Places to stay in Long Hanborough
Beautiful 60ft traditional narrow boat on the river, 240v when the engine is running, wifi, external cctv, clean, warm, safe and has a chemical boat loo.The beds are all very comfortable and consist of one main double & bunk and one sofa bed, all in separate rooms. Boat has been on Inspector Lewis
The narrowboat is typically traditional and please note that it is narrow! Please also note that some of the photos have been taken with a wide angle lens. The boat has a cosy wood burner, instant hot water, shower, wifi and a 240V supply when the engine is running. You will be responsible for starting the engine when you want to cook or use the shower, turning on the engine is no more difficult than starting a car. The boat has a semi trad back from which to enjoy the outside. We have a cold box rather than a refrigerator and the cold box is powered by the solar panels, so can be a bit hit and miss on overcast days. Please also remember that boat is not a hotel and comes with its own quirks and pleasures. The power supply on the boat isn't suitable for hair dryers. We do not accept "Stag" or "Hen" parties, sorry guys but the typical mess left behind is just too much!
The boat is often moored near other boats, with a good footpath, as close to the city centre as possible, often near a road for easy loading and unloading from cars or access for taxis. I will be living on another boat which will be moored near you (approximately 500 metres), I will not moor right next to you, but will be at hand.
  • Alan is a charming, friendly, and welcoming host whose hospitality really makes his fantastic boat stand out as a place to stay. The boat itself is clean, modern, and well-appointed; we were warm and cozy even on a cold February weekend. Sleeping areas are great; I am 6' tall and found the bunkbed spacious and comfortable. I've lived in Oxford before and the location is excellent for everything central: the boat is a short walk to anywhere in Oxford, very close to the railway station, and allows for an easy and pleasant walk further afield to Port Meadow. The value of staying here on the canal in the centre of Oxford easily beats any Oxford hotel. I loved my stay here, I've already recommended it to others, and I'm sure I'll be back. Thank you Alan!

  • Alan greeted us with kindness. He gave us useful directions for a great stay. We were 3 people on board and it was a great experience for all of us. Thanks Alan

  • A great place to stay, thank you Alan!

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great way to experience living on a narrow boat and just a different way of visiting Oxford. Even in February it was warm and cosy, with everything you could need, and very centrally located. Alan was super helpful, and on hand if needed. We had a great couple of days, and would do it again.

    Cindy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very cool experience, narrow but fun. Comfy beds and nice warm fire!

    Charlotte2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The houseboat is great and the location is ideal, both in a bucolic setting and close to the city center. But a barge is at the same time a bit of an adventure! If you like the caravan atmosphere you will love it!

    Olivier2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place, brilliant service. Totally loved our stay there

    Hazel2020-02-09T00:00:00Z

  • Hollyhock House is a beautiful country retreat. It is easy to find and Heidi was able to show us around the house at check in. Each bedroom has towels and lovely touches such a shower gel/hot chocolate and biscuits. Charlbury Station is only about 10mins away and is direct to London. The bus also runs near to the house. The artic cabin is a lovely space to relax and toast marshmallows and the house is very well equipped. The only downside is there that are only two showers but it was manageable. Thanks for a great weekend - would recommend!

  • Simply a stunning place to stay, perfect for 16 people. Close to Blenheim Palace for walks and exploring Woodstock. Thoroughly recommend popping into Charlbury for Sunday lunch at the Bull Inn too. The pixie hut is exceptional and was a phenomenal surprise birthday bbq dinner for my guests. Truly couldn’t have been a more special weekend. Heidi is also a delight and couldn’t have been more helpful or accommodating. Thank you for everything!

    James2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a brilliant Airbnb! The house was beautiful, very stylish and had everything we needed. There was plenty of room for everyone to stay and lots of bedding. The location was great, right on the Oxfordshire Way for walking and the village was very picturesque. Heidi was really helpful, offered flexible check in and out and gave us lots of tips for enjoying the house and the area. Would highly recommend!

  • From start to finish Heidi was a pleasure to deal with, and the house is just incredible - we knew it would be nice but the photos don't really do it justice, it's an exquisite place. A wonderful, fun-filled weekend was had and we'd recommend the place to anyone.

Idyllically situated just 6km from Central Oxford, 5km Summertown, 5km Woodstock and Blenheim Palace and 20km Burford (gateway to The Cotswolds) and overlooking the historic St. Peter's Church, the cottages have been luxuriously appointed to the highest contemporary standard. Constructed of Cotswold stone with central and underfloor heating. The studio style layout provides a double room and bed with en-suite bathroom. The cottages are of traditional Cotswold style but have all the modern amenities needed for a perfect Oxford experience. The space is private, clean and modern and the traditional village atmosphere contributes to the charm of the area. The cottages are totally self-contained. They are private and appointed to a high standard.
Although only 15 mins from the centre of Oxford the village of Cassington is pretty and sought after. The cottages are situated at the end of a private lane and overlook the historic Norman country church., St Peter’s. The local friendly country pub The Chequers is 2 mins walk away and there are a great many amazing walks in all directions,

  • Ideal place to stay if visiting Oxford, great hospitality, would stay again.

    David2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kathryn's place is an adorable house located in Jericho, one of the best neighborhoods in Oxford. It is very close to pubs, shops, and the city center. The room is large and comfortable. Kathryn is very hospitable and knows Oxford very well. She gave us some great tips for activities during our trip and for future visits to Oxford.

    Cristian2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rent bicycles on Walton Street close by and you're good to go to explore the colleges near by. Nice and warm atmosphere at the breakfast.

