Places to stay in Sketty
You’ll have a bedroom, ensuite shower room and your own private separate kitchenette in our colourful Californian style bungalow. Both rooms lead off the front door which we don’t use so you don’t have to enter the main part of the house unless you wish to. We are in a convenient & quiet location for visiting Mumbles, Gower and Swansea; it’s 5 min walk from beach & coast path, 10 min from shops, cafes & bars of Mumbles & 10 min drive to the Uni. Free Parking next to house.
You’ll be staying in a cosy bedroom with a very comfortable double bed and a private ensuite shower room concealed behind a mirrored door. The chairs and headboard are upholstered in Caroline’s own textile designs and one wall of the room is taken up by fitted wardrobes which you can use to store your luggage and clothes in during your stay. We have recently installed a separate private kitchenette with a sink, fridge, kettle, toaster, crockery and cutlery opposite the bedroom. It’s fully functional but it’s a work in progress as I take the time in between hosting to hand decorate the walls! Both the bedroom and kitchenette are at the front of the house next to the front door. We don’t use the front door and to give you more privacy we keep the inner door to the main house closed. As some guests have commented its like having your own private suite! You’ll have your own set of keys and you don’t need to enter the main house unless you wish to sit in the garden. Our property was built by an architect as his own home in the 1960's. He’d spent some time in California and the design and layout is inspired by a Californian bungalow, the type you see in a David Hockney painting! It is built around an outdoor swimming pool which takes up most of the garden and the south facing verandah gets so hot in the summer sun that we grow our own grapes. You’re welcome to sit in the garden. Please note that the pool is not fenced off so the property is not suitable for very young children. The house has been featured in many publications - as a progressive project during and shortly after it's construction and more recently for it's beautiful setting and unusual and colourful interior. It was also in an article entitled 'Airbnb in Wales: 17 of the most beautiful, quirky and interesting places you can stay' Our hosting experience was published in the Airbnb UK Insight report 2018. We also have another ensuite bedroom in our house on Airbnb which is occasionally available. It’s called ‘Artists studio with en-suite nr beach and village’ This is the link https://www.airbnb.com/h/californiainwales
If you want a few days to relax, walk, eat, drink and leave your car, the beaches, coastal path, castle and village of Mumbles are all close by. We are in a convenient location on a very quiet road road with easy access to the amenities of the area. Turn left out of the front door and it takes 5-10 minutes to walk to Rotherslade Beach which is sandy and pebbly with a cafe serving breakfast, lunch and coffee all day. 5 minutes walk round the corner to the right is Langland Bay which is a larger sandy beach, popular with surfers and paddle boarders. It is renowned for it's beach huts, palm trees and Surfside cafe on the beach. There is also a good restaurant, Langland Brasserie, at the far end which has an outside deck and is great to sit outside on a warm summers evening. If you continue on the coastal path, it'll take you about 40 mins to walk from Langland to Caswell beach where there is another cafe on the beach. If you're lucky you may see some seals on the way! Turn right out of the front door and within 10 minutes you'll be in Mumbles with a good selection of shops, cafes, bars, Oystermouth Castle, and Joes Ice Cream. The closest access to the coastal path is at Rotherslade Beach from where you can walk around the Gower Peninsula, taking in Caswell, Oxwich, Rhossili and Llangennith. If you have less time you can walk the cliff path in the opposite direction and head towards Mumbles, taking in the Lighthouse, pier and lifeboat house on the way. There is a list of restaurants, cafes and bars in your room along with plenty of maps and information on the area and suggestions of where to visit. If you fancy surfing we can recommend the Progress Surf School in LLangennith which provides all the equipment and lessons for groups and individuals. If you are staying to visit Swansea University or Singleton Hospital the walk along the prom will take about 40 mins or 10 mins in the car.
  • Caroline and Brian's place is so lovely. I felt safe and at home and the house is so beautifully and uniquely decorated. They were so hospitable and welcoming, truly lovely people. We stayed in March for only 1 night and the only negative is that we couldn't stay longer! Rotherslade beach is gorgeous and a short walk from the house, there is a direct bus into Swansea just outside of the house and you can walk easily into Mumbles - the location is perfect!! Thank you so much Caroline and Brian, we hope to be back soon!

