Modern,self-catering studio in countryside location within easy access to town/transport links. Furnished to a v. high standard, with lovely little extras, outdoor patio space, all set within a lovely smallholding. Genuine listing from a Superhost!
Perfect for exploring the Blackdown Hills, the Quantocks, Jurassic Coast and surrounding areas, The Holt is a small but perfectly formed contemporary studio attached to a lovely barn conversion in Churchinford. The listing states 4 - please note that it will accommodate 2 adults very comfortably, 2 adults and 2 small children comfortably if you are not planning to be indoors all day. It will not accommodate 4 adults. It provides everything one might need for long weekend/short break or holiday. The Holt is fully furnished - big fluffy fluffy towels and bedlinen are provided, shampoo/conditioner and shower gel are provided and there is also a hairdryer. . There is an Elfin kitchen area which offers a sink, fridge (with small freezer compartment), double hob and microwave and storage space for food. It has kettle/toaster and basic kitchen cooking equipment, crockery and utensils for 4. It has a double sofa, TV/DVD player and a desk in a living area, a wonderful en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower and there is a wardrobe with plenty of clothes storage. The king size sleeping area is on a mezzanine so not suitable for people that do not like sleeping at heights, have limited mobility or are large framed as the area is under the roof. There is also a double sofa bed which is 'sleep ready' in seconds. There is underfloor heating, plenty of hot water and unlimited wireless included. The Holt is only available as self-catering. Fresh eggs are available on site.
Churchinford is a glorious rural village at the heart of the Blackdowns. The village has a fabulous community shop which supplies everything one might need - food, drink, papers, fresh local produce. It also has a great local pub serving food and local beers. Both shop and pub are within walking distance. Although rural you can get to Taunton in 15 minutes for some town life (and the M5) and the A303/A30 is 3 minutes away. South coast (Lyme Regis) is a half hour car trip and the beautiful beaches of North Devon under an hour - perfectly placed for all sorts of exploring! Or you can just walk out of the front door and you're on a lovely walk or adventure. The Holt is also a perfect stopover for those travelling with their families to Cornwall and want to break up their journey.
  • We really loved staying at The Holt. It is a compact place but you have nearly everything you could need for a short stay! Lots of lovely little touches. We would happily stay again.

  • We are so pleased that we picked The holt to stay at for our New Years break. It was just what we needed! The space was so quaint modern clean and welcoming! It had everything we needed and more. Communications where excellent and nothing was too much trouble! The location was so peaceful and it was actually heaven to be separate from our phones and be a family! Thank you so having us!

  • A super space if you’re looking to get away from it all - a little home from home!!

    Greg2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for our lovely stay at the Holt, we came for a quiet and easy night away before Christmas madness and loved our cosy hideaway. Gorgeous setting and had everything you needed! Easy to find with directions provided. Pub was a 2 minute walk up the road and lots of beautiful walks nearby. Nicola had left loads of tips for days out just a shame we only had 24hrs! Would recommend and would happily stay again 😊

    Ailidh &2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect for a cosy, relaxing retreat with lovely long walks from the door and a great pub just a short walk away. The dog loved it too. We arrived quite late so were delighted to find Nicola had left us fresh milk, tea and coffee etc. We would definitely recommend it and hope to return.

  • Had a great stay, very homely and clean.

    Sibylle2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Holt is a fantastic little bolt-hole in a great location. Everything was spotless, the check-in process was super easy and Nicola was so friendly and helpful. Lots of really helpful touches were appreciated, a really comfy bed and piping hot power shower were just what was needed after a long drive. WiFi worked fine and the setting was peaceful and very pretty. We had everything we needed for a great stay, everyone at the nearby York Inn (walkable from the Holt) were also so friendly and we had a lovely breakfast there. Thank you so much and we hope to be back again sometime.

  • We Loved our long weekend stay at Beverleys accomodation. Location is quiet with beautiful views but not far from all major routes so it was easy to find. Beverley was so helpful with tips on local places to eat & local walks. Animals on the farm are very friendly, especially the cats. Hot tub was a real treat. Comfy bed & everything you could need in accomodation. Would thoroughly recommend staying here

  • Great place for piece and quite beautiful views

    Paula2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly and accommodating welcome. Place was tidy, clean and had everything we needed. In a lovely setting with a lovely view.

    Dan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice cottage in the middle of nowhere, would definitely recommend if you would like some peace and quiet. The hot tub was amazing 👌 extremely nice and outstanding host, didn’t hesitate to offer her help when needed (we forgot milk). Pictures could have been better but it was a nice surprise to see the place in real life. *****

    Joshua2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean comfortable private accommodation, hot tub under the stars with lovely countryside views, Beverley a great host nothing too much trouble to make your stay special

    Gary2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the house, the setting is stunning and the hot tub under the stars is perfect even in January! Beverley looked after us so well, and the animals are super friendly.

