Waterfront holiday rentals in Isle of Portland

An absolutely stunning little place right on the waters edge with brilliant walks, wildlife and Wareham on your doorstep. Jo & Jay were excellent hosts who went above and beyond to accommodate our first trip with our new baby and even upgraded us to a different cottage so we had more space. The breakfast basket was a lovely touch. The accommodation was spotless, cosy and has everything you need. And the view from the patio is just incredible.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment was spotlessly clean upon arrival, bright and comfortable. Quiet at night. Nice views from the living area over the harbor and looking over the town from the large bedroom. As Suzanne had noted in the listing, there is no assigned parking space which could be an issue. We had to pay to park the day of arrival. It’s free after 6pm until 8am. One item we’d suggest adding would be a clothes hanger for drying as the machine didn’t seem to actually dry anything. We’d highly recommend Seagulls restaurant (book in advance). Unassuming place but food was excellent. We also liked Platform for a Sunday roast and Rise for breakfast. The George was decent. If we’re back in West Bay, we’d definitely stay again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Matthew and Victoria's place. The location is incredible, we got up and walked across to the beach for a swim most mornings, then back to the flat for a nice warm shower. Although there is no parking at the property this wasn't an issue at all, we used the overflow parking at the train station as it only costs £6.50 a day :) Would definitely come back!

I had a lovely stay. It was a last minute booking as I was in the area for work. The apartment was easy to find. Parking was simple. Everything was just perfect. I would definitely like to stay again if there is availability. Great location close to shops and restaurants. I slept really well and it was very peaceful.

My family really enjoyed staying here. It was clean and quiet. The kitchen was easy to use and very clean. Thanks for the fresh flowers and homemade cake! We would stay here again.

I can’t recommend this property enough and can’t fault it. Location, the flat itself, the host. All of it! It couldn’t be located better. Five mins walk to shops, restaurants and pubs - and the bus stop, which is very handy if like me you don’t have a car! It’s 2-3 mins walk to a couple of cafes. You’re right on the coastal walking trail, which is highly recommended. I saw some stunning views on my walks. The location was so peaceful. I never heard a peep out of anyone else during my three nights there. The view from the living room was outstanding; even better than the photos show. The flat is modern and beautifully decorated with a nautical theme. The bed was really cozy as was the sofa. WiFi excellent. Spotless and modern kitchen and bathroom. The host Emilie was great - friendly and helpful. I messaged her with a query while I was there, and she got back to me very quickly. She added some nice touches too, like ginger biscuits and an ice cube tray (already filled!).

We stayed here in early June and loved the place. We were slightly perturbed that the sea view overlooked the Oasis Shop/Cafe small car park but in fact this was not noisy nor did it spoil the view. It is literally a 20 yard walk to the steep pebbled beach (some sand at low tide) and half an hour's walk to Weymouth pier along the promenade. There is also a frequent bus service. The accommodation is immaculate, having the living area upstairs. Everything we needed was provided - even an electric toothbrush charger in the bathroom. We spent many an hour on the balcony with drinks watching the swimmers, surfers, sailors and spotting the commercial/navy ships which often anchored in the bay. We had many a happy days out in the Weymouth area and were able to leave the car parked outside all the ten days as we used the bus services. We hope to return in the near future.

We had a lovely weekend away! The location is perfect, so close the quay and we loved being just off the high street, it was quieter than expected in the best possible way. Tina was really helpful and quick to respond. The house was really well kitted out and we had everything we needed. The Dart Board was really fun too! Thank you for a memorable and peaceful stay.

We had a lovely, peaceful stay at Kilpa’s place which is perfectly situated around farmland, with coastal walks, a pub and other amenities nearby. Her comms were brilliant throughout and she couldn’t have been more accommodating. I’d happily recommend her place to anyone looking for a great getaway in Dorset.

This is our third time here and we love it. It’s the perfect house for a large family group of different ages. The house has everything you need and so many toys and games our kids think it’s amazing. Always spotlessly clean. The most perfect location across from the beach and walking distance from the train station and shops. We will be back again!! Thanks so much !

Amazing house with fantastic views of the harbour. Great location as you can either walk to the beach or the town, or get the historic rowing ferry for a couple of quid, right at the bottom of the steps of Nothe Gardens. The house was really well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay, making it feel like a home away from home. Good size bedrooms with plenty of space downstairs for the 8 of us. The garden is a real sun trap and we enjoyed watching the sunsets in the evening. The hosts were brilliant - we couldn’t access the shed to get the BBQ and whilst we were out they had changed the lock and got it out ready for our return, amazing service! It was a lovely long weekend and we could’ve easily stayed longer - I can’t recommend Nothe House enough! Thank you so much!

Our stay at Sea Pilot’s Cottage was absolutely amazing, we loved every minute! Our hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. The cottage itself was stunning, with beautiful decor and lovely homely touches like fresh flowers and a bottle of fizz on arrival. The location was amazing, and the view is quite spectacular! A fabulous 4 night stay in this beautiful apartment in a great location with the added bonus of a balcony which we used every morning for breakfast & in the evenings with a glass of wine. it’s a great size for two people & a dog When we arrived a very thoughtful gift of scones, jam & cream & treats for the dog. Would thoroughly recommend & would love to return.

We had a great stay at this apartment! It was spotlessly clean and perfectly located right in the heart of Poole Harbour – everything was just a short walk away. The check-in process was smooth, with a helpful handbook sent in advance that made everything easy to follow. Really appreciated the thoughtful touches like fresh croissants, milk, and orange juice on arrival – such a lovely welcome. Would definitely stay again!

Incredible location, in a historic building, mere footsteps from the beach, cliffs, and restaurants. We loved looking out at the harbor through the bay windows. It was such a calm, relaxing atmosphere that we wished we could have stayed longer. The one issue we had was that the bathroom was a little crammed, especially the toilet. It wouldn't keep us from visiting again though.

We had a lovely break. Communication was great and we got lots of recommendations from Bethany for places to eat and to visit. The flat was lovely - clean and had everything we needed, and the location was great for exploring Portland and Weymouth. The private parking was a bonus, because the road outside was busy - probably busier than usual due to it being Easter weekend. We would definitely come back and highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at Carolyn’s place. The apartment was well appointed and very comfortable, with great views of the harbour. We particularly appreciated the information on local walks and restaurants that Carolyn provided and just wished we had more time to explore this beautiful costal region.
