  • We Stayed in Woodpecker Lodge and have had a fantastic stay. Keith and Serena are lovely hostswith lots of local information. The lodge was perfect....there is a Woodpecker which you can hear and you may be lucky to see the Deer if you wander the pathways. There is an onsite store and a nearby Superstore for all needs. The hot tub sets it all off, it was ready for use when we got there and is great to get in at night with some Bubbly.

  • Well what can I say about woodpecker lodge? Absolutely amazing! We wanted a quiet and relaxing weekend to de stress and this log cabin was exactly the perfect place! The cabin was stylish and comfy. The kitchen well equipped for all needs and the log burner was amazing on the cold nights. We loved the hot tub with multi function and lights and even enjoyed it during stormy weather with torrential rain which made it even more special! Keith and his wife were awesome hosts and totally went above and beyond for us when we had a flat tyre! These guys are truly awesome and we will be recommending this place to our friends and family!

  • We had the best time at Woodpecker Lodge! The location is beautiful, private and so peaceful. The hot tub (an absolute favourite) and the wood burner made our stay extra special. Our great hosts responded quickly and couldn’t do enough to help. As a group we would absolutely recommend Woodpecker Lodge and we fully intend on returning for a longer stay in the future! :)

  • Beautiful log cabin set among the forest. Best thing about it was sitting in the hot tub with the star spattered sky above you, listening to the sounds of the wild like an owl and its chicks. You don’t get to hear or see much of that in the city! The cabin was spotless, the log burner a cosy touch and the kitchen was well stocked with every utensil, pan etc. you could possibly need. Perfect little break away and I would recommend to anyone!

    Sarah2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Woodpecker Lodge is perfect! It’s clean and has everything you could possibly need. It’s in a secluded location and therefore you have your privacy. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

  • Really cosy and romantic cabin with plenty of space. We stayed in woodpecker lodge with a hot tub for three nights. For our first night we only had one neighbour but thankfully the hot tub is mostly covered by a wooden screen - the hot tub next door was the other side of some bushes and we could hear the others but it didn’t disturb us. Access to the hot tub was a little chilly as you can’t go from the cabin door down the steps to it, there’s a wooden ramp before hand but once you’re in the tub it’s lovely. The shop was shut when we went to visit for more drinks or kindling (you get enough for 1 fire) but we sent a message and they opened up quickly for us. We were given detailed maps and some recommendations of where to go and what to see. We did the pooh sticks walk which was about 3 miles in total and had some nice views. The amenities were clean but the crockery and cutlery was all poorly washed so we had to clean things as we used them - that’s most likely the fault of previous occupants though and not necessarily the hosts. All in all a positive experience, it was a relaxing, charming atmosphere and comfortable.

  • I would highly recommend this beautiful place. So relaxing and cosy. Staff are very helpful and friendly with giving tips on what to do locally. I would love to come back again.

  • Woodpecker Lodge is the perfect place for a relaxing break. The lodge is bigger than it looks in the photos, and has absolutely everything you need. The hot tub was lovely and warm, and perfect for relaxing after a long day of walking. The lodge is cosy and very warm and welcoming. We will definitely be coming back again.

  • Paul was the perfect host, from the minute we arrived we were treated with the best hospitality. The venue exceeded everyone’s expectations and was perfect for the hen do we had planned. The food was fantastic! I cannot fault our stay we will most certainly be back and I could not recommend more! Thank you Paul

    Charlotte2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place with lots of things to do. We would love to return when the weather improves and make use of the lovely outdoor pool and facilities but the hot tub was fantastic. In the evening we made use of the separate ‘party area’ which was lovely. Paul lit the wood burner so we all sat down and ate together or had a dip in the tub. Lyme Regis is fab for a day out, fresh fish and lovely shops. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

    Kerry2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place for a hen party. Super accommodating host (Paul), very friendly and on hand to help with any queries. So many great little touches - fires burning on arrival, massage chair, karaoke, hot tub ...the lists goes on... Fantastic value and location.

    Jacqui2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was a lovely, laid back host. He made sure that the fires were lit to keep us warm out in the party house, and was always available if we needed anything. The place itself was amazing and is simply the perfect location for any event/occasion (we were celebrating a 21st birthday). I would not hesitate to book again!

    Chloe2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • 12 of us headed down to Mistletoe Farm for a hen party in January and it could not have been more perfect. The location was beautiful and we had a lovely countryside walk to the Haymakers pub nearby. The venue itself was amazing - beautiful buildings, nice clean beds, everything we needed. Our favourite was the bar/party room which was well stocked and had great touches such as the disco lights and karaoke machine. The log burner kept it nice and cosy and there was plenty of space for us to chill/dance/eat/party. Paul and his family were excellent hosts - a great mix of tolerant (!) attentive, but not at all in the way, and good humoured. They made a delicious curry for our dinner - the onion bhajis especially were a huge hit. He kept our fire burning and seemed to be so pleased that we were having a great time in the surroundings he'd created. We're already plotting an excuse to head back down in the future, if they'd have us - be it for another hen, a family get together or just a countryside retreat. Wonderful, flexible venue and hosts!!! Thank you so much, the hen and the rest of us had the best time.