    Julia2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Such a fab place! I'd looked online for log cabins with hot tubs but there wasn't the option to stay for 1 night only and they were SO expensive. Pretty glad I found Beverley's place on air bnb! So much better than a log cabin! A beautiful 1 bed guest house with a huge bedroom and bed. So warm and snuggly and lots of Christmassy touches which was cute. The hot tub was... INCREDIBLE!! Plus lots of animals around outside which we loved. We will definitely be returning!!

    Kerry2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time, Beverley was very welcoming and explained everything and the view was stunning. It was a shame we only had one night and no time to explore locally as it all looked so beautiful.

Dip your toes into the rural 1950's with a stay in our comfy, fully refurbished, airfloat caravan. Set in its own private garden with bbq area , outdoor fire pit and dining table. Collect eggs fresh from the chickens and don't forget to pet the pigs!
This is a really unusual caravan that we imported from the States a few years ago and have tastefully restored. We moved on to our land in it 7 years ago - but have since moved into our converted barn and rent this space out. It is a vintage ( 1957) Airfloat - a rival to the more common 'Airstream'. 1957 was their 25th year of production so all their trailers made that year were anodised in GOLD!! It has a large (for a caravan) bedroom at one end with shower and basin but it has a dividing door and also a double sofabed at the other end if you need to sleep kids - or have had a row! The toilet is a short, OUTSIDE , walk away in our utility block where and we also have another larger shower, washing machine , dryer, deep freeze and microwave. We have 5 kune kune pigs and 2 jacob sheep, chickens ( a cockerel!) cats and dogs. We try to make our small holding as interactive as possible and all our animals are very friendly and safe for children to interact with - under parental supervision. Our veg is available on a seasonal basis and is all organic - even our eggs! Enjoy! ;) PLEASE NOTE - FOR GROUPS OF 4 OR MORE we have a small caravan you can rent if you would like a bit more privacy and don't want to use the sofa bed . If there's more than more than 4 of you then you will HAVE to use this caravan so PLEASE BE AWARE OF THAT ! It has electricity, a TV and its own cooking facilities for cups of tea in the mornings It will only be rented out in conjunction with the larger caravan. It’s free if you book more than 4 people and a £10/night supplement if you’re just using it as an additional space . Tents can also be pitched in the garden of the airfloat caravan or if there’s lots of you then we have an overspill field and tents will be charged £5/night PLEASE NOTE In holiday time it is offered on a min booking of 2 nights though there's a 20% discount if you book for 7 nights - (the price will be automatically be adjusted by airbnb) . On one Sunday or sometimes a Monday, each month, our local banger racing stadium in Smeatharpe hosts a demolition derby or banger racing. Depending on which way the wind is blowing sometimes you can hear the cars quite loudly - Not one of my guests has ever complained about this - some even go to the races, but I always feel bad about the disruption to our normally tranquil setting and will try to warn you if your booking should fall over one of these days. ( I don't always know til too late!) Children aged 5 and under are free so don't include them in the booking - but do tell me in a message ! Basic breakfast things are provided for purchase at cost price .
We are right on the Somerset/Devon / Dorset border in an area of outstanding natural beauty known as 'the Blackdown hills' . We're right on top of the hill so it can be a bit windswept in the winter but you get lovely skies if its clear. The location is generally very peaceful but not so remote that you cant access a shop and a pub within 10 minutes- oh and our mobile phones mostly work! Taunton, Honiton, Wellington and Chard are all 8 miles from us. The Jurassic coast at Lyme Regis is only a 1/2 hr drive away. Though the quieter beaches of Bere and Branscombe closer still and arguably more beautiful! Diggerland is only 25 mins away and popular with smaller children. The pretty university town of Exeter is only 40 mins away with Bristol a fairly accessible 70 mins away. The true beauty however, lies in the much ignored , often bypassed , local area that has many beautiful walks in ancient beech forests, quirky pubs and colourful locals. We have lots of leaflets in the caravan detailing the hidden gems of the Blackdown hills but also lots of different inside or outside games if you d just prefer to stay and relax at home.
  • Clare could not have been more helpful....she even checked we hadn't fallen in a ditch whilst out cycling after dark! The place was fantastic and would definitely love to stay again. So many thoughtful touches.

    Bethan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Clare's caravan is in an idyllic spot, we absolutely loved our stay in the brilliantly decorated caravan, it's even better than the pictures!! Clare was a fantastic host, excellent and fast communication. My boys adored the animals and the caravan, and Clare had the place all toasty for when we arrived. The eggs for breakfast were delicious!! Loved it! Hope to return soon, thanks Clare :)

    Scott2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A terrific place to stay! Even in the midst of a storm we were so cosy because of the gorgeous log burner and had a brilliant time The caravan is so well equipped and the addition of the option to buy breakfast bits at cost was great We didn't get a chance to use the fire pit or bbq due to the weather (and it was February!) but the setting was ideal We'd love to come back!

    Catherine2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing and unique place to stay! So many really cool features and extras you wouldn’t expect. The wood burner was super cosy and the fresh eggs were so tasty! Really loved staying there (even through a big old storm!) and couldn’t recommend it highly enough!