Lovely, light and airy room on the second floor of our Victorian town house. The accommodation provides total privacy for guests with en-suite shower room, fridge, microwave, dishes, cutlery and tea/coffee making facilities. (Drinking water from bathroom tap). The price shown is for the room with either one or two guests. Breakfast is not included but there are several breakfast cafes within 2 minutes walk plus grocery shops, restaurants and takeaways. Beach 4 minutes walk.
Huge double bedroom with en-suite We have a very attractive, light and airy bedroom in the attic of our Victorian House in Swansea, Wales. The room has lots of character, with wooden floors and exposed beams. It is a self-contained floor. Guests enter through the front door and go straight up the stairs to the room, which gives a considerable degree of privacy, peace and comfort. The room is for one or two adults only and we have no facilities for babies or children. The room has a kingsize bed, sofa, TV, microwave, kettle, fridge and tea and coffee. There are four, inexpensive breakfast cafes within 2 minutes walk. (Sorry I don't do breakfast) There is an ensuite shower room and excellent Wifi. Bedlinen and towels are provided. Central heating. On road parking if you have a car, or public transport two minutes away if you don't. As this is a city centre location there are some parking restrictions on St. Helens Avenue. There is, however, also plenty of unrestricted parking in our street so you will not have a problem finding a space. Location We are in a great location within walking distance of all Swansea's amenities, including the University. The area is home to many students in term time. It is a young, vibrant and very safe and friendly part of Swansea but don't expect posh or swanky! It is 4 minute walk to the beautiful, sandy beach and 10 minutes to the town centre. It's a 10 minute drive or bus ride to the Gower peninsula and some of the UK's best surfing beaches. It is a 2 minute walk to bars and restaurants: where you can get everything from a full Welsh breakfast to a Chinese, Indian, French or Middle Eastern dinner. There is a really good theatre 10 minutes walk. There is a water sports centre on the beach where you can learn kite surfing and paddle boarding. We are 1 minute from Wales's best ice cream parlour - Joe's - and fish and chips and pizza take aways. We are about 15 minutes walk from Swansea Leisure Centre and the Marina and this is another area where there are plenty of cafes and bars and also the Dylan Thomas Theatre. This is also the site of the National Waterfront Museum.. There is a Boating Lake on the seafront and Crazy Golf. There are cycle paths along the seafront (National Cycle Path 43 on the seafront is a 5 minute walk) and you can hire a bike 2 minutes walk from our front door. We are also on the Wales coastal path, which now goes right around the country. There is also the lovely Singleton Park with it's ornamental gardens. We are 3 miles from the seaside resort of Mumbles - a bus ride away, but it's also possible to walk there, along the sea front. There is a bus stop just round the corner with buses to Gower peninsula, the hospital and the university.
Young, vibrant, multi-cultural neighbourhood with lots of student accommodation, pubs, restaurants and things to do and see. There are some wonderful Asian shops selling food from all over the world. It is very safe and friendly but not what most people would call smart!
  • Lovely room and excellent facilities great value and great location for a city break.

The house is two minutes on foot from Rotherslade and Langland beaches which are great for swimming, surfing and paddle boarding in the summer and windy walks in the winter. There is access to the coast path and is a great walking spot. • We had a brilliant stay, it was as beautiful in reality as in the pictures. Everything was exactly as described. The place was so well equipped - it was just perfect. Carwyn was on hand for queries throughout our stay and beforehand. Can’t recommend it enough!

    Emma2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent house and location. Was set up perfectly for our group of 14. Plenty of room to cook and dine together. Really close to the beach and coastal path but also a short walk to the mumbles so no need to use the car.

    Kris2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place

    Sarah2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We have booked Carwyn’s place for New Years getaway with kids and friends (15 of us all together) and we had fantastic time. Location, facilities and communication with the host was excellent. We were looking for somewhere where we can all fit and be comfortable with all the toddlers and babies and Carwyn’s place was just perfect for that. There is a beautiful beach near by and you can walk to town in 10 minutes. All in all we would highly recommend.

    Eva2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • I booked the house for 2 nights for a surprise party with friends in November. The house is very spacious and comfortable and within minutes of the beach. We all wanted to stay more, it is very comfortable inside and there is plenty to explore outside. It is obvious that much attention has gone in creating a place of such high standard and with a small living area upstairs a large group of 15 can stay for longer without being on top of each other. I have contacted the host to highlight a few things that needed attention in the kitchen as it is probably the most used room in the house and was told that all will be addressed shortly. I highly recommend Langland place.

  • Great place for a family gathering. Plenty of space. Usually a guest house, the whole house can be booked. We were 13 including kids. Only downside was lack of twin beds for the kids on the top floor - it just gets a bit awkward with teenagers, but we managed. Other than that, the house is great, hosts are good. They suggested Chai Deli for catering, who did a great job for us. Overall, highly recommend

    Charles2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible place. Perfect for big group catch up and families. The beach is just a stroll away. The whole house is very stylishly decorated as for the kids room on the top floor they loved it. Thanks for such a wonderful weekend. We need to get our heads together and get next years weekend booked in already!

  • Our second visit to this apartment, just as good as the first. Sparkling clean, modern & stylish space, great location & my favourite view ever. Ian offers great communication, & is always on hand if needed but the apartment is so well equipped it’s unlikely you’ll need him. Prosecco on arrival is always a treat. I love this air bnb, can’t wait to come back again & again.

