Guest house holiday rentals in James River

Love our two night stay at Glenn's carriage house. In a really pretty neighborhood with extremely close access to the great park system that runs along the James River. Convenient to access all areas around Richmond. Glenn was responsive when we needed to ask about check out instructions while also not overly communicating. Would highly recommend!

Place was clean and check in was very easy. Not much natural light gets in to the space is the only draw back.

Victoria was amazing and quick to respond. She was very accommodating for a last minute booking. The place was cozy and private. Would recommend.

Our stay at Kelly's may be the best experience I've had so far with Airbnb (no shade on my other hosts!). The cabin and surrounding property were gorgeous, and Kelly and her husband were so friendly and welcoming. We also met their doggies, donkeys, cows, and kitty, and they were all friendly too! The cabin itself was absolutely wonderful. The location is so peaceful and really encourages lazy mornings with coffee on that amazing porch. Comfortable beds, great water pressure in the shower, cozy kitchenette (the mini-fridge has a freezer compartment!)...we really were very comfortable for the nice long weekend away. My sister is already talking about coming back!

The Fox Den is one of the cleanest places we've ever stayed. We enjoyed watching the sunset from the hot tub, roasting marshmallows at the outdoor fireplace, grilling steak, and simply relaxing for a couple of days. The cottage had everything we needed for cooking and grilling. Although the cottage and hot tub are located next to the main house, we still felt a sense of privacy. We've been visiting different Airbnbs annually in the VA and PA areas, and the location of this one was excellent. We followed two of the recommendations from the provided guidebook, and they were amazing (Carter's Mountain Orchard and Fiorano Restaurant).

We really enjoyed our stay. The pool alone was 5stars and the cleanliness and guest house was exceptionally nice as well. My grandson claimed to have "The BEST day ever" swimming in the pool. we loved the privacy and the beautiful flowers and landscaping it was perfect. I hope to be able to come back soon.

This cute place was perfect for what I needed and was a home away from home. It was quiet and peaceful. I had everything I needed in the kitchen to make my own meals. I would definitely stay again.

I absolutely loved our stay at Leigh’s place. I genuinely cannot recommend this spot enough if you’re needing to get away and just unwind. Beautiful surroundings, quiet, and just overall very peaceful. Leigh was such a great and accommodating host! We will be back!

Cute little house right beside a field of curious cows! Great for us this weekend because we were not really there much. There were a few cameras outside which made it feel like you didn't have total privacy. Close to host's residence, which was fine just not expected. RV parked right outside the front door obstructing some views. But overall worth it and would probably stay again.

Elizabeth was so helpful and accommodating with our evolving arrival situation and a change in our pet situation. She made our arrival so much less stressful! The place is a great location, peaceful and quiet, but very close to downtown. The neighborhood is lovely, and right across the street from Evie’s which is a fabulous bakery and bistro. If you are traveling with pets, the set up is wonderful. It’s spacious and easy to have your pets there. There is also a desk and working area if anyone needs to “work from home” while traveling. The beds were also quite comfortable. Elizabeth’s place is a quaint, unique, historic building that gives you a great SW Roanoke experience while traveling with your pets!

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful weekend at Scott and Christi's place. It's very peaceful and we appreciated how friendly and helpful they are. There are ducks, horses, and chickens on the property which you can appreciate from the screened-in porch while sipping your coffee. The drive to Charlottesville is relatively short and very scenic; the house is also close to many popular wineries. We also got some snacks upon our arrival! I appreciate the little ways Scott and Christi went the extra mile to make our stay an enjoyable one!

This is our second time saying with Dale and she is a great host. Love the area and will be staying again.

I have a lot of family in this town, but I don’t live close so I often stay in an Airbnb or a hotel which is further away. I have a lot of New Castle and surrounding areas weekend vacationing experience. This is the best one in town. It’s among the best I’ve ever stayed in anywhere, because it’s beautifully put together and comfortable at the same time. There’s no question that I will return. Great job Jason and team! You made a difficult weekend for me peaceful and comfortable. If I could give you 10 stars I would!

We had a lovely weekend getaway at Zac and Leyla’s. The cottage is charming and cozy, very well equipped, we had everything we needed and appreciated the thoughtful touches. Highly recommend it for anyone passing through the area. Would love to come back!

I was so pleased to find a tiny home to stay at; a huge step up from a hotel without the cost of staying at a large multi-family rental home. This was a perfectly comfortable spot for our small family of 4 (1 & 4 yr old kiddos). I was pleasantly surprised that our guava lotus pack & play fit nicely on one side of the bed and our stokke jetkids cloud sleeper inflatable toddler mattress fit perfectly on the other side of the bed. We prefer to share a room with our young kids so the living room is usable after bedtime; it was a perfect set up. Everything was clean and felt private and comfortable. Everything we needed for a 3 night stay. Host provided good recommendations and information and was easy to communicate with as needed. Thank you!

The area is peaceful and charming—an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you're into nature, history, or just looking for a relaxing weekend, Suffolk has it all. The accommodations were spotless and beautifully maintained, with thoughtful touches that made us feel right at home. We especially loved waking up to serene views and enjoying coffee on the porch. There were great local dining options, scenic trails, and friendly locals who made the experience even more special. This trip exceeded all our expectations. We’re already planning our next visit. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet and rejuvenating retreat!

We spent two nights at David’s place and it was a wonderful place to come back to after a long hike. The cottage was clean and cozy, but the one of the highlights of our trip was watching the sunset on the patio. The property is spectacular! Also bonus points for the mini muffins! Kat and Mike were fantastic hosts. This studio unit was exactly what we needed for our visit. Thoughtfully stocked with items to make your stay easy and comfortable, very clean, and with a wonderfully comfortable bed for a good nights sleep. The location is in an established residential neighborhood that was very quiet. Watching the birds at their feeders from the screen porch while having coffee in the morning was a great start to the day. An overall excellent experience.

My boyfriend and I loved our stay at this beautiful lake side home. The hosts were really cool and fun to talk to. The pictures matched the description perfectly! The Space was clean and felt right at home. 10/10 would book again.

Very relaxing stay. Check-in with a code which is always very convenient. The bed was comfortable and the property was exactly as described. Sitting on the balcony and sipping coffee is a must. The apartment is also very close to Richmond and nearby battlefields. We highly recommend this space and would stay again.

Really nice place, comfortable and good location for visiting area attractions. We will look at staying there again in the future. Christina provided great information prior to and during our stay. We only used the kitchen for breakfasts, but it was set up for cooking, mixing drinks, etc.

I loved staying at this spot! Easily walkable to JMU and downtown. And the place had everything you need. Loved my stay here!
