We have officially the darkest skies in England; from the back garden over 2000 stars can be seen on a clear night.

Wannies Retreat is in the heart of Northumberland offering a stay in a beautiful converted railway van measuring 18.5m long! We have a viewing platform to admire the amazing dark skies and a hot tub to relax in as well as secure bike storage and a drying room, after a walk or cycle ride in the lovely Northumberland countryside. Windy Hall is somewhere very special. High in the Pennines it offers one of the most magnificent views in England. You may want to stay and enjoy the peace & quiet, but we are ideally placed for trips west to the Lake District, east to the magnificent cathedral city of Durham, and north to Hadrian's Wall. It's unusual in that you have to walk the last 240 metres to the house, though we will bring up your luggage in our 4WD. But don't let this put you off; please just read our reviews!