This was a perfect location and we will definitely be returning.

The Shack - a renovated hundred year old chalet on a quiet lane close to Mumbles cricket club, 100 m away from the cliff top path that goes from Limeslade beach to Langland Bay. It is a lovely, beachy, quirky, coastal space that is perfect on the inside and work-in-progress on the outside!! A great base for Mumbles and The Gower. With a kingsize bed covered in base price we can also sleep two others - in the second bedroom -on a comfy pull-out daybed (an extra charge of £ 10 guest/night).
The Shack is a chalet that was originally built post WW1 and , we think, extended in the 1950,s to include an indoor bathroom ( Thank Goodness!!) It has two bedrooms: Bedroom 1 houses a kingsize super-comfy bed for two guests- this is included in the base price and we can also accommodate 2 extra guests in bedroom 2- on a single day bed that converts to kingsize (at an additional charge of £10 per guest/per night....) House trained and well behaved dogs are welcome, we have a Pooch Policy available on request and we ask that dogs are booked in as an extra guest ( £10 per night). The bathroom has a walk in shower and the kitchen is fully equipped , including a dishwasher. There are no clothes washing facilities within The Shack but we live next door for emergencies!! We are hands-on hosts ( gosh, that sounds a bit sinister, doesn't it?!!) - we are never away when we are hosting so we can be around ( next door) to ensure you have everything you could possibly need for a short stay. Anything you would like to ask- please do!! *****Due to the Shack having lots of freestanding furniture we can't accommodate children 5yrs and under.
Mumbles is a lovely place. The village itself is busy with lots of independent shops cafes and restaurants. The local beaches are lovely and Mumbles is the ideal place to use as a base for further exploration of The Gower. The Shack is on a quiet lane near Mumbles Cricket Club and 100m away, at the end of the lane, is the cliff-top path that takes you to beaches in either direction... Dogs are not allowed on some beaches between 1st May and 30th September.
  • The Shack is much better than the name would have you believe. It’s finished to a very high standard, spotlessly clean and well-maintained. Helen is a wonderful host with a very warm welcome and is on hand for anything you may need. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay and would love to spend more time there to follow the many suggestions Helen offered for places to eat and visit. Mark particularly enjoyed the wood-burner and accompanying marshmallows!

  • Exactly as described. Good value and Ann is a lovely host.

    Sharon2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The location is a really good one, accessible by both bus and a taxi. Ann is a marvelous host. She made sure we had everything and even gave us some tips on getting around town. The Airbnb felt comfortable, clean and very cosy with all the little decorations. The breakfast was modest and wholesome and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. If you are the kind of person who likes living in place which is cosy and warm, this is the place for you.

  • Great place to stay - clean, comfortable, welcoming, and breakfast too.

    Juliet2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Ann was a very friendly and helpful host throughout our entire stay. Her home is very cosy, comfortable and decorated in a lovely way. She thought about all the small details that guests may need. House & the guest rooms were very clean and decent. Neighbourhood is very safe, there is a very pretty garden behind the kitchen which is perfect for a breakfast with a view. Location-wise it is very close to the Uplands area, however depending on the weather in Swansea, it may not always be available to go on foot. I would highly reccommend to share house with Ann, for the cosy, great and feels-like-home atmosphere.

    Gizem2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Ann was very quick with clear responses, so we found the place quite easily. Amazing house and lovely host, very kind and genuine!

  • Great location. Bright, airy and clean accommodation. We stayed on a cold February weekend and loved arriving to this warm cosy house. So many great amenities close by and the beach is a fantastic bonus just across the road. It’s a great base to visit Swansea, Mumbles and the Gower area. Much more pleasant than staying in a hotel!

    Jayne2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, clean, spacious well equipped bungalow. Ideal central location for city and Mumbles. We were visiting our nephew at university - so close! Warm and cosy and a nip across the road to the sea. Thank you.

  • We had a lovely stay at Amy’s place! It’s a very well decorated and beautiful home to stay in, and everything was immaculate. It was a perfect location, just on the edge of the mumbles but still close enough to Swansea to see what there is in the city. It’s also very close to the Singleton Campus of the Uni which makes it a good spot to stay to scope it out for open days and the such. Amy was helpful and responded quickly to any communication. Very happy and would stay again.

    Lisa2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very cosy place to stay. The house is stylish, modern and spacious. Large kitchen with fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Nice bathroom with bath. 3 cosy bedrooms and large garden on the back which unfortunately we couldn’t use because the weather was bad☹️We really enjoyed our stay. Amy was great. Easy check in and there was no rush with check out which we found very kind. Good location, not far from the walking path and sea. Recommend to everyone. Thank you Amy.

