Holiday rentals with lake access in Rappahannock River

This place was great for our golf trip to Williamsburg! This was our second time renting it.

My mom, sisters, friends and I enjoyed a relaxing fun filled time at the Coastal Oasis at the Chesapeake for our Mother's Day Retreat. The view is amazing and truly can be seen from every room in the house! Being able to see the beauty and calmness of the water helped each of us kick back and let the stress melt away. The big dinning room table allowed all of us all to enjoy breakfasts, dinners and touching conversations together. My guests loved the décor and raved about every detail. The beds and furniture were comfortable and house clean. I would definitely come back!

We had a great time at Greg’s and Nicole’s place! I highly recommend it. We especially appreciated how well stocked the kitchen was, as it is somewhat rare to find when staying at a rental.

A great stay on the river. The kitchen was well equipped and the rest of the house was comfortable. The screened in porch and access to the dock/beach/river was our favorite part. Our dogs were in HEAVEN. The location is rather remote, so recommend bringing any food you'll want as there are no close stores or restaurants.

Had a relaxing few days at this cute cottage on the river. Lovely porch with a view. Very secluded but easy to get to all of Richmond's attractions. Bubba the donkey was very welcoming. We couldn't come or go without petting him!

This home is just as advertised...it is very large, great for several families vacationing together! Our group was small so we didn't even make use of all of the space. The house is right on Tanner Creek which is just beautiful for sitting on the dock and relaxing, paddleboarding and kayaking, birdwatching, etc. It's also about a mile from Lookout Point State Park which is absolutely gorgeous. Restaurants and grocery stores are few and far between in this area, so it's a good idea to bring your own food, and the kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans for cooking. If you are looking for a place to relax in a calm and beautiful setting, this is it!

My family and I stayed here for a week for our family vacation. We are a group of 8 (6 adults and 2 kids) and there was plenty of room for all of us. We barely left the house because with the beautiful view, dock, beach area, canoe, kayaks, hot tub, game room/ library, corn hole, and fire pit we all had plenty to keep us entertained. Everyone loved Mary & Shelly’s place, and it provided the perfect space for us to enjoy the river and each other’s company!

Both Dan and Scott could not have been better hosts. This is our 2nd year in a row staying at the Sunnyside Up cottage and we couldn’t have picked a better place. The cottage is quaint and clean. It is fully stocked and has everything you could need for a few nights stay. The communication was excellent and the instructions were very clear for checking in and out. We will definitely return for another stay in the future. The best part about the Sunnyside Up cottage are the views of the river! They are gorgeous!!

Such a great space with everything you need. You’ll enjoy your view in the comfort of the space. The view and the environment were great but having a place to be comfortable in was even better.

Was a great location to stay. Everything that we wanted to do was in walking distance. Darrell is a great host. Looking forward to staying there again.

Lisa’s place was amazing! My daughter and I had a great visit. The location is perfect for going into Annapolis. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great few days!

Cute and cozy! I felt right at home. Jordan and Danny are very nice folks, the apartment is very well appointed. There is a dock on the property that I should have spent more time on. The bed was a dream to sleep in and I literally overslept my alarm the first day. You will definitely need a car to get around but the apartment is a 3min drive to Safeway, Walgreens, Starbucks, etc. The neighborhood has a homey feel and the apartment has a homey feel which was my jam. My dog had a little accident but I got some carpet cleaner and let Jordan know and she was very understanding. I would definitely stay here again if I am visiting Kent Island.

Place was nice and in a good location. Host was responsive. Good news is that it’s in a good location, but it is by the main road and can get a little loud, probably mostly on weekend nights. But places close early, so noise doesn’t last long..

We had a wonderful stay at Shawn's place. It is located in an absolutely beautiful area with a gorgeous view of the water. The place was beautifully decorated, and the bed was very comfortable. There were plenty of places to relax outside with a view of the water. We enjoyed taking the kayaks out and watching the sunset each night. Shawn was a lovely host and is a genuine person who wants you to have the best stay!

We will definitely be back is the best endorsement. Quiet basement space that is in a safe and accessible neighborhood- one bed, living room, kitchen with induction stove, bathroom and cute dining area. Private entrance through the side gate with flood lights making late check in safe and easy. The owner is extremely responsive and lives upstairs but you barely hear anything. It had everything we needed and more. Internet connection was not lightening fast but you can still get online.

Clean. Easy check in and out. Great location; being minutes away from I270 makes venturing out by car as painless as DC traffic can be while also allowing for a day trip to either Baltimore or Gettysburg. Just overall, a very positive stay and definitely recommend.

Joyce has done a phenomenal job with this lake house. Everything has been thought through. The house actually looks even better than the pictures. You can tell a lot of thought went into the decor. And it is super clean. The kitchen is fully stacked with everything you would need ant home or away. Ample seasoned fire wood and starter sticks makes using their MASSIVE fire pit a breeze. The best part is she gives you access to both of their docks and you will not have to take your boat or kayak out of the water once. We kayak fished Johnson’s and Lacey’s with ease from her house. 100% coming back to stay again.

The house was wonderful -- clean, simply furnished, a more-than-adequate kitchen and bathroom. Beds extremely comfortable. The pictures suggest the back yard is on the water....there is actually a house behind Janet's house. BUT, there is an easy-to-access dock that was just wonderful. The single negative? The bugs!! Not anything controllable by others, of course, but did discourage us from the walking of the island we hoped to do. The end of the dock was our refuge -- and the view was just wonderful. Birds plentiful. The people of Smith Island were welcoming, gracious, patient. No exceptions. I am grateful they offer such hospitality.

Keith’s water view cottage is so beautiful and peaceful. My husband and I had a lovely long weekend stay with our little dog. Even with the storms that passed through the bay we felt extremely safe and cozy throughout our stay. Keith was very responsive and flexible with checkin /checkout. Would definitely stay again!! I had an amazing stay for my wedding weekend. The view of the water was unbeatable and the brand new outdoor furniture was great! Heather was very responsive and it was overall a great place to stay!

Incredible stay on a beautiful property. It’s quiet, private, VERY well maintained and just awesome. I truly hope to stay at this location again in the future because it was that great! You can tell the history in the cottage yet it’s updated and cozy. Also I’ve NEVER stayed at a location so clean!!!! From the cottage itself to the grounds, everything was very well taken care of.

Wonderful location. Excellent accommodations. Been there a few times and each visit has been most pleasant.

To celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary, my bride and I stayed at Pretty Byrd cottage for a long weekend - we were just looking to relax and soak in the peace and quiet. We got exactly what we were hoping for - the cottage is very private on its own little island and our only neighbors were all the wonderful birds! The inside of the cottage was wonderfully decorated and had everything we needed for our stay. We didn't want to leave and the whole trip home we talked about when's the next time we should come back.

The house is even cuter in person, and extremely clean. The hosts have literally thought of everything. Every time I would think “I wonder if they have…?” there it would be. The bed was extremely comfortable, hosts respond very quickly, and the neighborhood was super safe and peaceful. I will definitely be staying here next time I’m in town.
