Spacious suite for two people. Very clean, comfortable and peaceful location. Short distance to restaurants, outdoor activities and near by towns. This house was absolutely perfect and if you are coming for the Civil War history, this is the place to stay! Not enough focus is on just how close this house is in relation to the Antietam Battlefield and the walking trails. The house was absolutely spotless and well laid out. The hot tub was a perfect way to rest and recover from our miles of hikes. Captain Benders Tavern is only about 3 minutes away in town and has a nice menu and food was delicious! And Harpers Ferry is only about a 25 minute drive. Just a word of advice, if you are planning on hiking, bring tick spray and as soon as you get back to the house, put your clothes in the dryer on high for 10 or 20 minutes and do a good body check. We brought SEVERAL ticks home with us... Yuck!

This historic 1840 cottage is a well appointed rustic cape cod house perfect for an outdoorsman, a homey country get away for a family or a couples retreat. It is situated in the woods and walking distance to the C&O canal towpath. You are also centrally located to many historic parks, hiking, attractions, activities and small towns. The owner, Rorke, was very responsive and helpful. The home is warming and inviting with lots of amenities (see the listing) so you don’t need to bring or buy any of the usual items. We thoroughly enjoyed our short time there and the ability to explore from Hagerstown to Charles town and most especially all the small towns in between like Shepherdstown, Crystal Grottos, and Boonsboro where we found the carnival and enjoyed a country band.

Antietam Giest House has an abundance of character and convenience. Located right in Sharpsburg this 166 year old home is a surprisingly comfortable immersion experience. Vernell and Tom have thoughtfully addressed old home quirks with things like LED motion lights on the stairs and effective light blocking in the bedroom windows. Every corner of the home is loaded with period charm. The back yard garden area is especially charming, peaceful and private. We loved every minute of our stay.