  • Myself and the family had a lovely stay here over the weekend for my partner and our son's birthday. The beach house was so cozy, comfy and shower was out of this world. Everything you needed within a 5 minute walk or a short drive. So close to Beach which was lush. Double doors leading to the garden were so convenient for our Dog Willow as she is rather old and hard of walking. So a lovely surprise! Amy was a great host. Quick to respond and check in was an absolute breeze. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had a lovely relaxing family weekend by the sea. Thank you. We will return.

Fantastic location, great for Swansea and gower. Self contained (own toilet, shower, fridge freezer and table top cooking facilities). There is also a washing machine which may be occasionally used by me if you're staying longer term (on request)
Dylan Thomas grew up in this area and his house is very close. There are 3 beautiful parks in close walking distance (Singleton, Brynmill and Cwmdonkin) . I'm 10min walk from the beach, 10mins from city centre and 2min walk to the gower bus top. Great location with a wide range of restaurants, takeaways and pubs all within a 5 min walk at Uplands. Also this area is safe. In2017 the area made the top 20 of Travelsupermarkets ‘Hip hang-out’ neighbourhood index.
  • Michelle place is just what you need for short AND long-term stay. Comfy sofa and bed, fridge, small kitchen, shower and toilet. Big plus is the washing machine (Michelle use it also), so if you are staying longer, buy some washing supplies. I can really recommend it :-) Dog and cat lovers will be pleased with Milo and Bailey visits when you leave open door to the house.

Crockery, cutlery and glassware along with the kitchen cleaning essentials plus dish cloth, tea towel and hand towel are all provided. Tea bags, coffee, individual UHT milk portions, sugar and a few packets of biscuits also provided. The part glazed door off this room leads to the large bedroom with radiator located under the window. This is fully opening and can also provide a ground level emergency exit. A comfortable double bed, two side tables and two bedside lamps face the corner wall mounted 36” Smart tv. There is a blanket box for your luggage and a large sliding mirrored doors walk-in wardrobe with interior light, shelving, hanging rail (some hangers) and shoe rack. A small lobby area has a desk and local guides and information leaflets. A plug-in PIR security nightlight/torch provides safe low-level night light for safe access to the bathroom. The part glazed door with lock leads to the large en-suite bathroom. A double-sided basin vanity unit provides ample storage with mirror and magnifying mirror above. The shaving socket can also be used to recharge electric toothbrushes. A corner entry shower unit with shallow step up has both large overhead and hand-held options with mains feed water pressure and recessed shelf for easy reach toiletries. A small vintage stool provides seating between the shower and the double-ended bath tub. A heated towel rail and auto extractor keep the room warm and aired. The wc has easy access from all sides and is macerator and pump emptied as the house is cut back into the ground, below mains drains height. Some toiletries, a First Aid Kit and a non-slip shower/bath mat are provided, along with one hand towel and one bath sheet per person. The flat has just undergone a full renovation, complete with new floors, doors and bathroom. The walls are painted in Farrow & Ball Strong White, ceilings in white, and doors, frames and skirtings are natural wood giving a calm and restful space. The double-glazed windows face south and are fitted with both zebra blinds and curtains to enable a variety of different light levels and privacy. Ceiling spot downlighters are supplemented with mood lighting from a variety of lamps. Individual artwork decorates the walls and surfaces. The central heating boiler and controls are in the owner's accommodation and heating is set for early morning and evening. Individual thermostats on the 5 radiators within the guest flat can be altered to suit. Hot water is continuous. Numerous electrical sockets and outlets are provided throughout the flat and wifi coverage is excellent throughout. A surge-protected Universal and USB multi socket extension lead is provided along with a hairdryer. 100% Egyptian cotton bed linen, hollow filled microfibre pillows (of variable firmness) and duvet are provided. Cushions and snuggle rugs should give you a home-from-home experience. All the door frames are high and wide, there are recessed LED spotlights and no dangling light-fittings, so with the bed having no footboard, the flat is suitable and comfortable for tall guests. Once through the front door, there are no internal steps and the shower tray is also shallow access. LGBT welcome. We can provide an iron and ironing board if you have an important event to prepare for. A Maxicosi travel cot and John Lewis strap on type high chair can be provided, but cot bed linen must be provided by guests. Well behaved and well-groomed, clean dogs are welcome, by prior arrangement only. Please bring their own bedding, crate, towels, bowls, food etc and keep them off all furnishings out of respect for other guests. Dogs must never be left alone in the flat unless previously discussed and expressly arranged with the owner e.g. for a hospital visit. You will be liable for any damage done by your pet. Dogs may use the lawn to toilet, but please scoop and bag all waste and seal in the bin provided. A short walk to the extensive parklands (250 acres) of Singleton or smaller Brynmill Park (with a children’s play area, duck pond and kiosk) and onto the beach will give your dog plenty of off-lead exercise. You will find that a limited supply of the following are provided in the flat for your use: Tea bags, coffee, sugar, biscuits, ketchup, soya sauce, salt, pepper, kitchen roll, tissues, loo roll, basic first aid kit, hand soaps, bubble bath, washing up liquid, cotton wool cleansing pads, cotton buds, dish cloth, cleaning cloth. Please note that we do not supply breakfast, milk or food of any kind. The shops locally supply just about anything you might need, with cafes, takeaways and restaurants all available locally. The gardens are a work in progress, with most of the heavy landscaping completed, so guests can already enjoy use of a swinging hammock and picnic table, lawn and gradually stocked beds. Work is ongoing in both house and gardens, but I try, where possible, to undertake this when guests are out for the day.
Having lived in the area over many years, I chose this property for it's perfect location; it is central, very safe and a lovely neighbourhood. Access to everything you could possibly need is really easy and fast. The house is well set back off the A4118, heading East into Swansea City Centre and the Bus and Train Station or West out to Mumbles and Gower. There are supermarkets, takeaways, pubs, cafes, restaurants and every kind of eateries to suit every taste and budget, all within easy walking distance in both Uplands and Sketty Cross and within the Uni and Hospital. A short walk through the stunning Singleton Park leads past the Botanical Gardens, through rolling parklands into the Ornamental Gardens and onto the Singleton Campus of Swansea University and the Taliesin Theatre, or in to Singleton Hospital, or straight down onto Swansea Bay/Beach and the cycle path direct to Mumbles or the City Centre. The flat is well located for the winebars and live music venues in Uplands, the theatres, shopping, Liberty Stadium and Welsh National Pool, cinemas and the stunning AONB Gower Peninsular.
  • Oonagh is a really thoughtful and hospitable host. The apartment is that ideal mix of cosy, but nothing unnecessary. There were lots of lovely touches, including a jar of dog treats. I would highly recommend it and it is great value for money.