    Aljoša2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kathryn’s place was amazing! Within walking distance of everything Oxford has to offer, pleasant accommodations, nice breakfast in the morning - we couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant stay!

A lovely clean space with a comfortable double bed, built in wardrobe and shelves for clothing and a shower /bathroom en suite. Crisp clean linen, towels and shower materials provided - all less than ten minutes walk from everywhere special in Oxford.
The guest accommodation consists of a double bedroom, in our semi basement, with an en suite shower room. Our house is small (a price we were happy to pay for the central location) so don't expect a huge and spacious room! The bedroom measures 11' x 9' and the bathroom is 3.3m x 2.8m. The room is reached by going downstairs through the garden: it has its own entrance (check out the photos). The house is Edwardian outside but super modern inside - minimalist emphasis on style over content. Guests can expect a clean and comfortable night's sleep on a standard double bed with a 7cm topper on a new mattress. There is an en suite shower/bathroom with towels provided. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided in the room. There is a hairdryer provided with a mirror beside it. There is an electric heater in case you feel chilly in English summers (!) and an iron and ironing board available if wanted. We have also installed a small fridge so you can keep drinks cool and fresh. We are unable to accommodate children here, however little! The size of the room and our guests' preference for spending most of their time out and about in the city means that our room is designed for adults. Three doors down from the house is one of Oxford's best Lebanese restaurants, and up the road is Oxford's trendy Jericho area full of bars and restaurants. There is an excellent art house cinema 7 minutes walk away - which shows lots of foreign films - see photos. The bus station (which has 2 frequent services to London) is 10 minutes walk away and the train station is 15 minutes walk away.
Jericho is the coolest place to live in Oxford. It is its own little neighbourhood with bars, restaurants, cinema, pubs with music nights AND 5 minutes from the main shopping streets and some of the most beautiful architecture in England - Oxford University.
  • Clean, warm, comfortable accommodation in a great location. I've stayed with Hoonie before and am happy to recommend.

    Mick2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Hoonie and Hugh's space is the perfect cosy base for exploring beautiful Oxford

    Lucy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Hoonie's is an oasis of calm and loveliness. It is extremely convenient to downtown and to Jericho. The private garden entrance meant I could come and go on my own schedule. I highly recommend Hoonie's to anyone who is visiting Oxford.

CORONAVIRUS: Our outhouse is isolated and self contained for those worried about Coronavirus. We thoroughly clean it between stays. We are only taking booking currently for essential work or travel due to the Coronavirus epidemic. Oxford is just 3.5 miles away from our spacious garden guesthouse. Relax in peace on the edge of a large woodland. Peace, quiet and nature combined with being very close to Oxford - enjoy !
Tranquility a short distance from the city. This is a new building built for guests' comfort. You'll have nature all around you. Don't be surprised to see and hear owls, deer, bats, squirrels, pheasants and more. We have just installed a new King Size bed with a great mattress.
The neighbourhood is quiet and countrified. Walkers cyclists and horse-riders are familiar sights.
  • Joys place was a lovely retreat in the woods. Perfect for couples wanting to escape to oxford for the weekend. Only a 10 minute taxi into town

    James2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely few days in the outhouse. It was clean and well kept and very handy for travel to Oxford and beyond.

  • Joy’s place was once again spotlessly clean and perfect for my stay. The location is great for trips into oxford and access to the surrounding area. Would recommend to others.

  • Great location, only a 15 minute drive from central oxford depending on traffic. Very cozy living little annex.

    Adam2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here for 8 days in 02/2020, and I cannot recommend this cottage enough as a base for exploring Oxford, Blenheim Palace, and the Cotswolds. The space has one large room and a wonderful bathroom. The bed is very comfortable. I used the wifi, skylights, and TV effortlessly! The hosts provide coffee, tea, cereal, breads, milk, sugar, hot water pot, refrigerator, shampoo, shower wash, hair dryer, and many personal amenities that proved quite helpful. The location is quiet and dark, and it is only a few minutes to the Redbridge Park and Ride into Oxford. In short, I have stayed at many Airbnb places over the years, and this one may be my favorite. I'll return!

    Donna2020-02-22T00:00:00Z

  • We had a fantastic stay at the pod! Well located, yet rural, cosy and lovely touches throughout. We will be back!

  • What a lovely pod!! It’s so well designed with all the hidden storage places. You will be greeted by Melissa who is a great host and really does make you feel welcome. Is there to answer any questions and give recommendations on places to eat etc. She does lovely finishing touches with wine in the fridge and fresh croissants... in such great surroundings with the great views. Really does make you appreciate the countryside compared to being in a busy city! Definitely needed when you’ve got busy working lives..❤️

    Laura2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay. A nice location and Pod that ticked all our boxes. Communication was easy and the tips for places to eat were much appreciated. Thank you, Melissa and Marie-Clare

