The area also received pingos as a gift from the Ice Age. Located in the middle of 2 national parks: Lauwersmeer and the Alde Feannen. Ideal cycling and hiking area.

Stay in the 125-year-old Wierums Hûske just 50 meters from the sea dike. Visit the Waddenzee and go in search of the seals, come mudflat walking, go bird watching in Lauwersoog, a day of shopping in Dokkum or Leeuwarden, cross over to the Wadden Islands, take a hike or go cycling in the area.
