  • Beautiful apartment that was clean and well equipped - we had the best time here and I'd highly recommend it!

  • This cosy annex is well equipped and includes an outside sitting area. Everything is provided including special extras such as double-yolked eggs and Dave's home made bread rolls! Ideally placed for Weymouth seafront and walking the coastal footpath. What a find!

  • Excellent - in many respects - including, location, local information, warm welcome, well-equipped kitchen, clean, warm and comfortable. Would fully recommend.

  • Excellent service. The log burner made the trip!

  • Really close to town centre. Good facilities. Well equipped kitchen and comfy bed.

    Keith2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant place to stay, with lots of little touches. Really cosy.

    Tracy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Other reviewers have said it all! A really VERY good place and excellent value for money. From Pamela’s warm welcome to the many extra thoughtful touches and freebies (eggs and bread, milk, maps, mars bars, fruit, wine punch etc etc). Although we didn’t avail ourselves, there is even decent wine provided at cost price. The room is spacious and stylishly decorated, the shower room and kitchenette modern and well equipped. The futon bed is, well, a futon bed which therefore is pretty firm which will suit most but not all. Highly recommended.

Newly refurbished home with HOT TUB lovely outdoor space, all rooms comfortable with new memory foam mattresses. Large modern kitchen/diner/conservatory, American fridge & range, 10 minute walk to beach & Quay There is a 3 day minimum but during late July / August there is a 5 day minimum unless it’s a late booking (inquire from June)
So close to the beach & quay, fabulous local places to shop & eat, lovely newly refurbished house, that's well maintained has now finished being updated to a very high standard. The house comfortably sleeps 12 adults (2 sofa beds downstairs) travel cot and spare pull out bed also available
The house is on an unusual street with random shops that sell anything from retro gear to cycles, it has a fabulous local pub with great food & atmosphere, there are all sorts of take aways and a great Indian restaurant within a few minutes walk, the town & beach & quay are only a 10 minute stroll from the house.
  • Joannes place was a perfect home for a group of friends spending time together. The kitchen/dining area was a great space to hang out. The beds were comfy, the house was clean and provided everything we needed. The disco hot tub was the icing on tha cake! I would highly recommend this property, it's also in a really convienient location to be able the access shops, restaurants and the beach.

    Claire2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home and in the perfect location. Joanne was very helpful and friendly.

    Jennifer2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • There was 12 of staying in Joanne's place and there was ample room for all of us. The pictures do not do the house justice. He was bigger than expected with plenty of seating areas for the whole group. The hot tub was an added bonus. The closest town & beach was only a 10 minute walk away with plenty to do to keep us all busy. We were all pleasantly surprised x

    Linzi2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • House is incredible. 9 adults (aged between 23-30) spent 4 days/3 nights here comfortably. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side so we didn't get to spend much time in the garden except for using the amazing hot tub!! Showers are spacious, the bath upstairs is incredible! Beds are comfortable and there's lots of little extras. We all absolutely loved our time there and are already planning our next trip back, hopefully for slightly longer this time. There is a shop directly opposite the house, lots of takeaways on the road and you're a close walk to town or the beach. We were all really impressed by the house, especially the kitchen! Host was fab with great communication, and I loved it. Best birthday ever!

    Kayleigh2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Joanne was the perfect host. House was beautiful and we all had a great time. 10 adults and 2 babies stayed comfortably.

    Kayleigh2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house and spacious for a family get together

    Rachael2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, spacious and bright home with the bonus touch of the hot tub which our children loved. There were 10 of us and we found that we all had our own space when we needed it and there was always a loo free. Did feel the walk to the town and beach took 15 mins but we enjoyed it plus my mum who is in her 70's took a taxi which only cost £4 and the drivers were always very friendly. The bath with the t.v was pure luxury and we had all mod cons in the kitchen meaning we didn't have to come home with tons of dirty washing. We would go back again and all felt that we should have booked longer.

    Rebecca2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Joanne was an excellent host who welcomed us gladly into her beautiful home. A wonderful house with all local amenities close by and the added benefit of a very well loved hot tub. Our children loved the house and we celebrated a 40th birthday comfortably in the beautiful and spacious kitchen. A great trip and we’d happily book and stay again. Thanks so much Joanne for your swift communication, friendliness and allowing us into your home

Come and join us in one of the most beautiful villages on the Jurassic Coast - and possibly in England! The village has two pubs within easy walking distance, both offering food and open fires. ABBOTSBURY offers a great village shop, galleries, tea rooms a play park and famous attractions including; the Swannery, Tropical Gardens and Tithe Barn - ideal for our younger visitors. Abbotsbury and the surrounding area has something for everyone, walking, fossil hunting, cycling, water sports, great beaches, historic sites, great sun sets and fantastic places to chill . We are on the South West Coastal Path (SWCP) for those who are taking on that challenge. The County town of Dorchester, market town of Bridport and beach resort of Weymouth are all within easy reach.
  • Very warm welcome. Nice little village in the typical house, shame we stayed 1 night.

    Valérie2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house in lovely village. Jackie was very helpful and accommodating and we had a very relaxing overnight stay - taking refuge from the one night of wet weather after 4 glorious days walking the Jurassic Coast path. Lovely friendly well behaved dogs added to the welcome! Great breakfast and lovely strong coffee

    Catharine2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie's house is beautiful and located in a wonderful little village close to Weymouth and the Jurassic coast! We had a great welcome and we look forward to plan an other road trip and stay once more in Jackie's place!

  • Great rooms within easy reach of the coast path. Beautiful views and excellent facilities.