    Joanne2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We all had the best time here, 10 of us visited to celebrate a 30th. Paul was the perfect host who was there when we needed him, then let us have the place to ourselves the rest of the time! He was so helpful showing us round and so relaxed around setting up the rooms with decorations to make it an extra special birthday. The party rooms are separate from the sleeping areas which makes it really to host events here and the hot tub, party room with kareoke, sauna and bar were real highlights. Could not recommend this place more for hosting birthday or group celebration!

    Natalie2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place - outstanding hospitality from Paul, always happy to help and making sure the fire(s) were lit. Pool/hot tub/sauna excellent and clean.

  • Anna’s cottage is a beautiful retreat tucked away with great views. Anna greeted us on arrival with delicious cake and coffee. We found the kitchen better equipped than our own at home and the bed really comfy. In the evenings we would put our young daughter to bed and take the baby monitor outside with us for a drink in the hot tub, it was blissful! We drove to a couple of beaches on both days and looked forward to getting back into the warmth and cosiness of the cottage. Thanks Anna!

    Meghann2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The Nuthatch is extremely homey yet modern with a cosy feel. Unfortunately I ended up staying during Storm Dennis. Anna was amazing and allowed us to check in early to avoid being caught driving in the storm. She was very helpful and gave very quick communication via the app. Although I didn’t get to explore the area as much as I’d hoped due to the storm I had such an enjoyable stay. There were games, puzzles, books and dvds left in the property which kept us occupied! Finally, when the rain and wind settled we got to have a dip in the hot tub, which was lovely with amazing views. Anna provides tea, coffee, milk and eggs and her homemade lemon drizzle cake was a lovely extra touch. I definitely will be back to explore the area, hopefully the weather will be on my side!

    Chelsea2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful hidden place in the countryside. The hot tub was just amazing in the February weather, and Anna left us freshly baked brownies and milk in the fridge. Such lovely touches! Place was clean and tidy and just like a home away from home, tucked away in the hills. Must be comfortable driving down narrow country lanes though!

    Grace2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely weekend away from city life at the nuthatch. Upon arrival we were greeted by Anna with cake and introduced to the lovely bungalow which had everything we needed. The hot tub was wonderful and we just wish we’d have stayed longer.

    Sam2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect week away from a busy lifestyle... got settled in with handmade scones! Delicious. Anna was wonderful, she checked in on us and made sure we were okay. She wasn’t intrusive and we didn’t feel pressured. It was perfect. Relaxing in the hot tub with the view of the countryside was lovely, the stars are so bright. The facilities were luxurious; lovely kitchen with all the utensils we could ask for, nice dining area complete with a pot of tea for two, comfy sofa, big choice of games, books, and a few dvds. The bed was lovely and comfortable and the bathroom nice and roomy. We felt tranquil and happy, a perfect week away. Thankyou Anna, we would 100% return :)

  • A very tranquil and private accomodation, with easy access to Axminster. We enjoyed our stay for 2 nights.

  • We had a great time at Simon and Greta’s and felt very looked after. We arrived to a fridge full of all the essentials plus fresh eggs, apples grown in the orchard and even some delicious cider. We were there to visit Lyme Regis and draw the landscape, so we were perfectly located with a 20 minute drive to the beach. We were there in October and had a couple of days with high winds but it was so cosy to be in our little studio hide out. It felt so snug. Thank you for a lovely weekend.

    Kate2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This studio is exactly as described. Very comfy beds, a couple of arm chairs for tv watching. We took our own supper and there were plenty of cooking utensils and crockery. Fabulous provisions for breakfast, a real bonus, with fab verandah and view. Lovely hosts.

  • Laura's place was like something out of a Christmas Rom-Com movie! Chocolate box cottage perfection with tons of character and so cozy. We loved our stay and would gladly go back in a flash. If only it had snowed... apart from that can't fault anything, thanks Laura x

    Octavia2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This little cottage is just beautiful and charming in every way. We were so sad to leave. If you are looking for a complete get away this is perfect. The facilities are fantastic and as it has been mentioned there is everything you need apart from clothes. We didn't believe it but honestly there are herbs, spices, stock cubes, I could go on. Of course we still brought everything! We didn't experience much of the surrounding area as we just wanted time out but the surrounding countryside is beautiful.

    Sarah-Lou2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful dog-friendly cottage with the most amazing beamed ceiling upstairs and a really easy-to-light woodburner in the cosy sitting room. We arrived to find a lovely welcome gift and milk in the fridge, and the offer of using any of the larder staples is a really nice touch. It was easy to get to the beach at Charmouth and Seatown, and Forde Abbey’s garden (dog friendly) is well worth a visit. We didn’t bring wellies so couldn’t make the most of the walks - the fields around were very wet and boggy, and our walking boots didn’t really cut it. Next time...

    Tass2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in this charming cottage for 3 nights in September. The house really feels unique and full of character throughout; from the cute features on the doors within the house to the beautiful bedroom and living room. The house is really cosy, and has heaters/radios in each room as well as a fireplace in the lounge. Overall the house was exactly what we were hoping for. Thank you for a great stay and easy check in!

  • Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Well worth a visit and the perfect place to get away from the stresses of everyday life. Cottage is well maintained, clean & tidy and supplied with everything you need. The host supplied a lovely welcome pack and provides lots of local information. Hewood itself is a tiny hamlet, surrounded by fantastic countryside. Lots of hidden local places to visit and an easy drive to Jurassic Coast. Thoroughly recommend the Safar Indian restaurant in Axminster.

    Andrew2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Laura's place. The cottage is absolutely charming, in a very quiet hamlet surrounded by fields. Laura was very responsive to emails and recommended lovely places to walk to. A perfect airnbn experience.

  • Charming little cottage, fantastic for emerging yourself in rural Dorset life. We had a great time exploring the local areas walks and beaches.

  • The cottage in Hewood is truly fairy-tale beautiful. It is located in a very small village where time has stood still. The house is small, but comfortable and very atmospheric. In the small garden with apple trees you can sit when the weather is nice. Laura's attentions and also the well-equipped kitchen with numerous foods make you feel welcome. The beds are wonderful and there is absolute peace. From the village further down Thornecombe we have made some beautiful walks, through the hills, along streams, through the fields, long cows and sheep. You walk in complete tranquility, through a lovely landscape. The coast is half an hour away and definitely worth it! Dorset is a place to come back to and I would choose Laura's cottage again!

  • What a great Airbnb! A warm welcome into a special house, in a beautiful area. Church View is a really well thought out space, with lots of nice touches. The breakfast bits were fantastic and makes Christina's place great value. Definitely recommend!

  • Book this place! I’ve been on Airbnb for 10 years and this is my number 1 favorite stay ever. The home is immaculate and the hosts are the kindest and most elegantly accommodating. So grateful to travel and find gems like this. Worth so much more than they charge, you’ll be so happy you stayed with Christine. I’ll definitely be back soon for another visit!

    Harpreet2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic apartment with beautiful views at the top of an amazing Grade 2 historic building. Everything was as described and very clean. There are many beautiful walks in the surrounding areas which I would really recommend. Thank you to Christina for the recommendation of the Candlelight Inn - very cozy, cute local pub! It can get slightly chilly without central heating but there are a couple space heaters and an electric blanket. I would definitely come back and would recommend!

    Jordan2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The flat was perfect for our two night break away, easy to find and spotlessly clean. We were made to feel right at home and would definitely stay again, thank you!

    Jenn2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is lovely, spacious and very well appointed with a superb view. The house itself is full of character and set in a very quiet location, so nothing to disturb your sleep. The hosts have left a plethora of information about local things to do. The village has no pub so it is a bit of a walk or a short car ride to find somewhere to eat but the kitchen in the apartment has more than sufficient facilities to self-cater. Lovely hosts with a lovely home - an Airbnb classic!

    Michael2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderfully beautiful home, with a lovely host who went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable. The accommodation has everything you need, spotlessly clean and felt very homey and welcoming. I highly recommend staying here.

  • This place is a little gem, exceeded expectations without a doubt. Much bigger than I anticipated. Kitted our with everything and more than you could wish for. Some essentials were there for us to enjoy, such as bread, butter, homemade plum jam, duck eggs milk tea and coffee. Paula was a wonderful host who showed me round and was happy for me to contact her whilst there if we needed anything we didn’t have (as I said previously they have kitted this place out with literally everything you could need/want) Visiting family in the area this was perfect for myself, my daughter and our pooch Marley. Will certainly book again. Thanks again.

  • We had a lovely time here and it was a great place to stay. Wonderful hosts and the eggs and bread were a lovely thought. Thank you very much

  • This place was a perfect stay for me and my family. We had stayed there for 13 nights, when entering the site we had an impact of an exceeded expectation. The place is in a very beautiful hilly location, close to Ilminster and you can supply easier with food and drinks. The annex is great, very tidy clean and warm and it has also history: it has around 400 years old and it used to be something else, they renovated using the walls between the bedroom, lounge and bathroom (the remaining of the old building maybe) and added the rest of it and gave a classic style that you feel when entering inside. There is also a longcase clock and it's up to you whether you want to pull the cable pulleys or not. Paula and Chris are two lovely hosts and they know the area very well and they can guide you especially if you are looking for carboots or other similar events. They are very flexibile and understanding, and if you have a pet or not, looking for a relaxing place for holidays , this place is the best for you!

Rural barn in beautiful setting within walking distance of The Cotley Inn, Wambrook. Separate from main house. Spacious room, super-king bed, en suite bathroom, wifi, no cooking facilities but continental breakfast provided. Great views, ideal for walkers, cyclists, twitchers and garden enthusiasts. Mobile reception and wifi intermittent but available from house.
The accommodation is spacious and airy and has a beautiful outlook on the orchard and wooded valley. It is peaceful without traffic noise or light pollution. The valley has numerous birds and wonderful birdsong including owl calls by night.
The barn is set in a beautiful garden in a private valley in the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are many wonderful walking and cycling tracks from the door. The Cotley Inn is an excellent pub within easy walking distance. Half an hour's drive will take you to beautiful sections of the SW Coastal Path; other local attractions include Forde Abbey, Beer Caves, Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast.
  • Stayed here for two days on business and was totally blown away by how much of a beautiful oasis of calm and serenity this is. Such a stunningly beautiful spot. The barn is lovely, clean and has some amazing views out towards the countryside. The sounds of local wildlife and trickling water from the stream in the garden is a perfect tonic to the booze I am used to in London. Be sure to go and visit Ben and Maddie at the local pub The Cotley Inn...wonderful country pub, lovely people, lovely food and brilliant wine list. Can’t wait to come back.

