**WE WARMLY INVITE YOU FOR A LONG STAY ON THE EDGE OF THE ASHDOWN FOREST. CONTACT US FOR OFFERS** Our beautiful 4-bedroom Chapel is situated on the edge of the Ashdown Forest. Perfect for couples or friends who want a taste of country life with walks in the woods directly from the front gate. Spend nights by a roaring fire or soaking in the hot tub under the stars.
The 19th century Chapel has been stylishly designed by one of the partners, Sally Bourne Interiors of Muswell Hill, London, using luxury Farrow & Ball colours and a mix of modern and original features. With a large entrance hall for coats and shoes, downstairs there are 4 cozy double bedrooms. Each room can be made up as a super king or twin share with two single beds. All the beds have luxury natural mattresses, pure French linen sheets and duck down duvets and pillows (the latter with luxury cotton hypo-allergenic protectors). You'll find 2 separate toilets in the lobby and 2 bathrooms with toilets, baths and in-built showers. A sweeping wooden staircase takes you up to the first floor and the open plan kitchen, dining and living room. The kitchen has a gas hob & oven, fridge, dishwasher and pantry cupboards stocked with the basics. The dining area seats 8 guests. At the far end of the living room, a large wood burning stove is perfect for cosy nights in. The Chapel has wifi access with booster to cover the entire building and TV is digital with Amazon fire stick. The garden features a 6-8 person hot tub, a hot outside shower and a garden table with umbrella that seats 8. You have full and private use of the Chapel and are welcome to spend time in the Chapel garden and hot tub. We live in the adjoining and adjacent properties, so you will occasionally see us around. In respect of the other residents and of our neighbours, the hot tub is available from dawn to 10pm. We love the tranquillity of the forest and that's why we live here, we therefore ask that music is not played outside of the Chapel at any time. The Chapel is in a lane, just off the A22, which makes it very accessible from London and the South Coast. You can hear some traffic noise upstairs or in the garden during rush hours, but evenings are peaceful and the sounds of the hooting owls in the forest take center stage.
Providence Chapel sits right next to the ancient Ashdown Forest, an area of outstanding natural beauty. It's a 15 minute walk into the village of Forest Row. It is 3 miles from the local train station of East Grinstead with bi-hourly connections to London Victoria (approx 1 hour), 20 minutes from Gatwick and 45 minutes from Brighton. The idyllic village is home to local shops, pubs, restaurants, craft fairs and art exhibitions. It’s an alternative beacon with the Michael Hall School (one of the longest established Steiner Schools in the UK) and Emerson College, providing adult education and learning that integrates the spiritual, social and practical dimensions of life and work. There are 2 award-winning biodynamic and organic farms - Tablehurst Farm and Plaw Hatch Farm - which both have cafes and shops where you can buy organic produce. In the heart of the village, the Cyrnel Bakery provides daily freshly baked organic breads and cakes, and The Seasons health food shop offers a range of organic produce. There are many local stately homes to visit, including Standen house. The beautiful Wakehurst Place is worth a visit as well as Hever Castle. For families (and big kids!), just 10 minutes away is Pooh Corner, where you can visit Piglet’s Tea Room and Garden and get your ‘Pooh-phernalia’ in the shop. The Bluebell Railway and Sheffield park are nearby. For the keen golfers, the Royal Ashdown Forest Club is 1 mile from the village. For the sailors, Weir Wood reservoir and sailing club is a mile and a half away. There are regular events such as country shows, antique fairs and car boot sales in the surrounding area.
  • Wonderful second stay at the chapel. Lien was very accommodating, excellent communication and the little touches in the chapel are great. Hot tub, fire and comfy beds are all perfect!

  • A fantastic Xmas stay with the family... with wonderful walks.

    Emma2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lien’s place is stylish, spacious and very comfortable. We really enjoyed the space, particularly the hot tub, which looks brand new! I made an error with the original booking and Lien was really great in helping me to get it sorted. We would definitely stay again.

    Lily2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • The chapel is the perfect mix of spacious and cosy, luxurious and relaxed, stylish and simple. Lien was really helpful with our booking, sorting extra table settings for our family gathering. We arrived to a lit fire, freshly picked flowers, eggs from the hens and other little extras. We hope to return.

    Liz2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous place and a really warm welcome. Highly recommended. The hot tub was perfect. The place was immaculately clean with some eggs and Prosecco as welcome gift was such a nice touch. Loved exploring the area.