    Ruth2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Oonagh is a great host! The place is fantastically clean and of course dog friendly which was my criteria. ‘Dog friendly’ should not put you off in relation to cleanliness and condition. 5 Star through and through.

  • The apartment is spotless. Fantastic host who answers all questions quickly, and is available to meet you on arrival and has great local knowledge. Cannot fault anything about our stay.

    Helen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Oonagh's place is an awesome setup, starting with fast and thorough comms before the visit which helped in our understanding of the accommodation and surrounding area. We found the apartment with no trouble and being able to pull up right outside and unpack our belongings and beagle without looking for places to park and crossing roads etc. was a big deal to us. The outside and parking area feels very safe, well lit and private. Oonagh welcomed us upon arrival taking the time to settle us in and explain everything that we needed to know. Oonagh's comprehensive knowledge of Sketty and the surrounding area made a huge difference to us as we planned most of our time around recommended places to eat, drink and walk our dog. The apartment was perfect - immaculately clean and well thought out with contemporary design and amenities. We'll definitely be back to stay with Oonagh, I don't think Air B&B gets better value than this! Many thanks again Jay & Lisa x

Four bedroom house in Blackpill, Swansea 100 metres from 2 miles of beach. Safe, off road parking for 5 cars. Two sitting rooms, dining room (seating for 8) and fully fitted kitchen - American style fridge freezer to stock up on essentials. Generous outside living spaces. Gas BBQ provided. Sun room with decking at the bottom of garden. Fully enclosed garden - safe for dogs and children. Plenty of outside activities, bracing beach walks, large parks, close to shops, sky channels and X Box.
Our house and its surroundings has something to offer every member of the family. Our garden is private and fully enclosed so makes an ideal space for alfresco dining and a safe space for both children and dogs to enjoy. There is a summer house at the bottom of the garden with a decking area - ideal if anyone wants a little peace and quiet. We have a beach (across the road), parks, pubs and restaurants all within an easy, flat walk. For those who enjoy outdoor activities, we have cycle paths close by (the mumbles is a 5 minute bike ride away), an outdoor lido, tennis, footy golf (directly opposite) and water sports (10-15 minute walk away). For those rainy days, we have the national pool, LC leisure centre (which has an indoor fun pool and indoor climbing), cinemas, museums, 10 pin bowling and indoor trampolining for all ages. The Gower peninsular is a short drive away - we have often taken the boat out and been followed by dolphins.
  • My family and I came here for my brothers 30th and NYE, the house is well equipped and very clean and tidy. Sharon was very good at communicating throughout our stay. All round great place to stay with lots of great things to do close by! Would highly recommend.

