Places to stay in San Giovanni d'Asso
Apartment with 2 bedrooms, particularly suitable for a couple, 3 adults, or a family with 2 kids: large living room with a small drawing room with fireplace and a dining room, kitchen, double bedroom, second small bedroom, 2 baths, 1 of which with tub. 12 km far from Pienza, within an ancient farmhouse.
Casa Leoncini is located within the Cosona farmhouse. An outdoor space, equipped for lunch and with a barbecue, is at disposal. The agritourism includes 6 more independent apartments.
Cosona is located in the countryside on a panoramic dirt road. It is only reachable by means of own transportation (car or minibus). The closest train stations are in Chiusi, Sinalunga and Buonconvento. Just in front of the apartment there is an outdoor space for parking, free of any charge.
  • That has been our favorite accommodation on our Italy trip. Cosona is nestled in the magical Val d’Orcia region. The grounds and accommodation of the agriturismo provide everything you can wish for. The location, charm of our accommodation and kindness of our host (Vittoria) provides us with a feeling of being at home. Grazie mille!!!

  • Vittoria’s place is one of most amazing listings among our trip in Italy. The place is clean and well equipped. It’s literally Tuscany style of castle you see in the movie. We really enjoyed staying here. Vittoria is a superb host. Definitely stay here again. :)

  • Vittoria is very helpful. We arrived quite late and she waited us and helped us settle down. The apartment is nearby Vittoria's castle and is surrounded by farms. We enjoyed a breathtaking sunrise with Tuscany's fog in the room! The apartment is extremely large and cozy with breakfast for the first day. It's such a short stay in Vittoria's place and hope next time we can stay longer. High recommended this place!

  • Me, my wife and a couple of friends had a great stay. Vittoria and her cousin Niccolo welcomed us very well, gave us many tips and made them feel free to enjoy every corner of the farm. The house is very spacious, large and cozy living room, also large double bedroom and double bedroom with two single beds with good space. The house is on the outside of the property but has access to social facilities being necessary to walk a small path through the trees, the pool is wonderful. The night is very dark and it is not possible to go to the social part, a lighting would be good to take better advantage of what the farm has to offer at night. The farm is in a very beautiful place, calm and with a lot of vegetation. You can drive to Pieza in 15 minutes, the city was the most beautiful we visited around the farm. I would definitely stay again.

  • Words can’t describe how unbelievably picturesque this place is! My mother and I would really recommend this spot to anyone who‘s looking to relax and unwind in style while wondering the beautiful tuscan hillsides. Our accommodation was incredible and the panoramic view on the property is absolutely unreal. Vittoria, thanks so much for the lovely time we had there!

    Daniel2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Typical Tuscan accommodation, the rooms were great, both parents and children, the house is located in an exceptional environment or reigns calm! The infinity pool is really beautiful, crazy view on the plains! We just regret that given the location of the field (view of the plains 360 degrees) we do not have a great view from the garden where we eat. We also loved pienza which is 20 minutes (20 minutes of pure splendor) thanks to Vitorria, we could not see each other on arrival but always very present to answer our questions and ask is the main! We strongly recommend this place for a family with two children!

  • The property in Cosona is beautifully and quietly located in Tuscany. It impresses with its great location with a wonderful panorama, both from the Pool off as well as during the sunset. We were warmly welcomed by Vittoria and guided by the generous agriturismo. She also gave us some tips on neighboring places. The apartment was clean, typical Tuscan furnishings and had all the necessary things. Even the first breakfast was taken care of. Nearby are small towns with supermarkets and pharmacies. Otherwise, the apartment is very quiet and it is ideal to relax and unwind. We would definitely come again.

  • Wow, what a Tuscany experience. We felt transported to a different world staying here. The family and this property go back hundreds of years and we felt privileged to stay here. Incredibly relaxing, beautiful, and a great place from which to base your Tuscany stay.

Located in Chiusure, a little village in Crete Senesi, my flat has a stunning view on Abbey Monteoliveto and clays. Montalcino vineyards, Orcia Valley, Pienza, Montepulciano, the natural spa of Bagni San Filippo are close. Siena is 35 minutes faraway by car. The village have nice inhabitants, a breathtaking viewpoint, a drugstore and two restaurants. Pets welcome, just let me know!
The house is composed by sitting room, bathroom with washing machine, full-equipped kitchen and two rooms, one at ground floor, the other at 1st floor, reachable by 10 rungs. Bed linens and towels provided. Feel free to park your car directly in front of the flat.
Chiusure is an authentic Tuscan hamlet inhabited by a peaceful community, with a gorgeous viewpoint on Crete. In the village there are two cheap restaurants and a small drugstore. In Asciano, the closest town, all the facilities are available: bank, pharmacy, doctor, a bigger supermarket.

  • Excellent place with typical toscan view, fast answers and it was very pleasure, that Cristiano helped us with recommendation of tasting wine and was online with us, when it needed.

  • Views magnificent and loved the village feel. It would be good if the place was a bit tidier. Would definitely come again. Cristiano was a very attentive host.

  • Very nice little apartment in a small village! Less than an hour drive from Siena. Very beautiful view from the top bed room floor and from the drive way! From Cristiano’s place we were able to visit several towns in Tuscany which makes his location very ideal for us. Hot water was inconsistent but it wasn’t an issue for us. I highly recommend Cristiano’s place!

  • We enjoyed our week at the turn of the year. The house is welcoming and spacious, warm and typically Tuscany! Our dogs liked the garden and the surrounding fields. Really relaxing choice and to take a break from the world. Mauro available and informed on the surroundings and beyond. Thank you very much!

    Jade2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Well! It was such a pleasure to stay at the Mauro’s house! The place is definitely for relax. You wake up with the bird’s songs and always sleep like a baby. There a lot of old beautiful things inside that makes the house unforgettable and cozy. And the only one thing ..it was not easy to find it , cause u can see some dirty roads and not enough signs to get the place. Anyway I totally recommend to have some time here just for yourself and far from the big cities. Thank you, Mauro!