    Alex2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is lovely, immaculately clean, but everything feels easy going. The setting was ideal for us to visit lots of different places in the area. It could not have been more perfect.

    Claire2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely property with great views. Fab place to stay for 5 nights with our dog. Lots of lovely walks and cycles if you like hills! Jackie and her husband are great hosts. Would definitely recommend.

    Ruth2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Abbotsburry is beautiful and very well located. The same goes for Jackie's house with the wonderful garden. Usually we book the whole accommodation through Airbnb, so we are self catering. I was skeptical how that would work out. It was great. Jackie spoiled us all around. She and her husband were very open and very helpful; We all felt very well. Highly Recommended.

Middle Cottage has three bedrooms with a lounge on the ground floor with a breakfast bar. Shower room on the ground floor with another wc upstairs. Basic accommodation generally used for school groups for field trips. No school groups will be at New Barn during your stay. No Kitchen. Set in the middle of 20 acres of our wildflower meadows and woodland, on top of a hill overlooking stunning dorset landscape, yet only 5 mins to Dorchester.
Extremely quite and mellow, with lots of footpaths for country walks, yet the busy seaside town of Weymouth is only 30 mins away or for more serious shopping Bournemouth is around an hour away and Southampton just beyond that.
  • Fantastic place! The animals are amazing - check out the iron age hut. So cool. Highly recommended and great value.

    Joanna2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant stay! Matt was a great host, very responsive and welcoming. Exactly as it was advertised and ideal for our stay.

    Matt2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Easy to talk to. Very welcomong. Does what it says on the tin!

    Taimoor2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation and Matt are brilliant, I definitely recommend it for travellers looking for a spot off the road

    Arnaud2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect stopover if you are walking the Frome Valley Way. The Field Centre is a really interesting place - we took a peek around the Iron Age village in the morning before we left. The accommodation is advertised as without kitchen but it does have one with fridge, kettle, sink, toaster and microwave (no hob) - great for rustling up a quick brekky. The local pub is a gem.

    Jon2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little place in a gorgeous location. Mathew was amazing at welcoming us and letting us visit the farm as well as feed the animals. This was perfect as a stop on the way back from Cornwall but we d definitely recommend over the summer for a longer stay. Great pub close by!

    Celine2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay for a large family and ideally located for exploring the Jurassic coast.

    Alan2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Matthew's place whilst attending a wedding and it was perfect! The setting was beautiful, the accommodation itself was basic but exactly as described and extremely good value. We really enjoyed meeting the piglets, sheep, goats, and llamas. Matthew gave us a brilliant local recommendation for a pub. We had a great time.

  • What a beautiful place! I only stayed here for one night and I loved every second. I arrived to a very warm welcome with tea and biscuits. The shower is lovely and hot and the bed huge. Portesham is a picturesque village with a lovely pub and village shop. I was recommended a walk from the cottage which I did and the scenery was amazing. I would definitely recommend staying here. The dog lived it too.

  • Thank you Susie and Hywel for a great stay! We had a lovely time in this beautiful part of the world. Communication was good throughout. We ate at The Kings Arms on the first night and had an excellent meal, also nice to sit by the fire place (5 min walk), we also enjoyed breakfast at the farm shop (very short walk) and Susie made us breakfast one morning which was fantastic. We did a good bit of walking along the coast path. Thanks again, would come back again for sure. Christina and Adam