    Julia2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful minibreak at the lovely, stylish Providence Chapel. Loved everything about our stay: wonderful host; thoughtful extra touches like the fresh bread, wine, eggs, etc; very comfortable beds with feather pillows, duvets & linen sheets; the splendid twice-daily hot tub relaxation; perfectly located, near the forest and also easy to find; fabulous sitting room space for a sociable family get-together, including the cosy wood burning stove. I would highly recommend this accommodation and hope very much to stay again in the not-too-distant future.

    Catherine2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brilliant weekend at the chapel. Lien has made an amazing job of refurbishing & renovating the property to a high standard & it is beautiful. We were all very comfortable & really appreciated the extra touches such as fresh eggs & home-baked bread. We would definitely visit again & recommend the venue as a lovely place for a small group looking for something a bit different & luxurious. The hot-tub was a huge hit! Many thanks to Lien for her hospitality!

Peacefully set in over 4 acres of beautiful Victorian gardens with views over rolling English countryside, the Bothy is a private, homely standalone dwelling in a pretty courtyard setting. Spacious, comfy and characterful with shower room & kitchen/dining areas to enjoy breakfast. Just 5 mins from M23 & Balcombe/Ardingly & 15 mins to Gatwick. Quick easy access to London & Brighton. Great walking and close to Wakehurst and other famous gardens. Wifi & Freeview TV. Tasty homemade cake on arrival!
The Bothy is a light, clean, airy and quiet south-facing studio apartment over a large garage outbuilding, the east facing wall of which dates back to Victorian times when it formed part of the façade of a historic manor house which sadly burnt down in 1939. An earlier 17th century house on the same site was home to the Balcombe family after whom the village was named. They subsequently emigrated to America. The Bothy forms part of an attractive courtyard drive with our house adjacent and looks over the beautiful Victorian gardens in which we hope you will find time to relax and enjoy. The gardens offer breath-taking views across the valley towards Balcombe village and beyond. There is plenty of secure parking right in front of the building. The Bothy has its own private front door which opens into a small hall with stairs up to the accommodation. There is a good-sized separate shower room with loo, basin and plenty of toiletries and soft towels. In addition to the comfy king size bed with large end drawers for clothes storage there is a surprisingly comfortable single sofa bed. There is a cosy sitting area and a small dining table and chairs, a perfect area to work or enjoy your breakfast. A small wardrobe with shelf and hanging space offers more storage if needed. There is a kitchen area with a characterful dresser where crockery, glassware and cutlery is stored, as well as cereals, breads and a large variety of teas and coffees - including freshly ground coffee and a cafetiere. A half-size fridge contains fresh milk and orange juice, a selection of breakfast breads, butter and a range of delicious homemade jams (from fruits grown in the garden. There is a microwave, toaster and kettle - everything you need to prepare a delicious breakfast. The Bothy has a hairdryer, a steam iron and an ironing board. There are two wonderful old heirloom trunks full of games and puzzles for you to enjoy on that rainy day or quiet night in. There is a bedside digital radio and a 32" LCD TV, a humax freeview box and wifi. In addition there is a 5.1 surround sound cinema audio system with HD projector, Blu-ray player and airplay connectivity - this is available by prior agreement (and a bit of training from my husband!)
The Bothy offers peace and tranquillity in a truly beautiful rural setting yet it is only 15 minutes from Gatwick airport and with Balcombe station close at hand you can easily travel by train, whether it be up to London (40 minutes) or down to Brighton (25 minutes). A car is recommended, however. We are in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where wonderful walks are in abundance right from your door. Wakehurst Gardens (part of Kew Gardens) with the famous Millennium Seed Bank and the village of Ardingly with the South of England Showground and reservoir are all close at hand to the east, with Balcombe lake and the beautiful surrounding rolling countryside to the west, interspersed with many well-maintained footpaths. The large-scale maps in The Bothy will help you to explore this wonderful area and to plan any good walks but we do ask that you do not take them with you.
  • I’ve stayed in this lovely property before. It’s very clean, comfortable and peaceful. Rosie is a lovely host and the amenities are great.

    Joanne2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • When I left today, I was a little bit reluctant. Rosie's accommodation was very warm and warm. My daughter and I loved a variety of cereal breakfast, milk, juice, bread! And delicious jams of every taste! Everything! Rosie has a large garden, cute 2 dogs, my daughter will run around the garden with the dog. During the stay, Rosie gave us a lot of help and made us feel at home in a foreign country. Thank you very much Rosie! Next time you come to the UK, you will definitely come to see you! love you!

