Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Cumberland County

Although my son was disappointed that her cat Batman didn't come with our rental (wink;), this house exceeded our expectations! We visit Maine every summer because we have family there and typically stay with Aunt Jeanne. This time there was an abundance of family staying at her house towards the end of our vacation so we opted to get this beautiful Airbnb for the weekend. This house is BIG. Has a lovely deck with a great outside garden. We heard a family of Barred Owls at night! If you follow the path it opens up to this HUGE field with a (very clean and stylish) yurt and a fire pit. At night- the stars are AMAZING in this field. One thing that we now have to get back at home- a bidet. This trip was the first time we have tried one.... hahah!

Kate’s place is in a beautiful location and has so much to do. We loved the wildlife, the easy access to Portland and all the yard games. We can’t wait to come back!

This cottage is perfect for Sebago if you own a boat. She has everything you could need for a stay on the water. I would love to stay here again this year.

Our group was two small families with kids ages 6 and 8. Everyone had a great time. If you’re looking for a home to get out into nature, this is it. The private dock and lake gave us hours of time to play outside. Kayaks, paddle boards, and fishing off the dock was fun and all part of the house. Kids had a blast and so did the adults. Perfect for family summer vacation. We had a few rainy days but either played board games inside or went into Portland which is only 20-30 minutes away. Visited Mackworth Island in Casco Bay. Must do if you want to have a day excursion. The house well kept and easy to navigate. We spent more time outside on the lake than inside.

The absolute perfect weekend for my birthday party! Plenty of space to sleep everyone and gorgeous, well stocked kitchen. Huge backyard for lawn games and grilling. The ping pong table in the basement was a bonus! Close to the lake but situated in a private oasis with large deck to watch the many chipmunks scurrying around. Would highly recommend staying here!

Stop scrolling & just book this amazing home! Randy is an excellent, gracious & very responsive host! Check-in was a breeze w/ wonderful detailed instructions for the house and region sent in advance. This house is awesome, pristine clean, beautifully decorated and outfitted. Totally turnkey set up as they thought of everything one might need to cook, relax, sleep, explore and enjoy your visit! It's very evident that these hosts want their guests to have an exceptional experience and we did! Beds were comfy along with plenty of high quality linens and supplies. We truly cannot wait to return on what will be our regular road trips to Maine! We toured Boothbay, Chebeague Island, Brunswick, Portland, Kennebunkport, Freeport and Ogunquit while we were there. Yarmouth is awesome with super friendly locals! Close by, we found Rosemont Market, Maggie Mae's Cafe and Royal River Grille convenient options among many good ones in the area. As Mainer living across the country, it is always nice to come. Unfortunately this trip was to attend my Mom's funeral. Pam's home was the right level of closeness to the rest of my family to make visiting easy. The place was the peaceful retreat I needed to visit with myself. Five minutes to most things a person living out of a suitcase could need. Also less then 5 minutes walk puts one at the boat launch for personal watercraft. A great place to sit for a few. The amenities were plentiful at the house and the character was Maine charming. Pam was wonderful and easy to communicate with at all stages. I will be back in the future. Matt

Stayed here for 1 night to cap off a Maine coastal trip and it was a perfect place to unwind and relax. Good walkable food options and very comfortable bed.

We absolutely loved our stay. This was our first time in Portland and coming back to this unit after a full day of activities felt like we were right at home. Lucie has truly made this unit so warm and inviting with great attention to detail. The location itself is also great, not too far from the city to drive but not too close either. Thanks again!

Visited Feb '25 Steep stairs {a delightful New England quirk} lead to a comfortable bed, quaint views out the window. Soft cottage core vibes. Eclectic design steeping in a life well lived. Wonderful kitchen, well stocked and easy to cook in. Shower pressure is adequate. Bathroom is clean and filled with an array of books and tchotchkes. Your eyes always have something to wander and examine. It's a maximalists dream. The book shelf in the living room is filled with old books some titles are expected due to surroundings and some are just plain fun. May I recommend a game of I spy Nina is quite fantastic. A spit fire. An attentive host. Hospitable and kind. She gave it a welcoming vibe. Meeting her animals was truthfully a highlight. They are even tempered and kind. Her horse is stunning & social. The donkey a goof. The mule is oh so friendly. Sheep a bit shy but non the less beautiful. Chickens? fluffy feet! The ducks were personable. The goats, joyful. Cat, adorable. Good workin dogs.

We always love our stay here and will always be our first choice in the area!

The unit was very clean but a bit smaller than I expected. We chose the location because my son lives in Pepperell Mill which is very nearby. It had all listed amenities. A large person may struggle with the small shower. For the size of the space, the owner did a good job with the furnishings and amenities

Alex’s place is even better than the listing. It is exactly what you would want as a home away from home. Her place is very well kept, well lit and very homey and comfortable. Beyond that it’s in an incredible walking location to some of the best food, cutest shops and neighborhoods I’ve had and seen in a while. I’ll definitely be back.

My dog and I had a great time here and would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area. We found lots of dog-friendly hikes and nature reserves nearby within 15-30 minutes . Otherwise we enjoyed the peaceful yard and small brook on the property. Beautiful and thoughtful rental, with very friendly hosts.

A lovely place to stay in Portland’s East End. Great location in a very quiet and walkable neighborhood. (I happily did not need a car during my visit.) The apartment is great, with a comfy bed, smart TV and a nice little patio too. And you’re just steps from the Eastern Promenade park, which is one of Portland’s best amenities imo and leads to a beach, waterfront trail, dock w/ kayak rentals, etc. Jennifer was a very kind host; thank you!

We loved our weekend getaway at Ramune’s place in Saco! The apartment is so cute, comfortable, private, and feels very spacious with the dividing wall between the living and sleeping areas. It was really nice having a fridge, dishes, and small kitchen appliances for convenience. The location is very convenient - a nice walk or short drive to the Main Street in Saco and then across the river to Biddeford. You’re also just a short drive from nearby beaches and towns like Kennebunkport and Portland. Ramune was very kind and communicative! Would definitely recommend her place for anyone looking for a homey and quiet getaway in Maine.

Great stay

Beautiful, spacious and bright house, with everything you need to be comfortable and explore Portland. At one point we had a problem with the fire alarm and Allyson not only answered in minutes, but also told us how to fix the problem and left us extra batteries so it wouldn't happen again. Don't hesitate to stay at Allyson's, not only is it the ideal accommodation for a family, but Allyson was the best host. Thank you very much!

The Baxter Suite was perfect for our weekend stay with 4 people. Thomas was a great host- very responsive and accommodating. The apartment is beautiful and very clean. The bathroom is gorgeous and beds were so comfy. One note is that the only mirror is in the bathroom and there is no full length mirror (not a huge issue but a small struggle with 4 women trying to get ready at the same time lol). The free parking spot was very nice to have but there was also plenty of street parking available. Overall Thomas’s place had everything we needed and we would stay here again!

We stayed at a few of Spencer's places while our child was at Bowdoin college. The places are lovely and convenient and made visiting our child a pleasure.

We loved our stay! The space is beautiful and cozy. The walk to the family friendly beach was just the right distance for my 4yo. The neighborhood is adorable and friendly! With an amazing bakery and ice cream shop just around the corner! Dave was a great host and took great care of us.
