  • Great stay

    David2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay- we had 20+ friends/ families on the first night, around 16 on the second. As we were a group of mixed age and gender, working out the configuration was quite difficult for us. We made the master bedroom into boy's dormitory by putting few extra mattresses on the floor which we had brought with us, which we were not charged for- , and it worked quite well. We had enough spaces for all generations, there was no feeling that the space was too tiny, even during the cold rainy days. We were allowed guests during the day and there were about 30 of us in the house at one point, but it was totally fine. The only downside might be a noise from outside, as it is nearby M40 motorway. But it did not matter to us too much as we had a lot of things to do. Thank you so much for having us, and hope to be back again soon- we absolutely loved the stay.

    Maki2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous place to stay. Loved the communal spaces which suited our group of mums and daughters so well. Good bedroom and bathroom space and comfy beds too. Would stay again.

A beautiful barn conversion in picturesque Stonor Valley, 10 mins from Henley-on-Thames. The barn is surrounded by a 5 acre garden shared with our farmhouse and enjoys spectacular views. Use of tennis court & indoor pool.
As you enter the barn through tall glass doors, you come into an open-plan sitting room, with double height ceiling and a comfortable seating area. To the right and still part of this open plan room, is a dining table that seats up to 12 and a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, freezer, oven, hob and a dishwasher. Also on the ground floor are two double bedrooms and a bathroom. Upstairs, the barn is made up of two large mezzanine rooms accessed by two staircases flanking the fire place. To the right above the kitchen and dining area is a large family bedroom (described under Accommodation) and to the left on the mezzanine is a Games Room, with a full sized billiard table. The fire place is a focal point of the open plan living room and is in good working order, logs will be provided although the barn is centrally heated. There is no washing machine or tumble dryer but a laundry service can be provided at an additional cost by the owner. Accommodation: This property is advertised for 12, it is ideal for that number if shared between two families with children but for an adult group wanting their own space and privacy we would recommend it for a group of 6, two in each of the three rooms. It can be scaled up further in terms of beds to a maximum of 14 on sofa beds (x2 singles) and truckles (single bed in Master with one truckle below) and doubles (x 5 across x 3 rooms) but this is not recommended for a comfortable stay. Please note there is only one bathroom! The bathroom is spacious, with loo, sink, bath and separate wet-room shower. The accommodation comprises: x 1 double bedroom that sleeps 3 (1 double bed and a single bed, there is a truckle under this single bed so could work for two children) x 1 double bedroom that sleeps 2 (1 double bed) x 1 family bedroom / children's room - this is located on the mezzanine level and sleeps 7 (x 3 double beds and one single sofa bed). Please note that this is on a mezzanine and open to the living area below, it is perhaps a consideration for those with young children who are light sleepers and likely to be disturbed by light or noise from the main sitting room below. A travel cot is also available for small infants. In the Games Room there is a further single sofa bed if required. Tennis Court: This is right next door to the guest house and can be used by guests as they please. Swimming Pool: The indoor pool is attached to the farmhouse and must be accessed via the house, therefore it will be offered to guests between the hours of 8am and 7pm. Pool towels are provided.
The Stonor Valley is situated in the Chilterns just 10 minutes drive from Henley-on-Thames and is an area of outstanding natural beauty. The village of Pishill, is charming, it has a local pub, The Crown Inn and a 12th century church. This is a dream location for walkers and cyclists. We provide a map to help you plan walking and cycling routes. For those seeking a little culture, we are also just a mile away from neighbouring village, Stonor where the impressive country house, Stonor Park is situated amidst a stunning deer park. The house and garden are open to the public at restricted times, so check their website before planning your visit. Whilst this is a rural area, there is no shortage of good places to eat from Michelin starred restaurants to honest local pubs, many within walking distance and all listed in the information booklet, a pdf of which can be sent to you prior to your stay. If you are celebrating a special occasion, we have two 2-star Michelin restaurants in easy reach although early booking is essential. - Raymond Blanch's 'Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons' in Great Milton is 20 minutes away - Tom Kerridge's 'Hand and Flowers' in Marlow is 15 minutes away and his more casual dining tapas bar 'The Coach' is also in Marlow is great (they do not accept reservations and are very busy on Saturdays). Otherwise, for more down to earth dining, there are so many wonderful pubs to choose from serving restaurant standard food to honest pub grub. Henley-on-Thames and Marlow are both beautiful historic towns, boasting lovely walks along the banks of the Thames, good retail therapy with many boutique shops and a good selection of restaurants. Henley has a charming cinema, Regency theatre and the Water and Rowing Museum that alongside a history of rowing, tells the tale of Kenneth Grahame's 'Wind in the Willows' inspired by this stretch of the river. Boat trips, boat and canoe hire are possible from both Marlow and Henley. There are lots of events going on in the area and Pishill is the ideal place to stay of you are visiting: Henley Royal Regatta, Henley Festival, Henley Literary Festival, Garsington Opera (now located on Getty Estate just a few miles away), Ascot Races (40 minutes).
  • We headed to the barn as a plan B after our trip to Rome was cancelled, and suffice to say what a great decision it was. The arrangements were quite last minute, but everything was seamless, from securing the booking to checking out, signs of hosts who have their guests best interest at the heart of offering their accommodation. Whether you are looking for a base to hike round the glorious surroundings, venture in to the local towns, or like us, just use the property and amenities to relax, then the barn is a great option. Cherry pick any of the reviews and all the guests have a glowing tribute to this barn. It is great place and myself and friends will no doubt be back at some point in the future.

