"De Gulle pracht" Vacation home, Friesland

Our cozy holiday home was originally an old stable that we (Caroline and Jan) converted together, full of love and respect for the old details and materials, into this "Gulle Pracht". Through a private driveway with parking you reach the terrace with the spacious garden, a lawn with surrounding tall trees, where you can indulge. Through the two opening doors you enter the bright and cozy living room with the white old beams and a fully equipped open kitchen. Wireless internet, TV and DVD are available. The removed ceiling in the living room lets in beautiful light from the skylights and gives you a view of the roof construction with the old round teachers. The beds can be found on top of the two vides. The comfortable double bed is accessed by an open staircase. The other loft, where a third or fourth bed can be realized, can only be reached by flexible guests via a ladder. For small children it is not suitable there because of the danger of falling, larger children find it exciting to sleep there. Please note, the two vides share the same large open space. Beneath the old beams you can enjoy a peaceful sleep, where only the sound of noisy trees, whistling birds or your wonderfully snoring bedfellow will be heard. The room is heated CV, but also only the wood-burning stove can comfortably heat the cottage. You will get enough wood from us at your disposal to light a cosy fire. An old barn door in the living room leads into the bathroom with beamed ceiling and underfloor heating. The bathroom has a good shower, double sink and toilet. With its inlaid mosaics and all kinds of funny and old details, this space is also a pleasure for the eye. There are two bikes available for beautiful trips in the wide area (Harlingen, Franeker Bolsward). We may want to drop you off in Harlingen for a crossing to Terschelling. You can leave the car in our yard for a while. We ourselves live in the farm that is on the same yard. We are available for help, information and advice for fun trips in our beautiful Friesland. Your cottage and our farmhouse are separated by our garden and the large old barn (with pool table), so we both have our own space and privacy. Kimswerd , located on the eleven city route, is a small, quiet and beautiful village where our Frisian hero " de Grutte Pier" was born and lived. He still watches over us, in petrified form, at the beginning of our street, next to the centuries-old Church, which is certainly worth seeing. You can do your shopping in the Harlingen, the supermarket is a fifteen minute bike ride. The old harbour of Harlingen is 10 km away from our cottage. Kimswerd is located just above the dam. From there follow signs N31 Harlingen/ Leeuwarden/Zurich and take the first exit Kimswerd, at the roundabout 1st right, at the next roundabout again 1st right, at the crossing straight on over the bridge and directly first street left (Jan Timmerstraat). At the beginning of this street, next to the church, stands the statue of the Grutte Pier. You live in the farm behind the church, Jan timmerstraat 6, first wide gravel path on the right. -For small children, sleeping on the meadow without a fence is not suitable due to the risk of falling. For big children it is fun, the loft is accessible by a ladder. Please note, it is above 1 large open space without privacy.

Sleeping at the sheep & a whole herd of horses.

Wake up to the view of the dining room of a herd of horses that live in freedom, 2 pigs who make their bed every night in front of the window and sometimes a sheep walks by. Closer to the pure things in life. Therefore, there is no WiFi and no TV. However, there is a large table to play games with each other and a lovely sofa to have a glass of wine together. Studio Pekelvisch consists of a simple space on the ground floor and a sleeping loft above. Compact, tough furnished with lots of old building materials. Don't expect lavish luxury, but authenticity, charm and soothing tranquility.

We were simply absolutely amazed by Sterre's vacation apartment. It is very stylishly equipped and has everything you need. The peace and quiet is incredibly beautiful and the sunrise over the field is impressive. The ponies, sheep and cats are another highlight. The beautiful Harlingen with its restaurants and shops can be reached very quickly by car. Sterre is very friendly and the communication was very pleasant and uncomplicated. We would always come back :)

This is one of the most beautifully decorated homes I have ever had the pleasure of renting. Thoughtful understated elegance would be the theme for this exceptional canal house perfectly located in the quaint city of Harlingen. It is truly a sumptuous environment. There is a fine wool plaid blanket in the Blue grand room that promises instant napping. We spent over a month this Spring and my favorite pastime was reading a book under the beautiful old Gingko tree in the private garden listening to church bells and barges. The air is so clean and fresh too! Further, the Host is kind and generous. Please take care of this amazing listing because I want everything to be as it was when I come back again. Thank you for making my family feel so welcome.

We were away for another friend's wedding for a night with three friends. This Airbnb was a perfect place for us! It was a small, nicely decorated space with all the comforts and very clean. The clear instruction made it easy to find. The center was also within walking distance (15 min) so good for us for a bite to eat in Harlingen. The communication was very nice and they were also very helpful when it turned out that a friend had left something in the cottage. Highly recommended and we will probably come back again (hopefully a little longer next time!)