  • I suprised my husband with a 2 night stay in the pod for his birthday, we both had an amazing trip and could easily of stayed longer........ The pod is a wonderful set up, it has everything you need for your stay, the bed is comfortable it can be made up as a double or as two singles, there's also plenty of storage space for your gear. Melissa met us on arrival and really does match up to her super host title, communication between us was plentiful as I had asked her if she would be able to purchase and put up a birthday banner & balloons for hubby which she kindly did, she also gave me various options of pubs/gastro pubs to go to, we decided to walk to the local The Black Head Inn (10 mins walk away) on our first night's stay for ease, its a pub pub with a simple but very tasty menu. We found the pods location excellent if you have a car as you are very close to everything, Blenheim Palace, Bicester Village, the Cotswolds, Oxford centre and much much more, if you dont own a car you could easily use buses or even cabs as nothing is that far away from you. We both found the stay very very relaxing, you have horses and a donkey on site (which I loved hearing both mornings at 7.40am) he was my alarm call :-) Melissa has two dogs that will come and greet you with a bark like all dogs do but they are both very friendly and very well trained, if your not a doggy person do not worry they are just saying hello to you :-) I was also lucky enough to hear an owl hooting on our first nights stay, he/she must have been very close to us, it really was such a delight. Melissa went over and beyond her super host duties and left us a breakfast of croissants and jam and pasties, orange juice and lastly wine!! which was re-stocked the next night for me :-) totally an unexpected but delightful touch. We will return to the pod again as it was such a delightful stay, I can highly recommend you also book a stay there, you will NOT be disapointed if you do :-) Thanks again to Melissa & Marie-Clare you girls are doing an outstanding job! X

  • We loved staying at Melissa and Marie-Clare's pod! We've never been glamping before but will definitely be trying it again after such a lovely experience. Melissa was a very warm and welcoming host, you could tell she loved showing off her well presented pod. It had all the amenities you could expect from a B&B and more! Thank you for a lovely stay, Steve and Olivia

A lovely room in our home in the heart of a village close to Oxford with road, rail & bus links. It's a short walk to the station for a 10min train to Oxford (and London trains). With woodland and country walks from the front door and red kites often circling overhead, Blenheim Palace & Park is very close by. It's a great base for exploring Oxfordshire & the Cotswolds. The village has 2 CoOp's, post office, fish‘n’chip and pizza takeaway, and good pubs with food. The room has a TV & mini-fridge.
It is a bright, sunny and south-facing, self-contained room at the front of the house which comprises a comfortable bedroom with en suite. The bedroom (10 sq.m) has a good quality double bed and mattress (190x130), hooks and plenty of hangers, an old pine chest of (4) drawers, a mini-fridge, TV, bed-reading lights and free WiFi access. The en suite (4 sq.m) has a quality 'rain' shower (with grab rail), WC (with grab rail), basin and chrome ladder radiator – good quality towels are provided, along with ''Faith in Nature" Lavender & Geranium shower gel, shampoo & conditioner as stocked by Oxfam. TEAs / COFFEE & BREAKFAST: Teas, coffee, sugar and milk are provided in the room with a kettle. An in-room light breakfast is provided of muesli or a choice of flavours of warming 'porridge in a pot' for you to prepare - we'll supply milk if you'd like it - to keep in the mini-fridge. The room is tastefully decorated with original contemporary art, ornaments and family furniture. The digital 24" TV has multiple channels (& radio). We hope and believe you will find it welcoming - whoever you are. Our working lives have taken us all over the world - we are open-minded and welcome internationalism and diversity of all kinds. We keep learning more and more from meeting people of all backgrounds and identities. You're welcome ! DISABLED ACCESS: There is level access (except for a low threshold on the front door) to the room and sufficient space to manoeuvre a manual wheelchair - but not in the en suite, where there are grab rails by the WC and in the shower. We can provide a shower chair and WC seat-raiser and frame if requested, and you are welcome to borrow our lightweight folding wheelchair ramp for your days out if you wish.

Train station an easy walk to travel to Oxford and Blenheim just a short drive, as was the pretty town of Woodstock where we ate one evening. For nearer food and drink we also used the village pub which was a pleasant short stroll away. All in all a very enjoyable experience.

Our home is in the village of Long Hanborough, close to Oxford, Blenheim Palace & the Cotswolds. It is well connected by road, rail & local buses. Hanborough station is 10 mins walk for trains to Oxford. Our large spare room is on the first floor at a quiet end of the house with an en suite bathroom, twin beds of standard size, new WiFi extender & a sitting area with kettle for tea & coffee. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen & help themselves to cereals & toast in the morning.
Our detached, Cotswold stone home has a cottage feel to it but is quite spacious. The house is set back from the road and there is parking on the front driveway. We have a small, quiet, sunny garden at the back with views over the countryside from the upstairs back windows.
The village of Long Hanborough is surrounded by beautiful countryside and it is easy to find walks from the house or to drive to other lovely walking areas. Sheep often graze in the fields at the back of our house and there are thatched, stone, slate and tiled roofed houses and cottages in the village. 'The George and Dragon', a 17th century, partly thatched, Cotswold stone, eating pub, is nearby as are a Co-op shop, Post Office and Fish and Chips shop. There is a children's play area 5 minutes walk away with multi-sport and tennis courts.

  • A lovely place. Self contained with everything you could want and was spotlessly clean. Several options provided for breakfast with thoughtful touches. Hope to be back again.

  • What a perfect getaway! Every single detail thought of and we had a fantastic time! Squeaky clean, every detail seems to have been thought of, elegantly appointed, super comfy and adequate bedding, cozy and warm with morning sunshine streaming through the lovely windows, space to do yoga in the morning, lots of special touches like fruit, toast, butter, jam, marmalades, a Nespresso Machine, some delicious biscuits, bottled water!!! Fresh milk, great television with lots of channels to choose from, just so many thoughtful goodies to make our stay fabulous. Can't say enough wonderful things about this little oasis at a not to be beat price! Perfect location to be close to Oxford and yet have a glorious country setting with lovely pubs, (we never looked for shops but I imagine they have those too) My friend who lives fairly nearby said she would return just for a weekend getaway with her husband it was so nice. Just an FYI, because of the stone steps up to this little paradise, know that it may not be suitable for someone who is infirm or has joint pain as there is no railing possible on the stairs. The listing probably already says this but I did think to mention it. Come stay here! You will LOVE it.