    Ben2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! 12 of us went for a long weekend away. The house is gorgeous and the swimming pool was great fun. We got taxis into Henley to do a tour of the excellent pubs. Would recommend highly.

  • What a fantastic location and place to stay! Sarah's Barn is spacious but cosy and with our dog the garden and walks nearby were just fantastic - we also enjoyed the tennis/swimming pool. Some lovely pubs nearby and of course Henley within easy reach. For a family get together I could not recommend it more highly - Thanks Sarah!

    Fee2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s house made a wonderful and relaxing city escape. It rained a lot but we were cozy inside and the kids kept busy in the pool.

    Virginia2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic property with many amenities. Sarah was a personable and easily contactable host. Inside the property has been done to a very high standard; alongside beautiful grounds and surroundings. Stayed here in the run-up to my wedding with my ushers and I am very happy I chose to do so. Would recommend to anyone looking for a property/accommodation in this stunning area

    Jake2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah was such a great host making sure absolutely everything was covered before we arrived, pin pointing the property from both directions, which was so helpful! The view from the house was stunning, not to mention the property itself. We cannot fault this house. Definitely recommend to friend groups, families, literally anyone. There is something in the local area for everyone. We also rate Hobbs of Henley for boat hire!

  • My husband, mother and 3 month old son booked here as a base for the weekend as we had a wedding to attend in Henley. Having a small baby, I wanted somewhere with a kitchen ideally although took our own travel cot. The bedrooms were ideal as very spacious so no problem fitting in a travel cot - this might not have been the case at a local hotel. Check in/out was so smooth and Peter was great and quick at communicating. House was perfect for what we needed and everything else we so easy. Henley itself is only a 10 minute to walk away and the local Waitrose is the closest supermarket and easily within walking distance. Parking was easy and plentiful - not something that can be boasted of many roads in Henley sometimes! The house was quiet and peaceful and neighbours friendly even though we were just visiting!

The apartment is a spacious studio, built a few years ago as an annexe to our house. It's has a comfortable double bed, sofa, dining area, desk, fully equipped kitchen, freezer, washing machine and bathroom with a shower (no bath). Perfect for a quiet getaway or a work trip. There's a desk and dedicated high speed broadband. It's at the bottom of our garden, next to an apple orchard. It's a short walk from the River Thames, with lovely walks in both directions. You're welcome to use the garden outside the apartment and there's a table and chairs for guest use.
We're very well placed for access to London (we both commute every day) but we're also surrounded by beautiful countryside, and some great places to visit, and some very good pubs and restaurants. The Fat Duck and the Waterside Inn are ten minutes away, Cliveden is about a mile away with beautiful walks, and the walks along the river are lovely.
  • Lovely converted barn studio, would recommend

  • I had a lovely stay. As other people have mentioned you can hear the trains but I didn’t find that an issue all. Their property is in an amazing location and I will definitely stay again.