  • Great place for a weekend away. Self-contained accommodation, with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside - as well as large comfy bed, sparkling clean shower room and breakfast provisions provided. Lots of lovely touches, such as fresh flowers in the room. Warm welcome from our hosts. Highly recommend.

    Anna2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rosie and her loft are absolutely delightful! We were welcomed in the rain with offers to assist with luggage, only to discover homemade cake and a number of special touches to make us feel welcome. Once the rain cleared, we enjoyed walking around her property's beautifully landscaped gardens, which includes Sussex's majestic oldest cedar. What is so incredible about this peaceful country retreat is its close proximity not only to pubs & beautiful scenery, but to Gatwick airport. I can't imagine a more pleasant place to stay before a trip, and will certainly be bookmarking Rosie's place for future trips.

  • This gorgeous cottage was the perfect spot for a much needed getaway. The decor is warm and cosy, there’s plenty of space and a real kitchen- not just a microwave and kettle! The location is ideal for local pubs and walks but also for exploring further afield to London or Brighton. It was spotlessly clean and so easy to keep warm with central heating and a fire. We will certainly visit again! Ed was an excellent host with quick and clear communications, and gave us space to just enjoy our time away. Thanks Ed!

    Erin2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a little gem, in the beautiful Sussex countryside. A very comfortable cottage with its own garden & an added bonus of a log fire for the cold evenings. Will mention stairs to the 1 bedroom are on the steep side for those with mobility probs. Otherwise a cosy, very clean, well equipped & especially comfortable cottage. Ed is there if you need any help. But we liked it as were left to let ourselves in to discover & were able to relax. Thank you! We'd love to visit again!!

    Louise & Robert2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is cosy, very clean, authentic and modern at the same time! The fireplace made the experience even better! It was a pleasure to stay there and we highly recommend it! Ed was very welcoming and approachable! PS Ardingly cafe is 2mins walk from the cottage - a nice place for breakfast!

  • Such a pretty little cottage; a cosy home away from home with everything you could need.

    Barbara2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • A really quaint cottage in a perfect location. Close to pub, an excellent Chinese takeaway, bakery and post office selling essentials. The bed is super comfortable. Parking is on road but we found a space easily and there’s a free car park nearby if you prefer. Some low doors so watch your head. Bring milk and other essentials or go to post office. Great communication from host. Overall we loved it.

  • Amazing place to meet up with friends, Owners are really friendly and put just enough touches on the cottage to make it really cosy , fantastic local pubs and added bonus it was all dog friendly. Cant wait to visit again.

  • We had a great stay in Carolyn & Gordon's cottage. They are very friendly and accommodating, they even lent us some toys for our children. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is in a great location for exploring the local area.

    Johanna2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This home was perfect for my husband and I and our adult son. It is a very comfortable home and Carolyn has added some very welcoming touches for our arrival. A bonus for my husband was that we were able to walk to the local pub in under 5 minutes. We would stay here again next time we are in the area.

    Nicky2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a little piece of paradise. We absolutely did not want to leave :) Beautiful from the inside and out, a perfect cosy cottage hideaway with all the comforts you need - kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher; lounge with netflix and a log-fire; gorgeous master bedroom with ensuite and comfy spare sofa bed and downstairs loo. The village is picture postcard quaint and simply walking through the gardens of the cottage is delightful. Carolyn and Gordon are such lovely hosts and so helpful too - there was a problem with the oven and they fixed it without any stress even though it was the weekend. They left so many nice touches like croissants and jam, milk, cooking oils and sauces. Things like that make a big difference to a trip and were much appreciated. We really enjoyed our time cooking, relaxing and drinking wine during a rainy January, and would recommend this Air bnb to anyone. Although we really would want to keep it to ourselves!

    Sophie2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for 2 couples. Everyone loved there stay, plenty of space but cozy cottage feel with a great wood burner, all amenities covered. 5 min walk to a beautiful 16th century pub (the cat) would definitely stay again, a hidden gem.

  • Beautiful cottage is a stunning area, we were made to feel extremely welcome. The cottage has a log burner which is a bonus especially in the winter. Really good space, we felt so comfortable here. Dog friendly aswel which was amazing so we could bring along our dog. Would highly recommend and would love to return here in the future!

    Kylie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely beautiful cottage in a stunning location. The hosts are so helpful and friendly - could not ask for more! Definitely worth every penny and would recommend to everyone. Was perfect for a winter break but would be equally amazing in summer. The log burner was a winner with us, especially in January! This property, and the hosts - could not be faulted.