  • Stunning place to stay with amazingly helpful and welcoming hosts - the barn and garden grounds are beautiful and breakfast was always looked forward to - would highly recommend

    Derwyn2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Penny and Robert were the kindest, most attentive hosts imaginable. We were warmly welcomed by them and immediately offered an array of weather-appropriate suggestions that only the most knowledgeable locals can give. Were it not for them, it is unlikely we would have decided to walk from Beer to Branscombe on the sunniest day of our stay or visited Fordde Abbey, both immensely enjoyable activities. Beyond the upholding the utmost standard for comfort, the guests' barn and Shaggs Flood as a whole denoted the best of British tradition and taste. A huge thank you to both!

    Inés2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable peaceful and welcoming room with flowers from the garden. Bed exceptionally comfortable; great shower and facilities and a delicious breakfast that hit the spot. The house and gardens are beautiful and were a delight to wake up to. Lovely walk to country pub for a good dinner. Penny and Robert were considerate hosts who made us feel welcomed and at home. We would highly recommend a visit. Amanda and Simon W

  • A wonderful and idyllic location to relax and expore the surronding areas of Dorset and Devon. Penny and Robert are wonderful hosts. It is the best AirBnB location we have stayed in. We will thoroughly recommend this to any of our friends which may want to explore this lovely area of England.

    Steve2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Penny and Robert are the most fantastic hosts. The barn is perfect and the pub is only a stone's throw away! Waking up in the morning looking out onto the hills that surround the house is just magical. Couldn't reccomend this place enough!

    Leanne2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect! What more can we say?!?! Utterly beautiful location and accommodation but hospitality that comes second to none. Thank you so much for such a relaxing and refreshing few days, and for making us feel so incredibly welcome. We most definitely WILL return. Glyn & Anne x

    Glyn2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Penny and Robert are super friendly people. They live very close to the barn in a beautiful thatched cottage, and were always available whenever we needed anything - they made us feel very welcomed. The barn room where we stayed is very stylish, comfortable and spacious...and it's SO quiet, all you can hear is birdsong all day and night! The breakfasts were delicious and filling, delivered to the barn each morning. This b&b is a great option if you'd like to stay in a beautiful countryside location and are planning to go hiking around woodlands and fields, or even the Devon coast. Oh, and make sure you go to the Cotley Inn, a pub that is a 15 minute walk from the barn, not to be missed!

Detached house in private lane, tucked away in the lovely rural village of Bishopswood, set amongst the glorious hills of the Blackdowns. Far reaching views across the countryside with large garden and separate summer room to make the most of the peace and quiet. Cosy home, perfect for family and friends to get away from it all.
Our much loved cosy house has been recently renovated to make a light, relaxed and welcoming home. Nights in by the log fire are the perfect end to days exploring the lovely countryside around us.
Nestled on the outskirts of a quiet village in a little known Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). There are fantastic local walks all around us in the Blackdown Hills, plenty of choice to suit all. Our favourite walk finishes at The Candlelight Inn, our award winning local pub - just 5 minutes stroll down the hill - fantastic food and welcome guaranteed. Only 35 minutes to the coast at Lyme Regis & Charmouth if you're in the mood for a beach day, 40 minutes to Exeter for a brilliant days shopping and only an hour from Dartmoor or Exmoor for some rugged countryside. A perfect central location to explore the West Country.
  • The Poplars is a lovely cosy, home. Six of us stayed very comfortably. Yvette is very generous providing plenty of amenities that made our stay perfect. The house is clean modernly decorated, with the added comfort of a log fire. The location is great, with excellent pubs in short and long walking distance, and a short car journey away. We particularly enjoyed our New Year's Day lunch at the Cotley Inn, after a misty drive down a long country lane. I would recommend staying at Yvette's to anybody looking for a lovely country break, but with all the modern comforts of walk in showers, Netflix, and pubs and shops close by.

The house was perfect for our family of four and 1 dog, with plenty of walks on the doorstep and only 30min drive to the Jurassic coast. Welcome to our bright, light and airy self-contained barn conversion – a perfect rural retreat for two, set in the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in beautiful East Devon. With 'reverse living' accommodation, there is a full kitchen and lovely living space upstairs, with a double bedroom and bathroom downstairs. If you like it rural, with stunning views, dark skies for stargazing and traditional Devon lanes for exploring, then this is the place for you!
Situated in the small, rural hamlet of Heathstock and surrounded by farmland and beautiful views, we are a 25-minute drive from the Jurassic Coast, with Lyme Regis, Beer, Branscombe, Seaton and Sidmouth all within easy reach. The Barn is totally separate and self-contained, next door to the owners’ property. It is tastefully decorated and has reverse-living accommodation, with kitchen and living space upstairs, and a double bedroom and bathroom downstairs. We are in a very rural location and is accessed via narrow lanes. We live next to a working dairy farm and so you may occasionally find cows walking past the front door!
  • Great little renovated barn in the east Devon area... also a really lovely pub down the road called the tuckers arms and not far from Exeter, Taunton etc and the beach! Claire was very quick at replying and the check in was extremely easy even though we were arriving late. Lovely space and all the facilities you would need for a country break. Very clean throughout too and they surprised us with some delicious home made brownies on arrival!

