Great cabin with lots of room. I highly recommend staying here. The view of the lake was gorgeous. I’d love to visit again in the summertime.

We will definitely be coming back!! This resort is a gem. It’s located on a beautiful point on a clear, quiet lake. The cabins were recently renovated and adorably decorated while still maintaining a feeling of nostalgia and a quaint cabin feeling. The pictures don’t do it justice. You feel like you’re on a boat staring out the cabin window because the water is so close. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. They also have provided everything you would need for a fun, family getaway-games, sports equipment, a playground, a fun communal gathering space with a store, canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, life jackets, etc.

We would stay again in a heartbeat! The spotless rooms seemed larger than the photos. The beds, furniture and deck are comfortable. We were 4 adults and two preschoolers and it worked for everyone. Although there are many cabins on the lake, it was very quiet during our visit. Swimming and water play were the main focus for us, but we did catch a few fish, too! The dock is large and perfect, and the lake clean. We launched our boat across the lake and docked it. So much was provided in the way of toys! Allison was a wonderful host and offered tons of details, tips and was immediately responsive to questions. Because we were there later in August, some of the advertised children’s events in town had ended for the season, but with so much to do at the cabin, we didn’t miss it. We preferred sitting amongst the tall pines, having a fire, and watching the full moon over the lake while listening to the loons! Little touches, such as homemade fire starters made life easy! Thanks!

Morning coffee enjoying the stellar view of the glassy lake in the morning, and falling asleep to the loons at night are just a couple of the consistent bonuses of this property. The bass fishing was great when the weather permitted. Our group of eight had an incredible time here (despite some poor weather days).

We had a great time in cabin 10. It was very cozy and a beautiful place to watch the first snow fall of the season. Would definitely recommend.

Scott’s place was clean, well appointed, homey, and peaceful with amazing views of the lake. We had everything we needed during our stay, everything was clean and fresh; the beds were comfy, and the linens were clean. The kitchen had everything we needed for all the cooking we did, and the filtered drinking water on tap was a bonus. Checking in and out was easy, and the rules & directions were straightforward and easy to follow. Scott was a great communicator, and all around this was a fantastic stay. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a relaxing and quiet getaway.

The house itself is beautiful and spacious. We used the hot tub and gazebo frequently. Despite the outdoor temps in the -20s, the house was cozy. It is a perfect house for socializing or a getaway with the family

Maggie was absolutely perfect! She helped provide recommendations for us for during our stay. She answered my questions promptly and with excellent information. Immensely recommend any of Maggie’s properties just because of her. The property was excellent with a great view, plenty of space, plenty of outdoor activities we could partake it right on the property. The inside was lavish but cozy, clean, and appropriate. While my partner and I were there, we kept talking about things from the home that we would want a future lake home of our own to have, and this one had them all.

we were in town for a reunion at one of the resorts. this place was perfect. Close by, easy to get to, great access to the beach, very spacious.

Everything was as described and well explained inside the cabin. The toilet didn’t smell at all. There were plenty of kitchen utensils and two electric heaters. The space was clean and comfortable. The two things I didn’t know (which is on me) were: the only way to cook is with a microwave or electric skillet - no cooktop and the beds are three compartments in the walls as shown in the photos. I was fine alone but it may be tight for some or a couple. Bed was very comfortable. Overall the stay on beautiful Shell Lake was worth it.

Beautiful cabin and peaceful lake. The cabin was cozy and clean. Bed was very comfortable.We enjoyed the use of boat and had a blast paddle boarding on river and lake.

We stayed at the cabin for our kids to go to day language camps while we (the parents) worked remotely. I'm going to mention things about our remote work experience that might be useful for those considering this option, since I don't think I saw another review that mentioned wifi and cell phone usage. WiFi was excellent. Both my husband and I were able to have video meetings at the same time with no issues. I was also using HIPPA compliant telehealth, and that worked well too. Streaming services were also excellent at night. Cell phone service was also good. My work cell is Verizon and our personal cells were AT&T and both worked well. My husband worked in the basement/downstairs area and did need to turn on WiFi calling to help with the cell signal in that space - understandable with the concrete walls. We all loved the quiet setting and the kids loved going down to the beach and going in the canoe. Overall, a great stay!

This cabin exceeded all of our expectations!! It was truly amazing. We fished a lot of the dock and even warmed up a little to take the kayaks out. We went to the ice cream shop down the road and our 7 year old was in heaven. They have everything there you need!! It was perfect for our family of four and we will definitely be back!

This is the 3rd time we have stayed, and it has continued to be a great location for our family. It is about 20 minutes from Bemidji, about 16 minutes to Park Rapids (Zorbaz) but great things to enjoy right in Lake George.

this property is STUNNING!!! very clean, had everything we needed, and lots of things to do close by!!! it was perfect for our bachelorette party weekend!!

We had a wonderful time staying here. Being right off the lake with the crisp clean air was exactly what we needed to recharge. The Wambolts cabins are like a little gem that we didn’t expect to stumble upon and we hope to come back next year 🤗

This was my first experience doing a mini vacation for myself and I picked the absolute perfect location. It wasn’t around a ton of other cabins and only 14ish minutes from town if I needed anything. I will absolutely tell everyone in my life about this and encourage them to choose this cabin. Definitely will be doing this again.

I happened upon this cabin at the last minute; I just needed a change of scenery. I could not have been happier with every bit of my experience. The cabin was quaint in all the right ways, the views were beyond expectation, and the peacefulness and privacy were perfect. I felt like I was living a dream for the week. THANK YOU!! I work from home as an online teacher, and the Internet connection worked perfectly for me to do that there. This is my new "happy place" and I WILL be back. (Bonus, the trees showed their most brilliant colors during my time there. WOW!) Oh, and if you plan a trip, take advantage of the $25 fee to order groceries to have waiting for you when you arrive. That was an amazing perk!

The cottage was perfect for our fall retreat. Everything about the weekend was exceptional…weather, sunrises/sunsets, fall colors and meeting Steve. His cottage is perfectly tucked in a beautiful setting that feels safe and secure. Steve is a perfect host that cares about his guests stay and comfort.

We had an absolutely wonderful three days at the cabin. So quiet and peaceful! We spent a lot of time down at the dock, on the kayaks and even swimming. Lots of wildlife and even a bear visited the yard on our last day. Mary was wonderful and everything you could possibly need is right there. Clean, still smells new, great spaces - just can’t say enough good! Oh, and only about a five minute drive to Itasca park!

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! It was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing getaway. The beach and dock were beautifully maintained—perfect for enjoying the water. The host was very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat with great amenities!

Larry’s place was a perfect cabin in the woods for my family vacation. We took advantage of the paddle boards and kayaks provided, we spent most of our time on the lake, and Larry was very friendly when he stopped by to make sure we didn’t need anything. We loved this place so much we want to come back next summer. A perfect secluded place in the woods and highly recommend! Thanks Larry and Mary!