    Millie2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay over New Year’s Eve. It exceeded our expectations, was peaceful and secluded away from life’s hustle and bustle. Check in instructions were very good and Carolyn met us to show us in (with dog strokes included). The cottage is very comfy with comfy sofa and very soft bed. The kitchen has everything you need with an extra home from home feel. Amazon fire stick with the TV was great too. The garden is very secure if you have a dog too. Lots of nice touches and unique cottage indeed, really good value. Thanks.

  • The room was spotless and was spacious enough for our two dogs to stay with us. We were able to walk the dogs nearby as well which was convenient. Jane our host was kind enough to give us some lovely croissants for breakfast. This is very convenient location to get around Sussex but in a beautifully peaceful location.

  • A great stay and a lovely location, highly recommend! If you’re lucky there will even be a dog.

  • What a beautiful place! Jane was very welcoming and accommodating, sharing a tip on the local eateries to ensure we didn’t get caught out. The accommodation is perfect, comfortable, bright, airy, spacious with beautiful views. The weather was quite cold and we were very warm inside! Would highly recommend and look forward to staying again.

    Tom2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely bedroom and bathroom with beautiful views and a great local 3 minutes drive away. The only thing that could be improved (which Jane acknowledged) was that metal stairs are not very dog friendly due to their open nature. I suggested that a dog friendly strip of artificial turf be put to one side of the steps which Jane said that she would look into 🙂.

    Andrew2019-10-28T00:00:00Z

  • I couldn’t have asked for better hosts than Tina and Colin. It was like living home from home. Great to chat to, great for support, and make some great food! I was actually sad to be leaving to go home after 6 weeks and would love to stay with them again given the chance

    Lauren2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Tina and Colins house was made absolutely easy by their warm welcome and beautiful sparkling clean and stylish home. I received a warm welcome and my hosts were the most friendly and interesting people to chat to. They thought of everything I might need while staying away on a work trip, which was most helpful. The village is quiet and peaceful, and the house is easy to find. Really nice that I could park in the drive and there’s a separate door for guests too. Lovely 😊

    Caroline2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Tina and her husband Collin, are really outstanding good hosts. They welcomed me like a member of the family from the very first moment i arrived, they gave me the support i´ve needed to find their adress late in the evening, because I have had difficulties to find the house. The whole house is very beautifull, clean, with a great view into the distance from the living room. It was exact what I needed for me to regenerate for some days. So .... I rrally higly recommend staying with them. I def. will come back when I am around again....

Meadowview is in the centre of Forest Row, a thriving and energetic village at the heart of the Ashdown Forest, (A.A. Milne's 'Winnie-the-Pooh' country.) As well as the unique and totally wonderful yoga studio, (Yard Yoga) literally 4 minutes’ walk away, there is the Royal Ashdown golf course, fabulous country walks, great bicycling, (forest way- country park)and the huge Weirwood reservoir, (boating available) all very near. Also Michael Hall Steiner-Waldorf school 5 mins by car /20 min walk.
The bedroom is pretty basic, hopefully will attract people interested in exploring the surrounding countryside, using the room as a handy place to sleep. There is a blackout blind in the only window, which is a ceiling Velux. The blind can be a bit tricky to open and close, there is a long pole with a hook on the end for this purpose! (Also used for opening and closing the window! )You have exclusive use of the Bathroom. Kitchen is available for teas /coffees/ hot chocolate and use of the microwave oven/ toaster/ lunch / dinner prep., etc...Guests are welcome to use fridge to store food if desired.
Meadow View is sandwiched between the fabulous Java and Jazz, specialising in Pizza, fantastic coffee, real Italian Ice cream from Italy, and the Chequers Inn; (There has been an Inn on the site since 1452!!! ) Forest Row is really a thriving place, and boasts many very special features. There is Yard Yoga, (a fantastic yoga studio,) Tablehurst farm,( a biodynamic and organic farm,) just a few minutes walk away. We also have an award winning fish shop in the village (Veasey and sons), the marvellous ‘Seasons’, selling local biodynamic and organic vegetables and “Gaia” for essential oils and herbalists. The hopyard brewery is right beneath Yard Yoga, and run by the same family.
  • Anna was a charming host, with several personal touches to make me feel welcome. Perfect location for me.

    Christine2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Pleasant stay at Anna's! Anna was not present but we had a very good contact with her by message. (Room and common conform to photos and clean)

    Chloe2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you love art and music in particular, don’t miss Anna’s place. Everithing was perfect for me and for my 9 years old son.

  • Perfect location bang in the middle of a bustling village, stylish flat, very friendly hostess, slept like a baby!

