When you open the window from the living room, the semi-open-air bath directly connected to the garden invites guests to the best healing experience regardless of the season. The bathtub is made of Shigaraki-yaki, produced in a kiln in Shiga Prefecture. The far infrared effect warms the body to the core and makes it difficult for the bath to cool down. Why not relax from the daily grind while enjoying a drink and taking in the beautiful Japanese garden? The Japanese-style room on the second floor features a shoji screen with a Mondrian-style design. The bedroom headboard is designed to resemble the Tateyama mountain range. Reikaku Yasaka | Gion | Historical Machiya

Reikaku Yasaka was a building in ruins with the floor tilted by at least 30cm when we discovered this hidden jewel. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. The result is Japanese craftsmanship at its best and we are very proud to be able to share the result with the rest of the world. Check our other house as an alternate option @ Reikaku Kiyomizu-Gojo

"Kunitsukami" araka-tanaka is a traditional Japanese 'machiya' is centrally-located in Gion. It was designated in Gion historic district building by Kyoto City Gov. The house was built in 1892, and was completely restored under the supervision of Kyoto City Gov, and it was stand up for historical Gion principle. It is rented an entire house, and private!
