We was there as my son had his graduation. The place was lovely felt home from home. Both ladies Jamiee but I forgot the other lady’s name (forgive me) was absolutely fantastic and professional. Very patient, courteous and very attentive. The home cooked breakfast was exceptional and very filling, we were spoilt for choice. The rooms were very cosy, super clean and comfortable cannot fault it. Definitely would recommend this guest house, a wonderful stay. Didn’t want to go home! Thank you so much.

We booked this last minute and we were blown away by the beautiful room, attention to detail like blankets and treats for the dogs, homemade cakes on arrival and delicious breakfast that was cooked for us early as we had to leave by 7:45am. Nothing was too much trouble. The surrounding are peaceful and a countryside delight. The en-suite shower room was spacious and the bed was super comfy. Thanks for a great stay. We will be back.

Clean room, very friendly hosts. Comfy bed! Birdsong in the morning. There's parking (at the front) and it's about 15 minutes walk to the town centre (Newark is flat). A local park, a small nature reserve, the castle and the leisure centre are all within 20 minutes walk (5 minute drive). Breakfast is simple and catered for both gluten and lactose free. I enjoyed myself and would recommend it.

Everything is splendid about this place. The setting is magnificent: a hilltop above the lush Derwent Valley, with a family of deer frequenting the estate, mist rising over the Derwent River, lush groves of birch and other trees extending across rolling fields. Owner Peter Kay and his family have done a remarkable job renovating the old gabled mansion, filling it with tasteful furnishings and fittings and an array of antiques that conjure up its days as the summer estate of the Nightingales -- Florence, her sister, and parents- during much of the nineteenth century. Peter is a fount of information about the legendary nurse and social reformer and her life in rural England, and, following an excellent breakfast prepared by his wife, he led me on an invigorating morning walk, both along the river and on the carriage trails that Florence's father had constructed in the surrounding forest. For both those with special interest in Florence Nightingale and those seeking a serene and beautiful retreat in Derbyshire, I can't recommend Lea Hurst highly enough.

Had the pleasure of staying at Marie’s residence for 2 weeks. She’s one of the best hosts one could hope for, as she’s very responsive and kind. The place was as advertised, private and peaceful. The breakfast spread was a delight as the jams and honey were organic. Marie and her husband were wonderful hosts and I look forward to seeing them again.

Beautifully refurbished cottage - Sandra has great taste. Little snug with log burning stove for our use, all warm and welcoming on a wet evening. Lovely cooked breakfast.

It was an incredible experience, and the perfect get away. The wife loved the room, the window view, and the fact it's a working farm too. We only met Charlie who was really welcoming, genuine and made our stay personal. We will definitely go again. Thank you Sarah and James

Had a great stay here in the lovely Hay Loft Suite. The room was very comfortable and the hot tub was amazing. The cooked breakfast in the morning was also very good! Highly recommend if you're considering a break in the countryside.

What an absolutely fantastic place to stay. So very kind allowing us to check out a little later too. We have finally found where we are going to stay when we come up to visit family. It has been hard to find a quiet, peaceful relaxing place until now. The perfect place and thank you so much. A&P x

The canal Inn is the perfect place to stay. We loved the accommodation and everyone who worked there was very friendly and accommodating. Great atmosphere and lovely locals too. Got to meet Lola a local dog would give her 5 paws too if we could. Would definitely recommend for all ages and types of stay. We stopped breifly on our way up to Scotland and would definitely come back again and spend longer.

Cracking bed room superbly done. Lovely place with great history. Food in restaurant was great value and great quality. Service was spot on and really friendly. The staff are a great credit to you. Breakfast superb. Lots of parking 👍

Newly renovated Old Pub done with nice taste. Lovely room and bathroom with great shower. Breakfast included was great, good atmosphere in the Pub and local community. Would not hesitate in re booking!

This place is AMAZING! we were looking for a place that will quiet and relaxed and close to the peak district and we got that and so much more. this new place is just what we needed. everything was so well planned, the room was clean and the bed so comfortable. Marta's food is incredible and they are both so.nice We can't wait for them to open the Yoga Studio they are planning on for when we can come again we really recommend staying here!!!

Lovely bedroom in a purpose built area at the back of a pub. Place was really easy to find and was nice and quiet. Comfortable room, with air con/heater which on a cold damp night was a blessing! Checking in was easy and the door entry system meant I could leave and return whenever I wished. Would recommend.