    Barry2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Nice little caravan, very cosy.

    Daniel2020-02-09T00:00:00Z

    Ellie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Everything you expect and so much more. It was a real pleasure to be hosted by Clare and the caravan was cosy, warm and inviting. Gutted we couldn’t have a longer break and explore the beautiful countryside on it doorstep further.

    Stephen2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Well provisioned caravan, very roomy and very welcoming group of animals - dogs, kune kune’s, chickens. Lovely site out in the rural area - ideal to relax away from city life.

Very nice little self catering (or with breakfast if you prefer) chalet house for holidays in the Blackdown Hills. On the picturesque grounds of a westcountry smallholding with a swimming pool.
Real peace and quiet but easy to get to. Flexible hosts and a good breakfast provided if you want it.
The Blackdown Hills are very unspoilt and great for walks, wildlife and some good pubs
  • Highly recommended beautiful location

  • Quiet, rural retreat. Loved the artistic decor and the natural surroundings

  • A beautiful space to relax and slow down. Excellent suggested walks and map provide wonderful day trips and a welcoming home to retire to

    Joe2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to get away to. Very peaceful at night and Judith made us feel very welcome. Our Golden Retriever also loved the stay with lots of area to roam about in. Lovely little find for a few days break.

    James2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • A quiet area. Highly recomended. Good place for rest.

    Sebastian2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cosy space perfect for a quiet getaway. The log fire will happily heat the place in a short time. Friendly dog on site who likes scratches behind the ears and free parking on site. Be prepared to drive a short distance done a single track road with no passing places to arrive. I also liked how close the property is to a little supermarket in the village, considering it’s location. Will be returning in future.

    Chris2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a truly wonderful stay. The place is nicely tugged away - very quiet and tranquil with some amazing hikes just around the corner (way more than we could walk in the time we were there). The place itself is very comfortable, with a well-working fire place and a good-sized, well-maintained pool. The kitchen had everything we needed. It's a great place to go to if you need some peace and quiet to unwind. We highly recommend this place and will try ourselves to go back again.

    Esther2019-08-18T00:00:00Z

  • The entertainment space was absolutely perfect and wonderful size and facilities in the house. Space is better than the photos show so even if it is raining you won’t feel compressed inside the house. The hosts were always on hand to help out, polite and really lovely. Highly recommend this house and will look to return. Only advice is to make sure that you get your food order sorted. If using Asda, be aware that you can do click and collect from Wellington but it gets delivered from Taunton first which caused a lot of confusion when the confirmation note came through. Alternatively, get the onsite chef to cook for you and remove all of the issues!!!

    Mark2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • we found the owner to be extremely helpful with advice about local vendors that enabled our family gathering to be catered for with exceptional quality food at very reasonable prices . The flexibility of the organisation enabled our family group of 14 from 3 to 60 and x2 dogs to be accommodated to cater for all needs. Nothing was too much trouble for the owner who was extremely passionate about her business. Having stayed in some of the finest hotels in the world this was a deviation for me but i was extremely pleasantly surprised at the quality, cleanliness and level of service received many thanks for making my partners 60th birthday celebration a memory for all!

They even includes props and games and DVD’s if you want to watch movies by their lovely fireplace The check out time is 12pm but the host was so kind to let us check out late , which was much appreciated Overall we had a great experience staying there. Great host. Would definitely recommend :x

  • The Lakehouse looked fantastic from the pictures but it's even better in person - an incredibly stylish space in a lovely setting but also comfortable with tons of room (we had 13 for a 30th birthday). Also really handy from the motorway which was a bonus. Fiona was brilliant and couldn't have been more helpful - very quick to respond to any queries, everything was clear and the house had thoughtful touches throughout. It was an absolute pleasure meeting her, Spencer and the Newfoundlands too!

    Niall2019-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was probably the best AirBnB experience we’ve ever had. Context: Me and 13 of my friends, decided to spend one night at Fiona’s Lake House. We drove from London. Pre-Stay: Fiona was more than helpful and receptive prior to our stay. Everything was extremely clear in terms of location, procedures, house rules and nearby facilities (e.g. supermarkets, gas stations, etc). On top of that, she gave us great restaurant and pitstop recommendations for the drive. She also advised us on what to see in the house’s surroundings. During Stay: Fiona made sure we got to the house safely, she was extremely nice upon arrival giving us a super fun house tour and making conversation with everyone. Fiona made us love the place before we even stayed there. She gave us directions to get to wherever we wanted to and then gave us absolute space while providing us with her phone number in case we needed anything. The House: I cannot stress enough on how nice the house is. It is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for groups looking to escape their everyday lives and just disconnect. The surroundings are gorgeous, extremely well-maintained. The house is perfect, has all required amenities and is just gorgeous. It was common consensus that we would absolutely come back. When leaving: We were having car troubles at check-out. Fiona was incredible, didn’t leave us one second and made sure she could do everything she could to make sure we were okay. She was following up and extremely present throughout the process. All in all, I ABSOLUTELY recommend this place. Fiona is amazing, the facilities are out of this world. A definite 10/10 experience.

