Waterfront holiday rentals in Bowness-on-Windermere

Perfect location. Amazing views. Everything as advertised. We loved walking down the beach ( 10 mins ) to the local restaurants and bakery and using it as a base for hikes.

A nice little house just a short walk from the beach, we enjoyed our stay. Chris was very clear and helpful on how to find the house, and was flexible on check-in logistics and even spoke to me on the phone beforehand to get things figured out because we weren't sure what time we would be arriving. Definitely recommended, and grab a breakfast at the little cafe down the road.

I had a fantastic stay at this apartment. The view was absolutely stunning—perfect for a peaceful, romantic getaway. The space itself is cosy and clean, making it feel like a true home away from home. The host was incredibly accommodating and flexible and really fast at responding, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet, intimate place to relax.

The Newby Bridge River House is a charming place with a beautiful view of the river and the Swan Hotel. We loved seeing the ducks and geese. It was convenient to the bus stop and to a trail that runs up to Windermere where we caught a ferry to go further up the lake. The property is clean, cozy, and has everything you need. Andrew is an excellent host.

Incredible location, lovely place, super comfy beds, very peaceful, super clean, lake access, away from the bustling Lake District tourism but close enough when we needed it. Sally was helpful and responsive. The best Air BnB experience I’ve ever had. Worth every penny!

Awesome location with stunning views across the rooftops and lake Windermere in the distance. Perfect for being right in the heart of Windermere town centre and with its own parking space. Thought it may be noisy being above the Italian restaurant, but not at all and the double glazing is really effective if you want to escape the hustle and bustle. Great eateries and amenities right outside the door. Would have enjoyed a more comfy sofa and few softer furnishings but that’s more to our taste. The bed was the comfiest we’ve ever had in an AirBnB. Very clean with great instructions, hassle free. Would defo stay again.

Warm, clean & comfortable little cottage with everything that we needed. Ideal location for the town and surrounding area, however we did underestimate how busy the road would be at night.

Great last minute break away. In a great spot easy to walk into town and the lake. The living space is beautiful and plenty of room for all of us. Overall a lovely home to stay in

Fantastic stay with dear friends in Ambleside. The house was beautiful, the beds were comfy, the hot tub was great, and it was only a two minute walk to the shops in Ambleside. Perfect weekend and we would all come back. Highly recommend.

A well loved and super clean cottage in a surprisingly quiet part of Arnside. The garden is a little gem after a long day out in good weather. Thoroughly recommend and friends say I’m pretty fussy.

We stayed here for my girlfriends birthday with our dog. The house is absolutely stunning and very large - the photos don’t even do it justice! Iain and Louise were very responsive, beds were incredibly comfortable and we very much enjoyed the beautiful village setting. We would love to visit again!

This place exceeded our expectations. Immaculate, spacious, great location. Although it was bank holiday weekend it was so peaceful in the boathouse yet very close to the town. We loved it - a great place to meet up with friends!

Really comfortable cottage, very well equipped in a great location. Easy to get to local attractions and great walks from the door. Close enough to visit the lakes but far enough away from hustle and bustle. Would definitely recommend.

A beautiful house in a lovely setting, great for family get togethers, location right on the lake was amazing, & easy access to lovely local town of Glenridding for essentials. Wide range of facilities at the cottage, we really enjoyed the private outdoor eating area next with the wood fired outdoor grill. Very nice well appointed kitchen with quality appliances, bathrooms clean and with quality fittings. Outside garden/woodland area was perfect for us and our dog, although the many steps and steep paths would not suit everyone, but this factor is clearly explained in the information host provides. We found some rooms a little dark, especially on a rainy day but there are some lovely lamps which can be moved around if required. Overall I would recommend this cottage as a great place to stay & enjoy the lake district and all it has to offer.

We loved it. It was perfectly located for what we wanted to do, the view was amazing from the Patio breakfast and drinks. We were unbelievably lucky with the weather for late September, and didn’t need all the woollens that we had taken. It’s a steep hill to get to the place from the town, but very quickly got used to it. Overall. Super super happy with the place and if we come back to the lakes we would choose to come back here. (For the owners - many apologies for the broken glass, meant to replace but ran out of time).

Great location for us visiting family. Would be good for walkers /bird watchers etc as good coastal access . Lovely view from main living area.

The house itself was spotless, and it was evident that Lee had thought of everything to ensure a comfortable stay. Lee was always responsible and a friendly host. Our week in this lovely apartment sped by too quickly! It was beautifully decorated with cosy lounges and chairs and very comfortable beds. The kitchen had more than we needed and all appliances were easy to use. The location was faultless - everywhere was so accessible from here! Pubs, cafes and restaurants were just across the road - where we headed after long hikes each day. We felt very sad to leave and look forward to returning one day soon 👍👋❤️

Jack's place was great for what we needed; lots of space, good kitchen, near lots of places to eat, the beach and prom. Really good value for what you get. Jack sent really clear instructions too which was really helpful.

Lovely and spacious apartment fully equipped for our weekend away. Perfect combination of rustic and modern aesthetic. Kitchen was fully suited for all cooking needs. Bathrooms and all other areas were spotless. living room was a cozy place to chill with plenty of space. Location is perfect as right in the heart of Kendal with nearby shops and restaurants if needed. It was easy to travel to anywhere in the Lake District from here. Check-in was very straightforward.

Lovely peaceful place, perfect for exploring the local area. The cottage was great and had everything I needed. Margaret even left a pint of milk on the doorstep for when I arrived. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family 😊

This is such a lovely place, it felt like home from home, had everything we needed, clean and comfy. Such a beautiful area, lovely walks from the house, and Grasmere is lovely too. We will definitely be back.