    Moshe2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The location suited us very well. The pubs, shops, restaurants and petrol station are just few steps away, but we weren't disturbed by any noise. The bed was comfortable as a cloud :-) Anna is very friendly and welcoming person. She took care of us for the whole time. We would definitely come again.

    Eliska2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Anna’s place is a real find. It’s in the centre of Forest Row so very close to nice restaurants and shops but it’s also very quiet and peaceful and rather original. It has very high ceilings with wooden beams and on the hottest weekend of the year was lovely and cool at night. I highly recommend Anna’s place and better still Anna herself is delightful and the perfect host.

Self-contained oak cabin with double bed, shower and kitchenette. Tucked in amongst the trees on the edge of woodland at the back of our semi-rural property, the cabin has a private deck area with views across the neighbour's field where sheep and horses graze. You may also see deer and rabbits and be serenaded by tawny owls in the evening. Breakfast hamper included. Very close to the South of England showground, in walking distance of Wakehurst Place, local pubs and close to Ardingly College.
Newly built by a local craftsman and fitted to a very high standard, the cabin is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is close enough to London and Brighton for overnight and weekend trips. It makes a great base for those wanting to explore the beautiful Sussex countryside. There is a wood-burning stove with a plentiful supply of logs as well as an alternative electric heater. The layout is similar to a shepherd's hut but more spacious and with a vaulted ceiling. The bathroom has underfloor heating, a walk-in shower, heated towel rail, sink and toilet. The kitchen features a two-ring electric hob, fridge, sink and microwave. Included in the price, we provide the basics for breakfast including bread, jam, cereals, coffee and tea. There is a Nespresso coffee machine for you to enjoy a morning cappuccino. We are a short walk from two pubs which serve great meals and a cafe for breakfasts, brunch and lunches. In the village there is also a Chinese take away, bakers (great bread) and post office. We can provide maps and ideas for local walking routes. The cabin has a luxury new Eve double bed with high quality Egyptian cotton bedding. There is full internet access and a smart TV with the Netflix /Amazon app (your own log in required). There is a desk for use if needed for work. The area is ideal for hikers and cyclists and we can arrange bike storage if needed. It is suitable for overnight stays or longer term for people working in the area.
The nearest pub is the Gardner's Arms which is 5 minutes walk away. Good food and very popular - advance booking recommended at the weekends. Please note that there is no supermarket in the village. It's best to bring groceries with you if you plan to cook in the cabin.
  • Jo and Daniel's place is exactly as described and more! Perfect for our weekend get away. Everything is super high quality and it was immaculately clean. The wood burning stove made the place extra cozy and the wifi and Netflix made it the perfect relaxing night in for us. Jo and Daniel are excellent hosts from communication, fresh bread and all the other breakfast items you could hope for. Every detail was carefully thought out and this was by far one of the best air-bnbs we have every stayed in. Highly recommended!

    Karen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful little cabin. Beautifully decorated. Very comfortable spacious bed. Lots of extra touches and everything you need for a lovely stay - my visit was short but delightful and peaceful, would have loved to stay longer and make the most of the space and the area. The only downside is that I happened to stay during stormy weather, which made for a noisy night and the road is a little closer than I expected, but otherwise it was so tranquil and just exactly what I needed. It was especially lovely looking out at the neighbouring farm, having the fire and a pot of tea on the go. Gorgeous breakfast with lots of options. Got lots of writing and reading done too. Jo and Daniel were very accommodating and attentive to details. Great hosts! All round lovely air bnb, would stay again.

    Jasmine2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay. We stayed in a storm and watched the pheasant and sheep. Help myself to wild garlic to add to our dinner. Very good access to Wakehurst Place. Good pubs nearby. Super hospitable and thoughtful hosts.

  • The lodge was an amazing break from London life. Jo and Daniel recommended places before we arrived (the cat inn was delicious!) and had added thoughtful touches to our stay. Lovely breakfast and treats! We couldn’t believe how nice the cabin was. Thank you so much and hopefully we will be visiting again!

    Katie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend. The log burner made the place so cosy and wished we could stay longer. Really enjoyed arriving to the chocolate brownies and fresh bread. Really couldn’t fault the place

    Scott2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The nicest Airbnb that we have ever stayed in. Jo and Daniel are the most amazing hosts, we arrived to homemade brownies as well as breakfast items and a lovely warm cabin. Jo was available to answer any questions and there was lots of information about the local area available. We had a wonderful meal at the nearby gardeners arms and a wonderful stay. We can’t wait to return and can’t recommend enough. The cabin was sparkling clean and had everything we could need and more.