Freeland is a small village set in the Cotswolds 4 miles from Blenheim Palace and 3 miles from the nearest train station. A 6 minute train ride will take you into Oxford city, where you can visit the dreaming spires of the colleges and spend time shopping, site seeing or a day on the river Thames. Bicester village is also near and hosts designer outlet shopping centre. After a busy day, the village has a quaint village pub that offers a friendly atmosphere and traditional pub food.
A cosy 1 bed flat seperate from the main house that sleeps three. 1 double bed and a sofa bed. Soft lighting for the romantics and a gym for the energetic.

    Daniel2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a great find this was, Darren was a perfect host, the flat is just amazing, all mod cons, warm, cozy, brand new bathroom with modern fixings, really enjoyed my stay here whilst I was working at Blenheim Palace, was a lovely home to come back to every evening after a hards days work, this is a new listing on Airbnb, I've stayed at many in the UK and abroad, and this is one of the best, so don't worry if there aren't many reviews, everyone has to start somewhere, and I can honestly say that this property is highly recommended.

No 2 Shepherd Hut is a warm and comfortable traditional shepherd's hut which sleeps two in the village of Cumnor, 3.5 miles from Oxford Station. Enjoy the best of both worlds with the peace and quiet of the countryside, and the closeness of Oxford with its ancient buildings and variety of restaurants and pubs. The hut is in a paddock with another shepherd hut, with field views, close to two local pubs and a village shop. Enjoy local walks or a stroll alongside the Thames (guide book supplied).
The space is self-contained with the bed, living space and bathroom all in the Hut - no need to go outside for the loo or a shower! It has wifi. There are a couple of chairs to sit outside, and and also a barbeque for guests' use (please bring your own charcoal, or let us know if you're coming by public transport and wish to use it). As there are two shepherd huts in the paddock, some guests like to visit with friends. Inside there is a small fridge, microwave, kettle, crockery and cutlery and an electric log-effect heater which warms the hut up in minutes at the flick of a switch. A Continental-style breakfast, towels and shower gel are all included.
Cumnor is a pleasant village with a shop, many thatched cottages, and popular because of its closeness to Oxford.
  • We booked 2 nights in both huts and had a brilliant weekend at Sandra's. The huts are unique and really beautiful. Sandra and her husband built them and the story behind them is really lovely. Each hut was cosy and thoughtfully decorated. They were spotlessly clean wirh so many nice touches. The beds were very comfortable and we had everything we needed and more. The location is brilliant for easy access to Oxford, whilst being able to stay in peaceful quiet Cumnor. Sandra is a brilliant host who made our stay extra special and we will be back again withiut doubt!

    Ali2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra was a fantastic host, very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was amazing, really cosy, clean and comfortable in a very peaceful area just outside of Oxford. Super comfy bed. I just loved the whole experience of staying in a Sheppard's hut. I will definitely be back to stay again soon.

    Chloe2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a getaway - the hut is in a beautiful rural area with no light pollution (beautiful starry skies!) and it was totally quiet as well - no road noise or anything. The village is lovely with a great local pub in walking distance, and the hut itself is beautiful - big and comfy bed, good bathroom and even a fireplace/fan heater in the corner. Really cosy (it chucked it down with rain when we stayed) - would definitely recommend.

Comfortable and family oriented, this is our tranquil cottage located in a secluded rural village location. Lovely views, glorious walks from the front door, easy train links to Oxford, London, and the Cotswolds. 10 min drive to Blenheim Palace main gate.
222 sq m / 2390 sq ft Our family home is comfortable and homely. High quality beds and bedding, cosy sofas and small garden area to relax in. We are within walking distance of the village train station with direct links to Oxford, the Cotswolds and London. Blenheim Palace is a 10 minute drive away. We are a busy family with young children, a dog and a cat, so I would not describe our home as a show-home style immaculate interior, but it is clean and tidy, and freshly decorated. The house is located at the end of a no-through lane, which opens out into gorgeous walks through the Evenlode Valley, and down to the river Evenlode. At the other end of the lane there is a country pub, serving nice locally sourced products for good family meals.
  • I stayed at Victoria's lovely home with two friends for a relaxing weekend away, and it was everything we wanted. We had plenty of space to have time to ourselves and together, and we felt at home immediately. The fire was so cosy (especially with Willow the cat there!), and Victoria left us lots of great tips for walks and places to eat which all turned out to be brilliant. Communication with Victoria while we were there and beforehand was really quick and easy, and the location of the house is exceptional, with great transport links to London and Oxford and lots of places to eat close by, but also a genuinely rural-escape feel. We would definitely love to stay at Victoria's place again and would very much recommend it.

  • We had a fabulous stay at Victoria's home over Christmas. Everything was as expected from the pictures and the description. Very convenient to get the train into Oxford and for Blenheim Palace. Handy shop in the village and cosy pub 2 mins walk. Willow the cat is the softest thing ever, our 2 year old son adored her!

    Sophie2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Had the most relaxing weekend at Victoria’s cosy house, the wood burning fire, the location and Willow the cat- it was all perfect!

    Hannah2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic AirBnB — exactly as advertised. It’s a cosy, lived-in family space with a wood-burning stove and a gorgeous cat. It had everything we needed. Short walk to the pub and to the station (trains to Oxford every hour - 7 mins away). Highly recommended.

