Cottage holiday rentals in Gloucester County

We loved out time at this Bayside home. My boys spent outside upon hours at the little private beach, where the water doesn't really get deep for quite a ways and the waves were never very rough. it was perfect for them. we all enjoyed the hot tub, kayaks, comfortable beds. My personal favorite was the hammock right by the water, listening to nothing but the waves and the calls of the ospreys that made the area their home. Forget the overly built up touristy areas and give this place a try. You will not regret it.

Our stay in this home was such a treat! We enjoyed utilizing the kayaks to boat around in Chesapeake Bay. The hot tub was an absolute delight, perfect for evening stargazing, saw lots of shooting stars, and could see the water of the bay from the hot tub. We also enjoyed doing November cold plunges from the hot tub to the pool. While the living room is not expansive, it fit our needs for family game & movie nights. The bed linens were so comfortable, and Lori was beautifully responsive & friendly when we would reach out with a question. We also enjoyed the nearby Sandy beaches.

We had a relaxing weekend stay at Dave and Melissa’s place. The views from the screened in porch were beautiful. The surrounding area had a mix of older and newer properties. The little beach was nice. Overall a great place if you are looking for a quiet place to escape to.

We had a great time staying here! Clean, modern, fully stocked home just as described in the listing and photos. The sunsets over the water are indescribable. Relaxing hot tub, wonderful outdoor space, lovely campfires, and comfortable bed and bath rooms made our trip stress free and extremely enjoyable. We barely left the property - we felt right at home. Our point of contact host, Ana, was very responsive and communicative. Would definitely recommend! Look forward to booking again in the future! Thank you for a vibey holiday weekend!

We loved staying here! The location was great and it was roomy. Super close to the beach, great outdoor amenities, and a nice porch. Host was quick to respond. We pretty much had the beach to ourselves, it was like a private getaway! There were a few cons: very noisy upstairs guests (I know this can’t be helped, but it was bad,) the parking spaces were EXTREMELY tight and one of the guests kept parking in 2 spaces instead of one. There was a narrow gravel driveway offered, but if someone parked behind you then you couldn’t leave. The WiFi wasn’t strong enough to watch tv, we had to keep pausing it so it would load a little. All in all it was a great deal and would definitely stay here again!

Enjoyed the stay. Comfy beds with wonderful cotton linens. Cute interior. Nice, quiet off season experience. John’s recommendations for smaller local favorite restaurants were good choices. Nearby recreation centers offer day passes and lots of indoor activities for cold or rainy days. Just right for our family trip. Highly recommend.

This was our 1st visit to The Crab Shack. All I can say is Wow, just Wow! This was the cleanest, nicest and cutest Airbnb that we have ever stayed at over the years! It was amazing! My husband and I traveled from Sarver, PA with our 2 Golden Retrievers to celebrate our 10 year Wedding Anniversary! We all had the best time ever! We spent most of the time here at the Shack just cooking on the grill and listening to music and the girls did a lot of swimming fetching for balls! Thank you Carlisle and Mary for making our 10 year Anniversary simply perfect! ❤️☀️😎🥂🍾🦀 We can’t wait to come back! ☺️

Great place for a quick getaway! The beach is right across the road and wasn’t crowded at all during our stay. There’s plenty to do in the surrounding areas and we enjoyed attending the Harbor Fest!

Loved staying at this quiet retreat! Mornings listening to birds, afternoons in the sunny backyard, stars and stars! Really loved this place and will be back again.

Such a great location - just a short walk from the beach. Front porch is a great place in the mornings and evenings. The dining room and living room fit our group well and we squeezed in the bedrooms (4 couples + 6 kids all 3 and under) but it was perfect since we spent most time outside anyways! Adam was super helpful and quick to respond when we needed a few items. Would definitely visit again!

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely home. The home was extremely well- equipped and very comfortable. The property is very private, and the grounds are beautiful. We had our dog with us, and we all enjoyed the outdoor spaces. The kitchen has everything you could think of, the beds were comfortable, and the master suite with screen porch was a wonderful place for morning coffee. Highly recommend!

We were invited to join our family in cape Charles but wanted to find a place that would allow us to bring our two dogs. I was absolutely thrilled to find Erika and Joseph’s home, it had a HUGE fenced yard and an entire downstairs that allowed dogs. The upstairs is absolutely adorable with three more bedrooms! We were close to an adorable bakery, an equally great ice cream place, and only short stroll to the beach. Our entire family came over for coffee and we all enjoyed hanging on the front porch chatting. There’s also a wonderful fire pit in the backyard that would be perfect for s’mores while you wind down the day. The house even had things we might need for our dogs like water bowls and waste bags. It’s a wonderful beach house for dog lovers or those looking to just kick back and enjoy some family time in cape Charles.

We had a great day wonderful views of the river. Love the screened in porch and the swing and the beds were super comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed in my family loved fishing off the dock.

This is our second time staying at Sunset Haven— appropriately named. Gorgeous sunsets and weather was perfect. Great and considerate communication with Terri. House was pristine and had every thing you could need. We will be back! Thank you Terri!

My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful time and the home played a big part in this. I was so impressed with all the extras that I just never see in other homes. We had a great time at Diana’s place. The water access was awesome and we had lots of fun with the kayaks. We were able to walk through a wooded trail to a nearby restaurant which was so nice. The location felt private and naturally beautiful while being not far from grocery stores and restaurants. Diana’s neighborhood is beautiful and the space is charming and comfortable. Such a fun way to see the Chesapeake, we would love to come back!

My family and I loved everything about our stay! The home was clean, bright, comfortable. The area was quiet and calm. It was the best Airbnb we've ever stayed in as far as cleanliness, up to date amenities in the home, and overall value for two adults and two children (we have to have two bathrooms and three beds). It was absolutely perfect.

Bee Haven is a perfect size for 2-4 people. It is nicely decorated and has everything you need to feel at home. It is located in a very peaceful, quiet area, perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring. It is close to many activities to keep you busy. It is also close to a lot of restaurants. The front porch is a nice place to start your day with coffee and end your day with beverage of choice. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

My father, husband, kids, and I spent a week here just “getting away”. Close enough to drive to Williamsburg to find entertainment, and far enough from the busy-ness of life to feel very peaceful. My favorite part was reading on the front porch over coffee and watching the crane looking for food in the river. Would definitely recommend!

Incredible stay on a beautiful property. It’s quiet, private, VERY well maintained and just awesome. I truly hope to stay at this location again in the future because it was that great! You can tell the history in the cottage yet it’s updated and cozy. Also I’ve NEVER stayed at a location so clean!!!! From the cottage itself to the grounds, everything was very well taken care of.

We wanted a retreat from busy life and a place to all come together and this place did not disappoint. We enjoyed crabbing and fishing every day and throughout our five night stay we were amazed at all this place had to offer. Beds were comfortable and kitchen had all the necessities.

We are two old & dear friends who needed a getaway to catch-up, and enjoy some R&R from hectic schedules. We had a short stay, but loved our time at the Haddie James House (it was perfect for us!) We felt safe, we were very comfortable and had a lot of fun shopping/eating in Gloucester (Main St) and downtown Mathews. We would definitely stay here again and add more time to our stay. We never met the hosts (just one of their sweet dogs) but trusted they would respond to us if we had questions. Beautiful property and an adorable little home. Note: We easily found the house following the hosts' instructions and GPS in the daytime. But the hosts are right about it being "tricky" to find in the dark. I was glad we arrived when the sun was shining.