    Alena2019-10-25T00:00:00Z

B&B Casalmustia is located in the heart of Tuscany in Castelmuzio, a small medieval village rich in history and tradition and surrounded by the natural and artistic beauty of the place. The B&B has seven guest rooms and a restaurant.
B&B Casalmustia has 7 rooms, elegantly furnished and equipped with private bathroom, air conditioning and heating. Guests have a double bed and a wardrobe for storing clothes.
Castelmuzio is a small conglomeration of dwellings situated “...on the back of a tufo-mud hill (443m), under which flows the Trove stream on the Auster side, tributary of the Asso river, on the crossroads of the roads that arrive from Trequanda and Petroio di Sicille”. In 1213, in documents from the Siena State Archives, the name of Castel Mozzo appears for the first time, to indicate a settlement that already had characteristics of a fortified castle, with a court and with all of the fittings necessary for a castle of this type. In the XIV, XV and later centuries the structure of Castel Mozzo is that of a typical fortified castle. Built in a tufo-mud hill it has a round plan and is surrounded by walls and bastions that make access difficult to the tower house in the piazza. The walls are built in tuffaceous stones, placed irregularly and in some even now there are openings for cannons. There are four roads, slightly sloping, two paved in stone and two in brick that all lead to the piazza, in which is dug a large cistern of rain water, with a travertine base and iron supports. The castle coat of arms consists of a fig branch with a seal that shows an effigy of the Virgin of the Assumption, who has always been the town’s Patron Saint. The name of Castel Mozzo (lit. ‘Docked castle’) comes from the fact that from faraway it appeared like a fort overlooked by a very low tower, that could have seemed ‘docked’. The appellative of “Castelmuzio” is thought by some to be connected with the ‘Muzia’ people of Roman origins. At the centre of the town is the Chiesa Plebana originally dedicated to St. Giusto and then, in the XVI century, to St. Mary of the Assumption. The beautiful bell tower is later (linked to the XVI century), has a square form and a vaguely Lombardian style. The bells were all cast in the last century, except that of the “Communion”, paid for through offerings and a particular donation given in 1814. The Tower House, first seat of the Magistrate Giusdicente and the Vicar of the republic of Siena then became, in the XVI century “House of the Community”. And finally the Spedale (Hospital) of St. John the Baptist that carries out more social aid than medical. It welcomes orphans and old people and abandoned people in general, giving them food and shelter.

VILLA The ground floor of the main house, is an enormous open plan living and dining space with a large modern kitchen. There are three large bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor; two beautiful doubles, which share a bathroom, and a large family room with a double and two singles. The main bathroom is opposite. The master bedroom is accessed from the side of the house and is a beautiful large light filled room on two levels, with sitting area and en-suite bathroom (it can also be accessed via the family room - it is the other side of a small entrance hall and on another level, so there is no issue with privacy). The Val d'Orcia is rightly one of the two most popular tourism destinations in Tuscany for both visitors from abroad and Italians visiting Tuscany. It's characterised by rounded hills, dense vineyards, olive groves and woods. Hill towns, thermal springs, Etruscan remains and nature reserves are all nearby. Sienna, Montepulciano and Montalcino are all around half an hour's drive. Lake Trasimeno, the largest lake in central and southern Italy is a 45 minute drive. The coast is less than a two hour drive.
  • What an amazing home for real Serenity or adventure, depending on your mood. While there were only two of us, we could imagine a very comfortable stay for a couple families. Towel and floor heaters were a very nice touch that was unexpected. Take time to read the rich history of the home while you are there and follow their tips from the house manual! They are on point. Loved our stay.

The house is even more beautiful than on the photos and our expectations were exceeded. We spend the perfect time, can recommend the house without any restrictions and will for sure come back :) Thanks for everything, Sue.

  • The house is perfectly sublime if what you're looking for is an outstanding location in the heart of Tuscany with views across a valley to a 700 year old Benedictine monastery and gorgeous sunsets. It's rustic but chic, stylish and comfortable at the same time, isolated and private, yet convenient to town when necessary. A great place to relax, cook, eat and to share time together as a family out in the country. We left feeling thoroughly rested and relaxed. Loved every minute of it and certainly hope to return soon.

Welcome at Montelifrè's castle Montelifrè is a medieval village still owned by the ancient and noble family Martinozzi. The hamlet is one of the oldest military buildings in Siena country side, Tuscany, one ofthe most beautiful italian regions. Montelifrè is 40 km far from Siena and Arezzo. Walking in the streets of the village means to have a deep look in the life of the past. Along "Via della Cappella", wich leads to the Montelifré church, there is the little green door to the Villa, the mansion with four double bedrooms:from each one you can have a complete look on the beautifull valley, and all the sunsets you are goingto live with us. You can spend pleasant hours walking in the country side near Montelifrè or even practice trekking. Montelifré is near to Montalcino and Montepulciano with the famous wines: Brunello and Nobile di Montepulciano. In Pienza you can get a very good cheese and it's a Renaissance famous Village.
  • This is truly a castle in a magical place. Sitting up on a hill, the views are panoramic and gorgeous in any season. I happened to be visiting in the fall and enjoyed the changes in color. Niccolò was an excellent host. When I arrived, he took up my offer to go to the market and dinner. He taught me about the area and the history of his home. This was a memorable part of my trip to Tuscany, And I hope to make it back soon.

To make it unique and different has been the wonderful medieval residence of Niccolò Bolognini-Martinozzi, exquisite, caring and multitasking person, alone and occasionally with friends, he has restructured and is still working on the castle inherited from his mother. • So happy to find such a special and unforgettable castle with more than 700 years history !!Many years later, you may forget Hilton,Intercontinental, Westin you stay, but, you will not forget this special experience live in a history castle, everything has its' original history story.

  • A truly unique experience! We enjoyed exploring the grounds, learning about the history of the castle, sharing a home cooked meal with our hosts and staying in one of the suites. We drove and the location was easy to find. There was parking and a flight of stairs, which wasn't an issue for us. There are many small towns to visit in the area as well. We enjoyed our stay!

  • The caste is an incredibly fascinating place, full of history and suggestion. Calm and quite all around but close enough to explore the Val d'Orcia region. We really recommend it to everyone who want a unique experience.