  • Really lovely family home. Cosy and welcoming. Great location too. Many thanks for everything

Rural views from two cosy, quiet double bedrooms. Sit by a lovely pond visited by birds and dragonflies, and bats at dusk. Ancient village with 12th-century church and an old village pub serving excellent food. 2 miles from station— trains take 1h14m to London, 12m to Oxford.
Osborne House, built around 1790, is situated on the edge of the Cotswolds and is the perfect base from which to explore Oxford and nearby Blenheim Palace. You have at your disposal an entirely self-contained two double bedroom apartment attached to our family home but accessible via its own separate entrance, so you can be as private as you wish. On the ground floor is a newly-fitted kitchen and a comfortable sitting area with TV. Wireless internet access is available throughout. Upstairs there are two lovely bedrooms, the first with views towards the village church, and the second looking out over neighbouring fields. Both have double beds, and a separate single mattress can also be made available if required. There is a new bathroom with a shower over the bath; towels are supplied.
Church Hanborough is among the prettiest villages of its size in Oxfordshire, set amidst gorgeous countryside, with invigorating walks through fields and woodland, and all just 20 minutes' drive from the dreaming spires of Oxford. The Hand and Shears pub is next door where lunch and evening meals are served (see their website for a menu). They also do very good takeaway fish and chips.
  • My daughter & I stayed at Christines for 5 weeks as we were moving to the UK, Christine couldn’t have been more helpful or accommodating to us, her tips and advice on the local area were invaluable. The cottage is gorgeous great location (5 mins from Woodstock & Blenheim Palace) warm comfortable beds & has everything you need for short stay or long stay like ours. I would highly recommend a stay at Christines, if I hadn’t just bought a house 5 mins away I would stay again!!

    Jill2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Christine's place was my favorite stay during our 10 day vacation to UK. She knew dinner on Christmas Eve would be hard to get and she reserved a table for us at the pub next door, Hand and Shears. We had an enjoyable evening there and I highly recommend the pub, the food was good and the staff was very friendly. Christine went above and beyond to communicate with us before we arrived. She had more suggestions for activities than we had time. The country side is beautiful. Her place is very homey, the beds are warm and comfortable (December). I will return and spend more time in Church Hanborough and at Christine's.

    Garth2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Totally loved our stay at Christine's place. The house is lovely, clean and quiet. A real gem. The garden and views are beautiful. Fantastic pub right next door. Just 10 minutes away from Blenheim palace. We'd love to book again for next year.

    Kath2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Christine’s place was absolutely perfect for an escape to the countryside. The immediate surroundings—the house and garden—are more beautiful than pictured. The bedrooms are light and bright and provided amazing views of the village and surrounding fields. There were three sheep in the field behind the house and a gorgeous, friendly little cat in the garden. The living room was comfortable and provided travel information for the surrounding areas, which we made use of. The kitchen was well stocked and there were a couple treats in the fridge. And the pub next door has excellent fish and chips. I would definitely stay again.

    Melody2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Christine's. She was full of helpful hints for our trips into Oxford and the flat was perfect for our needs.

    Alison2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic, tranquil location that’s great for children. The Hand and Shears pub is right next door and serves good food. We also took walks along public footpaths to neighbouring Freeland and Long Hanborough that both have good pubs with outside seating for lunches and dinner.

    Peter2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, lovely atmosphere, beautiful garden, and a wonderful host. Christine gave us many useful hints about the area, how to get around, and historical insights. She was wonderful, everything worked well, and the apartment was perfect for us. Great stay, and we’d love to return.

    Jesse2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • I could really feel the British mood. The garden was beautiful and the interior was small but spacious and clean. Thank you so much for explaining Oxford. It was a good memory to remember with the children.

    Luke2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing space. I felt incredibly relaxed, safe and cosy staying here. Rebecca is an excellent host and helped whenever needed. The bed and pillows are so comfortable and under floor heating just makes it that more dreamy. Outstanding value for money I believe for what you get. A private safe courtyard, own entrance, beautiful big bedroom/lounge area in a tranquil little village? Would love to return in summer. Thank you

  • Without a doubt, the most beautiful air bnb in Great Britain! The pictures on the advertisement do not do it justice. The bathroom is stunning & has heated flooring, the towels were extra fluffy, the carpet in the living area was immaculate, the interior decoration was stylish & modern, yet very country & cosy at the same time. The place is fully equipped with shampoos, shower gels, moisturisers, make up remover pads etc so if you’re the type of person who wants to go places with hand luggage only, this air bnb is for you. The host couldn’t of been more fantastic, pure British hospitality at every moment. Wish I could have stayed for longer, 100% would recommend this air bnb! Absolute perfection!

    Jes2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca was a wonderful host and was very open and welcoming and has a great knowledge of the local area. Not only is the property itself beautiful, but the location is fantastic, private, and very picturesque. Would have loved to stay longer and look forward to coming back in the future.

    Zahran2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was unfortunately only one night, but we wish we could have stayed forever! Everything about The Granary was superb. The room is vary spaces and open, as well as being self contained. The bed, carpet and under floor heating meant that our stay was extremely relaxing and comfortable. There is a small sofa to watch TV which is Netflix equipped. And there is also a small dining table with 2 chairs, obviously for eating at. There was plenty of teas to chose from as well as a section of cereals. Plenty of cutlery is also available in the draws. Outside the room there is a utility room that you are able to use, and this contains a fridge, sink and microwave. We will be back!

  • Cute little cottage! Overall very clean throughout. The bath is a good size, and a lovely place to unwind after an afternoon walking. The heating works well, and the area is very quiet. The fire is wonderful, although you'll need kindling, which you can get at the local petrol station. The host doesn't provide any.