    Anne2019-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t recommend this venue enough! The barn is beautiful, great location, great facilities and just an amazing place for a hen party! Fiona is an amazing host. Always responded straight away to any emails and is so helpful and thoughtful! We had a great stay and hope to visit again in the summer!

    Bianca2018-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at The Lake House for my boyfriend's 30th birthday party with 12 of our friends. The whole experience was amazing, the house is so beautiful and blows you away as soon as you step inside, all of the décor is stylish and there is lots of space for partying and dancing. The huge table is perfect for having meals together (and playing beer pong!). There is also a dressing up box which was hilarious fun, look out for the inflatables which our party left behind! :D Fiona is a lovely host who welcomes you into 'your' house and makes you feel very at home, everything is well explained and ran very smoothly throughout. This is 100% a 5**** rated property and the price is so worth the stay, we want to come back again every month! Everyone at our party was so thrilled to have been invited to such a cool weekend away!

The cottage has a lovely feel, with wood burner and Aga. Rural, but easy access from the M5, and parking for two cars. Fabulous place to use as a base for good walking & exploring the South West. A car is necessary & a desire to be off the beaten track, although good food & beers a 10-15 min walk to the village. Large rooms, comfortable furnishings, quality linens. Fully self contained with central heating and everything that you would need to make an enjoyable break.
A quiet cottage attached to Walders Court, a grade II listed property dating from the 1600's. Used as the setting for the novelist R.D. Blackmore's novel, Perlycross, he being more famous as the author of Loorna Doone. Private and tucked away with your own entrance. Ideal for those needing a stopover, easy access from M5, J26 or J27, or those seeking a base to explore. Excellent walking, and a short 45-60 minute drive to Exmoor and Dartmoor. Entrance is via a flag path that leads from the parking area to the front stable door of the Cottage. The front door leads directly into the kitchen/dining area. This is a spacious room, equiped with an Aga for cooking and warmth, (separate heating system on thermostat to ensure the cottage stays warm) dishwasher, and washing machine, plenty of cupboard storage and a small fridge freezer. A kitchen table, large enough to seat six completes the area. An open staircase leads from the kitchen to the upstairs bedroom. The bedroom overlooks the entrance courtyard and the entrance gate. Furnished simply, with a 5' bed, comfortable mattress & quality linens. En-suite bathroom, with bath, washbasin and toilet. Returning to the kitchen. From the kitchen, three shallow steps lead you into a small open plan cloakroom area, with storage for coats and shoes. Access to the ground floor shower room and toilet is located here. The cloakroom leads to the living area. The living area is a light and airy space, with a small woodburning stove. It is furnished with a two seater settee, and a two seater pull out bed settee. Television and wifi access available in the living area. Please note - we are a rural community with slow broadband speeds. If you wish to stream movies, the broadband often fails. It is reliable for emails and other applications that need less speed. Outside, access from the front door is the small side garden. This is for your sole use while you are at the cottage. The garden is surrounded by a shrub hedge, beyond which is a country lane. As the season progresses the garden becomes more private and secluded as the shrubs become leafy. During the winter the garden is more exposed due to the nature of this hedge. BBQ and fire pit available for your use. Points to note. The ground floor living room can be easily used as a bedroom, with the shower room close by. The lounge opens from the cloakroom area, and although there are no doors, because of the dogleg style, there is privacy if it is to be used as a sleeping area. The main bedroom is accessed from the open plan stairs that lead from the kitchen, so any noise from the kitchen will be easily heard from the bedroom. Some windows, overlook the courtyard of the main house. These will not affect the privacy of the Cottage, as you cannot see into the Cottage from the courtyard. Finally, for those very tall, (over 6ft) the shower is fairly compact due to restricted ceiling height - feedback from guests are that the shower area is more than adequate for tall persons!
We live at the foot of the Blackdown Hills in Devon. We sit underneath The Beacon, a short 10-15 minute hike up the hill to a fabulous 400 year old ancient monument used to call all good men and true, to arms, to ward off the Spanish invasion. The Blackdowns are one of the Westcountry's hidden gems, forming a tranquil, beautiful, and relatively isolated landscape on the Devon and Somerset border. Steep ridges, high plateau, valleys and springs create a charming mosaic of countryside dotted with farms, villages and ancient features. We are a 15-20 minute walk from our local village, where you can find The Culm Valley Inn, renowned for it's locally sourced food, real ales and lively atmosphere, a true village pub. Crossing the ancient packhorse bridge will bring you along to the Strand Stores, great for a good cup of tea and slice of cake, all home made, with lots of goodies to take away. We are equal distance between the North and South Devon Coastline. An hours journey can take you to the delights of these shores, into the moors of Dartmoor and Exmoor. Slightly further afield is the Eden project, but very accessible as a day trip. If you are a National Trust member, we have several properties on our doorstep for you to explore. Full details of what you can find are in our 'Welcome Pack & Information' on arrival
  • Very comfortable and warm, delightful hosts, an Aga to cook on.