Either a spacious double bed room or one with twin singles. Max 2 people in a very old farmhouse. Private bathroom, bath & hand shower. Barn for bikes etc. Free parking on the drive. Central in Abbotsbury, a small, pretty village near Jurassic Coastal Path, Chesil Beach, Ridgeway Walk. Simple breakfast: cereals, toast, a boiled egg and tea or coffee. The main road may be busy at night with local farm traffic. NB we charge by the room - see 'Lovely Old House' for 2 bedroom option max 4 people.
You have a choice of a room with a double bed or a different room with 2 singles ( If you want two separate rooms for up to 4 people see /www.airbnb.co.uk/2404112/details) in our old farmhouse, which is in the centre of Abbotsbury Village, on the Jurassic Coast of Dorset and access to the Chesil Beach and the Ridgeway Walk just above the village. We provide bed and breakfast, we do not offer self-catering or cooking facilities but guests are welcome to boil a kettle for tea or coffee at any time in our cosy kitchen. There is no TV or kettle in the bedrooms. Parking is off the road on our driveway behind the house. This is an ideal place to get away from the hurly burly of city life. Great for walkers, cyclists, golfers or sailors or people who just want to relax and explore the beautiful country and seaside. Abbotsbury has many more hours of sunshine than the UK average because we have a micro-climate, thus there is the local award winning Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens. Nearby are Weymouth and Portland with the Sailing Academy in one direction or West Bay, venue for 'Broadchurch' and the nearby lovely golf course, and Lyme Regis in the other (see useful website gps-routes), or visitors to the many beautiful gardens in the area, including the Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens. There is also the Swannery here where the cygnets are due to hatch during early May. This is a charming and vibrant village to relax in, with quaint houses, country walks and is on the famous Jurassic Coast Path as well as the Ridgeway path. There are beautiful walks to St Catherine's Chapel, the Fleet and the coast. Our part of the Chesil beach is used extensively by fishermen, but is unsuitable for swimming, and from there you can walk along the shore for miles. On the way you might find a fossil! If you are interested in surfing or sailing the well known Sailing Academy is about a twenty minute drive away, and we can store your equipment in our barn overnight. Abbotsbury is unusual because although small, (only about a hundred cottages) it has a number of thriving businesses: a fabulous farm shop selling local meat, cheeses, butter & eggs, two shops; two pubs; teashops serving delicious Dorset cream teas or apple cake; an art gallery, Dansel, well known for a large range of local craftsmen's products in wood; a post office; and a bus, X53, service running between Exeter and Poole, via Lyme Regis, Bridport - a pleasant market town, West Bay and Weymouth, a 200 years old seaside resort. Suppers or lunches at the Ilchester Arms pub or the Swan Inn, both a few doors away, or a short drive to the Manor House at West Bexington, and village pubs at Punkenowle, Langton Herring or Burton Bradstock. The nearest towns are: Dorchester, Bridport, Weymouth, West Bay, each about eleven miles away. Slightly further along the coast are Charmouth and Lyme Regis, Durdle Door, Lulworth, Wool, Wareham. Further inland are well known places such as Cerne Abbas, Mapperton, Forde Abbey, Beaminster. Thomas Hardy has long association with this county, as he lived and wrote here, and set his novels and poems around rural life in the lovely farming countryside and small market towns. Sorry, we can't accommodate children under seven years old as there is a small stream in the garden and an ungated driveway, besides which our house is not well adapted for toddlers. Also sorry we don't accept pets. There is ample parking on our driveway behind the house.
The highlights: The beauty of the countryside made world famous by Thomas Hardy; the dramatic coastal views and walks; the mild sub-tropical weather; the ancient sites in the landscape from bronze age, the Roman invasion right the way through to WW2; our lovely farm shop which supplies very locally sourced food; fresh fish caught locally off Portland Bill, and available in many nearby restaurants; a post office and village shop open every day including Sundays and Christmas Day; two pubs. A lively church, remainder from the old Abbey site, where many weddings take place, and one can hear the bell ringers practice at least once a week. A nearby popular wedding/party barn.
  • Barbara and her husband are a lovely couple with a gorgeous house. We had a short stay (one night) when we visited the Jurassic Coast for a fossil hunting trip. The house was lovely and our room/bath room were nice and clean. The breakfast in the morning was good and we had nice chats! Barbara gave us helpful tips were to go and what to see (the little chapel on the hill in Abbotsbury is worth a visit and you gave a great view). Thank you and I definitely recommend Barbara's Airbnb!

  • Splendid b&b with very hospitable couple!

    Floris2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately, stormy weather prevented me from getting to Abbotsbury to actually stay with Barbara's place, so I can't review the actual place (though I feel pretty certain it is lovely). What I can do though, is review how lovely it was to deal with Barbara. She's very flexible, reasonable and kind!

  • Barbara and Peter are excellent hosts and we look forward to a return visit sometime soon. Their house is charming and the location is perfect for visiting this lovely part of Dorset.

  • Barbara's home is charming and so is she. We had a lovely room and the bathroom was sparking clean with thoughtful items for our use if we needed them. Breakfast suited us very well with home made jam and fresh fruit.

Samphire Cottage is in a quiet lane in the picturesque village of Portesham, which is two miles from the world famous Chesil Beach on the Jurassic Coast. It is a two minute walk from the village pub and farm shop and cafe. The cottage has a beautiful secluded back garden with views over to the hills. The cottage has recently been refurbished to a very high standard with underfloor heating in the bathroom and electric radiators in all other rooms. Samphire Cottage is also only seven miles from the seaside town of Weymouth and eight miles from the County town of Dorchester and the market town of Bridport is ten miles away. The Abbotsbury Swannery and Sub-tropical gardens are only two miles away. Samphire Cottage is an ideal base to explore the beautiful county of West Dorset.
  • We had a lovely time at this cosy cottage. It's small but perfectly formed, very comfortable for a small family to stay in for a long weekend and full of light even in the relative grey of a British February. The house is in a beautiful and peaceful village. Really felt like we were getting away from it all. Would definitely be happy to stay again.

  • Lovely cosy cottage and a warm welcome. The location is great too, with easy access to Weymouth and the Jurassic coast.

    Liz2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely lovely place, both cosy and stylish, and has everything you could need. Being close to a nice pub and a farm stock shopped with good food completes the experience of staying in this pretty village. There are lots of interesting places to visit nearby (even in the rain), and in fine weather probably some good hikes from the door. We definitely recommend staying at Samphire Cottage!

  • A cosy, comfortable cottage in an ideal location. Trevor and Julie were very welcoming and ensured our stay was perfect. If you want a break from cooking the local pub is a two minute walk with a good varied menu and great service.

Hampton Cottage is a charming 17th century detached cottage, half thatched,(originally two dwellings), with a beautiful secluded garden backing onto open downland. Artists studio for guests use. It is on the edge of the peaceful village of Portesham , 2 miles from Chesil Beach on the Jurassic coast. Well appointed inside for a very comfortable stay, and 3min walk for great food at the village pub or the Ducks Cafe. Walk up the hill from the village and see along the Dorset coast to Devon.
The cottage is beautifully appointed with underfloor heating, wood stove, beamed ceilings downstairs and spacious well equipped kitchen/dining room. Great for foodies. Good size and very comfortable sitting room. Very large, light master bedroom with ensuite lav and wash basin. The other two bedrooms are also very comfy and pretty. The whole cottage has a wonderful feeling of space and light, and the garden a lovely view of the downs. There is a Dancook Barbecue to use on the upper lawn and garden dining area. Good for families, walkers, artists, fishing from Chesil beach, bird watching.
There is a doctors surgery in the village, also shop and cafe and pub.
  • This beautiful, stylish, roomy cottage is a great base for exploring the area. The garden is beautiful, the house has absolutely everything you could need or want including games and jigsaws (Don't try the cat one unless you wish it to take over every free second!). We spent a week there with our two adult children and their partners and everyone loved it. Catherine is a very friendly host and you get the impression she really cares about her guests.