  • The barn is a fabulous space. Great location, sparkling clean, and a fabulous open space. It is exactly as described and is a lovely place to spend time; very private but near to help from George and Chris if needed. The shower is hot and powerful which is a bonus on a cold winters day!

Walking distance (0.4 miles) from Henley's train station , and in close proximity (0.6 miles) to the town-hall square with its cafes, bars, & restaurants. Experience proper sleep in a new and luxurious, all-natural, Hastens Maranga bed in a quiet Henley road. Enjoy homemade sourdough bread, homemade jam, butter, tea or fresh ground coffee for breakfast. Take advantage of hi-speed wifi and free parking. I also offer a bread-making experience day (see profile) - a great way to de-stress.
Location, location and location: The space is a shortish, flat walk from the train station and town-centre attractions yet is also in close proximity to Mill and Marsh Meadows - fantastic walking areas by the Thames. A little further upstream (reached by walking through Marsh Lock) is a hidden 'beach' popular with open-water swimmers and residents in-the-know: Marsh Lock - https://wildswim.com/marsh-lock . The house itself: Bright and airy Henley townhouse with large, secluded garden, ideal for relaxing, table-tennis, chess, or reading a book. The beds: Guest bedrooms have Hastens, all-natural beds (fresh from the new show-room in Notting Hill) to help ensure a good night's sleep. The Maranga is 160x200cm, the Superia 180x200cm. The bathroom: The bathroom includes a large bath with shower, a separate shower, and wide wash basin for two. The breakfast: Home-made sourdough bread. I make sourdough bread and offer a complementary continental style breakfast comprising a basket of organic bread; butter; Bonne Maman/ homemade jams; tea, and coffee.
Henley has some lovely walks along the river as well as a good array of shops, cafes and restaurants. I particularly like walking over Marsh Lock and swimming in the river when the weather is fine.

  • Really lovely, extremely well equipped flat in a very central and convenient location. Furnishings were stylish and comfortable, and the radiators kept us nice and warm on chilly March evenings. A very welcome touch was the provision of basic food items (bread, milk, eggs, butter, tea, coffee, cereal etc). Overall a great stay - highly recommended.

  • My boyfriend and I were in Henley for the weekend for a wedding at Leander and Mia’s cabin was the perfect place to stay. Despite the cold weather the cabin was lovely and warm, as was the welcome we received from Mia. She kindly offered for us to use her home as a thoroughfare on Saturday morning so that we didn’t need to go down the muddy track in our wedding finery but we just donned our wellies instead -albeit that our unconventional outfits got some strange looks from the local dog walkers! Mia also allowed us a slightly later check out on Sunday morning to allow for potential sore heads -something which my other half needed and very much appreciated! I’d highly recommend a stay in the cabin and would love to come back again in warmer weather. Thanks a million Mia & Paxton x

    Sarah2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and responsive host. The cabin is basically a detachment from the main house. The entrance to the cabin was a bit rough for wintertime. The rain floods the path leaving a mess to cleanup later. Mia was gracious in letting us use an alternate entrance/exit for check-in/check-out.

    Bryan2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mia’s place is a blueprint for how to host on Airbnb. The cabin is new, stylishly designed and decorated, warm, welcoming, and has everything you would need for a small break. It’s clear the hosts are well travelled because there are touches that my wife and I thought were excellent - Things that you would occasionally get while staying away somewhere, but can’t guarantee. Everything has been thought of and made our trip memorable. As far as communication goes, second to none. 5 star in every way.

    Bradley2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Had such a great stay! The place was exactly as pictured, maybe even better. Stylish house with great facilities, comfy bed, great shower and cooking facilities. Thank you for our stay!

