Cozy Trailside Nordic Forest Cottage

Welcome to the Trailside Gökotta Forest Cottage: a modern, minimalist and serene nature cabin on the Birkie Trail system. Gökotta means 'to get up early to listen to sounds of birds and the forest'. Located right on Birkie Ridge Trailhead with close access to vast CAMBA trails, this is a nature escape for outdoor enthusiasts who love to bike, ski, hike, and bird watch. Enjoy ski-in ski-out to groomed trails, bike-in bike-out right onto trails, then cozy up by the woodstove or fire-pit at night.

The Timberjack

Although it's a rustic homage to the lumberjacks and jills of yesteryear, this cabin includes many of the comforts we now enjoy including a queen bed, kitchenette with fridge, hot water, AC/heat, a Keurig coffeemaker, smart TV and charcoal grill. The Timberjack is surrounded by trees right on Lake Hayward and close to downtown Hayward. Launch your canoe just steps from the cabin, walk into town for lunch, or go hiking or skiing on the nearby trails, this cabin is nestled in the ideal location!

We designed this space for a warm, cozy getaway. The overall goal of the design was a connection with nature and with the one you love, highlighting the beauty of the Driftless region. Use the onsite sauna or outdoor tub for a unique experience. Connect with nature in the Driftless Area of SW Wisconsin, drive to one of the attractions from this central location including the House on the Rock, Taliesin, Devil’s Lake Park, and more. Bring your canine companion as well, there is acreage to roam.

Remote, tranquil, quiet and private getaway on 5.8 acres on the banks of the Elk Creek; only 1.5 hours from the Twin Cities! This creek is known as a class 1 trout stream. Guests can enjoy fishing, sight seeing, canoeing and kayaking the Chippewa River or Elk Lake, biking, hiking, atv/utv and snowmobile trails nearby as well. Near the entrance of Mill Creek Cabins, The Water Villa is shielded by a large privacy fence. A sliding door opens up to reveal a pathway to the two-story cabin. The main floor features a king bed, balcony, small seating area, and fireplace. Reclaimed barn wood walls and large windows create a warm interior highlighting the outdoors.