  • This is an idyllic cottage to stay in to explore Dorset. The cottage had everything we needed with a wonderful garden. I would love to stay again

  • Cathrine’s cottage was wonderful. We spend a week there and had a great time. It is situated right next to some walking trails and there is a very nice pub with good food. There was also a duck pond close by. The house was perfect for our group of 6. we very much enjoyed the garden as well.

  • Lovely cottage, very well equipped in a wonderful area. Catherine is quick to answer any questions. We had a lovely holiday and would love to return.

  • Fabulous holiday home. This house has everything you will need, it is clean, comfortable, very well equipped and in a great location. Sitting in the garden surrounded by fields, peace and quiet, glass of Prosecco and we were lucky to have some lovely weather, bliss !! Would definitely recommend this property and will most certainly be back ourselves.

  • Catherine has a beautiful place. The photos don’t do justice. Her house is centrally located, with short access to the lovely villages, local attractions and beaches. She also has a great recommendation list, and is very thoughtful in her suggestions. When we told her that we would be travelling with a toddler, she was prompt in arranging a bed & high chair, and also added safety features to the staircase. She is also very prompt in her responses, and always looking to make your stay comfortable. A super host with a beautiful house.

  • A perfect location for exploring the Jurassic coast, Weymouth and surrounding countryside with all it's attractions. Three generations of our family stayed to celebrate a significant birthday and all took something special from it. The house has a lovely homely feel with plenty of space and lots of personal touches plus the garden is a perfect place to enjoy an evening drink and BBQ. You do need a car to get around but the village has an excellent shop, pub and local walks should you want to stay in the area. Well recommended.

    Matt2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Catherine for a wonderful stay. The cottage was outstanding and the area is absolutely stunning. The beds were comfortable and the whole place was spacious and perfect. We hope to return again one day. Thank you again..

It is a popular area for walkers with access straight from the front door to footpaths to the coastal paths and beyond. • Lovely place with lovely touches. Everything you needed and very clean. Not too far to local beaches and towns.

  • We had a great mini-break here. The bed was super comfortable and felt like home straight away. The additional touches like firewood, welcome cakes and milk in the fridge were really nice surprises. It is a super cosy and peaceful place to stay with everything you could want already there. We had a great time and the location was perfect.

  • It was a treat to stay at Kelly's place this weekend: I can recommend the location (close to lots of places to visit), and the accommodation itself is both snug and super clean. Kelly's communication was clear and prompt, and she even left a couple of birthday brownies for us to enjoy on arrival. A great place for a weekend stay.

    Charlotte2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed two days at Kelly' s place in January and found it perfect for our needs.... very clean & private with everything we needed and in a great location for sightseeing and walks and added bonus of the logburner although there is central heating as well. We would definitely stay again if in the area.

  • Beautiful setting, very well planned apartment with all amenities. Close to beautiful walks and very good gastropubs. We very much enjoyed our stay at Kelly's house.

    Matthias2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment works really well for a couple, with a comfortable and well appointed open-plan ground floor living space and a roomy bedroom and bathroom mezzanine. Access arrangements are easy and very secure. The place was spotless and Kelly clearly takes an interest in the well-being of her guests.

  • We love AirBnB. the locations, the people running it, and the great value for money. But we are sad we have to leave our dog, Sam, behind. not any more. Mark and Julie are not only OK with you bringing your dog(s), they love it. They made us and Sam so welcome (even a little treat bowl in the bedroom, nice touch Mark) You get loads of space to relax, a well-stocked kitchen, and time for a natter. Mark and Julie, you are lovely hosts, we will be back!

  • I stayed at Julie and Mark's cottage the night before my short fossil hunting trip to Burton Bradstock's beach, and I couldn't have been treated better. Julie and Mark are wonderful hosts, they made me feel like at home, visiting some friends, although it was my first time to meet them. Place was sparkling clean, with much more than I needed for my short one night stay. It was nice to relax after my long drive there, having a glass of wine and a nice chat with this lovely couple, before to sleep. Room was great and comfy and the following morning the include breakfast was all I needed before to head to the beach. Thank you so much, surely I'll stay at yours whenever I decide to come again. And, btw I found some interesting fossils in the end :-) Paolo

This charming property sits right in the heart of Prince Charles's Poundbury estate. It is a two story property less than 100 yards from Queen Mother Square with Waitrose, a Wine merchant, Butcher, Garden Centre, Cafe's and "The Duchess of Cornwall Pub/Restaurant" all in walking distance. The Poundbury is an exiting new estate with many more individual shops to boost, but if you like to walk to the great field and beyond thats perfect too.
Wonderful self contained home with a garden and small terrace for the warmer days.
There is probably no need to go on about the Poundbury estate, as it has been featured many times now on the national News etc.
  • Modern yet homey townhouse, immaculately clean. Parking very straightforward. Neighbourhood felt very safe with some great brunch spots. Also a waitrose round the corner. All in all was perfect!

  • Friendly hosts, wonderful location and a warm, clean and well-equipped home. Despite being battered by storm Ciara and storm Dennis, we had a fantastic short break exploring the local area.

    Angela2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, clean modern house a few minutes walk from the centre of Poundbury. The house was well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. Dee and Baz were really welcoming and we’re very flexible about our check out time the next day. They also responded quickly to all our messages, especially when we’d left something behind after checking out. Unfortunately we were only staying one night but would definitely stay again as the house was well placed for exploring the local area.

