Holiday rentals in Mothecombe

We had a perfect few days in lovely Newton Ferrers. We found Close Quarters to be a great location given its access to the estuary and local facilities. Roz’s description was very accurate with the deck being the obvious highlight for us with the beautiful weather we had. We did have some issues with the Wi-Fi as mentioned in the previous review but this didn’t spoil our enjoyment. We would love to return.

Buttercup pod was even more than we had hoped. The perfect place for a peaceful weekend with our 3 & 5 year olds. The pod itself is beyond beautiful (bunk beds were a hit) but it was the outdoor space that really blew us away. It truly felt like we were the only people for miles - the children rode their bikes and explored the surroundings for hours, toasted marshmallows in the fire pit, made pizzas in the pizza oven, and we lost count of time spent in the hot tub. Rowland was super helpful and even let us check in early so we could enjoy the better weather which we really appreciated, and responded to any queries super quickly. We would 100% recommend buttercup pod. It was just perfect.

We had the most incredible stay at this property. The views alone were some of the best we’ve ever experienced, with the deck overlooking the sea. The beach is a short walk down the cliff side from the property (the walk back up is a workout to say the least, especially on a boiling hot day!) and a stroll across the sand couldn’t have been more peaceful. Christian was a great host and was quick to respond to any questions. This is the perfect place to switch off, with bedrooms with great views and a spacious living room and kitchen. The only thing we’d suggest is possibly bringing your own essentials, such as milk, butter and cooking bits as local shops are about a 15 minute drive. Overall we can’t recommend this place enough, we really needed to reset after a hectic few months and we finally managed to here for which we are so grateful.

We had the most amazing week with our 4 boys at The Old Guard in May. We have been renting various properties in Hope Cove for many years. Wendy's property is now our absolute favourite!! Not only did we have fabulous weather but the location is just perfect for getting out on the kayaks etc The warm outdoor shower is brilliant for when you get back! The balcony is very large and a great space! The views from the balcony are spectacular and the sunsets incredible. The kitchen had everything you need. They utility area with washer and dryer is very useful staying with a family. The property was really well designed & clean and comfortable to stay in. Wendy had said the parking would be tight, but we got our 2 vehicles in no problem just a bit of time to go back and forth and one is a long wheelbase Mercedes Vito! We would definitely recommend staying here and would love to come back again! Thank you Wendy for all your messages and prompt replies when we had any questions.

Nicki’s apartment at Bigbury on Sea is just great. Well equipped, amazing views and in a beautiful part of Devon. Use of the indoor pool is amazing for kids, especially when the weather is a bit mixed! Nicki gave lots of info and recommendations which were super helpful. I hope to be back at Bigbury soon!

Malt Cottage is a wonderful place with great views. We especially liked to watch the ebb & flow over the run of the day. The cottage is well organized, equipped and has very comfortable beds. Upfront information was very helpful and Rebecca was all the time very responsive and helpfull. The village is very nice and we loved the Swan Inn and the friendly community. With perfect sunny weather we had a very enjoyable week.

Me and my partner have just got back after spending 4 nights at the little barn. Everything was as described. The photos don’t do the size justice it is huge! More than enough space for 2 people. The decor is lovely and just to our tase. The shower is amazing! It was lovely to see the horses and pony right outside the kitchen and bedroom window. Also the chickens roaming freely. Everything we wanted or needed plus more was there, tea, coffee , sugar and milk for when we arrived, oh and the lovely farm fresh eggs, these were delicious! The kitchen is kitted out perfectly. The hot tub on the decking area was an added bonus, watching the sun set of an evening whilst enjoying an Aperol spritz was amazing. Also the bbq was a superb added touch. Philippa was a perfect host! There if you needed. Philippa also advised us of places to go, I can highly recommend Tavistock, a lovely town only half an hour away. There’s plenty of places to visit. We have already booked for next year!

We spent a very happy week at Pentire. The cottage was very well equipped, spacious, clean and comfortable. It has amazing views over the village and surrounding countryside. It was important to us to stay somewhere that would be a great base to relax and hang out in, whatever the weather. The conservatory area was a great space to enjoy watching the abundant local wildlife; deer, foxes, rabbits, wonderful bird watching including swifts, house martins and swallows. The host, Peter, was very welcoming and helpful. We had no issues during our stay but were confident he would have been quick to answer any queries or sort out any problems. Holbeton is a welcoming, friendly village. It has a wonderful, well supported pub, The Mildmay Colours (small menu but very good food) and an excellent village shop. Both a short walk from the cottage. Loads to see and do. We will return!