  • Great place to stay, sparkling clean and very cosy with lovely views across the fields. Very peaceful and quiet location with the Jurassic coastline nearby. Claire is a great host and made us feel very welcome. Oh and the chocolate and cherry brownies were delicious! I would definitely recommend as a place to stay.

  • Claire was very helpful and forthcoming with information prior to our arrival and throughout our stay. As mentioned by others the plate of brownies were delicious!! The space itself was very clean and stylish. Having the kitchen was a great addition as you are quite remote. Would definitely recommend staying here.

  • This cottage is truly amazing and exceeds all expectations. Lived up to the photos and some great touches from a fabulous welcome basket and no limit on logs we could use. We were both blown away by it and would recommend anyone to stay there. It is quirky, charming and beautifully decorated - with the luxury of underfloor heating in the bathroom. Also great hosts - which always helps! We’ll be back next year when the local pub opens...

  • Absolute perfect stay! Cottage was stunning in every single way, and so many lovely touches to make it a wonderful weekend getaway! A modern static caravan at the top of our Farmhouse garden overlooking open countryside. You will have your own entrance and parking. Should you need us during your stay someone is always on the farm. If you like walking there are many footpaths over our farm leading to Hawkchurch or Axminster. There is also a cycle path at the bottom of our road - Weycroft Mill. We are a 15-20 minute drive from the Jurassic coastline of Lyme Regis & Seaton. There are many pubs & restaurants we can recommend.
We live down a private stone track that is 1/2 a mile long and uneven so we would advise you to drive very slowly
Axminster has many coffee shops, pubs & shops. Also a varied selection of places to eat - Chinese, Indian, pizza, fish & chips and even a community waffle shop.
  • Talk about value for money - we had a wonderful stay, made all the more special with the homemade cake on arrival and delicious gooseberry jam! Fantastic rural location and just 20 mins drive to the gorgeous Lyme Regis. I must say our stay was completely transformed by the log burner - we were given enough wood to keep it lit throughout our stay, and it added a really lovely cosy feel to the caravan. There's a TV, but we didn't use it - the views across the fields were entertaining enough. Definitely recommend. Get booking!

  • Elizabeth greeted us with a warm welcome and showed us outstanding hospitality. She has made us scones with jam and clotted cream and fresh milk! She already had the log burner and left us hot water bottles on the bed. She even offered to pick us up from the local pub. Overall it was a beautiful stay and we will be back.

  • It was such a pleasure staying at this beautiful barn conversion on Sue and James' farm. A very warm welcome, helpful and friendly, we even got to feed and put the chickens to bed (and they produced eggs for our breakfasts)! Very warm in a fairly mild mid-winter with a stylish wood burner. Spacious modern shower. Location was very peaceful and quiet, with very few vehicles passing along the small country lane, a couple of excellent nearby pubs and only about 25 minutes drive down to Lyme Regis. Highly recommended.

  • What a beautiful place in a great location to relax and unwind! With Pamela and Peter's hospitality to remember, fresh lemon drizzle, scones with cream and jam and lovely decorated cupcakes for the little ones!! What else can't I say? The log cabin has everything you need, very clean and with very comfortable and warm beds. I wish we had more time to stay in the garden and enjoy the fields around.

  • A lovely place to stay. The cabin is beautifully presented, warm and comfortable. Surroundings are lovely, and our stay was very peaceful. We also loved Pamela's delicious homebaked treats! The cabin is a perfect base for walking and we should definitely have booked more than 2 nights!

  • This was our second visit to The Log Cabin and once again we were made so welcome. The cabin has every home comfort and is in the most beautiful and peaceful place. The welcome package was wonderful. We will definitely go back! Thank you both so much.

  • Pamela's lodge is expertly equipped with thoughtful touches (there are 2 umbrellas just in case!) The welcome hamper was more than adequate and the children were thrilled with their special cakes. We had a wonderful time exploring the Area of Natural Beauty and beyond. It was the perfect base to come back to with an easy to light log burner if needed. Really cosy. Will be recommending our first ever Airbnb to our friends and family!

    Rachel2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay from meeting Pamela, the welcome hamper (which included delicious scones and to-die-for lemon drizzle cake), quick responses to any questions or requests for logs, the toasty log fire and the wonderful location. The dacha was spotlessly clean and a really peaceful place to stay. Sorry our visit was only two nights. Hope to return another time for longer.