  • Great location and very clean place

    Hussein2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This house is absolutely beautiful. Perfect for a very comfortable few days in Poundbury. Great location and has everything you need, including great coffee to get you going in the morning!! Wish I could have stayed longer to make the most of it. Will certainly be back next time I’m visiting my family. Thank you Dee & Baz!

  • Amazing place to stay, just perfect

    Louise2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best stays I've had while traveling the last 3+ years using Airbnb. The hosts were outstanding and the place exceeded my expectations. Perfect location, beautiful inside, immaculate, great communications and many nice amenities. If you need a place to stay in Poundbury or in the Dorchester area, you should book this place. Also, a very short walk to Waitrose.

Luxurious Dorset village suite for two. Quality conversion of a listed stone barn into a completely equipped ground floor self-catering suite in the Dorset AONB. A couple of miles south west of Dorchester Washing Pool Barns are in the heart of Martinstown village, just a one minute walk from the local pub and maybe five minutes walk to the village store and post office. Bridleways, cycle routes and public footpaths are on the doorstep with the Jurassic coastline around five miles further south.
Washing Pool House is a listed Elizabethan farmhouse with adjacent barns. As is typical in this part of Dorset the dairy farmer sold off the original village farmhouse and buildings some time ago and built himself more modern barns and a home outside the village. The old farmhouse and barns have just undergone a complete renovation with premium quality fittings; the farmhouse is our home and the stone barn now houses two completely self contained holiday suites, the Cowshed and the Hayloft. The Cowshed is a ground floor suite with french doors on to the garden. It has a cooking/dining/lounge area fully equipped with double oven, hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer and pod coffee maker. The living area has a fireplace with wood burning stove and two over-size leather snuggler chairs. The bedroom area has a super king size, handmade Vispring bed with Egyptian cotton linen and down duvet. From the bedroom there is a bathroom with tub and large walk-in shower. The bed can be split into twins and a synthetic duvet supplied on request.
We are located in the most beautiful area of Dorset; Maiden Castle and Hardys Monument with its superb views of Chesil Beach and out to sea are just some of the walks from the front door. The village of Martinstown, or more formally Winterbourne St Martinstown, was the birthplace of Nelson’s Admiral Hardy and his towering hilltop monument, just outside the village, offers panoramic views of Chesil Beach, the Isle of Portland, across the Dorset AONB and on a clear day as far as Start Point, Devon. To the east of the village lies the English Heritage site of Maiden Castle, one of the largest and most complex Iron Age hillforts in Europe, a foot path leads from the gate to the castle. The National Cycle Network Route 2 runs through the village. Martinstown is on the outskirts of Dorchester, the county town and a market town. Dorchester is the Roman heart of Dorset boasts a rich heritage and is scattered with visible remnants of its ancient origins, from an impressive Roman villa to a Neolithic henge. Flanked by water meadows and riverside walks to the north Dorchester’s pretty shopping streets still follow the original Roman layout. Dorchester was home to the celebrated author, Thomas Hardy, whose novels Tess of the d’Urbervilles and The Mayor of Casterbridge were both based on the town. The Thomas Hardy trail takes you through Hardy’s Wessex visiting many of the villages and town that were the inspiration to his novels. Going south from the village you quickly reach the Jurassic Coast, World Heritage Site, a hugely diverse and beautiful landscape underpinned by incredible geology of global importance. Some 4 miles south of the village is the huge sweeping form of Chesil Beach stretching for 17 miles along the Jurassic Coast. Within a very few miles the neighbourhood offers plenty more to see and do, including Prince Charles’ Poundbury model town, Hardy's Cottage, Dorchester Museums, Athelhampton, South Dorset Ridgeway, Abbotsbury Swannery and Tropical Gardens, the seaside resort of Weymouth and Portland. and more. Also, within easy reach are Lulworth Cove & Durdle Door, West Bay and Lyme Regis.
  • We had a wonderful long weekend at the washpool barn. Karen has created a fantastic stylish barn conversion and has added wonderful small touches like fresh local bread, butter and eggs. There is a beautiful log fire with firewood supplied and all the applicable are modern and top of the range. Directions and accurate and the location was easy to find. Communication was helpful and responses were rapid. There is a great local pub at the end of the track and it is a beautiful part of the country to explore. We would highly recommend staying here

    Paul2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay, such a beautiful space and very clean. Would stay here again.

    Sam2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at The Cow Shed. The property is finished to a high standard and had the wow factor when you arrive. There was a comprehensive welcome pack with lots of extra treats which were very appreciated. The king size bed was very comfortable with lovely bed linen. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of crockery, glasses, cooking pans and cutlery. The location is very peaceful and picturesque with access to beautiful countryside and the dramatic Jurassic coastline.

    Jan2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place to stay. The flat is extremely comfortable and beautifully appointed, with very high-end fixtures - a real pleasure to spend time here. Our hosts were very responsive to our needs, yet not at all intrusive - exactly the right balance. This is a beautiful part of the world, with unspoilt villages, historic towns and idyllic beaches. There’s also a friendly pub literally on your doorstep, serving an excellent Sunday lunch. Highly recommended

    Edward2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely stay at the barn. It was very peaceful and cosy, especially with the fire lit. The kitchen has all the equipment you could need and there is a very useful booklet with local information. Karen also sent us a list of restaurant recommendations in advance. Just in case you don’t spot in the listing, there is no television but there is WiFi so you can stream. We went to Langham Wine Estate for a tour and lunch which was delicious. We also went to a couple of cosy spots in Dorchester - Convivial Rabbit for drinks and board games and Basilico for authentic, wholesome Italian food.

