Family-friendly holiday rentals in Southerness

We had a lovely stay with our 3 dogs at heron view, we enjoyed the spacious living area and comfortable beds. The utility space was a great nook for the dogs if they were wet from walking. Lovely local pub (the Masonic) with friendly people and bar staff. The hot tub was a massive bonus! Thanks Donald We will be back!

Beautiful stay, the cottage was incredibly clean and well presented, the bathroom was gorgeous, and the hot tub was excellent. Fab location and great little walk down to the river at the back. 10/10

Beautiful home. Recently refurbished to an exceptionally high standard. Elizabeth was always responsive and on hand if we needed her. She provided lots of very helpful recommendations for food and activities during our stay. Fabulous home and host.

Perfect stay for our group of friends. Communication was great, and we had everything we needed. We were really happy with the accommodation (and the bbq and hot tub!). Great spot to venture into the Lake District, and very easy to get to. Thank you!

Stayed for 2 nights and we didn't want to leave! Went for a break with friends and the pooch and all absolutely loved it. Beautiful home, views and great dog walks local. Very secluded garden area with hot tub which was lovely in the autumn weather. Will definitely be returning in the future! The cottage was the perfect place for our weekend away! The rooms were comfortable, the kitchen was very well equipped, and the garden was very spacious! We loved watching the neighbouring sheep in the sun room, and the hot tub was the perfect place to watch the pheasants and squirrels which visited the garden. The cottage was about an hours drive to the lakes, and the host was super friendly and recommended some lovely local walks and things to do in the village! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!

The stables exceeded our expectations, and Margaret was an incredible host! already looking for when we can come back and visit again, this place is amazing!

As many have said this is a lovely place to stay, it has real charm and character you can almost imagine the people that have called this home over its long history. It’s appropriately decorated and furnished in a style fitting its heritage yet still has all the modern conveniences that we love. Situated at the opening to a beautiful park it was just perfect for our dog, it’s also only a 10 minute stroll into the town for restaurants etc. Sam was the perfect host, very responsive and helpful with recommendations. I would highly recommend this as the perfect place to stay

On the outside it looks like your average home but when you go inside its perfect, very spacious and the photos were beautiful and they even provided us with some biscuits to enjoy with a cuppa in the morning, which we has outside in the back garden enjoying the sun and sounds of sheep😊 absolutely lovely! and the shower is top notch, very good shower! 😂 beds were comfy and so was the sofas! thank you for letting us stay :))

We had a wonderful stay at Morven's. The cottage itself was beautiful and contained everything that we needed. The sauna was a unique addition! Everything had been considered and the small touches, such as the fresh herbs and the treats for the dogs really made us feel at home. Our hosts were quick to respond to a phone call and incredibly attentive to our needs. The village of Staveley is a hidden gem and we made good use of the Eagle & Child pub and the outrageously good bakery, More. I would highly recommend this stay and hope that we can return ourselves!

We stayed for a month to work remotely and explore the local area. It’s a beautiful cottage with amazing outside space - we often worked outside on the upstairs terrace! Great location in the centre of town but still felt private. We had a couple of issues over the month but Alan was extremely responsive and did what he could to resolve ASAP. We would definitely return!

Fabulous little find here. Very functional cottage with some fantastic views. Need to be able to drive but that’s not really a big issue. Very responsive and helpful hosts who made the stay very easy.

We were only passing through Moffat and arrived later than expected so didn’t have much time to enjoy. Had everything we needed including a very comfortable bed. Ideally situated, about a one minute walk to the centre of town. Would highly recommended.

Lovely place for us to stay for a short period. Really nice area to visit ideal for some walking in North lakes and nice pub nearby. Property has everything you need and a good space for family, lovely outdoor space with a stream.

We stayed at Simon and Belinda's place for a week and it was exactly what we needed. Fantastic location for walks and food. The Wainwright's Inn is only 0.2 miles away. Great food and local ales on your doorstep. The cottage is cosy, the kitchen is well equipped and the information provided was very thorough and useful. There are some books in the house they have prepared to show various walks and local recommendations. We did some of these walks and our 5 year old enjoyed every second! We took advantage of the leisure facilities at The Langdale. This was a great addition to the cottage! Really recommend if you want a place near to town locations, walks and local pubs/cafés/restaurants.

Great lodge situated right at the top of the site, within 2 minutes of a small walk with panoramic views of the valleys. Bedding was super soft & so were the towels, comfy bed, great sleep. Beautiful surroundings to wake up to and sit outdoors with a coffee listening to the birds. Dog friendly! Comfortable sofa! Lots of utensils and plates.

We had a great stay at Whitbarrow. We have visited the resort before on many occasions. We had some minor issues in the accommodation which were swiftly resolved by Seasons staff. Kal and Anita were great to communicate with leading up to and during the stay also. Very responsive and helpful. Good facilities onsite too and helpful staff. Thank you

Peaceful, private, spacious. Walking distance to beach, shop, restaurant. Kitchen is well equipped. We loved our stay here. Fits 8 comfortably.

Really enjoyed our stay, we were celebrating my Mother’s 90th birthday and had other family members staying in other lodges around the park. Beautiful scenery and great location. We’ll definitely be visiting again.

This place was beyond our expectations. Immaculately presented, super clean, tidy, jaw dropping views. I can't fault it in any way and I can't rate it highly enough. Will definately look to return in the future. Stunning!

Raphaela and Steve were very helpful and pleasant. They encouraged us to let them know when we needed something. The cottage has a great bathroom and well-appointed kitchen and is very comfortable. We enjoyed the farm-like atmosphere—it’s so peaceful yet so close to amenities. And the grazing cows standing in the road to town were easily nudged with minimal mooing. We loved it!