  • We booked this place as we were having dinner at River Cottage. Carlo was very helpful in giving us local tips and taxi numbers. Communication was excellent and he responded very quickly to emails. He also accommodated my fussy dietary needs for breakfast! The place is beautiful- surrounded by lovely countryside, quiet and peaceful, comfy bed, and well equipped with a fridge, kettle, plenty of space, and a clean bathroom. Definitely recommend staying here. If we were here longer we would have made the most of Carlo’s local knowledge and walk recommendations.

  • Hidden gem doesn’t begin to describe this place: if you’re headed to Devon, this is where you want to stay. Homey, full of extra little touches; sparkling clean, fully stocked; so comfortable and in a beautiful spot. I didn’t get a chance to explore as I was down for a specific purpose but there were loads of suggestions on what’s around locally, plus access to the pool (which was also very clean and I had allotted times all to myself!) was a wonderful bonus. Excellent communication including directions (read them thoroughly because they are spot on!); my only regret is I only booked one night! If I’m ever back in Devon in the future, this is where I will stay - though I half expect it will be booked till 2050 once people realise how brilliant it is!

    Bea2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our relaxing weekend in this cosy bolt hole - exactly what we were looking for! The cottage is really homely, well equipped and just a nice to place to be - especially important on a cold wet February weekend! Thanks very much for having us!

    Dom2020-02-24T00:00:00Z

  • An outstanding stay in east Devon, very cosy, quiet and relaxing. Host very quick to respond and well equipped.

  • Mallow Cottage is a great find. The location is very convenient for the A303 / A30, Blackdown Hills and East Devon in general. The current photos don’t do the furnishings or decor justice. There are lots of thoughtful decorative touches that make it obvious that this is really a home away from home and not just a holiday let. The hosts were very communicative and helpful. We look forward to visiting again!

    Chris2018-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful little cottage in a rural setting that feels like home. I am looking forward to when I come back next and stay again.

  • This cottage is a great place to stay. Spotlessly clean and a warm welcome of a bottle of wine and some biscuits. The kitchen is very well equipped. Just a beautiful part of the country...so peaceful.

  • The cottage is a delight. Good space, comfortable, set with others around a flowery garden in a quiet quadrangle in the middle of trees, fields and sheep! Well positioned for exploration of Dorset, Devon and Somerset. I stayed for two weeks (working on a novel) and had only good days. Yes, the lane to it is nightmarish, but the cottage itself is a dream and I hope to return. Thanks Charlie and Annemarie. You have a little gem on your hands!

With beautiful views south across the picturesque valley, our small garden overlooks Forde Abbey, with views of the magnificent avenue of trees, and the highest powered fountain in the country. Our cottage has been converted with the intention of creating a luxurious and peaceful space. The kirami wood fired hot tub has to be experienced to be fully appreciated in this amazing setting.
Step into the cottage for an experience of luxury and comfort. The open plan living area boasts a custom built and locally sourced wooden four poster super king bed, a reading corner next to the electric flame effect fireplace and a small dining area to look out onto the landscape and surrounding acres of woodlands and fields. The wood fired Scandi fresh water hot tub is perfect for a couple to enjoy whilst observing the surroundings or star gazing at night. Our overall goal is to leave guests in peace. We believe we have everything in place for guests to enjoy their stay. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooking essentials, nespresso machine and a fridge freezer. The Shower room has a walk in shower, heated towel rail and heated mirror to avoid it steaming up. Of course on top of this is the view towards Forde Abbey, Chard. Perfect for a romantic stay should you be visiting there for a wedding. Just to let you know you will need to travel by car. We do have an electric car charging point should you need to use this but only with prior arrangement.
This is a rural setting, but a short drive and you can get to the town of Chard for supermarkets and shops. Easy access to the A303, Exeter, Jurassic Coast or the M5 J25 Taunton.

A charming characterful cottage nestled in the heart of the beautiful rolling Blackdown Hills. Ferndale Cottage is a real rural retreat yet only a short drive away from the stunning Devon and Dorset Jurassic Coast. Set in the heart of Stockland - a sleepy and tranquil Devon village where peace is broken only by birdsong and church bells.
The cottage has recently been fully refurbished and has all the amenities to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Fully equipped with TV, DVD, DAB radio and free Wifi. The TV also allows streaming services so don't forget your Netflix and Amazon Prime logons. Located on the ground floor is a good sized beamed lounge/dining room; this leads down to a galley kitchen containing all the appliances for modern living including electric cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Off the kitchen is a downstairs cloakroom where there is also a handy washing machine. In the winter the eco air source central heating complemented by an inviting woodburner, makes for cosy nights in. The warmer summer months can be enjoyed outside where there is a decked area with steps leading down to a patio courtyard. Over a little bridge spanning the stream (don't forget a game of pooh sticks!) is a lovely long south facing lawned area.
  • What a wonderful, tranquil space. The cottage is absolutely perfect; peaceful, cosy, pub literally over the road, pretty garden and decorated to a very high standard. We loved every minute of our stay :)

    Karen2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Ferndale cottage is beautifully presented, a perfect space for our weekend away. The garden is pretty, with a bridge over the stream which runs through the garden. The cottage itself is warm and cosy, with everything you could need for a holiday. Alison was always quick to communicate with us and her recommendation of The Kings Arms was much appreciated. We loved our stay here and hope to return soon.