    Beth2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mia’s place is sparkling clean, comfortable and stylish. It’s newly done and a joy to stay in. Mia included lots of thoughtful touches like coffee, croissants for breakfast and really nice body wash. We would definitely stay again when we’re in Henley!

    Sonia2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is a nicely decorated and comfortable, cosy space. I stayed overnight for work and it was much better than a hotel room! You can take a nice walk easily to the town. Mia was a warm and welcoming host. Recommended!

    Sarah2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great few days at Mias place, it was everything we expected, 20/25 min walk to town with great shops and restaurants. The place was very clean and tidy and lots of space to enjoy a few days away, everything that Mia advertises. I would highly recommend to anyone. The only thing I would point out was the walk to the cabin is up a mud path which is dimly lit, there are tree roots that you could trip over. We were okay as the weather was sunny and dry all the time we were there, I would imagine if it gets wet and muddy it wouldn't be so good. Apart from that it's 5 stars all the way. Thank you Mia for a lovely stay.

  • Located just a short walk from the centre of Henley, this clean, warm and well-maintained house is ideal for a small group. If travelling by car, the absence of nearby parking spaces may prove a challenge if you have many bags or the weather is bad. I found Deanfield Avenue to be a convenient parking spot with no restrictions - walking distance about 200 metres.

We had a very comfortable stay, nice touches like dishwasher tablets, plenty of toilet roll, shampoo and shower gel (nice brands!) Kitchen isn't super well stocked with stuff (no wooden spoons, for example) but nothing else negative to report. Definitely we recommend for weekend stays for families/small groups.

On arrival at the address, you can knock on the door of the main house - we will be there to greet you and show you to your accommodation. The Hoppy Annexe has private access through a garden gate. Once you are settled, you can come and go as you please. We will provide you with tea & coffee facilities and some milk for the fridge (let us know if you need a particular type - the convenience store stocks all kinds, including vegan). There are always some cereals in the cupboard, and we also provide a few other little extras to make you feel at home. The kitchenette conists of a sink, a toaster & kettle, a microwave, a small fridge-freezer and a washer - there is no dryer but the laundrette is just around the corner or you can use the washing line in the garden if you prefer to dry outside. There is a portable air conditioner available in case of a heatwave (they sometimes happen), and underfloor heating in the tiled floor keeps the Annexe cosy in the colder months. There are plenty of linens and towels in the drawers under the bed, and we've provided a variety of pillows. There is a TV with satellite, free wifi and there are USB charge points behind the bedside cabinets for you to charge your phone. If you'd like to spend an evening chilling, there is a TV with all with Freeview channels - we also have a Roku streaming device, so you can log onto your Netflix or Prime account. Alternatively, there's a DVD player with a small library of both popular and obscure titles.
The Hoppy Annexe is located in a very convenient place - there's a local grocery store, two takeaways, laundrette, gents' barber and bus stop to town just 1 minute away, if that. 10 minutes's walk away, you'll find the local leisure centre with swimming pool. Henley is popular with tourists as it is known for the annual Henley Royal Regatta, as well as several high profile festivals including the gorgeous black-tie Henley Festival, 80s Rewind Festival and superb Henley Literary Festival, when authors and celebrities decend upon Henley for talks in a variety of intimate venues. Henley is a lovely place to visit outside of festival times as well - it's popular for river walks, antique hunting and art galleries. It is also home to the River and Rowing Museum set in the picturesque Mill Meadows park, which hosts interesting and varied exhibitions. We have our own 3-screen Cinema, the Regal - just behind Waitrose and one of the oldest theatres in the UK, the Kenton. Henley town centre is easy to reach by walking down the hill or taking the bus (half-hourly). There you will find a large number of cafes including all the big names you can find in any town, but we recommend one our many independents, such as Hot Gossip, Drifters, Chocolate Cafe or Buendia, which are the first choice with many of the locals. Very recently, 'H Cafe' opened in Market Place - this is the first cafe (with click & collect facility) that Harrod's has opened outside of its iconic Knightsbridge store. For beer lovers, you can take part in the Henley Ale Trail which takes you round the Brakspear's pubs, or book a beer school at Lovibonds, Henley's Craft Brewery - the one-of-a-kind Lovibonds tap room often hosts live music and even open mic events, and is home to a community of mountain bikers who ride through the Chilterns every Sunday morning, come rain or shine. Henley has a number of excellent restaurants, but for a real taste of Henley, we would highly recommend hiking or cycling to one of our many lovely pubs in the countryside for a pub lunch.

