Family-friendly holiday rentals in Davis

We couldn’t have picked a better location to spend our 1 year wedding anniversary. We spent a beautiful Saturday at Blackwater Falls and exploring any trace of the Blackwater 100 (historic offroad race) around town. Sunday was raining and we spent the entire day at the cabin having the most peaceful day watching the clouds roll through.

We loved this place and wish we could have stayed longer! Soooo many things to do in such a natural breathtaking outdoor setting, this place really is a hidden gem! Hosts were extremely responsive and helpful with making sure we had everything we needed even with a later check in, they were able to accommodate. Local markets/shops/businesses are more than affordable and the local people are just amazing! I’d definitely come back and stay here again and I know my kids can’t wait to!

Really nice place to stay in Thomas / Davis WVA. Clean and well stocked cabin. Comfortable and centrally located for all the outdoor activities. This cabin would be easy to access in the snow. It’s basically right off the main road and flat.

This was the perfect spot for a honeymoon. The cabin was gorgeous and had some Christmas decor which was very festive. I’d recommend to anyone and would love to come back.

Our family of four had a great time skiing, tubing, sledding, and hiking. House is centrally located between Davis/Blackwater Falls, Timberline and Canaan Ski areas, and Dolly Sods. Layout is great for two couples or a family with 2-3 kids that can share the loft. Hot tub was clean and well-cared for. We were also very happy with the kitchen amenities, as we love to cook!

Fabulous house with detached suite for privacy for our group. Very clean and comfortable with many amenities. Walk right to Davis to shop and eat! Fireplace added warmth and camp vibes! Will come again!

My fiancé and I stayed here with our 3 dogs on a trip to hiking some of the best sights in eastern WV. This place is a true treat and I hope is around for many many years to come. We’d love to come back in the summer and enjoy some of the many swimming holes along the creek. We had a slight issue in the beginning but Michael was responsive quickly and worked to quickly resolve. Abrams creek is a perfect little hole in the wall, truly private and secluded place.

I was looking for an escape from the pressures of the city for me and my teenager & am so glad I found this place, because our experience at Cabin C at Abrams Creek with Michael as host could not have been more perfect. The site is incredibly gorgeous—our dog was in 7th heaven—and it was impossible not to feel happy waking up to the sound of the rushing creek, and going to sleep warm & cozy in the loft thanks to the electric heat, listening to the forest sounds or thunderstorms on the nights it rained. I was surprised to find a full-size fridge (and microwave!) in the cabin, which made our longer stay so much nicer, and when I needed to get work done or participate in remote meetings, I just set up on the porch in front of the lodge where the wifi is strong and reliable. It was the most relaxing and beautiful "office" I've ever worked in. Michael was kind, generous, and immediately attentive to our every need. We will be returning often!

I had a lovely stay, and Michael was so lovely and friendly throughout! It's so peaceful and calm, and there's so much to do in the area. I will definitely come back!

Great stay at Stephen’s. He advised us not to use our non 4WD vehicle to get up to the site but we tried anyway because we arrived after dark. He told us he could help get our car unstuck and patiently did so. It was a serene place and we tried some of his distillery items, which were tasteful and great (no hangover!!). Friendly and loving cat who follows him around as well.

Great place in a cute little town. Close to state parks and wonderful outdoor adventures! Dog friendly and very clean. Lots of extra space with a well stocked kitchen for eating in and enjoying the family.

Our family and one other spent the New Year's holiday weekend at Skier's View while skiing at nearby Timberline Resort with our kids. Colleen was extremely proactive in sharing all of the pertinent info and went above and beyond to detail every aspect of the home as well as the surrounding community. The rental was a great price and had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the beautiful view of Timberline, Canaan, and Whitegrass. We have stayed at many homes in the Valley and this was our favorite!

Great experience. Perfect location for our trip to smoke hole canyon. Surrounding area is beautiful. Host very responsive and easy to work with.

We stayed at David's wonderful home for a few days around the New Year's. The kitchen was well appointed, the beds comfortable and the gas fireplace was really comforting when it was cold and stormy outside. wonderful location close to the national wildlife refuge, State Parks and the great little towns of Davis and Thomas West Virginia. highly recommended!

We booked James’s place at the last minute, and we chose it for the location rather than the accommodation. However, when we arrived we had a wonderful surprise, because it was much nicer than the photos had let us to believe. It was spacious and comfortable, with a good-sized kitchen and a lovely sitting area. The kids loved having the playground outside, and it was amazing to soak in the hot tub surrounded by snow, watching the stars come out. We also enjoyed using the indoor swimming pool and games room, and visiting the ponies at the riding centre. The kids sledded down the hill outside and we also went sledding at Blackwater Falls, which was fantastic. The waterfall looked so beautiful with all the icicles. We didn’t have time to try Timberline, but the skiing at Canaan Valley was reasonably priced and great fun. We also had a few nice meals in Davis and Thomas, and a beautiful walk to Douglas falls. Overall, it was a fabulous stay and we will definitely come again if we can…

Friends and family members rented several cabins at Black Bear for a wonderful weekend! Joan’s description warns that AWD is needed at this time of year—and it is. 🤪. Maintenance at Black Bear was extremely responsive when one of our group had difficulty getting out of the resort due to snow/ice. Nice to have the covered back porch to take off snowy wet clothes/boots.

My wife and I needed a trip away from the city for the long holiday weekend where we could enjoy some good activity in peaceful surroundings with our dog. This cozy pedestal cabin in Black Bear Resort was just what we were looking for. Check in was easy by picking up the keys at the resort lodge. The place had everything we needed to a cook a couple nights for ourselves, including the gas grill on the deck. The wall-mounted 4K flatscreen TV with Roku let us relax after three active days out and about in Canaan Valley while we listened to the thunderstorms roll over the mountains each evening. This would certainly be a fine place for folks (especially with kids -- there were two sets of bunk beds in the loft) to use a base for their WV adventures any time of year!

5 star stay here in Davis. The space is beautiful and spacious end unit townhouses on two levels. The hot tub was brand new and water was pristine. Me and my family really enjoyed our stay. There is a lovely community space a few feet away with playground, pool and lake. I would highly recommend this place