    Jaime2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We have had a lovely family Christmas break at Ferndale Cottage. The area is beautiful and the cottage was so cozy and comfortable. Ali was in contact before we arrived and during our stay to let us know that we could arrive earlier and leave later than the usual times which was very much appreciated as was the mulled wine and mince pies! We will definitely be back!

    Sarah2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage with comfy sofas, well equipped kitchen, lovely colours and good heating! All was perfect. It's in a quite little place called Stockland and we tried two different pubs whilst in the area that were only 2miles down the road in either direction. Cottage has a lovely bit of garden to it with a little bridge over a small stream to get to. You can hear the owls and birds, just gorgeous. Would stay again!

    Kat2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stylish cottage warm and cosy. Very quiet in a village.

    Alison And Graham2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Another fantastic stay in Stockland - we will definitely be coming back again! Great space, beautiful location & friendly owners

    Thomas2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in a lovely village, and met all our expectations. Outside space is great with a decking area just outside the kitchen which catches the sun all day, and a very pretty garden reached by a wooden bridge over a tiny stream. Inside it was very light with nice furnishings, and very clean. The pub opposite the cottage has been bought by the community and is due to reopen by the end of the year, should be a great asset!

    Steve2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Alison's cottage in Stockland is a fantastic place to stop. Just get there and stop. Relax in the beautiful garden. Take a leisurely stroll along the lanes. But also a great hub to explore. All I would say is that if you are taller than 5'11", make sure you keep in mind that this is a cottage. I came home with a couple lumps on my head that weren't there before. But they were worth it!

Broom with a View is a one-bedroom ground floor apartment within Lower Tytherleigh Farmhouse. It has its own entrance, living/dining room with mini kitchen, as well as a lovely outdoor terrace and great views. Perfect for a couple's romantic getaway or for a truly comfortable business trip stop off. Award-winning pub/restaurant (2 mins walking), SW Rail Axminster (10 mins by car), trains to Exeter (40 mins)/London Waterloo (2hrs 50mins), A303 (25 mins by car), Exeter (50 mins by car).
Broom with a View is a self-contained attached annex within Lower Tytherleigh Farm on the borders of East Devon and West Dorset. As the name suggests there are incredible far-reaching views across the countryside. Broom with a View has it's own private entrance and features a relaxing bedroom with king size bed, a separate living/dining space with a mini kitchen with hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher, and plenty of original features. Guests also have their own spacious bathroom with bath and walk in shower as well as guest amenities (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and soap) from Botaniks. Broom with a View has all the modern technology and appliances you’ll need including dedicated wifi and Smart TV with integrated DVD player and lots of DVDs. For more old-fashioned pursuits, there are a selection of books you're welcome to borrow while you're staying here, as well as backgammon and board games. The kitchen is fully equipped with (hopefully) everything you might need including pots and pans, plates, glasses, mugs, cutlery, kitchen utensils and a corkscrew of course! You'll be welcomed with a starter package of fair trade teas, coffees and biscuits as well as milk, cereal, bread, butter and jam. For stays of three nights or longer, we'll reward you with a bottle of prosecco or wine (or beer or cider depending on your preference). We'll even make sure you've got ice cubes in the freezer! There is a resident dachshund living in the main house and he is a notoriously curious chap who will proabably come and visit you at some point so unfortunately we don't allow visiting dogs at the moment. If dark skies and star-spotting are your thing, you'll really enjoy staying here as at night, there is barely another light to be seen. If you ask nicely, you can borrow the telescope - you'll probably know more about how it works than me! We'll make sure the bird feeders are full so keep your eyes open for the huge variety of birds that fly around here including greater spotted woodpeckers, collared doves, nuthatches, chaffinches, our shy green woodpecker and resident buzzards as well as the annual visits from swallows and swifts. You have access to your own terrace sheltered by a veranda and equipped with a comfortable seating/dining area and outside lighting. You are welcome to walk around the garden and the adjoining paddock and field (as long as there is no livestock at the time). At the bottom of the garden there is a Gym Shed which you are free to use. It is equipped with an exercise bike and a Reebok running machine as well as lighting, a heater and bluetooth speaker. There are some public footpaths and bridleways a short stroll away and more within a short drive by car.
We have an award-winning pub/restaurant, The Tytherleigh Arms, within walking distance, and a local shop with newspapers, groceries and household staples just two minutes in the car up the road in Chardstock (where there is another great pub, The George). The local town of Axminster is only ten minutes away where you'll find Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage Canteen, the newly-rennovated George Hotel, some great independent coffee shops like The Higgler and the Arts Cafe, and a variety of other independent shops as well as Tesco and two Co-ops, Miller's Farm Shop, petrol garage and of course, the famous Axminster Carpet factory outlet shop. If you don't want to eat out but would prefer not to cook, both Axminster indian restaurants (Safar and Cinnamon) will deliver to here (ask them to come to Lower Tytherleigh Farm as Brooom with a View isn't on google maps!). There is a fantastic fish and chip shop in Axminster (Lemon Plaice) and a great chinese (Golden House), both of which will take your order over the phone so it's ready for you to whizz in and collect it. There is also a Dominos Pizza in Chard about ten minutes away in the car.
  • Beverley was so attentive and thoughtful during the booking process and this continued when we arrived, although she was also discreet and respectful of our privacy. Kind of perfect! And the Broom with a View was a lovely place to hunker down and retreat from the world for 24 hours. Great kitchen and amenities, beautiful big bed and a bath to soak in. We ate in the Tytherleigh Arms which is an upmarket pub with delicious food. Thank you Beverley