  • A lovely stay ideal for exploring the Gower. Beautiful house

    Pauline2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a lovely weekend at this house. It is very well equipped with lots of extras that you don’t normally get. The kitchen and appliances are all excellent. There is a lovely feel to the kitchen / dining area where we could cook and still be involved with everyone else. Lovely garden and patio area. We walked into the Mumbles along the coast path which took about 20mins and a delightful walk. I would certainly recommend this house.

    Michelle2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon’s house is amazing. Very spacious, clean and well equipped. The location and parking is great, stones throw from the beach. The garden is amazing and even had a fire pit and BBQ. Would 100% recommend!

The living spaces are perfect for chilling, be it a hot summer's day in the garden or cozying on down in the living room in winter. The location is brilliant for beaches and Mumbles. Sharon is a great host.

Welcome to our family home, located in a quiet suburb but within 10-15 minutes walking distance from university and hospital, shops, restaurants, bus routes and sea front. The room with ensuite is located in a side extension to the original house, with French doors opening onto your own patio area overlooking the lower level back garden. The room has tea/coffee making facilities and you can use the kitchen which is adjacent and shared with the rest of the family.
The room is eclectically furnished, a mix of new and old, up cycled items. Previous guests comment how comfortable the bed is (Silent Night 7 zone memory foam), and how spacious the bathroom with toilet, wash basin and level access shower. I can provide a choice of wool, feather/down or synthetic bedding, and ample supply of towels. There is excellent WiFi to catch up TV on your own device, or you can join us in the living room. We sleep upstairs and our adult son has his quarters on the other side of the ground floor, so you have all the privacy after we retire to bed. You can exit/enter the room directly via the patio and side path but keys to the front door are also provided.
Our house is in a very quiet neighbourhood, in a cul-de-sac. It is a 15 minute walk from Singleton hospital, Swansea University and the sea front, 10-15 minutes to nearest shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants and ancient woodland Clyne Woods. There is a choice of nearby bus stops that take you to the city centre, or the other way to Mumbles which is a favourite with tourists and locals for Italian ice cream and coffee, quirky shops, good food and drink, and leisurely walks along the seafront. The amazing Gower Peninsula is on our doorstep.
  • A wonderful room, spacious with a lovely bathroom. Great to have a private entrance to the room as well.

  • I really enjoyed staying at Sylvia's lovely home in Sketty for six weeks, which is located in a 'nice' part of Swansea about 20 minutes walk to Singleton Hospital/Swansea University Singleton campus. I had breakfast included, an incredibly comfortable king size bed, desk/office chair, large ensuite, kettle for tea/coffee-making and my own entrance into the garden. All very clean, warm, comfortable and pleasant. I would definitely recommend.

    Elizabeth2019-12-14T00:00:00Z

  • Everything was outstanding. It was perfect for a quick get away. Everything was spotless and we had the whole downstairs to ourselves which was really nice. There is also a map with stickers for people to show where they’ve come from all over the world which I thought was a really nice touch! However, me and my partner both forgot toothpaste so my suggestion would be to supply toiletries like toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner etc. for forgetful people like us!!

This is an option for two people preferring twin beds. The double room at the front with a fab view of the City and the gorgeous Bay beyond will become your sitting room. The private loo is within your room behind doors concealing it and beneath a low beam, please note. There are two other loos in the house that you can use on a respectful basis. Please enjoy our lovely sitting room and small south-facing garden at the front. Occasional use of the kitchen is possible by prior arrangement.
Its an attractive Victorian house in a colourful street. You have the top floor to your selves. The rear garden isn't shared (except when joining us, for example, for your welcome cuppa!!), or, unless required for an event that you'd like to arrange or if you'd like to harvest any fruit for yourselves to eat. Please enjoy the shared living room which provides access to the front garden overlooking the street (it has a sliver of a sea view... your front attic is the place to enjoy the view) and you can use this modest garden space exclusively if you would like to sit outside on your own - or to be joined by our lovely cats. If you have an allergy to cats this is absolutely no problem as we can prevent their access to any and all areas you would be using. This has operated successfully in the past. We are also a gluten-free household. We welcome vegans and vegetarians too.
    Enjoy your stay
  • Tip top hosts. I have nothing but compliments to shower over Mary and izzie. Would highly recommend.

  • This is my second time staying at Vicki's and it is always a pleasure. Easy check-in, comfortable room in a stylish space and access to tea and coffee. Vicki is a great host providing local tips but giving her guests their space when they need it. I would highly recommend a stay at hers if you are visiting the Swansea area for either work or fun.

    Rebecca2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Vicki's place is a comfortable space and is conveniently located for both the motorway and local amenities with Swansea centre a bus ride away. Vicki is incredibly friendly and hospitable and was available to answer any questions I had about check in or the local area. The bed and room were warm and it was very much a home away from home. I would recommend to any traveller in the Swansea area.

