazing dinner at the White Hart, just round the corner -£16 each for two courses and drinks; one of the best fish soups I've ever had. South Harting is a beautiful village at the foot of some of the best parts of the South downs.

  • We had a really lovely stay in Denise's property. The view from the garden is absolutely wonderful, we saw lots of wildlife and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Denise's bungalow is very comfortable, well equipped, and was a great place to stay with a small child. The local pub, the White Hart, is also a great spot, delicious food and very friendly staff. Thank you!

We live in a detached house with private driveway, close to South Downs National Park. Only 20 min drive from Portsmouth and the historic shipyard or 30 min drive from Winchester with its Cathedral and shopping, Guildford or Chichester and Goodwood. You’ll love my place because of it's homely and cosy. We are a friendly couple with loads of local knowledge and lots of ideas of where to eat, drink and visit. My place is good for couples, friends, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
Your room is on the first floor with its own en-suite bath, shower, toilet and sink. There is plenty of space to hang your clothes and there is a chest of drawers for doing your hair and make-up. The bathroom has an over mirror light with shaving socket both 110v and 240v. There are radiators in the bedroom and bathroom both have there own controls for adjusting the heat. We have an extra bed that we can put in the room if needed. There is an additional fee for this.
