We had a great stay at Strawberry Water cottage for 5 nights. There are lots of things to recommend it: 1. The cottage - it is beautifully furnished and decorated with all the things needed for a good stay. Tcottage has lots of charm and character. 2. The gardens - around the cottage are a number of spaces from small areas with ferns and stone walls to an open paddock witha gazebo. We enjoyed the garden spaces a great deal, especially as we had great weather 3. The setting - the cottage is located about 1/4 of a mile from the sea in a beautiful wooded valley. The scenery around the cottage is stunning. If staying try out the path to the beach as it is lovely. 4. The Hartland peninsula - we didn't know this area before coming but were bowled over by the scenery. We did bits of the SW Coast Path, walked down the Marsland Valley, the Hartland valley around the Abbey and visited Clovelly. All our walks were lovely if sometimes challenging. We also enjoyed a trip to Appledore.

The hosts made us feel very welcome by providing thoughtful touches like milk, coffee, and more. Everything was well-explained and easy to find. The kitchen is well-equipped, making it a fun space for everyone to gather. The spacious house has a unique charm, enhanced by the owners’ creative and thoughtful decor and furniture in each room. We had a fantastic stay, with activities for everyone, especially the children, who loved the outdoor equipment and toys. A car is needed to reach popular places, usually within a 15-20 minute drive. We would definitely stay here again—thank you!

What the weather didn't offer us, Carley's place did! It was perfect for our family with 5 kids and my elderly Mum. There was plenty of space for everyone to sleep comfortably, enough bathrooms for shower chaos in the mornings, TVs for afternoon movies when the weather wasn't great, a perfect kitchen and large table to host family get-togethers and intense monopoly games. The trampoline and garden were a huge hit with all the kids, the foosball table brought back my competitive side with them (oops) and the field with horse and sheep with fabulous views was beautiful. Finally a huge added bonus was Carley and her hubby's kids who my lot hit it off with! Both Carley and hubby (Nick?!) were super friendly, helpful and proactive. Great location; just a few minutes from our favourite beach Sandymouth and the Bush inn pub with amazing food and stunning views. We need to come back and explore more as there's so much we didn't manage to fit in! We'll be back, thanks so much Carley and fam!

Our stay here was amazing, the barn was cosy and really well equipped for everything you need. The location is great for a really quiet getaway with some fantastic nearby walks and nature, but equally there's some lovely places a short drive away. Olivia was a great host and very welcoming, really helpful and there if we needed anything. Definitely a place we would come back to stay in again :)

The cottage is in a truly beautiful forest next to a small stream. There are wonderful walks across the wooded hillside to the coast and a good pub. Beaches are a short drive away along narrow country lanes full of wildflowers. There is a choice of quiet beaches and busy Bude for swimming and body boarding. The cottage itself is cosy and well equipped. It is tiny but very well designed and stylish. I fully recommend this place.

We had a really lovely holiday at Down Barton. The house was perfect for a large family group of 3 generations. The children loved the playroom which gave the rest of us a bit of peace!. We all really enjoyed the open plan living area with the picture windows and it was particularly exciting to see a barn owl swooping around at dusk. Sandy Mouth beach is stunning with surfing, lifeguards, rock pools and a National Trust cafe. Keep an eye on the tide tables though as the beach almost disappears at high tide! We also enjoyed walking down to Welcombe Mouth which is wild, rocky and unspoilt. The local playground at the Village Hall up the road was also great for the kids. Stu responded quickly to messages which was reassuring and we really appreciated the extra touch of the cream tea when we arrived. Highly recommended.

It's rare to find an accommodation that so perfectly matches the beauty of its surroundings, but the barn conversion Issy and Murray have created has achieved just that! The barn is an incredible place to stay - wonderfully designed, high quality finishes and lovely little touches. It's welcoming and incredibly peaceful. It was a brilliant base to explore the area by foot and car and we were able to do a number of circular walks straight from the front door, delighting in our return to the barn with its fabulous views, soothing shower and super comfy bed. We'd highly recommend the barn to any couple looking to immerse in the nature of Dartmoor.