    Sofia2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • A brilliant stay. From homemade brownies to champagne in the fridge following NYE, everything was provided. Cute interiors, outdoor seating overlooking the farm complete with sheep, goats and dogs running around providing constant entertainment. A brilliant weekend and a fine host to boot. • Sam & Jocelyn were such lovely hosts- they had thought of everything, and catered for us so well- we even had a delicious breakfast which was such a nice surprise! The cottage itself was so cosy. It was warm and quiet. Both the sofa bed and main bed were very comfortable and there was more than enough space for the four of us. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting a quiet weekend away!

Excellent isolation space. Lovely shepherds hut in an area of outstanding natural beauty 2 fields from the Bluebell Railway, a restored steam railway, close to the Ashdown Forest. The hut is cosy, in a lovely private garden for your sole use. Comfy bed, french linen bedding, and wood burner. Good for couples, solo adventures and dogs. Outside cook space is complete with a barbecue as well as gas hob. 72 hour gap between guests as a Covid19 protection.
The hut has mains electricity and water. A great hot shower in the ensuite bathroom plus hot water for the outside sink. There is a double gas burner outside as well as the barbecue. Plenty of logs and kindling for the wood burner and enough charcoal for one good barbecue.
The hut is just off an unclassified country lane. It is not in a village. This is a quiet country area with a great deal of wild life in the surrounding woodland. It is about one hour's walk (6 minutes drive) to a pub and, if you walk, take a torch at night. Nearest shops are Sharpethorne, Lindfield and Haywards Heath. If coming by train, pick up supplies in Haywards Heath. Alternatively, have groceries delivered by a supermarket.
  • Such a lovely, well thought through place, lovely private garden and everything you need laid on. The bed is so comfy, slept so well. Would love to see it in spring and summer so will be back!

  • The Hut was clean, well equipped and in a good location to be both remote and surrounded by the sounds and sights of a rural location yet not too far from facilities in Ardingly, was good all round and Sue was a great host! Steam train from Horsted Keynes Station worth a visit.

  • A stunning shepherds hut, so well thought out as a space. We really enjoyed our time here. We hiked through the woods to the bluebell vineyard for a tour and tasting, loved the plaw hatch farm shop and found the outdoor kitchen perfect for autumnal stews. An excellent break.

    Matt2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful Shepard’s hut with an amazing shower in a peaceful location. Perfect weekend! Would recommend.

    Charlotte2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely time! We only wish that we could have stayed much longer. Sue was very forgiving and accommodating with our Friday evening traffic issues on our trek from Cornwall to Forest Row. It would be easy to stay here all week and just venture out for walks and supplies to Tablehurst and Plaw Hutch. Whilst we were here, we had work to do but it was lovely all the same. Highly recommend.

  • Sarah was very communicative from the start. She gave plenty of directions on how to reach her place, and if I had any issues she was available for a phone call. I flew in late, and she was more than willing to let me and my group have a late check in. Finding the location was a little tough at midnight, but it was in a good condition. Note to future people, finding an Uber is a little tough, and getting a taxi took like 30 minutes.

  • Coming from a hot South Africa to a cold UK was a worry but the place lovely and warm. Great parking space making having a car a treat. My family and I loved the place. It was homely and cosy and Sarah made sure we had everything we needed and a lovely box of chocolates for Christmas. The location was ideal. The price was good and for a family of 4 just what we wanted. Her animals were a delight and I will definitely recommend this cabin and be back again

  • Plain and simple, but clean and everything there you need. There's even a full-sized fridge/freezer in the kitchen, although the kitchen is TEENY. But there's a full 4-burner hob/oven, toaster, kettle, M/W, and even a washer. Awesome! Sarah and her family are so sweet and kind. It was lovely meeting her and some of her kids. We even had guest kitties to stroke if we wanted. My friend and I loved it. The cabin was very clean and tidy, and there're theoretically beds to sleep 5. With just 2 of us we were spoilt for choice. Nice, clean bathroom with heated towel rack. The place is slightly difficult to find, but is very quiet and we loved it. We both slept very well. If you're looking for 5-star hotel accommodation, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a lovely, simple, restful place to just relax, this is it! I highly recommend, and will definitely return! Thanks so much, Sarah!

I would only say to anyone with long hair to take their own hairdryer as there isn’t one and also if there’s a power cut speak to Joshua ASAP if you were planning on using the hot tub. It was a beautifully relaxing space!