  • I was a guest of Niccolò Bolognini Martinozzi, owner of a medieval house furnished in boho-chic style and I had a great time. The Borgo is silent, there is nobody, an incredible peace. Breathtaking panorama on awakening. Instead of going to the restaurant on my arrival, I preferred to taste the pici and peposo prepared by Niccolò, who told me all the sacrifices and work he did, alone and with the help of friends, to make it habitable again the part of the castle he inherited from his mother. It proudly displays the reclaimed furniture from the various family branches, the household items bought back by locals. Slowly everything will improve again. But not too eh, I understand what fun there is. Nice bike ride.

  • A beautiful and big apartment on the 1st floor in an incredibly beautiful area of Tuscany. It’s very clean and quiet and the host Graziella was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely visit this place again. Great value for money

  • Loved staying at Graziella's place! She was so gracious and welcoming. The apartment is very sweet and well located, I wished we had more than one day to stay. Would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area.

  • We absolutely loved our stay in Graziella’s villa. The home is decorated well and has good kitchen utensils for cooking. Graziella was such a kind and sweet host, communicated quickly and gave us lots of great suggestions. The location is perfect for exploring the region by car and we loved the village. We will be coming back!

    Timothy2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Graziella’s place was everything we wanted and more. First, location. It is perfectly situated to explore all the beauty Tuscany has to offer. Day trips to pretty much any Tuscan destination are totally possible. Also the town itself, San Giovanni d’Asso, is charming and a destination of its own, especially if you like truffles. As for Graziella, she is a kind and welcoming host. Every request was met and her home is very cosy and clean. She responded quickly to all communication and gave us great tips on places to visit. The included breakfast was also very nice touch.

  • A very lovely apartment in a quite area. The owner lives in the apt below, but fully respected our privacy and was very accommodating. The apt have all the essentials you might need including some items for breakfast that Graziella provided. There are some lovely resturants and a supermarket in 10 minute walking radius. But if you coming with a car the apt has a direct parking across which was extremely convinient for us.

  • The apartment, clean and welcoming, has warmed us with its beautiful path! The house is located in a strategic place a few kilometers from Siena, Montalcino, Montepulciano and from delightful villages, majestic landscape of the Sienese hills, among the wonders of the world. Graziella was simply Impeccable, kind, available and complete with a final oenological gift

The Val D'Orcia is a jewel of Tuscany - offering guests an experience of remote pastoral country living along with incredible architectural, artistic and cultural excursions. Gastronomic marvel of the world, Tuscany is home to the Chianti region and Olive Oil of the area is known for it's region. You may find a tractor on the way to your tour of a 18th century Monastery!
Petroio is a tiny town in Tuscany. If you are interested to see what a village with very few tourists is like, you will love visiting us. We are about 1 km down a dirt road and surrounded by olive trees and open fields. You will remember the country fragrance of fresh air forever, and see the stars at night over a dark valley with little lights of villages in the far distance.
  • Fantastic experience, amazing location, hidden in the beautiful tuscan countryside, lovely house, great host, really enjoyed!

  • This was one of our favorite places that we stayed at during our trip around Italy! I cannot say enough good things..It is so quiet, peaceful, and beautiful around this super cute little cottage! Carey is an excellent host; she responds right away and is very friendly, thoughtful, and helpful. The bed was very comfortable, and the little house is nicely decorated. The large glass doors/windows are lovely (they have curtains for privacy). We enjoyed cooking in the fully equipped kitchen. We also enjoyed spending time outside taking in the views and hanging out with Carey's dog and the the farm cats, all of whom are very friendly! Petroio is a beautiful little town. We recommend visiting Pienza which is close by; we loved it there. Carey had great recommendations for food in the surrounding towns/cities. We regret not staying here longer and we are already longing to go back!

    Gabriella2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • A rare gem in a beautiful location! The property was tranquil and idyllic with friendly cats and a dog to meet you at your door step. Carey was friendly and responsive - would definitely recommend!

  • This is a fabulous little house in a great setting, off the beaten track and surrounded by gorgeous hilltop medieval villages and beautiful scenery.

    Gerald2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny home was perfect for the 2 of us and the location was just what we had hoped for; convenient to the places we wanted to visit yet nestled in the gorgeous landscape of rural Tuscany. Carey was an outstanding host and the property was ideal for a meaningful get-away. There were still many places we didn't get to see in the week we were there, so we hope to return in the spring. Thank you for a lovely stay, Carey.

    Kimberly2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to feel the energy of Tuscany nature, explore the surroundings and visit the cities nearby. From there we went without problem to Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza and visited several wineries without any problem. The host was very kind, friendly and gave us great suggestions for food and places to visit. Our stay was great! The house is tiny but it’s charming and very comfortable, great bed also. Recommend it!

    Andre2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved this place! It perfectly met our ideal of a Tuscany countryside experience. It is located on an olive oil farm, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature with a beautiful view. The place itself is charming, adorable and has so much character. Carey thought of every detail to make this place feel cozy, comfortable and at home. The bed was heavenly. We even stayed in one night to make dinner and sit under the stars. The kitchen had everything we needed. This place is ideal if you are wanting to explore nearby towns like Montepulciano and Pienza, although the quaint town of Petroio is worth a visit too. Carey is warm and welcoming. We hope to go back to this place again someday. We highly recommend it.

    Angela2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Carey's place is perfect cozy with lots of stylish details and thoughtful touches- much appreciated. The location and property are both incredibly beautiful. Her suggestions for local spots were great and really helpful for the first time in the area. We'll definitely come back to stay again. Thanks!