  • What an amazing place to stay! We couldn't of asked for more! Fantastic host, beautiful accommodation, the most comfortable bed and so clean. The shower was amazing and the flowers, chocolate and bottle of prosecco were much appreciated and such a lovely thought. We will certainly be back, thank you Beverley ☺️

    Lucy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Simply exquisit! Broom With A View is conceived to perfection. Every detail has been considered for your comfort; it was pure bliss staying here. To top it off, Beverly is a superb host. She went out of her way to add personal touches (specific to us), and even offered to let us stay another night for free so we didn't have to drive through storm Ciara - such a lovely, humane gesture. I'm not sure how supehosts qualify on AirBnB, but Beverly should be one! To note, Beverly was available, but also respectful of our privacy. I would highly recommend staying at Broom With A View.

  • Beautiful views over the valley on a sunny day. On a cloudy day still lovely just can’t see as far. Easy location for River Cottage in Axminster 15 minutes away, Lyme Regis 20 minutes which had lovely seaside shops and a museum. Seaton is another lovely town close by. Great amenities and comfortable cosy place to stay. The Tytherleigh pub has amazing 😉 food 🥘 you can walk there is 10 minutes and torches and high vis jackets 🧥 are available for night time adventures. Lovely walks information available on local places of interest.

  • A Broomwithaview is so amazing I’m reluctant to give a review in case this secret spot becomes so popular I will not be able to return. I would’ve stayed here just for the shower and the dreamy bed however these were overshadowed by the view. From sunrise to sunset you’ll be truly amazed. This is the perfect spot for bird spotting, soul searching and recharging.

  • A lovely cottage in the Blackdown hills. Just outside the village, really nice and cosy in the winter. Leigh and Nick couldn't have been more helpful.

  • Fabulous cottage! We were delighted with everything about this place. It was warm and welcoming and had everything we needed for our short break. Leigh was welcoming and helpful and the cottage was full of local information. Terrific to be so close to the lamas and hens. Super country walks for our little dog. Well stocked local shop. Pretty perfect place!!

    Joanna2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was beautifully styled, comfortable and cosy. Leigh and Nick provide little touches that made us feel really welcome - fresh eggs from the chickens, a vase of flowers, afternoon tea and even a special treat for our dog. We loved meeting the llamas and chickens. The local village and pub was a short walk down the road despite feeling like we were miles from anywhere. It was a short drive to Lyme Regis and loads of other attractions around the area. Overall, we’re really happy to have stayed here.

    Sally2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Leigh’s place was perfect for my work trip to Chard. The cottage is comfortable, clean, stylish and freshly decorated, with a fully kitted kitchen and everything else you could possibly need. • Great cottage, beautifully clean and well presented with a friendly and helpful host.

    Alexandra2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Leigh and Nick’s place is a cosy modern cottage. We loved our stay while working in Somerset for a couple of days. Wish we’d had time to stay longer. We’d definitely recommend it.

  • We had a great weekend and will be recommending this lovely cottage to friends. The place was just like the pictures - a beautiful modern country feel - and there was excellent communication. Leigh put a cot up for our littlest one and there were other extra touches that made is feel very welcomed. Great location and our kids loved feeding the llamas.

  • The house is fantastic, very clean indeed. I had three work colleagues staying and they loved it. Sally even made a cake for them. Booked again already

    Duncan2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved the lodge, it was clean, cozy and spacious, just perfect. Sally made us feel very welcome and the wine and homemade cake were a nice extra touch. Highly recommend as a good base for exploring the area.

  • Great house in a beautiful, secluded location. Great space to unwind

    Simon2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house is large and spacious for a family of 3. I enjoyed cooking in the fully equipped kitchen while my wife and 8 year old daughter played board games and watched Tv in the living space. The location was great for visiting the Jurassic coast. A shame the weather was bad but we loved hiding for the afternoon in Hazel lodge anyway!

    Peter2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sally’s place was excellent. As described and a great spot from which to explore the local area. Sally was a lovely host, friendly and quick to respond to any of our queries.

    David2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is the ideal place to stay whatever your needs. Sally has produced an information guide which we all agreed was the best we had seen. This meant we were able to make the best of our stay even though we were hit with the strongest storm for seven years. We certainly hope to visit again.

    Derek2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Sally is a great host and it's a beautiful space. We visited for the weekend to visit family so the location was perfect. We had our young son and our dog, so they kindly made a cake and provided a bottle of wine. The extra touches we're lovely, as will definitely be back.

    Jason2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay, perfect space upstairs and downstairs (huge) and fully enclosed garden so our dog could roam. Perfect location for visiting the coast. Sally was a great host, even left us a gorgeous homemade chocolate cake. 100% recommend.
