Cottage holiday rentals in Rappahannock River

This is our second time visiting and a perfect spot with everything we needed. Could provide more dish towels, paper towels, and trash bags but supplies were provided quickly upon request.

We loved out time at this Bayside home. My boys spent outside upon hours at the little private beach, where the water doesn't really get deep for quite a ways and the waves were never very rough. it was perfect for them. we all enjoyed the hot tub, kayaks, comfortable beds. My personal favorite was the hammock right by the water, listening to nothing but the waves and the calls of the ospreys that made the area their home. Forget the overly built up touristy areas and give this place a try. You will not regret it.

Emilio and Wanda’s home was absolutely lovely. They thought of everything to make our stay so enjoyable. Would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing stay. So very close to Solomon’s Island. Thank you Emilio and Wanda!

We absolutely loved staying at this beautiful and private home. The sound of the stream on the property and the quiet privacy provide a real oasis. The home is tasteful and has everything you need. It was comfortable and a joy to stay at. Cleanliness was excellent and my kids loved the hot tub and roasting marshmallows in the backyard. It was so nice that they provided everything we needed including dry wood, a lighter and starter! Would definitely stay here again.

This lake house was such a relaxing place to stay! Had everything we needed and then some. It’s a bit of a hill to climb to get back to the house from the lake but not terrible. The beach recommendations were great! We found a ton of shark teeth and the kids really enjoyed themselves.

We had a wonderful stay at Majestic Meadows. Sandy & Chris were wonderful hosts and the property was a great home away from home, with a beautiful courtyard full of colorful birds, a private pool, and a ton of flowering plants. Close enough to town to not feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, but far away enough to feel secluded. I wouldn’t hesitate to book here again. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing girls' weekend! The house was cozy, spotless and perfect for our group. Dolly & Brendan were super responsive and gave us terrific recommendations for local restaurants and wineries - everything we tried was a hit. We loved being able to sit outside and unwind by the firepit. Would definitely stay here again!

Amazing, immaculate property, peaceful setting, thoughtful hosts! The mountain cottage exceeded our expectations. The home looks exactly like the photos and has all of the amenities. No surprises, no builders grade junky stuff - granite countertops, new appliances, upgraded cabinetry with soft close drawers, large tiled shower with built in bench seat, lighted closets, working blinds, no step access into and through out the home. You walk in to find a welcome basket of water and snacks with a card from hosts. There are books for appliances if needed and a book that provides needed information and options for dining and recreation. Feels private! We had beautiful bird song in the mornings, saw a deer at the end of the driveway and many deer on the roads to the cottage. There is a fishing pond within a half mile and the North fork of the Shenandoah is close by. We enjoyed the peace, nature, cruising Skyline Drive and time with our family. The listing first reported that the home is typically booked -- I now believe it probably would have been had it not been for sheer good fortune. The location on the water in the private-like inlet called Mill Creek adjacent to the Severn river near Annapolis Harbor and the Naval Academy was perfect. Though close to so many things -- including hearing bugles played in the evening and morning from the Academy -- it was also peaceful and calming. Michael was responsive within minutes of my texts and even accommodated an extra day's stay. Every possible amenity was available from add'l drinking water to makeup remover. All was clean and even the bedding in a humid environment was pristine. Remote controls were labeled and extra batteries in the pantry. Lots of Keurig pods. With easy evening bird watching on the side porch after working during the day on fast wireless internet, we were spoiled in this idyllic house. We will soon return with our spouses for more retreats!

The cottage was in a perfect location for my sisters and I to stay for our "sisters weekend" escape. The setting is beautiful and so relaxing. There was plenty of room for us and everything was clean and tidy. We took advantage of the kayaks during the day and had a wonderful fire with s'mores in the evening looking out over the water. We will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this AIRBNB. It was walking distance to a nice Mexican Restaurant as well as to a brewery. We spent hours on the front porch in the nice rocking chairs. The back of the property overlooked the water which was beautiful! It was close to everything in town! The house was clean and had all of the necessities. We also enjoyed the front sitting area during the morning. The owner was responsive and helpful! We would definitely recommend this property.

If you’re on the fence about booking don’t be. Shannons place was absolutely perfect. Set in a quiet neighborhood it was so peaceful! The house was amazing, clean, and comfortable. Shannon went above and beyond to make our stay personal and cozy. Would definitely stay again!

This was our second stay here. Second time was just as good as the first. The fenced yard for the dog was what originally made us book here, but the beautiful location and well-appointed house will keep us coming back. This trip was the first time we were able to use the walk on access to Montpelier and that was a nice added bonus.

This is my second time staying at this cottage. The location is beautiful, the private beach is great for kids, and all the welcome gifts and fresh flowers are a friendly touch. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking, and the two bedrooms made for a comfortable stay for my family of four. We enjoyed the Fisherman’s Museum in Reedsville and the local coffee, Fawn’s. Northern Neck is a lovely area and everyone we ran into the whole weekend was incredibly friendly.

Incredible stay on a beautiful property. It’s quiet, private, VERY well maintained and just awesome. I truly hope to stay at this location again in the future because it was that great! You can tell the history in the cottage yet it’s updated and cozy. Also I’ve NEVER stayed at a location so clean!!!! From the cottage itself to the grounds, everything was very well taken care of.

Joyce has done a phenomenal job with this lake house. Everything has been thought through. The house actually looks even better than the pictures. You can tell a lot of thought went into the decor. And it is super clean. The kitchen is fully stacked with everything you would need ant home or away. Ample seasoned fire wood and starter sticks makes using their MASSIVE fire pit a breeze. The best part is she gives you access to both of their docks and you will not have to take your boat or kayak out of the water once. We kayak fished Johnson’s and Lacey’s with ease from her house. 100% coming back to stay again.

Last flight out was perfect for our family of four. The location was absolutely stellar, with its own private beach. The water was calm and everyone loved swimming. The furnishings were all clean and new. We spent almost all of our time out on the huge patio, which had plenty of seating. Brandon thought of everything and was so responsive anytime we had a question while we were there. Definitely recommend and hope to come back one day.

Janet has a unique property considering the destination is on an island... it has it's own dock which affords guests the ultimate in flexibility. It was the main reason we elected to overnight there. My son and I only had one night for the fishing trip in our own boat over father's day weekend so it was not a deal-breaker we had to book 2 nights. The simplicity of motoring up after a day on the water with all of our gear and the convenience for being up early to catch the right tide was a perfect fit. Wish we had 2 nights to stay and have better luck with the weather... and the fish, but we will be back. Thanks Janet!

This house is downright wonderful. Everything is beautiful, clean and cozy. It is all just as it should be. The host was perfect: accommodating, thoughtful, and friendly. The surroundings sublime, with peace oozing out of every square inch of the house and property. There is a creek behind the house that is the icing on the cake. Wow.

This is our second time staying at Tranquil cottage. It's a beautiful, clean, and comfortable place to stay close to Charlottesville and feels like home. We love the peaceful atmosphere and all the animal friends. And Cynthia is a great host. We'll definitely be back again.

I've stayed with a friend at Tammy's Cozy Little Cottage several times now. I always look forward to being there.