Lovely apartment in the heart of the small medieval village of Montisi between the Crete Senesi and the Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO heritage. Ideal for two people can comfortably sleep up to four people thanks to the comfortable sofa bed.
The apartment, with independent access, consists of a living room with dining area and a comfortable sofa bed for two people, a kitchen, a double bedroom, a small laundry room and a large bathroom with tub. The use of warm colors, the bright, modern decor and the beautiful view from the apartment make the space a warm, comfortable and bright.
San Giovanni d'Asso, famous for white truffles, takes its origins from an ancient Longobard parish, built in the dawn of Christianity in Italy, on which was erected a castle. Its building work, between the XII and the XIV centuries, was on the project of Agostino and Agnolo di Ventura. At the beginning of the XII century the village was attested as a fief of Count Paltonieri of Forteguerra. In 1551 it was donated to the council of Siena, but subsequently a large number of noble families alternated at power. Still under Siennese sovereignty, the village passed to Ugolino Scolari, then to the Aldobrandeschi of Civitella. In the same way, another village in today’s council’s territory was developed, that of Montisi, firstly autonomous, then during the last years of the 14th century annexed to the property of the Ospedale della Scala, that organised it as a “grangia”, or fortified farm. Halfway through the XIII century the castle of San Giovanni was purchased by the Buonsignori, then passed to the Salimbeni and finally to the Petroni. In fact a rural reality was consolidated, dominated by the various noble citizens of Siena. Only towards the middle of the 15th century did Siena place San Giovanni under its direct administration. A century later, together with the whole of the Siennese territory, San Giovanni became a part of the Medici’s Grand Duchy of Tuscany, who were succeeded by the Lorenas in the XVIII century. The economic life of the territory, still on the margin of the main commercial roads, has always been based almost exclusively on agriculture, especially after the drainage of the Asso Plains in the 13th century by the Siennese. To the classic cultivations (cereals, vines and olives) the last few centuries have seen the additional cultivation of mulberries and, consequently, the breeding of silk worms. The lacking industrial development of the post-war years provoked depopulation, a fairly common phenomenon of the rural towns of Tuscany.

  • Elena's home proved to be perfect and strategic for our short vacation. It has everything you need, including an outdoor space that good weather has allowed us to exploit. Comfortable and delicious, we have never missed anything and felt at home. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a relaxing holiday or as a base for his travels, given the favorable position .. Admitted even my little dog who enjoyed his holiday

    Alessandra2019-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Small flat in excellent position; the house is about 20 minutes drive from the main towns of the Val d'Orcia. The girl who welcomed us was polite and punctual, as well as helpful in giving us information about events in and around Montisi

    Simone2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • I recommend everyone to the cottage of Elena, beautiful view of the hills, outdoor table in the "terrace" and perfect location to visit the area. Montisi then is a chicago !! :)

    Claudia2018-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Montisi is wonderful - amazing restaurants, charm that just doesn't end, and the quiet, small village experience that we wanted. Elena's place is plenty spacious for two. The terrace with the table is a bonus as is the washing machine. Parking was a little iffy as the lot was quite full and the alternative is a bit of a hike. We had a delightful 6 days here and were able to visit so many quaint hilltowns and wineries due to the great central location. Would definitely recommend Elena's place for value and for location!

    Cindy2018-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place, lovely house, very centrally located if you want to view South Tuscany. Trasimeno is nearby. Village is nice and safe. Communication is good, Elena is attentive. Nothing to criticize. The only suggestions I can come up with are: more clothes hangers and possibly a nice chair for the garden. But even without it we felt very satisfied.

The apartment is located in San Giovanni d'Asso in the municipality of Montalcino and a few kilometers from the most beautiful towns in the Valdorcia area. It can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people and is equipped with everything you need to stay even for long periods.
The apartment, with independent access via stairs, is composed of two double bedrooms, a large living room with a dining table, a sofa bed and a fully equipped kitchenette. The elegant furniture, the wooden beams and the characteristic terracotta floor make the room comfortable and welcoming. From the windows of the apartment you can enjoy a stunning view of the green Tuscan hills.
San Giovanni d'Asso rises in the center of the Crete Senesi along the Asso stream, from which it takes its name. The landscape is characterized by various hilly reliefs with vast and arid clayey soils and with thickets near the numerous rivers, mainly streams and small streams. Within the boundaries of the territory of the former municipality of San Giovanni d'Asso, evidence of Etruscan settlements has been found in the area of Lucignano d'Asso and Monterongriffoli, and in the same area there are also finds from the Roman period, due to the presence of temples. In the Middle Ages the real town began to be born: already in 714 the existence of the church of San Pietro in Villore is documented and, until 1178, the town was disputed between the bishop of Arezzo and that of Siena.
  • Excellent place to stay and explore the surrounding areas. Large, well executed apartment. Very warm and toasty in winter!

  • Very nice and clean accommodation

    Daniele2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • The flat was spacious, and the master bed was very comfortable. All of the necessary items could be found there, and the space had an authentic Italian feel. There were many steep stairs to the apartment, and parking was just a very short walk away, but this should be noted for those who might find issue in it. Quaint little town with a pharmacy, bar and restaurant just up the hill.

  • Very nice apartment with attention to detail. Clean and well furnished, complete with everything you need to live. The rooms are all conditioned. Location of the spectacular apartment with a breathtaking view. Only a suggestion for families with strollers or people with disabilities, the apartment is not easily accessible as there are two flights of stairs. A special thanks to Rosa and Mario who are always present and ready to suggest great suggestions.

Guests have a double bed and one single bed,s and a wardrobe for storing clothes.
  • It was a very nice stay, located in a gorgeous town. I recommend to other guests.

    Victoria2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The small mountain village of olives, which is only a few dozens of people, is the only bar and hotel in the village, facing the central square church and the bell tower. The atmosphere is very good, as if to experience the life of people here for hundreds of years. Only a few old people can be seen during the day, and it is still very lively in the bar at night. It is estimated that they are the only social places. Parking is convenient, don't enter the restricted area to find a seat. The restaurant's big steak is very good.

    Leo2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in this beautiful B&B! One of the best places we stayed during our tour around Tuscany! Our room was spotlessly clean, the whole place was so artistically quirky that it made it a joy to stay there! The location is so beautiful and peaceful and well situated for day trips to visit places like Montepulciano & Pienza. The breakfast is wonderful with a vast array of meats, cheeses, cereals, yoghurt, baked goods, etc. Not to mention great coffee! Giulia is an amazing chef who cooks from the heart and you can taste it in her delicious food. We ate there both nights of our stay because we couldn't think why we would want to eat anywhere else! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to either stay or just dine!