    Marsha2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely base for for exploring the Dorset coast with Dorchester just 10 minutes down the road. The Cowshed is cosy, stylish and has everything you need. The Super King bed was so comfortable and the extra touches - like the breakfast hamper - were a lovely thought. We would definitely come here again!

    Rachael2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely stay at the Cowshed! The cottage is finished to a high standard and is perfect for a cosy weekend away in front on the fire. Fab!

    Kate2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous place to stay with everything we needed. The folder containing information on local restaurants etc was really handy too. Perfect for our brief stay. Wish we had longer there. Thank you Karen!

The Cabin is situated on the edge of our garden facing down the valley, it's open plan with a sleeping nook which has a very comfortable double bed, the kitchen has a fridge/freezer and a 2 ring gas hob and the bathroom has toilet/sink and a shower.
The cabin is an ideal place to relax and a great base for cyclists , walkers, horse riders or explorers, our dog Jake will rush out to greet you first, barking his head off and my husband will rush out after him telling him to shut up but your welcome will be warm and we will do all we can to make your stay a good one. Price includes a welcome breakfast basket of local produce and everything you will need to get you started is provided ie: tea/coffee milk washing up liquid, hot chocolate and most often freshly layed eggs , a bottle of wine or some cold beers so all you have to do is arrive and relax whatever the weather. There are some dvds too for a cosy night in. The double bed is extremely comfortable with duck down duvet and french linen curtains around it making it a cosy nook. The bathroom has a powerful shower and the kitchen area has a fridge/freezer and a two ring gas hob and is perfect for light cooking and preparing lunches etc however you may struggle to make a roast dinner, a microwave or a mini oven can be provided for guests that are staying for more than two nights but we find that most people want to go to the pub for dinner, there is also a bbq/fire pit so you can sit outside and stargaze.
We are surrounded by countryside with just our road that runs directly through the middle of the farm splitting into two sides, my husbands brother runs several hundred sheep on one side and we have a small flock on our side . The road can be dead quiet or busy and I wouldn’t recommend walking on it. There are fabulous walks in either direction , up to Hardys monument is one mile up through the farm on the other side of the road, just go straight up the track to the last gate and straight up the path through the forestry and you can see for miles up there including the sea . From there you could walk to the pub (the kings arms) in Portesham or further on to Abbotsbury which is a gorgeous village with 2 pubs. You will need a car to go to any shops.
  • Had a warm welcome and the cabin is exactly as described. Clean comfortable and plenty of dog walking. We would happily stay again.

  • Returned for a second visit so that says it all! Wonderful hospitality from the hosts Debbie and Steve. A cabin that’s warm and comfortable and well equipped with many thoughtful extras.

  • What a wonderful cabin! It’s peaceful, warm, very well equipped with lots of thoughtful extras. It has lovely views and a super comfortable bed. Debra and Steve are so friendly and welcoming and the hamper that’s left for you on your arrival was the best I’ve ever seen. I thoroughly recommend staying here

    Judith2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Debra and Steve are incredible hosts! This cottage has such a wonderful view of the countryside, and feels incredibly cozy! This was a perfect getaway for a relaxing weekend, fantastically situated in between small towns, allowing you to take easy day adventures and come back to peace and quiet. The Airbnb itself is thoughtfully decorated with incredible amenities and the most comfortable bed in the world. It was a wonderful time exploring the area and meeting their lovely sheep, horses, and dogs. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer!

    Jerrie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely decorated cabin situated very conveniently for the south coast and West Dorset. On a working farm with hens in the front garden pecking around . It is very well stocked with all the condiments to sort out meals plus a bountiful welcome pack.

    Helen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy place , fantastic hosts who run an excellent Airbnb

    Gareth2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying in the cabin & removing ourselves from the world a bit after a hectic Christmas & New Year! The space is cosy, comfy, super clean, and fantastically well-stocked, and the welcome hamper was fab (the eggs were so tasty!). Debra was a great host, super quick and communicative. We really loved all the lovely little touches, and would love to come back again for a longer stay in slightly warmer weather!

    Jack2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • A hidden gem. Lovely seculded getaway in a perfect location for day trips along the coast. The cabin is gorgeous, the pictures don't do it justice, it's got everything you need and its a perfect space for a relaxing retreat. Debra was a great host too and will help with anything you need - thank you for your quick responses, good recommendations and for providing yummy breakfast bits. The cabin was easy to find and the WiFi was good enough to stream Netflix etc. Would totally recommend.

Then of course there is the world famous Jurassic Coast - whether it be wave watching on Portland or fossil hunting at Charmouth you will be spoilt for choice as to where to go first !
  • A fantastic, stylish barn in a great location & brilliant for dogs too. Loved it & would definitely recommend & return. Thanks for a great stay 👍

  • I stayed here for a long weekend with my husband, mother in law and dog. The cottage it’s self was extremely clean and full of all the amenities we needed. Location wise it was off the beaten track (which we knew and wanted!) but was only a short drive to Weymouth or Dorchester which was perfect. We spent most of the day out and about and there was nothing better than getting back and spending the evening chilling in front of the log burner with a glass of wine! We would definitely stay here again

    Sasha2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for an absolutely lovely stay. My wife and two under 4s, plus the 3 dogs loved Little Barn and we will return. The underfloor heating was wonderful to keep us snug after cold and rainy days out. The facilities were classy and unfussy. Perfect for a family break. You’re nicely isolated, but close enough to whatever you might need from Dorset. It’s a great base for exploring the coast, and wonderful to return to the evenings.

