Beautiful location at what feels like the end of the world. We slept well and enjoyed both the sounds of nature and the beautiful and unique surroundings. While there are plenty of neighbors in the community, everyone seems to keep to themselves. It was extremely quiet and enjoyable. The firepit in the pictures is not operable, which we found out after booking and really the only downfall for an otherwise great stay. A rental vehicle is required to get there and we were grateful to have rented an SUV. Highly recommended as the roads are rock/gravel with some small hills and quite the drive, but the closest town is about 15 minutes and will have anything else you need. Bring drinking water! The pictures do the cabin justice; it is open air but well maintained, comfortable, and worth the stay. Overall very good experience!

Off the beaten path kind of location. Not in a commercial area, so very quiet location. Beautiful views all day! Place has been well kept. Slept to the sounds of waves every night and woke up to sunrises. Janice strives to make you feel right at home. place had games, beach stuff (boogie board, chairs, mats, beach games, cooler). These are the tropics so expect some bugs; no escaping that. Host is very responsive and takes care of anything that may happen.

Kapalana Beach Haven is a gem of a home, perfectly situated just a two-minute stroll from the ocean. The proximity to the water offers the soothing sound of crashing waves against volcanic rock, creating a serene setting for morning and evening walks. The outdoor space is fantastic, and we spent many evenings on the deck, enjoying the fresh air and the vibrant chorus of frogs and birds. The house itself is beautifully designed with thoughtful details and a comfortable, lived-in feel that sets it apart from typical rentals. It’s clear that a lot of care has gone into making it a welcoming place to stay, with plenty of amenities that made our visit extra special. Nearby, a five-minute drive brings you to a unique, clothing-optional beach with big waves, and a 30 min drive to the Puna Trail offers a secluded spot to swim with turtles. Overall, it’s a fantastic place to unwind and connect with nature — highly recommended for a memorable stay!

One of my favorite AirBnB stays ever! It was a magical place, designed so thoughtfully. I felt deeply connected to the beautiful tropical farm and natural garden surroundings, yet had all of the conveniences to be totally comfortable. It was such a pleasure to wake up to a chorus of birdsongs and gentle warm breeze blowing through the loft windows. The garden shower was also amazing. Melissa and Jeff were so friendly, and I felt at home instantly. I cannot recommend this place more for a retreat in nature!

I wish we could've stayed longer! What a wonderful place to relax! Sitting on the patio or in the pool, and listening to the waves on the shoreline, was amazing! Sonja and Alex were so friendly and helpful - it felt like staying with family. They thought of everything to make the accommodations perfect! We will definitely be back!

We had an unforgettable experience staying at this beautiful cliffside Airbnb near Kehena Black Sand Beach. The house is perched right on the edge of the cliffs, offering absolutely stunning, unobstructed ocean views. Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of waves crashing against the rocks was surreal. The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We specifically chose this place for the views, and it exceeded all expectations. Amber was a fantastic hostess—super responsive, thoughtful, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our stay. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with jaw-dropping scenery and the soothing sounds of the ocean, this is the place. Highly recommend it—we’ll definitely be back!

Yan Ming was very responsive when reached out to. He also checked in on us from time to time just to ensure things were going smoothly. There was an issue with the ceiling fan and immediately took action to correct the issue. I was in town for an event so I couldn’t address some things that came up right away but I believe if I had notified the host about it and given them the opportunity to rectify it, they would have. I did make them aware of it after our stay and it was acknowledged and plans were made for resolution for future guests. Mahalo for the stay Yan Ming!

Would 100% stay again. Best sleep I’ve had in a long time — really comfortable mattress, and sleeping with the windows and doors open to let the breeze in was incredibly pleasant. There were a few mosquitos, but not bad at all. There is a mosquito net with the bed, which worked beautifully. The stars at night are unreal. Kitchen is outdoors, which works great if you’re used to that kind of setup. Just make sure to wash things right after using them and store food right away. It’s well stocked and all the appliances work. The pool was very clean and nice to hang out in. Easy walk to Kehena Beach. Pro tip: stop for groceries in Pahoa on your way in. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, this is the place!

Great location for sightseeing on this side of the island. Good view of the ocean while sitting on Lanai. Beautiful area with lots of beautiful coastline along the road. Great experience.

We loved this place! Our kids felt at home, clean, beautiful location. Described clearly & the home has a lush yard and very comfortable interior. Well equipped kitchen made it easy for staying in and enjoying the peaceful location.

We loved our stay at Marlyn's place! This was our favorite place we stayed so far! Very peaceful surroundings, great views of the tree tops and ocean, very clean, comfortable bed, kitchen had everything you needed, and outdoor shower was great! Peaceful star gazing on the lania at night was rewarding. 10mins from Black Sands beach, roughly 20mins to Pāhoa, and 40 mins to Hilo. Not much else to do in the immediate area but thats what we loved! You're with nature and beautiful surroundings/fruit/that's all you need. We will be back here!

Pele’s Paradise is a special place ~ beautifully curated spaces that created a relaxing environment, with everything a couple or family would need to have an enjoyable experience. The location is amazing right on the cliffs edge where lave once flowed into the ocean, with breathtaking views down the coastline. The attention to detail is impeccable, including a guide book full of valuable info/ resources for the area. Chase is a very thoughtful host! Mahalo Nui

We had an amazing stay at this truly unique home! Built in Bali and shipped to Hawaii, the house is a masterpiece of wood craftsmanship, blending traditional Balinese architecture with the natural beauty of its surroundings. The intricate open-air design, and thoughtfully curated details made it feel like a tropical retreat unlike any other. The atmosphere was both peaceful and inspiring, with plenty of space to relax and take in the stunning private environment. Everything was well-maintained, and the hosts were welcoming and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind experience with cultural charm, this is the place to be. We would absolutely love to return!

A fun place for Hilo side! Just a short distance away are amazing black cliffs to enjoy the sunrise from, and you are greeted with quiet nights and all sorts of stars! Loved the outdoor shower.