The room is light, airy and well maintained. We prefer to let rooms to professional males working away from home. The house is quiet and set in lovely surroundings. We supply a continental breakfast on request. We are situated approx 3 miles from Reading and 5 miles from Henley on Thames. There is private parking for a car, sorry no vans. There is a regular bus service to Reading. Local shops are close by.
The property is situated on the edge of Sonning Common Village....The room overlooks a large rear garden and countryside beyond...
Lovely quiet neighbourhood, good choice of local shops. The house is situated only a few minutes walk away from the surrounding countryside, ideal for walkers. Henley is a 12 minute drive, for shopping, riverside and walking.

Great garden view out of the window too, with a visiting pheasant every morning! There were tasty things set up for breakfast each day and I also really appreciated having a fridge, microwave and tea and coffee facilities in the room. Sue was a perfect hostess, very welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend this room and would welcome the opportunity to stay again.

  • James and Susan's studio/flat was perfect, and I don't say that lightly. It is modern, comfortable, spotless and in a quiet area close to the centre of Henley. The kitchen was generously stocked with all the essentials when I arrived, something they do for all guests. James and Susan were welcoming and friendly while in no way being intrusive, and offered excellent suggestions and advice for their area. I am a walker and there was even an map with local walks clearly marked. 5 star! I will hopefully visit again.

  • I met an old friend at Henley for a couple of days. Sue was happy to make up both beds for us. The apartment was spotlessly clean and very well stocked with everything you could need. It was beautifully decorated. I was particularly delighted that the dressing table was next to a mirror and a plug, and a magnifying mirror was also provided - most hotels forget these simple things! The apartment was really an extension to the house and so was very quiet and easily accessible. The road was also very quiet. Sue was happy to give us advice on walking and where to eat. Check in and out was simple and friendly. It was a 5 minute walk into Henley. I would thoroughly recommend the apartment. Thank you Sue

  • Very good place to be. Perfect price and quality balance.

    Liusjenas2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Ian was a lovely host who was interested to get to know a bit about me and tell a bit about himself when I arrived over a cup of tea. After that we were both very busy so unfortunately we didn't get a chance to catch up before I left but I had a really good stay. Check-in with the little key pad box at the door was super easy and meant that I didn't have to worry about losing the key while I was out and about. The room was a bit bigger than it looked in the picture and there was a nicer little table/desk than in the picture so that was great, very useful. There was the opportunity to use the living room and kitchen as well, and the lovely garden with views of the make beyond. Very reasonably priced too, really can't fault, so would stay again in future if the opportunity arises.

    Ilse2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay. Lovely room. Great communication and flexibility by Ian. Definitely would stay again.

Small double bedroom with comfortable double bed. Bathroom/shower across the hall with priority use. TV, Wifi and coffee/tea making facilities. Additional bedding for hot/cold weather. One mile from Henley town centre. Continental Breakfast included, in the dining room by arrangement. Henley is famous for the Royal Regatta, Music Festival & Rewind and has many excellent restaurants and pubs. Greys Court, Nuffield Place and Cliveden are nearby. Good local transport.
The bathroom is not en-suite but you have preferential use.
Henley has a lot to offer visitors. Many people are visiting for a social event, work, or Tough Mudder, but it is also a great place to stay to enjoy the river (River & Rowing Museum) and the wonderful surrounding countryside which is within easy reach.
  • Wonderful host! Very accommodating