    Sam2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a perfect stay at the Little Barn. It was clean, modern and we loved how rural it is, yet easy to get to. Anthony (and Judy) were wonderful with communication and the little touches within the barn were very thoughtful. There were plenty of lovely places to visit during our stay which were detailed in a helpful handbook. The bed was super comfy and we had three very good night's sleep with zero noise and light pollution - what a treat! It was an added bonus that we were able to bring our dog to make the most of such a wonderful location. Thank you for such a warm and welcoming stay, we know where to stay when we are next in the area.

    Becky2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you to Anthony and his team for such a great stay. Communication was easy and speedy, the location of the barn was just beautiful and the barn was faultless. Everything we needed for our stay was available at the barn and it was perfect for a relaxing few days away with the family. The barn was clean and fresh, it was so nice, I think I must have repeated on many occasion 'I could live here'!!! It was the ideal place to shelter from storm Dennis!! Thank you!

    Marcus2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Just the perfect little barn conversion. It had everything we needed for our short stay. Super clean, cosy fireplace. Fully equipped kitchen. The location is secluded but very well positioned to explore beautiful Dorset. We highly recommend it! One piece of advice - try to arrive during daylight as we found it tricky to find at night.

Our house is a lovely large Edwardian terrace within walking distance of the centre of Weymouth. Weymouth has an interesting history and was much enjoyed by the King George III who would often take vacations there. Weymouth is a seaside town with an award winning beach, harbour and visitor attractions; the town is a gateway situated halfway along the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site on the Dorset and east Devon coast, important for its geology and land forms.
The room we are offering is a bright quiet double room overlooking the garden. You have your own toilet next door and separate bathroom with bath and shower. We are happy for you to use other areas in the house such as the kitchen, dining room and garden. The garden is sheltered and a real suntrap, we have garden furniture and a BBQ available to use for al fresco dining on the patio til the sun goes down. We have a resident dog called Lily. You can easily walk to town or the beach within 10 minutes and about 15 minutes to the harbour. Taxis cost £5 to and from the town if you fancy an evening out.
There are many cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars in town. There are water sports locally including diving, kayaking, wind-surfing and sailing. There are beautiful walks.
  • Highly recommend....

  • We stayed for one night while we were visiting family who live close by. From the outset, correspondence was great. We were warmly welcomed on our arrival by Peter and Lily the friendly dog, and were shown to our room. The room was warm and airy with some lovely touches including tea/coffee making facilities. The bed was really comfortable. We had our own toilet and private bathroom. A selection of toiletries was available for our use if required. We were offered full use of the kitchen at any time. A nice breakfast was provided on a help yourself basis. We will definitely return when visiting family again and have already recommended it to other family members.

    Debbie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Emma and Peter’s. Check in was very simple and the space we had was great. Room was beautiful and bathroom and toilet were both well kept and stocked with everything you need. Tea and coffee was available in the room and breakfast was laid on as well including toast, cereal, eggs. The location of the property is brilliant too, only about 15 minutes walk from the town centre and beach. We had fun exploring Weymouth on our anniversary weekend despite storm Dennis! Peter and Emma even helped arrange flowers and Prosecco as a surprise for my girlfriend! Would recommend a stay here if you want a comfy, welcoming and well positioned base for exploring Weymouth. Lily, Peter and Emma’s dog, is also a beauty. Thanks guys!

  • Our stay was absolutely lovely. The location was really great, 20 minutes drive to Weymouth sea front and 15 minutes drive to West Bay. The cottage itself was gorgeous, really cosy and friendly with little cute touches. I was concerned we'd be cold, especially in March but the fireplace was lovely and warm. Very comfortable bed and just an all round really lovely set up. We'd be very keen to stay again!

Abbeystone Cottage is a traditional 17th Century cottage situated in a picturesque Dorset village that lies on the magnificent Jurassic Coast, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With original features such as a large fireplace and woodburner, wooden floors and beams it offers a tranquil escape to the country. Within easy walking distance of many amenities and attractions within the beautiful village it is also surrounded by stunning countryside and lies only a mile from Chesil Beach.
Abbeystone Cottage is a cosy cottage with low ceilings and a traditional yet modern feel. Downstairs is a large living room with beautiful stone fireplace, said to have been built using stone from the nearby abbey. There is a separate sunroom for dining, and a modern kitchen and downstairs bathroom with bath and shower over. Upstairs is a separate toilet and two bedrooms with pretty views over the back garden and main street. Outside is a small garden with both a grass and patio area with table and chairs for enjoying the sun! The kitchen is well equipped with microwave, washing machine and fridge freezer but there are plenty of lovely places to eat out locally.
The village of Abbotsbury is very pretty made up entirely of traditional stone and some thatched cottages. There are a selection of tea rooms to choose from, two pubs, art galleries and a shop. There is also the amazing Abbotsbury Botanical Gardens that have a wonderful October event - The Enchanted Illuminations, and Swannery within easy walking distance as well as a children's farm. The Dorset Coastal Path is virtually on the door step and many excellent fishing spots along the beach can be found close by. Just a short drive away (with some stunning views of the coast) you can visit the fishing harbour of West Bay with it's many places to eat and drink. Next to West Bay is the bustling market town of Bridport which has everything you would need including large supermarkets, chemists and a weekly market. In the other direction lies Weymouth with many restaurants, shops and bars and it's famous sea front.
  • Perfect place to visit the coast, gorgeous village and lovely walks 👍

  • This is the perfect base to walk to the local beach or drive to Lyme Regis, West Bay or any of the other local sites you wish to visit. Great to get back and put the log burner on.