  • Place surrounded by greenery, excellent location to get around the surroundings. The house is very beautiful and comfortable. Perhaps the only flaw is the somewhat expensive heating, in anticipation of more days in the cold season

  • Beautiful traditional country villa in the middle of incredibly beautiful Tuscan countryside surrounded by nothing but hills and fields. Perfect place for switching off, relaxing and exploring the beautiful Tuscany. Nice spacious villa with a pool to cool off, we stayed with 4 couples of friends to celebrate a nearby wedding. It’s also a great spot to be based to explore the scenic surroundings and nearby sites and villages of interest. We will come back!

  • Spectaccollare !!! The house is really in the middle of the Tuscan countryside. Graziella's attention was fantastic !!

    Paula2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • A truly lovely place, and Graziella was wonderful. She was there every morning to clean the pool, yet you didn't see or even hear her. She told us where the grocery stores were and their hours, which is always helpful. The grounds are great, all kinds of places to just sit and relax, and watch the sheep on the hills. It was so quiet you could hear the bells on the sheep, and the dogs barking at them. The pool was a nice amenity, although we only used it once. The kitchen was set up nicely, and large enough that the four of us weren't bumping into each other. Highly recommended.

    Kathleen2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed in the Graziella villa for 3 nights with a group of friends. The house is really beautiful, as described, equipped with everything you need, spacious and comfortable even for large groups. Graziella is very helpful for any problems and information. Wonderful experience, highly recommended home!

    Riccardo2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Graziella's home is even prettier than we thought. We were a group of 8 adults and 2 children and we loved staying in Graziella's beautifull house. We absolutely loved the interior, the pool, hanging out outside and enjoying beautiful views. The property is really big with more than enough space. It was a perfect relaxed getaway and we will definitelly come back.

    Mateja2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • A country house in the best location in Tuscany, near many beautiful villages, and that allows you to be in full contact with nature! Graziela received us very well. The only thing was that it was very cold and the heating was not included in the price paid, and it was not cheap to use it.

    Catalina2019-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Graziella's place was absolutely stunning -- you truly couldn't ask for a more beautiful or serene location. It is also much bigger than it looked in the photos. Graziella herself was friendly and very helpful. We plan to come back!

  • Couldn’t have asked for a better getaway in the Tuscan countryside. The house is truly off the beaten path and gives you an escape from civilization in the middle of Italy!

  • This is the best ever house I've booked in AirBNB. This place is the ideal one for those who want to enjoy several days of isolated life and Tuscany's sunshine! The house has almost everything you need and posseses astounding sunset view and star & galaxy view during the night! The supermarket and restaraunt are also not far away (with minutes of drving to the small towns nearby). To others the fact that the key holder can't speak English may be an issue, to me it's also interesting to "talk" with him by using Google translation. It was quite fun. All in all I'd definitely recommend this house to a group of tourists of 4-6 people to tuscany, and I wish I can come back sometime in the future.

  • Rupert and Lara have built a very impressive home decorated with antiques from Ruperts lifelong travels throughout the world (including a toilet built from an Asian throne kept behind a secret bedroom door!). The property looks like it’s out of a magazine, complete with wandering peacocks, hammocks and a gazebo for lounging and yoga practice. We were fortunate to experience an outdoor private session with Rupert one magnificent morning, which was the perfect way to start our day. The room is spacious, well-lit with creative lighting and welcoming with a fireplace and cozy, foam mattress King-size bed. Breakfast was left outside our door every morning in a wicker basket filled with homemade peanut butter, jams, yogurt, granola, and daily pastries. Finding the property on the first day was surprisingly tricky. We had a mid-size sedan and would not have felt comfortable in something smaller on the gravel roads leading to the house. That said, our anxiety about the roads was quickly subdued thanks to Rupert’s guidance. When we got lost on the way to the house, rupert immediately came to rescue us, and later that evening drove ahead of us to town for our dinner reservation so that we could better familiarize ourselves in the dark. Generally speaking, Rupert was very responsive to all of our needs and went over and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, including building us a fire so that the room was nice and cozy when we returned home from dinner. His kind and gentle demeanor was incredibly calming and we were most impressed by his diverse knowledge and experience. We would absolutely stay again if we find ourselves back in the area. Thanks for such a special stay Rupert, Lara and Grace!

  • Rupert and his family were absolutely amazing. They are truly inspiring and it really shows in their home as well. Our room/bathroom couldn't have been friendlier and we loved all the little details that made everything so magical here. The vegetarian breakfasts were always delicious. If you need to get away from the noise and stress of everyday life, we can highly recommend staying here.

  • Wonderful site in the middle of the soft slopes of Tuscany. An impeccable space and careful with care and much, much love. They are lovely, super attentive and cordial, helping in what they can and available. Great breakfast and the best bed of an Airbnb site I've tried in these years, just perfect for me. Ragazzi grazie per il vostro tempo e la condivisione, became perllalla zone andiamo da voi senza nessun dubbio. A forte abbraccio

  • Enchanting. There are no other terms to describe the home of Rupert and Lara. My partner and I have booked a few days before mid-August, without great demands given the period. We could not have imagined that on our arrival we would have been catapulted into a book of fairy tales, where it is hard to distinguish reality from fantasy and where time seems to crystallize. Immersed in the Val d'Orcia, it is the ideal place to restore inner balance, far from any kind of daily "disturbance". Rich and exquisite breakfast, impeccable cleanliness, excellent aesthetic taste. I can certainly say that it was the best experience out of town. We will be back, and we can't wait.

  • Perfect place to relax and get away from it all. Fantastic colors, clear air and ... a magnificent moon in the pagoda with my Love.

  • Wonderful and magical. One of the best value-for-money stays in my life.