  • A great place for a peaceful and relaxing weekend break. This is a lovely cottage - very welcoming and comfortable - in a good location. Rosie was very accommodating and friendly.

    Jacki2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Rosie's cottage - it's the perfect mix of being off the beaten track but also with good amenities nearby (pub and shop/deli within walking distance, as well as other pubs, shops and points of interest a drive away). We visited Exmouth which is a 30 minute drive away, and would recommend a walk up to Culmstock beacon and also to the Tarr Steps in Exmoor. The cottage was cosy, clean and kitchen well equipped. Thanks Rosie!

  • The cottage Is spacious yet cosy. Beautifully decorated with everything you could need. We loved using the aga for cooking and the woodburner on the cold nights. Clean, comfortable and quiet. A wonderful place for a quiet getaway. Perfect.

  • We had a 4 night break here, with 5 boys (aged 8 -12) it was beautiful house, with stunning views. Despite storm Dennis, we enjoyed the hot tub every day. There are so many outdoor and indoor activities that the boys were fully entertained and we had little need to go anywhere else. The kitchen is beautifully equipped, wanting for nothing during the stay. Highly recommend holiday. The icing on the cake was a beautifully made Victoria sponge on arrival 😀 thank you Cath

    Pippa2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely family weekend away in February to celebrate a birthday. The house was very spacious and clean and had all that we needed. Cath was very friendly and helpful. Would love to come back again.

    Jessica2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A huge house with lots of space and 2 games rooms! Views from the lounge and dining room are incredible.

    Adam2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Cath’s place was a lovely stay for me and a group of friends. We loved sitting round the fire watching movies and the views from the hot tub were lovely! We are missing it already!

    Beverley2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very great place, the pictures don't do it justice, amazing views from all areas of the house and the hot tub was perfect and all the other games and bits available kept us entertained all day. Would definitely stay here again.

  • A wonderful place for a relaxing break. Lovely cottage with lots of room for the whole family. The views are beautiful and the house is great!

    Sophie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • A great space for a large group. Lovely views too.

    Rosie2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We all absolutely loved our holiday and would highly recommend it to friends and family and would love to stay again. It was much bigger than what I thought it was going to be which was lovely for our 18 week old to have a quiet nap whilst everyone else could talk and the other children could play with no worries. The hot tub was amazing and relaxing the views were stunning and we were made to feel very welcome.

10 minutes from the M5 and an easy drive to both North and South Devon coasts (30-45 mins) The Shed is a set in a secluded part of our garden with beautiful views across the fields and a view of the Culmstock Beacon. It is separate from the house with an en suite shower and toilet, a small kitchen area with fridge-freezer and a patio for your exclusive use. It has underfloor heating. Perfect for couples but a double pull out bed can be provided for children. It has TV and WIFi.
The Shed is a new build that offers peace and quiet in a beautiful setting. Tea and coffee are provided along with basic cooking equipment. Breakfast is not provided but, at your request, we can supply basics such as fresh bread, marmalade, butter and locally sourced eggs for your arrival. If you don’t feel like getting your own breakfast there is an excellent café/deli 3 minutes walk away that does a very satisfying breakfast. Also excellent for lunch! The local riverside pub is a short 5 minutes’ walk through the village and serves very good food both at lunch time and in the evenings. There are plenty of great walks, or just simple strolls along the river. For cyclists, this is an idyllic location. For example, Beer, on the Jurassic Coast is a 50 mile round trip – also Exmoor and Dartmoor are on the radar for enthusiastic cyclists. There are many shorter round trips to be enjoyed for those who do not want to go so far. Both my husband and I are keen cyclists and would be able to give help and advice on the best local rides. BIkes can be securely housed during your stay. Or simply come and relax, breath in the Devon air and enjoy the peace and quiet of the gorgeous countryside.
  • Moyra was so patience with our later than expected arrival. It was so lovely to be greeted by her and her friendly dog at that time. The shed is so welcoming and comfy we felt right at home as soon as we walked in. Well kitted out kitchen, lovely hot water and really helpful leaflets etc to hand. We had a super meal at The Culm Valley Inn which is a 5-minute walk and spent a day at Longdog Smithys learning how to forge steel - a super few days and will be back, thank you so much.

    Samantha2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot put into words how wonderful the Luxury Shed is. It exceeded all my expectations and is quite simply the best AIRBNB place I have ever stayed in.

    Anna2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I rented this property for two of my employees working in the area, who have reported back to me how lovely the place is. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and had everything they needed. Thanks for letting my lads stay Moyra, excellent host.