  • Superb value for money cottage in the heart of Abbotsbury village right ont eh high street. Just 5 second walk to the farm shop, 20 seconds to the pub, 45 seconds to tea rooms and 60 seconds to the Spar shop. Add in the numerous dog walks, local rev field and kids play area, church, old chapel, wonderfully friendly locals, beautiful countryside and houses, this village has it all. Naomi’s cottage is cute and warm with log burner and central heating. Very clean, comfy and cosy, and has all the kitchen essentials covered. The dogs had plenty of space to relax after the long wet walks, and the spare dog blankets came in handy when we’d soaked through our own drying them both! Nice hot shower/ bath in the lovely bathroom at the back of the kitchen. Comfy firm mattresses and plenty of quality pillows. The TV, range of DVDs, board games and WiFi were useful for the wet weekend we had! Only odd thing was lack of blinds in the bathrooms, especially the upstairs toilet which has a low clear window right behind the toilet. Very revealing for night time trips to the loo! Fortunately the little garden is fully enclosed all round so hopefully no voyeurs caught a cheeky flash. Would throughly recommend Naomi’s cottage for couples or a small family!

  • My girlfriend, nine-month-old son and I had a lovely three-night stay in Abbeystone Cottage. It’s a great space for a small family to use as a base when exploring the area and we really made the most of the living area, as the big sofas blocked some routes off for our crawling son!! Some of the floors upstairs are slightly sloped and the doorways are quite low, but you soon adapt. It’s nice and quirky rather than any inconvenience. It was very cold when we were there (early Feb) so we used the heating a lot and found that the downstairs bathroom remained cold. Again, not the end of the world and we still gelt comfortable bathing our son in there, it just means the floors are very cold and you’d be wise to have clothes ready on one of the radiators for when you come out. As others have mentioned, the shower lacks power but does the job, so isn’t an issue for a short stay. We loved our time in Abbotsbury, it’s very picturesque, and will look into a return visit in a few years time. Also: We cooked breakfasts and dinners in the cottage and made the most of the farm shop two doors down (great bacon, sausages and longhorn burgers!) and Spar round the corner for essentials. Both pubs in the village are nice, though we spent more time in the Ilchester Arms and would strongly recommend visitors do the 1.25 mile walk to Chesil Beach down the pathway alongside Spar. The scenery is spectacular in parts and it’s only a bit muddy (don’t bring the buggy!! We used a papoose).

  • A fabulous cottage in an equally fabulous location. Highly recommended.

    Julie2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We love staying here. It's spacious, cosy, in a great location and there's a pub and farm shop within 30 seconds! The perfect place for a cosy winter break and exploring the coast!

  • A charming little cottage, clean, tidy and cosy, with everything you might need for a comfortable stay, checking in was a breeze. Well situated in picturesque Abbotsbury, a little farm shop right next door for stocking up on good quality local produce, and a nice pub across the road to relax in. Bring your walking boots as there are some stunning walks through the hills and along the beaches. If you have time, a short drive to Seatown to do a spot of fossil hunting on the beach there, followed by lunch in the Anchor Inn is highly recommended. It was our second visit here, so thanks Naomi for having us again, we’ll definitely return again soon. Lovely touch putting the Christmas tree up in the living room! Alex & Katy

  • Great place to stay in Dorchester. Lovely and clean. off road parking. Very helpful and friendly hosts. Lovely place to visit.

  • I stayed here for a weekend with my wife and 9 month old baby and it was perfect for us. Darren & Wing had thought of everything and were so friendly and welcoming. We could tell they really care and appreciate the people who stay. Check in and check out was a breeze, they were there for both but had already advised us of what to do if they weren't. The place was lovely, absolutely immaculate and looked to have been decorated recently. Highchair and travel cot were available on request which was a nice touch! Everything we could have needed was available in the kitchen, with instructions available for the appliances if required. If you don't want to cook then you don't have to worry, as they had put together a guide of places to dine locally, whether it's eat out or takeaway. The location is ideal, about a 10 minute walk from Brewery Square where there's loads of places to eat and about 1 mile from Tesco. All in all had everything we needed so will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area.

  • The Shepherd's Hut is truly magical! Beautifully decorated, cosy and such a stunning location by the sea. I had a lovely relaxing break and the added touches from Michele - local and eco-friendly products, delicious breakfast and recommendations for walks and restaurants in the area - made my stay even more special. I hope to come back soon!

  • What a magical place . The Shepherds Hut is special without the added extras provided by Michele but they made it a cut above other places we have stayed . The setting is outstanding although storm Dennis was a little too close for comfort at times ! The hut itself is beautifully made and is calm cosy and spotlessly clean . We will be back ! Kate and Andy

  • The shepherds hut is stunning. Michele’s touches made our stay extra special. The local produce and home made goodies were a real treat. Michele was very accommodating especially as I am vegan. Even Storm Dennis with ragging last night, we felt warm and cosy. We will be making a return trip. Highly recommended.

    Sandra2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely overnight stay at the Shepherd’s Hut. It’s really high-quality & the tasty treats provided were much appreciated. We had chosen the same weekend to visit the coast as Storm Dennis had, though the hut was cosy & warm so absolutely no worries there.

    Allie2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Michele's shepherds hut is absolutely fantastic. A very short walk to the sea, we enjoyed it immensely. All the little personal touches make it the cosiest place to stay. We had dinner at The Club House at the end of the road, excellent food. Can't recommend the shepherds hut enough :)