Static caravan located in large private wildlife garden in a rural part of Swansea. Great base to explore the Gower Peninsula (30 mins to Llangennith Beach) and close enough to the city centre for business visitors (10 minute drive). Caravan is 30m from the house and accessed via a path from off road parking space. I will leave you in peace but will be available to help whenever needed. Including info on beaches, waterfalls, walking, surfing, mountain biking, climbing, wild swimming, eating out.
Located only 10 minutes from the M4 and 10 minutes to the centre of Swansea in a unique rural area. Here you get the best of both worlds, easy access to the Gower Peninsula Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty, whilst close to the city, shops, pubs and other amenities. 5 minutes walk to local shop, or 5 minute drive to a Tesco Extra. My garden is a beautiful wild space with large oaks trees, a pond, a stream, wild birds, wild flowers, beehives and chickens. I am also next to a Local Nature Reserve which offers a beautiful walk in an oak woodland. Smart TV - including Netflix DAB radio Secure bike storage
Waunarlwydd is on the edge of the Gower Peninsula. The area in which I live is a unique rural valley with farms, wild spaces and a local nature reserve. Only 30 minutes drive to Llangennith, and easy to access to motorway if you wanted to explore the Brecon Beacons or Pembrokeshire National Park.
  • What a wonderful beautiful place to say, I could sit in the window all day and watch the birds & chickens, highly recommend and we will be back x

  • A wonderful stay at Olivers! Cosy yet more spacious than expected with plenty of storage for clothes including a wardrobe with hangers and shelves. The fire kept us lovely and warm and we enjoyed the views of the beautiful wild garden with birds in the trees right outside our windows and Olivers chickens! Lovely added touches of games and books, especially enjoyed the one about the life of a honeybee! Would definitely recommend!

  • the mobile home is in a private garden in a beautiful location, the caravan is somewhat dated but contains all the necessary facilities for a pleasant stay.

    Susanne2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Caravan was lovely and clean, and had all that we needed for a few days away. Definitely lives up to its cosy name! Oliver was friendly and helpful with prompt responses to queries we had. We also used one of the OS maps from the caravan on a walk and we would happily stay here again in the future.

    Ben2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay, great host and a fun contrast to regular hotel rooms!

    Cristina2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Needed a place to rest our heads whilst our daughter was in hospital for surgery. Oliver's cosy little hideaway was perfect. Great location, clean and tidy, spacious and quiet. Olly was great host, quick to respond and very polite. Will be using his caravan again😄

    Bill2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • On arrival the site looked a bit ramshackled and garden very wild. Despite this the caravan was located in a good position to explore this beautiful area and was comfortable, warm and spotlessly clean. Access was easy and parking off the narrow road. Cooking facilities totally adequate. Good internet access. Convenient for supermarkets and other shops. The weather was chilly, windy and torrential rain showers but we can imagine it would be good to sit on the decking enjoying the birds and chickens activities. Ollie was friendly and on hand for advice. It is extremely good value for the money and we certainly recommend.