  • Beautiful quaint and secluded “shed” for some much needed rest and relaxation. Would recommend this to anyone who wants a quiet weekend away. The local pub is a must visit for food and drink. Very friendly host and locals! (:

  • I have to start with the host, who has been an absolute delight, Moyra and her husband made us very welcome. The place is so zen and the area is calm, the neighbourhood is wonderful... Needless to say there is lots to visit in the area.. I hope we will go back. Thank you

Dairy Barn is a fabulous nineteenth century barn in the style of a terraced house, with many beautiful original features such as original beams and stunning new centrepieces like the Woodwarm freestanding multi-fuel burner, handcrafted in Devon. This four bedrooms property has been renovated to an exceptionally high standard and all rooms are furnished with flair, in an elegant modern rustic style with oak floorings and original beamed ceilings.
Arranged over three floors, upon entering the property there is a good sized hallway with boiler and under stairs storage cupboards, leading straight to the 4 bedrooms (3 with direct access to the gravel backyard and 2 with en-suite bathroom) and a good sized family bathroom with bath/powerful shower head. On the first floor, the open plan kitchen-diner is fully equipped and separated from the impressive and uplifting lounge. The mezzanine is accessed from the lounge and currently used as a relaxing snug and convenient home gym. There is a private backyard and a south facing garden with patio, furnished with rattan style table, chairs and 4 burners gas barbecue for those preferring to dine al fresco. Dairy Barn is located in Hemyock, the largest village on the Blackdown Hills, which is designated as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and contains many lovely churches, a lovely pub (5 minutes walk), supermarket (10 minutes walk), doctor surgery and plenty more. Hemyock is about 8 miles north-west of Honiton and 5 miles (8km) south of the Somerset town of Wellington, for those looking for a bit of retail therapy.
Hemyock is a beautiful village with a school, medical facilities, one garage, two hairdressers, one public house, one convenience store, one Post Office & store, two playing fields, a Parish Hall, a community centre and two churches.
  • Amazing place, very comfortable, lovely interior and with everything you could possibly need! Breakfast, eggs bread, cereal, milk and more provided which was fantastic. Lovely little town and a great place to have as a base to explore either countryside or seaside! Wonderful walks, views. The place was absolutely spotless too. Our two dogs also loved it! The local pub was great. We visited Seatown a lovely coastal town, great pub there too, Anchor Inn, and beautiful coastline. Tarr Steps, Exmoor, another great walk. Lots of walks in Hemyock....just take your wellies with all the recent rain...beautiful views! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

    Kerry2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Simply stunning! Beautiful place every but as gorgeous as the photos and lots of room. However if you like your sleep dont sleep under the lounge as boards are squeaky especially with little ones. The breakfast products were provided were brilliant...plenty of cereals, milk, bread, eggs and juice. The stock in the kitchen from oils and vinegars to herbs and spices, coffee maker, blender, kettle ....every imaginable utensil...we have done air bnb quite a number of times and never found a better equipped kitchen. Despite the comprehensive directions we arrived in the dark and did miss the entrance several times so be aware that there is no actual sign. However you will only find things to praise at this beautiful and very homely place

  • Just got back from an amazing 5 days, 4 nights at the Dairy Barn. The accommodation was just perfect for all 7 of us and our dog 🐶. We arrived late on the Friday night and having Elliot supply us with brekkie was a bonus👍. The layout of the Barn was great. The beds were all super comfy and the whole place was spotlessly clean. The layout of the kitchen/dining area was very social for us. We would love to come back to the Barn. Elliot has been the perfect host and I would highly recommend staying there.

    Kelly2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Elliot's place was spotlessly clean and well equipped, with lovely comfy beds. It was also lovely and warm, and the heating was very easily controlled. It was really useful having towels and toiletries supplied, and lots of lovely cereal, bread and eggs for breakfast. No shortage of toilet paper, cleaning supplies and tea towels etc, so no need to bring anything. There are lots of beautiful walks nearby so we didn't use the car the whole time we were there. As our stay was October we weren't bothered by the farm that has been mentioned in other reviews. The football table and PlayStation are a bonus if you aren't as lucky with the weather as we were. We would definitely love to stay again.

    Claire2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, well presented house with everything we needed. The breakfast supplies were a lovely and very handy touch (particularly as we had come from overseas!). We appreciated all of the helpful information about the house and surrounds. Thank you!

This cosy, spacious apartment forms part of The Old Butchers - a large property home to an arts and crafts studio. We are located in the heart of Uffculme, a pretty village with two pubs, a café, fish and chips bar and two local shops. The area is great for dog walking, hiking, fishing and cycling with the river Culm close by. Uffculme is close to junction 27 and mid distance between Exeter and Taunton with a nearby rail link at Tiverton Parkway.
The flat at The Old Butchers is a self-contained annexe with an entrance via the craft studio at the front of the property. Don’t feel shy about looking around the studio! You’re welcome to use the extra space for colouring or other crafty pastimes!
Our village has a square with a cafe and a Co-op where everyone parks! The centre features little cottages that meander through narrow roads, past a medieval church and down to the river Culm. An old working wool museum named Coldharbour Mill is just a short walk from the property down an old mineral line.
  • The flat is a beautiful well thought out space cosy and comforting, as in the way it's furnished. It is a good size and has everything you need for a nice relaxing stay. Lisa kindly supplied some food basics which is a very thoughtful and much appreciated touch. Lisa is a fantastic host very friendly and welcoming and its such a treat to be able to look at all the lovely art work as you pass through the studio. I'd highly recommend this place for a little get away or if you are needing to stop by the area. Local shop just a minute walk, cafe and chip shop also pub. So a great little location. I hope to be back again one day soon.