Have an amazingly restful stay surrounded by trees in this wonderfully light and sunny bedroom with en-suite bathroom in a tranquil, modern house in the heart of the beautiful Ashdown Forest. The room has a calm, pale green decor and simple furnishings with built in wardrobe and a small desk area. The room gets the afternoon and evening sun and overlooks the gardens, feeling very private.
The perfect space for nature lovers, walkers, birdwatchers, artists and musicians. Our family home is a restful place situated in a quiet, stunning location amidst beautiful private botanical gardens with direct access to Ashdown Forest. Guests can enjoy a private terrace overlooking the gardens (see photo), perfect for breakfast or sunbathing. There is a kitchenette shared with other guests for preparing basic meals. Guests can also use the upstairs music room if it is free which has a weighted, hammer action digital piano with headphones.
We live 2 miles outside the village of Forest Row, so very handy for Michael Hall school and Emerson College. The local area has excellent biodynamic farm shops and health food shops, and Forest Row has independent shops, pubs and bars including the Hop Yard which regularly has DJ and band nights. They also sell delicious sourdough pizzas and have a great smoothie bar on site. A number of beautiful gardens are close by including Wakehurst, Sheffield Park and Standen. Gatwick and Lewes are 30 min drive away. Brighton is 40 min drive away. Glyndebourne is 25 min drive away.
  • I loved staying with Beth and her family in her beautiful modern home by the forest. The room was very nice and clean, I could always come ask if I needed anything and Beth responded very quickly. The view from the room is stunning right into the nature and the yard is so nice and big. Thanks again.

    Tanja2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beth and her family are so lovely and welcoming, stayed in their home as I was on a placement down the road, as I was working while I was there I wasn’t around too much but found that when I came back I could unwind and relax and sleep well as the bedroom was so cosy and homely! Extra benefit was meeting their dog and cats all of which were super friendly and enjoyed plenty of cuddles from me

    Dani2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Beth's was wonderful! The location is incredibly beautiful, with a magical garden that backs right onto the forest. While it is described as 2 miles out of Forest Row it is in fact more like 4. If your planning on doing it without a car I think this is an important factor to know as it changes a walk into a drive. The amenities were as described and suitable for cooking simple meals, although there is no official dining table so food has to be eaten in the bedroom or upstairs if the attic room is free (luckily for us it was :) ). Beth and Anna are super friendly and lovely, as are there dog and cat who we enjoyed lots of snuggles with. Thank you both for an amazing time away.

  • Very comfortable, warm, and in a beautiful setting.

    Alex2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • I had such a good time. The house is in the middle of the most beautiful forest, like Sherwood. The house is the little house, next to the big house, which is really big, and you wonder who is living there. Great room with own bath and kitchenette, all you need and more. A dog that looks like a minisheep and a cat, they both became my friends during my 4 night stay. Very nice conversations with the hosts. Fabulous airbnb!

    Peder2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing value for money in a beautiful family home. Beth and Anna will make you feel very welcome and it’s a stunning location for forest walks too.

    Bea2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Beth‘s place. The premises are outstanding as are the garden and the whole surroundings! Beth gave us a warm welcome and did everything to make us feel comfortable. She provided us with a lot of useful hints concerning places to eat and do things. Thank you again, see you again some time! Birgit & Clive :)

  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Michelle and Michael’s place. From a warm welcoming they could not have been kinder to us. The place is absolutely stunning, such a calming relaxing space it was the perfect place to get away from it all. The bed so comfortable and everything thought of, from diffuser with relaxing smells to lovely toiletries and a generous breakfast. We can’t thank Michelle and Michael more for a lovely stay, such a lovely couple and we can’t wait to return again!

    Laura2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Michelle could not have been more welcoming and hospitable. The room was immaculate and the quirky touches added a lovely feel to our stay. From the moment we arrived, we loved it. The room is spacious and the bathroom is fantastic. The shower is the best we’ve ever had!! Breakfast was brilliant and they went out of their way to make sure that everything was perfect for us. Michael and Michelle’s tips for the local area are superb. We went on their suggested 5k walk the following day after checking out and saw lovely parts of Lindfield. Thank you both so much for adding the final touches to our weekend. Rob and Catherine x

Michelle and Michael are so kind, will welcome you in, give you great tips for the area, make you tea, provide breakfast, and do anything you need to make sure you have a great time. They renovated their barn and it is really well done. Check out Michelle's cake's too. Highly recommend.

  • A place full of character with all mod cons. The bed soo comfortable with beautiful bedding. In the bathroom all toiletries were provided and an amazing powerful shower. Tea and coffee provided as is a iPhone/iPad charger. Would I change anything, no it was perfect, it even had books to read. Michael was the perfect host, he met us, carried suitcases and supplied us with breakfast.

