Family-friendly holiday rentals in Bedford County

We stayed at The Frances home July 6th thru July 13th, 2024. The house is so much nicer in person, the pictures just don't it justice. The beds were fine, the kitchen is well stocked and the place was very clean. Tons of room on the lower level to spread out and enjoy the pool table and ping pong. The lot is sloped but not too steep and they have a very nice, concrete walkway. The owners allow use of their kayaks, canoe and tiki hut on the dock. The hot tub on the lower deck was a great way to relax and enjoy the lake view. The house is in a no wake cove and just across the water from Jake's Place. Super close to the SML bridge and Bridgewater marina. Jake's has a restaurant, camper park and beach area with a slide. They do provide internet although we struggled many times with the connections, just power cycled their router and it was back up and running. T-mobile is the provider, I believe. The one major negative is no trash service, not even trash cans. Gotta fix that...

Nancy’s place met all expectations. Great amenities. Comfort and space excellent. Perfect place to work, play and relax. Great view. Loved hanging on the decks and dock. Everything was easy and comfortable. Highly recommend. We loved our stay.

Great stay! All bedrooms are super comfy and well sized, the dock is so fun and well set up for hanging out. We loved all the games inside the house and the kayaks. Nice big kitchen and great outdoor dining options. Perfect for a weekend trip with our group of adults and children.

We loved staying at this location. The scenery was amazing and the home was beautiful. It had ample room and everything was so comfy. We had a busy graduation schedule but hope to come back at another time where we can really take in the lovely mountain air and the lake! Thanks Alicia for being a great host and sharing this amazing home with us!

Nancy's listing seemed a little pricy at first, but overall was a fair price. It has a lot to offer and we would certainly consider returning some time in the future.

We had a great stay with friends for our first visit to Smith Mountain Lake. The house had more than enough room for all 10 of us, was very clean, and had plenty of kitchenware for our stay. We really enjoyed the dock/deck, fire pit, and use of the kayaks and paddle boards. Hope to be able to return one day!

This Airbnb was fantastic. We will definitely stay again. James was incredibly responsive and kind with his answering my million questions before our stay. Any issues we had during our stay (we couldn’t figure out how to work the A/C and ran out of propane), James IMMEDIATELY assisted with. Location was private (this is a shared home) and a great location super close to the state park. We were able to park our boat on site to put it in at the park. Home was very clean and comfortable. I have mobility issues so I will say that while the high bed made us feel like royalty, it was a slight challenge to get in and out of but that is solely due to my mobility issues and anyone who does not have those concerns will be fine. While it is a shared home, we never heard anyone upstairs and hope that our noise didn’t bother the owner. Our kids loved the hot tub after a day out on the lake. James does not require you to do a ton of chores at check out like other Airbnb’s, which was nice.

A peaceful location with a spacious fenced yard made it the perfect place to stay for our son’s wedding weekend in Bedford.

Our stay was very relaxing. Alicia was very attentive and quick to respond to our messages. I would recommend her cabin to family and friends.

This was our second time staying at Nautical Nook, we absolutely love it here. Truly is a very special place.

This was a perfect location for our extended family visit. Close to University of Lynchburg. Apartment was perfect size for our extended family. Breakfast was delicious. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again.

Perfect lakeside home! Great screened in porch for morning coffee with a wonderful view of the lake! A very warm, welcoming home with every amenity for a great family vacation! Kayaks, paddle board, peddle boat and many floats and life vests! My family loved this home. We had a great time and can't wait to do it again! Jennifer is a great host and responds very quickly! You won't be disappointed!

The place was spacious and beautiful, in a safe location close to an amazing bakery and coffee shop. The beds were comfortable and the house in general was impeccable. Unfortunately we had to buy some things that were missing. Garbage bags, toilet paper. There was barely any in the bathroom and no extra. They were minor details. I would absolutely recommend staying here. The view was so beautiful.

Our family came here from multiple different states & this was the perfect spot to relax and spend time together. Thanks to good weather, we spent most our time outside. We loved the fishing, outdoor seating, and country-charm. The house itself had so much character! It feels like a step back in time, but with modern amenities! The hosts were very kind & helpful and shared the history of the farm with us. I would definitely stay here again!

Great location at Bernard’s Landing - right next to the club house with the pool and other amenities. Very large space that could easily accommodate 4 couples. Would definitely stay here again!

The view from the condo was stunning and beautiful, just like John’s photos online. The detailed directions and descriptions were very accurate. John welcomed us during check-in and thanked us when we left. It would be nice to have screens on the sliding glass door. Definitely would consider staying there in the future!

We loved our stay. We only stayed one night. We drove up to drop my brother off at college. It was a wonderful day. Everyone was super nice.!

It was super cute and close to plenty of things to do. Also a nice little view of the water, which we loved!