  • The apartment is really homely, extremely clean and very comfortable - it has everything you could possibly need for a weekend trip! We went for dinner the first night at the Ashill inn and it was delicious food, would definitely recommend. The accommodation does offer exceptional value for money and if you’re looking in this area I can’t imagine there’s a much better choice!

  • Lisa’s place is utterly charming. A gem, Sparklingly clean. Stylish eclectic and vintage decorative pieces, all combine to create cosy space with everything you need for a comfy stay. We stayed one night and it was absolutely perfect. Delicious sup at nearby Ashill Inn - smoked haddock scotch egg with curried mayonnaise so yummy. So lovely to have milk in fridge teabags and breakfast things Thankyou Lisa

  • I stayed in the apartment for one night whilst in the area for a working visit. It was ideal for me - a great location in a pretty village but well connected by road and train. It’s a really lovely, comfortable space and actually much more spacious than I was expecting. I only wish I could have stayed a few more nights! Highly recommended.

Grooms Cottage is in Churchinford, a small village in the heart of the beautiful Blackdown Hills (ANOB). Churchinford has a great pub 5 minutes walk away, it's busy and does good and reasonably priced food and real ales. There's a community shop/coffee shop/book swap. It's a very good area for walking and the cycling is challenging if you come off the ridge roads. It's about a 40 minute drive from the south coast and Exeter and 10 miles from Wellington, Taunton, Chard and Honiton.
I have two available bedrooms, bedroom 1 is triple aspect, large, airy and light. Bedroom 2 is small, just enough space for a double bed and a chest of drawers, suit children? I would only book bedroom 2 for family or close friends of the occupants of bedroom 1. The bathroom is modern and it will be all yours in the mornings and evenings, but I might use it in the middle of the day with your permission. My art studio is also upstairs so I could be working up there during the day. You are very welcome to use the sitting room with it's log burner and TV and sit in the porch and my yard. It will be a help yourself breakfast as the kitchen is very small - I will provide bread, cereals, muesli, yoghurt and fruit, herbal or builder's tea and coffee, and you're welcome to help yourself to tea and coffee whenever you like.
Churchinford is a small, friendly and very rural. Apart from the village shop and the pub, the village hall hosts monthly markets and films and as well as the usual yoga, palates and gardening clubs there are often theatrical events. It's very 'the archers'.
  • Lovely cottage in rural village. Friendly host. Given large room upstairs with extra bed for our son. Tea and coffee making facilities. Comfy bed. Clean room and bathroom. Excellent location for us as we were attending a party in the village. Loads of parking on the street. Offered breakfast in the morning too, but we had to get back to North Wales. Would definitely recommend.

  • We had fantastic night and was very well looked after by Jane. We only stayed one night but managed to get to the local pub which was great. We will definitely stay here again in the future.

    Barry2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Jane and her home are lovely. Good fast communication which was great as we were a late booking for 4. Great breakfast provided. Thanks Jane. 😀

    Liz2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jane made me and my children feel very welcome and was very hospitable. The cottage is beautifully presented; the nearby pub-restaurant that she recommended was also perfect. The kids loved her cats. We were very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Tom2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A welcome addition to Air BnB places to stay. Jane is wonderful, as is her lovely little cottage. Whoever stays there will not regret it. The cats are amazing and friendly, my kids were captivated. Actually, we all were. Jane greeted us on arrival, then gave us a little time to settle in. We cooked dinner while she popped out to the pub. Then we spent a rather pleasant evening sitting and nattering in front of the fire. Jane is an artist and it shows in her decor. The lounge is lovely, the kitchen is a classic cottage kitchen and the the bedrooms were extremely clean and tidy, as was the rest of the house. Myself, Jane and my kids went for a local walk in the morning to feed the chickens who provided our breakfast and take in some fresh air and nature. All I must say is that my wife pointed out that we felt so relaxed (Jane made us feel relaxed), that it felt like we were visiting friends or family, not a stranger. Five star experience for sure. Jonathan

The Roost is a new self-contained loft with its own secure garage below which borders pasture farmland. This small hamlet is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with no street lighting and stunning views across the Culm Valley. There are country walks from your door, with pubs nearby. Dogs are welcome, but please understand that sheep and cows need to live in peace in the field right next door.
The Roost is accessed via curved garden steps which lead to a stable door. The main room is spacious, light and airy with comfy sofa and dining table. Enjoy breakfast at the large balcony window opening straight onto the neighbouring fields. The contemporary and stylish kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, microwave, dishwasher and a fridge with small freezer compartment. The bathroom has a large walk-in power shower with twin heads. The roomy bedroom has fitted wardrobes with more field views to the nearby woods. We use ecological products as much as possible and reduce or recycle where we can. Outside, you have a private balcony and deck that is just perfect for sundowners. We start you off with a pint of local milk, teas, coffee and cereals but let us know if you would prefer non-dairy milk. Underneath the loft is a secure garage space with washer, dryer and sink. Just perfect for storing your bike or classic car, surfboards or boat.
Hemyock and Culmstock both have pubs that serve fabulous food, and there are many others just a few miles away. Breakfast at The Strand in Culmstock is highly recommended. There is a working woollen mill museum at Uffculme - 5 miles away and the tow-path of the peaceful Grand Western Canal is nearby.