Beautifully converted, spacious, single storey barn, open to the rafters with stone floors throughout. It is a secluded escape to the country with its own driveway from a tiny quiet lane, set in gardens rolling out into stunning Sussex countryside.
The Barn accommodates a couple very well. Two extra people can sleep on the companion beds in the living room. A travel cot and strap-on high chair are provided at no extra cost.
The Barn is between the towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath, both are a 15 min drive. The Bluebell Railway, Wakehurst Place, Standen and Nymans Gardens are all nearby and worth visiting. If walking is what you want, West Hoathly is on the edge of Ashdown forest and Pooh bear country with acres of open countryside to explore. Within in the village there are two pubs that both serve food.
  • We loved our stay at Marie Claire's. This is a really sweet little getaway cottage with everything you need (as a couple or small family). The little touches like fresh flowers and cooked breakfast left in the fridge to prepare really made a difference.

    Natasha2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great property in a great location. Thoughtful touch in providing milk, eggs etc.

    Colin2020-01-09T00:00:00Z

  • Langridge Barn is an excellent place to stay. Beautiful location with so much to do in the local area. Excellent host and facilities. The breakfast provided by the lovely host Marie-Clare, is an added and most welcome bonus. We wanted somewhere to stay for a couple of nights with our dog to catch up with our daughter and son in law who live nearby but have a cat so couldn’t stay with them. Anyway this barn was so homely and cosy and the weather was so bad one afternoon we spent more time in it than anticipated and it was a home from home. Our daughter is even contemplating going there for a weekend retreat!

  • I stayed one week at Lila's place on holiday to visit my friends in East Grinstead. I was welcomed in a very friendly way, Lila explained everything to me and even showed me the beautiful walks around Forest Row. During my entire stay, Lila was a very friendly and attentive hostess. The house is very nice, near to the cenre of Forest Row but nevertheless nicely quiet, so I could sleep there very well. The room is clean and comfortable with a nice green view out of the window - perfect for my needs. It was a very nice stay to which I like to think back. I highly recommend this place and would book it again anytime. Thank you, Lila.

  • Lila is a very warm, considerate, thoughtful & kind host. She took time out to show me where to go for walks, amenities etc.. Her place is great, very near to the centre of Forest Row. It is extremely quiet and I slept very well there. Lovely view of greenery from the window. I appreciated being able to prepare food in her kitchen altho' there are great places to eat locally. There are also lots of nice walks nearby. She has the most adorable cat who is super friendly. Lila epitomises the best of airbnb. I would definitely recommend Lila, her cat and her place and hopefully will see her again if I am back in Forest Row. Thank you Lila.

  • Truffle lodge is a comfortable and cosy place to stay. Ideally located close to gatwick, and great as a base for walkers or those wanting to visit ashdown forest, south downs, or sheffield park gardens. Lindfield has three great pubs, and has a few dining options as well. Claire was a great host, the place is kept spotless, as is the garden, and the basics of tea, coffee etc are supplied, along with little touches like dressing gowns and slippers. Claire is very responsive to any enquiries, and a pleasure to communicate with.

Everything you could need is supplied for a short stay and Lindfield itself has everything from coffee shops to a good selection of pubs and restaurants as well as a local Co-op should you have forgotten anything. If I am back in the area then, if available, it will be my first choice play to stay.

Modern home just 10 minutes away from Gatwick Airport and 1 minute walking distance from bus stop. From the bus stop it takes 5 minutes drive to Three Bridges train station or 20 minutes walk and 10 minutes to Crawley town centre. It takes approximately 40 minutes to reach London Victoria and 25 minutes to Brighton.
The neighborhood is very safe, quiet and clean. There is a small supermarket 8 mins walk. The local shops are 8 mins walk (on route between my house and the station). There are pubs within walking distance (10 mins) where you can eat all day. The main town centre is 2.5 miles where you can find many restaurants and bars.
  • Another wonderful stay at Cynthia’s home. Really quick communication, quiet respectful and clean. Will definitely stay again.

  • Myself and two friends stayed at Carolyn’s place for a long weekend as a break from London and it was perfect! Beautiful little cottage with everything we needed and in a lovely location. We visited a couple of great local pubs (the Cat and the Gardener). We left feeling very relaxed and hopefully will visit again! Tip for finding the cottage: look for the sign saying “Old Selsfield” on the fence as you drive down Selsfield Road.
