Located in the forest near South Yuba River outside Nevada City, my home is a great spot to start an epic hike to the river, a peaceful stroll, or to drink tea in front of the fireplace. Down a dirt road, it's secluded but with wonderful neighbors. The closest town is 45 minutes away, and has great organic, farm-to-table restaurants. An ideal spot for someone interested in natural building or homesteading.

A Grass-Roofed Earthen Hobbit Hut

This uniquely constructed cob hut was crafted by sculptor Miguel Elliott of Living Earth Structures. The thick walls provide natural insulation, keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter. It was constructed out of Adobe bricks from the property and features a living grass roof transporting you to Middle Earth. The cottage nightly rate includes a county occupancy tax of 11%. A separate owner Rental Agreement is required.

The house is magical inside and out, with unique curved walls and ceilings, facing a seasonal pond and home to much wildlife. Sit outside at night under the Milky Way, watching shooting stars and listening to toads in the pond. Please note the bedroom is upstairs, the bathroom is down an external staircase. There is no oven.