Welcome to Causeway Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Causeway Cottage is a delightful Grade II listed property which sleeps six guests, in three well presented bedrooms, with two bathrooms. Dating back to the mid-17th century, the property has an abundance of character features including exposed wooden beams, a stone mullion window, terracotta tiling in the kitchen and two inglenook fireplaces, one of which has a wood burning stove. To complement these traditional features, the property has been finished in a contemporary style with the addition of modern facilities such as wireless internet access, a Smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen. Built from original Cotswold stone, Causeway Cottage has a beautiful exterior to match its interior, with a wonderful wisteria trailing across the porch and living room windows, and dormer windows on the first floor which offer lovely views across the garden. The enchanting garden is an excellent spot to socialise with friends and family in the warmer months and there is off-street parking for up to three cars on the gravel driveway. Causeway Cottage is situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Old Minster Lovell, an unspoilt village with a mixture of attractive thatched and Cotswold stone cottages. The village benefits from a well-regarded pub, the Old Swan, which prides itself on its use of local ingredients, and the 12th century parish church of St Kenelm is just a short walk away from the cottage. Alongside the church lie the extensive ruins of Minster Lovell Hall, a former 15th century manor house which is now a Grade 1 listed building maintained by English Heritage. Old Minster Lovell is also home to Minster Mill, a luxury hotel with a spa and restaurant which members of the public can utilise by appointment only. The larger residential settlement of New Minster is just a ten minute walk away, with another popular pub and a local shop. Located within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are many local walks and cycle trails to explore, including those along the River Windrush which flows through the village itself. Old Minster Lovell is well placed for visiting many of the charming towns and villages of the Cotswolds including the medieval market town of Burford with its wide range of eateries, and the scenic village of Bourton-on-the-Water, often referred to as the “Venice of the Cotswolds” due to the many arching bridges which cross over the River Windrush. The popular tourist destinations of Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill, Cirencester and Oxford are within easy reach for day trips. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
The front door opens into an entrance hall with hooks for hanging coats and a boot rack for muddy wellies. The following rooms are located on the ground floor: Living/dining room: This bright, dual aspect room is a warm and inviting space and has a wealth of character features including exposed wooden beams and original wooden flooring. This spacious room contains an inglenook fireplace with cosy wood burning stove, a three-seater sofa and two leather armchairs. There is also a wall-mounted Smart TV with DVD player, a small selection of books and board games, an ornamental inglenook fireplace and a wooden dining table which comfortably seats six; Snug: Adjacent to the dining area is the cosy snug, a peaceful spot offering wonderful garden views through the beautiful stone mullion window. This area contains a comfy leather armchair; Kitchen: The well presented country-style kitchen has striking exposed beams and terracotta tiles and is ideal for home cooking. It contains an electric Aga (available in the winter months only), an electric oven with four-ring induction hob, a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, cafetière, kettle and toaster. There is also a large larder and a wooden breakfast table with seating for six; Utility room/cloakroom: Contains a washing machine, tumble dryer, toilet and wash basin. A spiral staircase with a handrail leads up from the inner hall between the dining area and kitchen to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: Overlooking the garden and country pub opposite, this spacious dual aspect bedroom contains a super king size bed, chest of drawers, two bedside tables for storage and wall hooks for hanging space. There is a bright, contemporary ensuite bathroom which contains a bath with overhead rain shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail; Bedroom 2: With exposed wooden beams and views across to the village pub, this tastefully decorated bedroom contains a king size bed, chest of drawers, coat stand and hooks for storage, as well as a wall mirror and a pretty window seat and wooden chair; Bedroom 3: Overlooking the street below, this cosy bedroom contains two single beds, a chest of drawers, coat stand and small selection of books; Family bathroom: The spacious family bathroom contains a large walk-in rain shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. The stunning south facing garden spans a third of an acre and is mostly laid to lawn with a variety of mature trees along its border, giving privacy from the village playing field beyond. Directly outside the kitchen there is a paved patio area with an outdoor table with seating for six, as well as two comfy chairs looking out over the lawn. The patio is bordered by a low dry-stone wall, which itself is bordered by fragrant lavender, and in the late spring the gorgeous wisteria and climbing flowers add splashes of colour to the Cotswold stone exterior. A second patio can be found beneath the mature trees at the side of the garden and this area contains a charcoal barbecue and two sun loungers. Just off the driveway is a double garage which houses a large table tennis table and croquet set. The gravel driveway has off-street parking for up to three cars.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

Situated in a quiet location in the village of Stonesfield, Little Chestnut Cottage is a great base from which to visit Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxford and explore the Cotswolds. Stratford is less than an hour away if you want to go a little further afield. The village is just over an hour away from London yet surrounded by beautiful countryside and there are plenty of walks straight from the door across the picturesque Evenlode valley.
Little Chestnut Cottage is completely self-contained and is just across the driveway from our own cottage. It dates back to the early nineteenth century and was built as an outbuilding for animals and grain but has now been converted to provide a lovely place to stay for visitors to this area. Downstairs is a comfortable bedroom, spacious bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. Upstairs is an open plan sitting and dining area with the original wide floorboards and oak beams.
Stonesfield is located in beautiful west Oxfordshire on the edge of the Cotswolds. The village is completely surrounded by countryside and is very close to Blenheim Palace (3 miles). It has a good pub The White Horse which is open Wednesday to Sunday (www.whitehorsestonesfield.com) and a convenience store with a post office. The market towns of Woodstock, Witney and Chipping Norton are all less than 20 minutes drive away. Little Chestnut Cottage is in the oldest part of the village and a short walk to the river Evenlode. There are lovely walks in the local woods and North Leigh roman villa is about 20 minutes walk away. The Oxfordshire Way runs through the village and longer walks into the grounds of Blenheim Palace are straight forward by following this footpath.
  • We had such a lovely stay in Theresa’s cottage. It is so homely and warm whilst also having modern amenities. It benefits from a great shower, excellent heating, dishwasher, big TV, comfy bed but also has the wooden beams and traditional features throughout. Great location for visiting oxford, Blenheim and surrounding villages. We had a great meal one evening in Woodstock which is very close by. We stayed for 2 nights but could happily have stayed for more. Theresa was a great host, very friendly and had left eggs, bread, milk, freshly squeezed orange juice and even some fruit for us which was a lovely touch. We highly recommend and will definitely look to stay again on our next visit.