    Solid2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We were guests of Rupert and Lara for only one magical night .. the road to reach the place is a dirt road of a couple of miles maybe a little uncomfortable. Once in place you are greeted by the quiet and beauty of the farmhouse surrounded by the greenery of the beautiful Val d'Orcia. The beautiful and well-kept room, furnished in a rustic and very pleasant style. The well-kept garden full of peacocks that circulate freely. Dreamy night lighting. Rich and delicious breakfast. Rupert and Lara are two very hospitable, kind and helpful hosts. Definitely recommended!

  • Rupert and Lara were amazing, we had some difficulties getting to the house as we were in and out of service and we didn’t believe the location was accurate on maps but once we got there we realized it was. Rupert came to where we were to show us the way as we arrived in the dark. The house has about 2+km through a dirt road so ensure your car can handle it. It is misleading as the house looks as if it’s in the middle of nowhere on maps. Lara had breakfast made for us when we woke, there is a lot of space to lounge around and relax, while we’re given our own privacy. Wish we got to see Rupert and talk to him more as he seems to be such a friendly soul. Worth the visit if you want to relax and unwind in the countryside of Tuscany!

  • Our stay in San Giovanni D'Asso was lovely! The location is perfect for driving around Tuscany and exploring the various hill towns—each unique and wonderful. The apartment was spacious and well appointed. The caretaker, Benadetta, was very helpful and communicative, with great restaurant recommendations. My wife and I were traveling with my parents, so it was important that we all had our privacy, which was only slightly lacking due to thin walls within the apartment (the building used to be stables so it's understandable that there is not much sound insulation). Podere Ferranino was overall terrific and I would definitely stay again!

  • Mauro's house is ideal for a short stay in Val d'Orcia. Montalcino is just a few minutes away, as is San Quirico d'Orcia and the fabulous views of the Valley. Mauro was very friendly and you live in full relax and in contact with the environment.

  • We had five fantastic days at Federica’s place. Federica and her son, Lorenzo, deliver much more service than what can be expected. Also we find that the pictures of the apartment don’t nearly show how spacious and beautiful the apartment and terrace are. Good restaurants in the village and central location for exploring “Brunello Country “ We hope we will be back shortly.

  • If you want to experience Toscany and its History this is the perfect place. Beautiful view from the garden, Historical house and village and at night you still can see all the stars in the sky. Perfect locaction to explore Toscany. The beds are very comfortable and the house has all you need. There was only one thing we missed and that was something to keep the musquitoes out. The owners are very friendly and helpfull.

  • Podere Ferranino is pure magic. The most thought I have ever seen put into a vacation rental. Check in/ check out was very easy - we were delayed by a massive congestion but they were able to accommodate. Location is amazing too - 20 mins from montalcino. Our entire family had a great time and cannot wait to be back.

  • What an oasis! It was HOT while we were there (late June 2019) and the pool and AC made for a great way to relax after exploring the numerous mountain towns in the area. San Giovanni d’Asso, Montepulciano, Siena, Pienza, San Quirico d’Orcio... all breathtakingly beautiful and within a 10-40 minute drive. My family of 6 (including 3 teen boys!) had plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy. Great, great place to stay for a relaxing week in Tuscany.

  • More wonderful than I would have imagined. Bright and open layout. The design inside and outside of the property is exceptional. The kitchen and dining area is spacious yet efficient. The pool is delightful and again the design is aesthetically pleasing. Beds are comfortable. The host is helpful and charming. The restaurants in the town are excellent and the location of the property is great for exploring neighboring towns.

  • Very nice apartment on the first floor of a beautiful house, with access to a garden with a wonderful view on the tuscanian hills and panorama. Angela and Alessandro are wonderful hosts, caring and reactive. This made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable.

    Bruno2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Angela's home is the most wonderful place in all of Tuscany. Everything - in and out of the house - gives you the impression as if you were at home. Charming furnishings, antique furniture in the rooms, even all the small details everywhere create a typical and very welcoming Tuscan atmosphere. The panoramic view is incredible. To say honestly, it is not a place to relax alone. It's a place to dream! I never wanted to leave it. Next time I come for at least a month. Thank you, dear Angela, who gave us such a magical experience in your home!

  • The apartment is located high on the hills of Tuscany and offers a fantastic view of the countryside. At night you can even see the Milky Way, so isolated is one. The apartment is very nicely decorated, offers a lot of space and was very clean! Angela and her husband gave us a very nice welcome and were very accommodating. The garden was especially good for our little daughter :) Although you live secluded you are very fast in the next town for shopping. Also you can reach the surrounding sights very fast! Tip: get up early and admire the sunrise in Val d'Orcia! We'll be back!

    Sebastian & Diana2018-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a week at Angela’s house. She and her husband gave us a warm welcome with cookies, a cold beer and some tips on what to do/see. Communication before and during our stay was very friendly and fast, too. The house is located in a beautiful landscape with awesome views in all directions. It’s an old and authentic building which gives you a true Tuscany experience. Good choice!

    Thomas2018-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house is in a great location. You can drive to major villages in 30minutes and to Siena in an hour. The surrounding area was like we expected; traditional Tuscany style. But keep in mind that you’re renting the second floor of the house. You have use slightly steep steps to enter the house. The first floor was closed and I don’t know who’s staying in there. But you have the chance to use all garden. Also there is another house near this one; but I can say that, you have enough privacy. Briefly, I would definitely recommend this house...

    Özgür2018-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • The view from Angela's apartment On the Tuscan landscape is fantastic. Ideally located to enjoy all the beauty of Val d'Orcia. Angela gave us a lot of tips to help us discover the most beautiful sites in the region. She was very responsive to our questions. We loved these few days of vacation at Angela.

