Stroll through the beautiful Port Meadow area along the River Thames and head into the center of Oxford just minutes away by bus. Based on the Woodstock Road access to Oxford City Centre is easy via the regular buses which stop directly outside the property. To walk, the town centre is 1.2 miles and takes approximately 20 minutes. Taxi's come quickly and cost about £5. We recommend 001 Taxis. Summertown and all its amenities are very close and easily accessible on foot. We are well place for a trip to the very popular Bicester Village Outlet Centre or adventures in the Cotswolds including Blenheim Palace, buses run regularly from the Woodstock and Banbury Roads. TRAVEL / PARKING TRAIN Trains to Oxford from London leave from both London Paddington and London Marylebone. Two stations serve the town; Oxford Town and Oxford Parkway. If you arrive at Oxford Town the S3 bus (Stop R5) will bring you directly to the apartment. Busses leave on the hour and every 20 minutes in the day. Get off at Beech Croft Road - we are directly opposite the stop. If you arrive at Oxford Parkway there are regular buses to the Banbury road (one block away), or about £9 in a taxi. Personally we prefer the new Marylebone train and get off at Parkway. BUS The 'Oxford Tube' or 'C90' provide an excellent bus service, every 10 minutes, day and night, to and from London and is cheaper than the train - about £12 return. The quickest way to the apartment is to get off at Thornhill and take a taxi (book taxi from bus, 001 or A1 Taxies are good). Alternatively you can stay on the bus into town, Gloucester Green, and then get a bus up the Woodstock Road (book this exrtra bus ticket when you book your Oxford Tube ticket and they'll include it in the price). PARKING Parking in Oxford is extremely difficult. For small/medium cars we can make parking at the property available via prior arrangement. Alternatively we can give you local parking permits. Free overnight parking is available at the top of Bainton Road (opposite) from 2pm to 10am Mon-Sat and all day on Sunday.

Pondside Barn

A beautiful and character 2 bed converted barn overlooking its own private pond and deck. With a large and open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen there is plenty of space to enjoy the beautiful Wittenham countryside. Pondside Barn comes fully equipped for 6 guests with hob and oven, dishwasher, microwave, nespresso machine, washing machine/tumble drier, fridge and freezer. In addition it also has super fast internet and a 42 inch smart TV with sound bar. Upstairs there are two spacious bedrooms. One has a king size bed and the other has a king size bed and two single beds. The bathroom comes with a full sized P shape bath with shower over, heated towel rail, vanity sink and toilet. There is space for working and relaxing. The outdoor deck overlooks the beautiful pond (with resident Moor Hen family) and comes with a table and chairs for 6 allowing a great area for outdoor dining and enjoyment. A large BBQ is also available and a fully lit canopy over the deck ensures a great space to enjoy the evening. Pondside Barn comes fully equipped for up to six guests with bedlinen, towels, toiletries and refreshments available to ensure you enjoy your stay. Included for you in your stay is a Nespresso coffee machine with a selection of pods together with a cafetiere and fresh coffee. Tea, milk, sugar and olive oil etc is also there for you. Pondside is also equipped with luxury East of Eden toiletries including Lemon Blossom and Bergamot Shampoo together with Grapefruit and Sweet Orange Shower Gel. Handwashes are also available. The Barn is situated in 4 acres of gardens close to the Thames side village of Long Wittenham and close to the renowned Wittenham Clumps. Late checkouts until midday are also available at a charge of £25. Payment is taken at the time of booking, but an honesty jar is available for bookings via Airbnb or Booking.com Well behaved pets are very welcome and there is a fee of £15 per pet per night. If booked directly this is paid at the time of booking, but an honesty jar is used if booked via Airbnb or Booking.com. They are very welcome to stretch their legs in the shared garden. There is a woodburner available, in addition to the central heating in the barn and we would advise guests to bring some logs if they wish to have a fire. Many local walks are available and you are close to the local amenities in Wallingford, Dorchester and Clifton Hampden all linked by the Thames. Oxford centre is only 15 minutes away. Parking for several cars is available adjacent to Pondside Barn. Didcot Parkway station is less than ten minutes away and less than 40 minutes from London Paddington. Transfer to the station can be arranged.

As Wallingford is the last home of the 'Queen of Crime' Agatha Christie, we have themed our bijoux cottage apartment in memory of her. The ground floor apartment is styled in a modern version of 'Art Deco' as depicted in many of her books and films. You'll find artwork that are clues to names of her books, as well as an antique typewriter, telephone, camera, magnifying glass and other curiosities to delight and intrigue. The apartment has two bedrooms, the master bedroom is ideal for a couple and the second room for one person, or a child, or two small children. There is an open plan living and kitchen area overlooking the small walled garden. In the living room we have a fireplace with a lovely wood burning effect stove, a large three seater velvet sofa, breakfast bar, Echo Dot (speaker) and a large TV with Netflix & Amazon Prime on as well as terrestrial channels. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a storm, even a tea pot if you decide to invite over Miss Marple. The kitchen is well equipped with a washer dryer, large fridge freezer, toastie maker, spices, kettle, toaster, Nespresso machine and plenty of storage space. Our beds are hotel standard and we have made the beds with 400 count cotton bed linen. For those that suffer with allergies our duvets and pillows are made from luxurious Microfibre which feels ‘Just like Down’. We've recently installed new double glazed windows as well as black out curtains as we know how important a good nights sleep is. Although we stated two double beds, to be clear one is bed is a small double bed. Our Art Deco styled bathroom, has a walk-in shower with a big rain shower head as well as a held shower. And large soft cotton towels. The small garden has a couple of chairs and a table.