Meadow View is a self contained ground floor apartment to the rear of our home. ( a former C17 pub.) The apartment has its own entrance and is completely separate from the house. There is ample parking on the road outside. There is a double bedroom and kitchenette area with a separate hallway, shower room and toilet and laundry/ wardrobe room The main room is very compact light and airy and and overlooks a beautiful meadow and trees. There is a small private seating area outside.
We are a safe haven - Business as Usual. Deep cleaning after every visit, boil laundering bedding and towels. The Bell is a former pub situated on a quiet lane near a little triangular green. There is a lane opposite leading to the village where there are two pubs. One serves food. There is a bus top ten minutes walk away, with a bus route to Oxford and Witney. At there rear of the house there is direct access to a public footpath over fields to the next village, where there are two pubs. (1 mile). The adding farm has a fabulous organic garden and cafe and it is walkable within 25 mins
The village of Cassington is a delightful small Cotswold stone Oxfordshire village. It has two pubs (one with food), lovely walks over farm land, a sports field with bookable tennis and MUGA pitch, a 12th century church, and village hall with various events - films, plays, sales etc. There is a lane opposite the house which leads to the village centre (4 min walk). The bus stop on the A40 is 10 mins walk. The best of both worlds - a rural hideaway only 10 mins from Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxford, and Oxford Parkway station. You can walk to access public transport, or park your car outside the house. If you are stuck for lifts, we are happy to help if we can.
  • Wonderful space, exactly as advertised and a beautiful spot. Highly recommend.

Thank you for your interest in my home. I live in a beautiful cottage which is located down a quiet street centrally in the quaint village of Eynsham. We're close to shops, pubs, restaurants & bus stops, which head to both Oxford & Witney. Being situated on the edge of the Cotswolds, near Bicester Village & historic places like Blenheim Palace, Eynsham is the ideal place to stay for work or pleasure. Oxford Central, Oxford Parkway and Long Hanborough railway stations are also easily accessed.
My cottage has 3 bedrooms, a large bathroom with a walk in shower and separate bath. The downstairs consists of the lounge, kitchen and dining room all of which are open plan and a small courtyard garden. The guest room is a medium size double room. There are hooks for hanging clothes as well as a chest of drawers and bedside table. During your stay you will have in the room fresh bed linen, towels and beautifully soft dressing gowns to make your stay extra cosy. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are also in the room for your use. A hair dryer is available if required. Tea and coffee making facilities are readily available in the room as well as a TV. A light breakfast is included and consists of cereal, croissants and toast, tea and coffee. If you time your stay just right, fresh homemade bread and homemade jam is sometimes on the menu - a real treat but time allowing! Breakfast is served in the dining area. Guests are welcome to use the microwave and oven (sorry not the stove) to heat food which can also be eaten in the dining area (no food upstairs please). The washing machine can be used if requested for a small fee. The garden is small but enclosed and can be enjoyed by guests at leisure. I aim to make your stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. Hope to meet you soon.
My cottage is situated down a no-through road. Parking is available on the street. There is a co-op at the end of my street as well as an Indian restaurant/takeaway. There are several pubs all within a few minutes walk, 2 of which serve good food. We are situated in a beautiful area with nice walks including the river Thames which is about a 1/2 mile away. Historic Blenheim palace is nearby and Bicester village is a half hour drive or short train ride away. Being on the edge of the Cotswolds, Eynsham is the perfect place to stay for business or pleasure.