Casa Remo has an open space with living room with free wifi, big fireplace, an open view to Montalcino and surrounding hills. It is completed by a double bedroom, a twin bedded room, two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen.
Casa Remo (sleeps 4). This is one of the three units located in the heart of the hamlet. Comprised of a double bedroom, a twin bedded room, two bathrooms (one with bath tub, one with shower) living room with big fireplace and free wifi, fully equipped kitchen. This apartment looks onto the church square and has a beautiful view of Montalcino and surrounding countryside.
A tiny medieval hamlet in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, Lucignano d'Asso is home to Borgo Lucignanello, a group of historic houses which have been transformed into exclusive self-catering holiday apartments, ideal for those travelers eager to experience the very best of this, one of Italy's most loved regions. Borgo Lucignanello provides beautiful guest accommodation in five apartments and a farmhouse all of which characterized by a pleasing combination of modern day comfort and old world charm. In whichever house you choose to stay, you'll find everything you'll need for a dream holiday in Tuscany. For some six hundred years the hamlet has been the property of Piccolomini, an ancient family the name of which is linked to the history of the Italian Renaissance. Restored and transformed into a stunning period residence, Borgo Lucignanello is the perfect place in which to enjoy an exclusive vacation, in complete peace and tranquility. In this glorious Tuscan hideaway, guests while away the hours bathing in the sunshine by the panoramic swimming pool, participating in tastings of Borgo Lucignanello's extra virgin olive oil or a cooking class held by a local chef, or touring the historic wineries for which this area of Tuscany, in the province of Siena, is famous. If you've ever dreamt of getting married in Tuscany, with an entire village as location, then you'll fall head-over-heels in love with Borgo Lucignanello. Borgo Lucignanello hosts weddings and receptions for as many as 80 guests (40 of whom can be accommodated in the resort's apartments). Catholic marriage services can be celebrated in the hamlet's Church of San Biagio or in the equally enchanting Church of San Pietro in Villore, in nearby San Giovanni d'Asso. For civil weddings, the mayor of San Giovanni d'Asso marries couples in a beautiful, frescoed room in the town hall. Symbolic ceremonies and simple blessings can be performed in the location of your choice: including Lucignano d'Asso's charming little private chapels. Depending on the number of guests and the type of reception chosen (sit-down meal, buffet, aperitif etc.), wedding parties can be held in the garden of the Casale Sarageto or on the terrace by the swimming pool.
  • We stayed at four in Casa Remo, on the days at the turn of the new year 2019/2020. The apartment is beautiful and spacious. The living room in particular is very comfortable, with sofas and a huge fireplace. The house is treated in detail and the kitchen is really well equipped. We loved the welcoming, with everything you need to have breakfast and two bottles of wine, plus a panettone! Thanks so much. The village is splendid and peaceful, and a good starting point for excursions to Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano ... The reception was perfect and they all proved very helpful. Thank you. Back!

    Andrea2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a picture perfect place to stay in Tuscany. We were very impressed by both the size of the apartment, as well as the well thought-out basics that are provided for you (e.g., coffee, bread, milk, juice, two bottles of wine). The location is also great for wine lovers. We were able to do a full day of tasting in Montalcino and make it back to the apartment with plenty of time for happy hour. The only disappointing part of the stay was that it was not during the Summer. The pool with a 360 view of the surrounding country looks to be worth the price alone.

Well located for visiting Tuscany. Very easy with our seven month old daughter. The road of 4 km to reach the house seems impressive the first times then one gets used to it! A big thank-you !

  • A paradise in Tuscany! The perfect place if you are looking for peace. Spacious property with large pool and scenic views. With much love prepared and cultivated, colorful garden. The cottage is ideal for four people with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large living and dining area. There is a private terrace with a dining table and a Jacuzzi, which we have used extensively. Do not trust GoogleMaps when approaching but use Alessandra's directions. You still have a long dirt road in front of you. Cristoforo was a great help on arrival! Thanks to Cristoforo and Alessandra for the warm welcome, the helpful tips and the effort to have a nice holiday. We felt very comfortable and like to come back!

  • We will keep an excellent memory of 'La Capana', with its panoramic and idyllic view of the Tuscan countryside. After our busy days visits, we enjoyed the evening pool and jacuzzi. A tip, do not forget to buy 'bread' before returning to the cottage ... the last 4km are a bit difficult!

An authentic agritourismo with a total of seven apartments in the heart of the Crete Senesi and near Montalcino, an area that is known for white truffles and Pecorino cheese. Apartment La Verbena has charming Tuscan furnishings and there is a typical open fireplace in the living room. It is an ideal base for people who want to spend their holidays in a relaxed atmosphere, near the beautiful cities of Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano and Siena. The owners have set up this agritourismo with much care, with holiday apartments, a restaurant with Tuscan and Sardinian specialities and a sheep farm. It is wonderful to take a look at how the goat cheese, Pecorino, is made, and in the neighbouring shop you can buy the cheese. Layout: On the 1st floor: (Living room(TV, fireplace), open kitchen, bedroom(single bed, double bed), bedroom(single bed, double bed), bathroom(shower, washbasin, toilet, bidet)) terrace(private), garden(shared with other guests), garden furniture, BBQ, swimming pool(shared with other guests, 16 x 10 m., opened from Jun upto and including Sep)
  • Lovely location on a working sheep farm, the farm house was in a good condition and met all of our needs. We were able to make use of the open fire in the evening as it was Autumn, though still warm and sunny during the day. The roaming sheep dogs and donkeys were very friendly, as were there hosts and family restaurant. The restaurant food was delicious, especially the pecorino cheese made on the farm and the suckling pig.

  • The room is clean. And we have really great dinner and breakfast. As a Chinese the food here suites our tastes. However, the top roof and the view from there is an important reason why I book this BNB and it is under construction according to The workers who are attracted by the roof, confirm with the host before you book it. Also, the air conditioner is allowed to be open from July in summertime. It is cool at night in June but a little bit hot during day Time. The room was very clean, the dinner and breakfast were delicious and suitable for Chinese taste. However, the roof of their home is not open, the staff said that it is because of the renovation, so if you are also looking at the roof is very beautiful, first confirm with the staff that they can not open, in the room can not see the scenery under the mountain. The staff said that the air conditioner will not be open until July, and it will be cool in June, but it will be hot during the day. You need to pay attention.

  • We stayed in this B & B only one night. The room was perfect for two for just one night. The restaurant inside the hotel is very nice and the dishes are delicious, the same thing can be said of breakfast. The staff is young and very helpful. The location and the village of Castelmuzio are worth 5 stars! We will be back!