    Jessica2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Nicola is a very welcoming host & an interesting person to talk to having lived in both the Middle- East & Greece in the past. The bedroom was comfortable, the bed linen & bathroom spotlessly clean, and the breakfast (a choice of good quality cereals, yoghurt, plus toast & real coffee or tea, juices etc) plentiful. As others have said, nothing was too much trouble & Nicola accommodated my slightly earlier than expected arrival with grace. For those who want to be able to lock their room, all the bedrooms have this facility although I felt perfectly safe & secure in Nicola's house. My bedroom looked out onto trees & fields & is about a 5 minute drive to Greys Court & about 10-15 minutes to Nuffield Place (both National Trust & well worth a visit). Thank you Nicola.

My home is close to the town centre on a quiet road with plenty of parking. It's a 5 minute walk to shops, restaurants, cafes, a 10 minute walk to the river and train station with links to Reading, Oxford and London. I am 3 miles from The Henley Management college for those attending courses, its an easy drive and on the bus route. There are plenty of varied eateries to suit all tastes and budgets. It is good for single / double occupancy, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
My home is quiet, comfortable and a home from home for my guest. The room has a double bed with comfortable mattress, goose and duck down duvet, hypoallergenic pillows. Linen is 100% cotton. The rooms is located at the front of the house. The bathroom with shower is immediately next to the bedroom and is shared with myself. At the rear of the property is a small, quiet south facing garden. I have a large cuddly and exceedingly friendly British blue cat called Keith who loves meeting people.
Henley is a beautiful and historical market town, situated in the Chilterns. there are many beautiful country walks and cycle routes and of course the river Thames is on the doorstep. In July we have the Royal Regatta, an international rowing event which attracts visitors from all over the world. We also have the Henley Music festival which attracts A list musicians.

  • Lovely clean home, Sarah was lovely & we had a good chat in the brief time I was there due to undertaking an Ultra Challenge Event which meant I wasn’t there on Saturday at all. The home is situated a stones throw from the town which was great for nipping into Henley to meet friends for a meal. Would deffo stay there again if I’m in the area.

Need somewhere to escape to from all this madness? If so, please read on.... * Super clean house . * Hanker down and work from home * Use of a lovely garden with river walks on your doorstep. * Please contact me for bookings of 2 weeks or more for a reduced rate. My house is a lovely 2 bedroom Victorian cottage with a quirky mix of modern & vintage pieces. It is an 8 minute walk into Henley which is a beautiful market town on the river Thames. Many thanks for looking! Sarah
The house is a quirky mix of modern and vintage pieces and has a really lovely, homely feel to it. It has an open plan lounge/dining room area with wood burning stove and original wooden floor, a galley kitchen and modern bathroom downstairs. The main bedroom has a very calming feel, with a beautiful new French style bed and king size Tempur mattress. The second bedroom has a double bed. It has a lovely cottage garden full of flowers in summer with a patio area and large garden table & chairs. There is a BBQ with charcoal provided and a large parasol. Parking is outside on the road.
Henley is a beautiful market town set on the river Thames and famous for the Royal Regatta which takes place every June/July. It is a vibrant town with a theatre, cinema and lots of festivals including the stunning Henley festival (music) in July, situated on the river bank with a floating stage, 80's Rewind festival at the end of August and the literary festival in September. It has a picturesque market square with outdoor cafes, restaurants and plenty of shops. Situated in a beautiful area with some lovely villages in the surrounding Chiltern Hills, this is an excellent area for walking, cycling, kayaking and generally pottering around on the river where canoes and boats can be hired to explore this piece of 'Wind in the Willows'.
  • This is a lovely little house with a nice open plan living/dining area and a beautiful garden (although we didn't get to go outside due to the rain). Sarah our host was very good at communicating everything to us and there were small touches including fresh flowers and a little welcome card that made us feel welcome. There is a wood burner and logs were available but we didn't need to use it in the end as the house was lovely and warm. The bed in the master bedroom was super comfy and towels were provided which is great. I would definitely recommend this stay to others.