Pinsley Corner is a stylish and cosy country retreat perfectly located in the village of Long Hanborough. It's only a 5 minute walk to Hanborough Station with excellent connections to London Paddington and Oxford. The 19th century living room with open fire is the perfect place to relax after a day exploring the surrounding area. Country walks, open fields, circling red kites and fantastic pubs are all (quite literally) on the doorstep. The cottage has it's own private entrance and parking
Feeling like a home from home, there's a cosy living room with open fire, good sized bedroom with a king-sized bed, ensuite bathroom, and a simple kitchen. We're passionate about interior design and have taken inspiration from our travels and time living overseas which is reflected in the cottage's 'country meets urban' feel. The Living Room: The open red brick fire place takes centre stage. It's a historic living space dating back to 1900 providing a taste of English country life in times gone by. Guests are welcome to use the fire and we will provide a supply of logs, kindling and instructions. The living room also has a 50 inch television with netflix, cable (sky) subscription (including movies and sports channels), on demand services, prime, and bose bluetooth soundbar/speaker. There is a comfy double sofa bed which guests are welcome to use as a separate bed (additional bedding provided). There are numerous board games and books (mostly travel) and literature/maps/etc of the local area, including detailed information from our own experience living in the area. The bedroom: From several years travelling the globe we understand how a comfortable bed and good nights sleep can make the difference. There's a very comfortable King sized bed with high end mattress and bedding to provide just that. Good sized wardrobe for storage and atmospheric lighting. The bathroom: Walk in shower. No bathtub. All bathroom essentials provided. The Kitchen: Pinsley Corner has a simple but stylish kitchen with Microwave/grill, toaster, kettle, fridge/freezer, Nespresso coffee machine, induction hob and all essential cooking equipment. There is a small dining table for two. We don't like to oversell our kitchen, as it's functional but very simple/rustic. Most guests decide to eat out at the excellent local pubs etc, however if you decide to self cater, our lovely little kitchen has everything you'll need for a short stay. For breakfast we’ll provide a selection of cereals, bread/butter/spreads, tea/coffee etc and will leave these in the kitchen for you prior to your arrival. Entrance/driveway - Pinsley Corner has it's own private entrance from the driveway. The driveway is shared with the main house but you will have a designated space throughout your stay (One space only). Further parking is available on Park Lane down the side of the house but is first come first served. Outdoor space - There is a small courtyard just big enough to move the dining table for outdoor dining in the summer. There are also country fields only a stones throw from the house for summer picnics.
Despite being well connected and just a stones throw from the city of Oxford, Long Hanborough captures the essence of rural England and has the essential local facilities for a comfortable stay. We are a 30 second walk (50 metres or so) from an excellent country pub, the George and Dragon, which has a hearty and cosmopolitan menu. In Long Hanborough itself there is a highly rated fish and chip shop (which we can personally recommend!), a cafe and a convenience store. There is also local playground, cricket field and pavilion. Pinsley Woods and Church Hanborough are short walks and make for lovely country strolls. Along the side of the house runs a country lane that leads to open fields and the Evenlode river.
  • This place is well worth a visit lovely area wonderful cottage with everything you could wish for I would give it a 5 star review

    Sharon2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very good, snug accommodation with lovely open fire and comfortable bed with good access to Oxford and the Cotswolds. Helpful hosts with fast response to any queries.

  • My friend and I had such a wonderful night at Pinsley Corner! Rich and Sarah were superb hosts. They were really responsive, both before and during our stay, and left so many little touches including biscuits and an amazing breakfast spread! And their log fire just made the evening. It’s a 5-10 minute walk from Hanborough station and you’re then in Oxford within 10 minutes. Great location. As it was a short stay, we couldn’t explore the village around us but that just means we’ll have to come back! Definitely recommend! Thanks so much. Emma and Anna x

  • We had a wonderful stay here. The cottage is well furnished and decorated and it’s clear that a lot of thought has been put into making it a perfect retreat. We enjoyed the open fire and board games especially. We also loved the breakfast provided - especially the fresh bread which was a real treat. The location is perfect - very close to Oxford and a 10 min walk to the train station which links to London and Oxford. Rich and Sarah were wonderful hosts and kept in good contact and were genuinely friendly and hospitable. Would 100% recommend!

Formerly the manor house gymnasium, The Studio now provides comfortable accommodation for two people. It consists of an open plan sitting room/bedroom, separate kitchen and shower room. The accommodation is situated in the grounds of a riverside manor farm bordering the River Thames and is close to Oxford (on a direct bus route), Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds.
Swinford Manor Farm lies in the hamlet of Swinford on the banks of the River Thames adjacent to the ancient monument of Swinford toll bridge. Lovely walks along the Thames Path to Oxford and through Wytham Woods opposite. Within walking distance you will find a pub and a little further the village of Eynsham.

  • What an absolutely amazing space, it had everything we needed and would be a perfect getaway for any couple. Tracy was a great host and gave us lots of tips and also supplied us with eggs, milk, butter, jam for breakfast. The whole space is very peaceful and the fact the town of Woodstock is only about a 30min walk makes it the ideal destination for a country break. We came to Oxford for a wedding but would love to come back just to stay at Tracy's airbnb!

    Ross2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Tracy's Airbnb really has the wow factor. It is incredibly spacious, comfortable and has quality fixtures & fixings. I loved soaking in the gorgeous bathtub each evening. The garden seating areas, front and back, were lovely places to enjoy a meal or a drink. Breakfast supplies of organic granola, bread, eggs, butter, jam and milk provided a great start to the day. Location is fantastic, you feel like you're right out in the sticks but in fact it is only 10 minutes to Woodstock and Blenheim and about 30 minutes to Oxford. We had a fabulous stay.

    Angela2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Tracy’s annexe! Such a lovely large space with every you need, set in beautiful surroundings. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to stay nearby to Oxford!

    Sally2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful accommodation beautifully renovated and decorated. Only 5 mins from Woodstock and Blenheim Palace. The accommodation is a lot bigger than it looks in the photos, something rare nowadays as it’s normally the other way around. If your thinking of booking, do it. You won’t regret it.

The check in process is straightforward, and Andrei is a warm hearted host. Nice place to stay if you travel to Oxford. Andrei is a very good host. His house is also very large. He lives in a comfortable and clean place. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials for cooking, such as oil and salt. The check-in procedure is very simple and the price is fair

  • Overall, great stay. The place was very clean and there is a large shared space including a kitchen if needed. I was visiting family, so I spent little time in the actual Airbnb but the apartment was perfect for my stay and the lockbox check-in/out is very convenient. One night coming back, the front door lock was jammed or closed improperly (I’m not sure), but the key would not open the door. Luckily, another guest staying in the upstairs part of the house was able to let me inside. Other than this one-time hiccup, there were no issues and I had a great stay.