  • Very quiet town, the way to drive. There is a free parking area not far from the accommodation. The toilet is smaller than expected, and the exhaust fan sounds loud. Breakfast is great! The owner is very good! A place of great love~

  • B&B Casalmustia is a real gem in the heart of Tuscany! Our vacation there was like a fairy-tale, as we were waking up with the sound of the town bells and the aroma of freshly baked croissants and delicious coffee and in the evenings our sleep was accompanied by the song of the crickets. Paola, Julia, Simone and Mateo are always smiling and ready to fulfill every request you have. They arranged a mountain-bike rental for us at a really good price and they made us feel very special during our romantic dinner at their private terrace where the views over Val d'Orcia are breath-taking. We would definitely recommend B&B Casalmustia as it has a strategic location, quiet and cozy atmosphere, delicious local food and amazing staff. A big THANK YOU and hope we can visit it again soon! :)

  • Words cannot describe how fantastic this property is. The location is stunning with beautiful views, in a very private corner of Tuscany. The facilities are fantastic, with a private pool, amazing gardens with lots of private spots to enjoy the views or have a communal meal with family. The kitchen is great for a real foodie to prepare meals from. The living areas are spacious with lots of dining / relaxing areas, as well as fantastic bedrooms to accommodate all size groups. The hosts are fantastic with constant communication ensuring our stay was perfect. Easy to get to within central Tuscany, great for exploring other towns/ cities such as Siena & Montepulciano. There is adequate parking for several cars. This is by far the most impressive property we have stayed at in Italy (we have stayed in many) and everyone in our group were over the moon with the property!

  • We had the most wonderful, memorable week at La Fornace! The house is amazing and has everything you need and is in a perfect location for exploring Montalcino. We would highly recommend Alessandra for food, she catered a joint 30th/60th birthday party for us at the house and it was all perfect! We also did a private cooking class with her which was fantastic and would highly recommend. Thank you to all for the most fantastic week! We will be back!

  • I hesitate writing this review because I really don't want the word to get out...that this place is magical! We were absolutely stunned when we arrived at the sheer beauty of this property and the surrounding views. The gardens were gorgeous, the interior design was impeccable, the pool was lovely and refreshing, and all the different outdoor communal spaces provided a peaceful, relaxing spot to either sip, snack, (or devour!) all the local fare and wine. Communication was remarkable. All of our pre-arrival questions were addressed very quickly, and our on site host/manager Claire was also very responsive and helped coordinate dinner reservations, an in-house chef, and even a babysitter for our last night. :) We only wish we had more time here. It truly all felt like a dream! Thank you!

Even the inn's cuisine is excellent: I ate one evening for dinner and the Fiorentina steak was excellent! Recommended for an introspective holiday in the beauty and tranquility of Val D'Orcia

  • We both and our 2 children felt very well and quiet in Angela's pleasant and warm house with amazing Tuscany views! Thanks to her recommendations and being centrally placed in Val d'Orcia we visited and appreciated that beautiful region dotted with plenty of pretty villages and inspiring nature. That is in fact the problem with these trips: we want to come back!... and until then we just can strongly recommend others to enjoy it too!

  • We had a wonderful time at Angela. His house was of authentic Tuscan spirit. A stone house on a hill with a beautiful view of the landscape. At night you see a lot of stars. We were quiet, surrounded by nature, we toured in villages not far away such as Montepulciano, Monticchiello, San Quirico d'Orcia, Bagni San Filippo and Terme do Saturnia (for thermal water), Sorano and Pitigliano (of villages built on rocks), Siena (the capital of the region) and finally Castiglione Della Pescaia for bathing. Thank you very much for a perfect stay!

  • The house of Angela is wonderful is located in Montechiari in the middle of the Val D'Orcia. Angela and her husband were super friendly and waited for us with a cake, with basic cooking elements. The house is beautiful all the details taken care of, incredibly clean. They even left us all ready to use the grill, we could use the washing machine which was very useful. Arriving at the house every day was a haven of peace. The view is the best we saw on our entire trip through Tuscany. I definitely recommend it. And if we go back to Tuscany I hope to be able to stay here. Pay attention to the heating fee: we stayed in mid-April the nights were cool 8 degrees and we had to use the heating because the large house is cold (we only turned it on at night) after 5 nights we had to pay 135 euros for the use of gas, in winter the gas you use for everything (heating, washing dishes, bathing and cooking) is charged. Gas is not included in any way, so they told us that cost in summer is not charged. The house of Angela is located in Montechiari in the middle of the Val D'Orcia. • Angela's place is a true gem in the Tuscan countryside. The apartment is spacious and cozy and the view is incredible. We loved spending time in the gardens having breakfast and watching the sunset and the fireplace inside kept the house cozy during the chilly early spring nights. Angela and Alessandro also stopped by several times to check on us, as well as their daughter Adele. And Angela was kind enough to bake us a cake for our visit and stock the refrigerator with milk and orange juice. It was also a great location as it was less than an hour from Siena, Pienza, Montepulciano, and other small towns. We loved our time here and hope to return one day!

  • Beautiful centrally located home. Up in the hills of Tuscany, with breath taking views in every direction. Our host were incredible, helping plan our visits, making reservations. Saw some unexpected and incredible cities in the Hills of Tuscany traveling every direction from this home. Wine tasting, local cheese making farm, friendly locals! We wanted a true Tuscan experience and we found it here. We return in a heart beat !!

  • We spent a wonderful time in this nice and large country home. It is located on top of a hill in the wonderful tuscan landscape. The house has a big living room with an open kitchen area, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. There are two terraces, one in west- and one in east-direction. You have an unbelievable view over the tipical tuscan landscape. This house is a really impressing and unique treasure, equipped with typical antique furniture. It is technically complete renovated with everything you need. Angela and Allessandro are wonderful and warmhearted hosts supported by their nice and competent daughter. We love to remember our wonderful time in Angelas house and we can recommend it any time.

  • Angela's place is a rustic hilltop villa with beautiful tuscan views. It's centrally located in a lovely area but is on a rural property so far away from noise. The furnishings are simple but very adequate and add to the rustic charm. We had a delightful stay and would return at any opportunity.