The pet friendly ‘Chalet at Cow Corner’ is an eclectic, book lovers retreat. Small, but perfectly formed, this 2 bedroomed chalet bungalow is tucked between Limeslade Bay and the Mumbles Cricket Club with easy access to the Gower Peninsula and a minutes walk to the world renowned Wales Coastal Path. Ideal for those wishing to be near the village of Mumbles and the beautiful bays of Langland and Caswell, this bungalow comes equipped with everything you might need for a perfect getaway.
The chalet consists of entrance porch, with toys and puzzles, the perfect place to dry your wet weather gear and discard your walking boots. The porch is also where you will also find a cold bag, freezer packs, thermos flask, plastic food containers, beach shelters, picnic rugs, umbrellas, walking sticks, hot water bottles, dog bowl, shopping bags and other beach paraphernalia. Basically, if you can't find it, it's probably in the porch! Please remove excessively muddy boots before entering the cosy sitting room with television, DVD player, CDs, books and maps. Designed for sprawling and relaxing, there is also a Nintendo Wii console with various games for the family to enjoy. I’m told that it may be of interest to point out that we have now upgraded to a SMART TV. The fully equipped galley kitchen is situated between the sitting and dining areas - well placed so that the cook is never excluded from whatever is going on in either area. There is a washing machine, slimline dish washer, full sized cooker, with ceramic hob and fridge freezer, not to mention a slow cooker and all the various pots and pans you may need. The double bedroom although small, contains a full size double bed and a generous amount of storage space, you will also find additional blankets in the upper cupboards should they be needed. The bunk room has a toy chest with more books and toys for rainy days, there may also be some dressing up stuff, depending on what's been left by visiting grandchildren. The bathroom consists of WC and full sized shower. The combi boiler provides instant hot water and the central heating is linked to the thermostat in the sitting room. Outside patio with table, chairs and sun umbrella are also available for your exclusive use. Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Iceland and Waitrose all deliver (admittedly I have never actually used Waitrose, but I’ve seen the vans 😊)
There are no cows at the Pet Friendly ‘Chalet at Cow Corner’ the name is derived from its position relative to the local cricket ground. This is a quiet cul de sac with a mixture of residential and holiday homes. The Mumbles Cricket Club (MCC) hosts many social events throughout the Cricket Season, and visitors are always welcome to make use of the facilities. The nearby Village of Mumbles is well within walking distance with its many pubs, restaurants and boutique shops, although some guests might prefer to take the more scenic route back via the bays of Bracelet and Limeslade in order to avoid the steep ‘short cut’ back home. The Gower Peninsula is a short drive away, in fact the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty starts right opposite the front door of the Chalet at the boundary of the field across the road and when the breeze is lively you can hear the Mixen Bell clanging it’s warning from the Mixen Sands off the Cherrystones Reef out in the Bay. At the top of the cul de sac you reach the cliff top path, this is a perfect spot to sit and watch the seals at low tide, the memorial benches are there for all to enjoy. From here turn right for the famous surfing beach of Langland and the lesser known Rotherslade and Crab Reef, or left for Limeslade, Bracelet and the Mumbles Pier and Lifeboat Station. The Gower Peninsula is now a ‘Dark Skies’ destination and as there is no street lighting here, it’s the perfect place from which to view the constellations - better still, on starry nights, take yourself up onto the cliff with a drink of your choice and gaze out across the bay. Watch out for badgers though!
  • Comfortable and well equipped, Vivienne’s place was great for our short stay. Ideally situated close to the cliff path it is a perfect setting off point for walks along the coast and trips into Mumbles.

    Val2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had an ace couple of nights in Vivienne's chalet. Perfectly located for Mumbles/Gower.

  • This place is a true little gem! Tucked away in a fantastic location on one of the most stunning coastlines in Wales. Sparkling clean, super warm and welcoming and some lovely finishing and thoughtful touches and so very well equipped. This truly felt like a home from home for my family and I. Thanks, Vivienne. We will be back to make more magical memories in The Mumbles ❤️

    Hayley2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you to very friendly hosts & your quick responses. We loved the character of the cosy chalet, lovely and warm and we even got some sunshine in the Stormy February half term. Would recommend.

    Katy2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Vivienne was a perfect host, lots of helpful advice and tips, plus excellent recommendations for places to eat and things to do. The chalet had everything we needed and more, loved the book collection, didn't enjoy the GCHQ puzzle book but only because I was rubbish and struggled to do even the easy puzzles, even with the clues :) The chalet is at the top of a hill, not a problem for us as this was a walking holiday and we had a drink at Castellamare before heading up to the chalet. We found the locals super friendly, helpful and love a chat, which I enjoyed.

Our flat is on the first floor of a terraced house just a stones throw away from the Uplands. Glamour Rd in Uplands is now a trendy residential area close to all the Uplands has to offer, the City centre, the Beach & Parks, The Gower and The Mumbles are all easily accessed Our flat has is just a short walk away from pubs, small clubs, music venues, cafes whilst having a quiet area to sleep at night The heating is all electric so you can switch it on or off as you wish!
You will be on the first floor of the house, there are stairs up from the ground floor leading you into the kitchen at the rear of the house with a washing machine, electric cooker and fridge freezer.. The bathroom has a shower along with shower gel and shampoo. has a spacious lounge with two sofas and includes a four seat dining table and chairs, a double bedroom which is made up with fresh sheets and of course a hot water bottle for those with cold feet!
The Uplands is a very popular residential zone which has become quite trendy over the last few years as it is also very close to the City centre. There are lots of local cafes including vegetarian and vegan, pubs, music venues and also supermarkets etc. There is also a Saturday morning market every month selling typical Welsh produce including jams, Welsh cakes and local paintings. We also recommend going to the historical indoor Swansea Market for a taste of Cockles, locally caught and Welsh cakes and a lovely roast dinner! Swansea Castle ruins are also in the City Centre just at the top of Wind Street with all the night life and clubs you could wish for!
  • Great host, immediate reply. Easy parking. Spacious apartment, clean and well equipped. Central to Uplands, perfect for our needs.

Small cottage, close to shops and Singleton Park, 20 min walk to the sea. Nice sunny garden at the back. Quiet location in a cul de sac. Guests will be expected to cat sit a greedy cat (two feeds per day). The main bedroom has a double bed and there is a child's bedroom with a toddler cot, but there's potentially also space for adult guest or 2 children on airbed/futon.