  • We loved staying at the Roost, it was immaculate and had everything we needed for a lovely weekend away in the countryside. Chris and Karen were easy to communicate with and responded quickly to messages. They checked we had everything we needed after we had arrived and were available if we needed any advice on the area. Book this placed for a quiet countryside retreat! A great bolt hold for the area.

  • We had a lovely weekend away here just before Christmas. We went in to Exeter to do our Christmas shopping which isn’t far (40ish minutes away). The place is very clean and tidy. The views are amazing all around and we will definitely come back.

The Garden room is a very simple light warm space for two people, with its own bathroom and sitting space. Private access is via the garden gate with parking at the front of our house. You are welcome to share the garden, chickens, and our very bouncy dog Ruby. An excellent opportunity just off the M5 to enjoy the countryside, local pub (across the road), and friendly people. There are endless walks along the river often rewarded in seeing a kingfisher or maybe an otter.
The garden room has underfloor heating with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the birds in the garden. Although we are situated in the middle of the village the garden is very quiet. There is tea and coffee making equipment, plus a small fridge. I have recently added a desk to the room, making an excellent work space. The local pub and shop both sell excellent food, including a slap up breakfast; both are a very easy walk.
Culmstock is situated just off the M5 and is a brilliant stop over on any journey. Easy access to the south Devon coast, Exmoor and many other beautiful locations. If you wish to spend sometime exploring the countryside or just chilling out, it’s the place for you.
  • Lovely little room situated in Kay’s garden. Has everything you need for a short stay (bed, sofa, desk, kettle, fridge, en suit)...or a 2 week stay in my case! There were no cooking facilities in the room but I took my microwave with me. Kay was an amazing host, always happy to help...and Ruby their excitable dog was also very welcoming too. Overall, would definitely recommend as a place to stay in Culmstock.

    Lace2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, cosy place to stay. Bargain price, with a pub that does great food, barely 60 secs away, and a cafe for breakfast just a few minutes walk. Highly recommended

  • A lovely setting, peaceful and cosy. Kay is a great host and the Garden Chalet is very comfortable.

  • Great little place and thoughtful and welcoming host

    Sam2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kay's place is very clean and works well as a single room. The pub and local shop/cafe minutes away are excellent given there is no kitchen, so you can manage quite happily.

  • We stayed here for one night to break up our journey from Cornwall to Gloucester and it was perfect, lovely warm and clean little place to stay with everything you need. Kay is a lovely host. The area is also very pretty with a good pub directly opposite.

  • The Garden Room is a little gem - perfect for a couples’ night away and such a gorgeous setting in the lovely village of Culmstock. Kay was a great host and everything we needed was provided. This was such great value too, we would highly recommend! Thanks Kay xxx

  • The Garden Room, set in the grounds of the home of very friendly and helpful hosts Kay and Mark in Culmstock, close to the M5 and A38, near Somerset/Mid Devon border, is a perfect place for a short, rural stopover. The accommodation has a very comfortable bed, shower room, adjustable heating, if required, a small fridge and was extremely clean. Although there's no kitchen, Kay's provided crocks, cutlery, tea and coffee pots, full milk jug in the fridge on arrival, kettle, trays and an array of tea's and coffees to start you off. Free WiFi enables access to TV etc., if required. There's a hairdryer, short extension leads and some chargers. During our stay, the cosy local pub opposite offered some good, wholesome food and real fires and the excellent Deli over the bridge, on the right, down the road, had a small selection of lovely homemade food, some ham, salad items, veg, homemade cakes and stocks of other basic supplies, plus an excellent cafe, that did super breakfasts, especially takeaway bacon/sausage, tomato and mushroom baps/sarnies, perfect to watch the England/South Africa Rugby Final, before we headed home! In peaceful surroundings, with very friendly people, this great little find fits the bill for a short stay. Highly recommended! Thanks again, Kay and Mark.

  • Ropemakers Cottage was everything we had hoped for and more the space was so liveable and surroundings beautiful. 6 min drive from Wellington and the shops and beautiful outdoor space for kids I enjoyed morning walks before the family woke to see the chickens and explore the tree house. Ideal for grandparents wheelchair/buggy ramp and downstairs double room with wet room. Beds where so comfortable my husband woke up on the first morning and said “let’s sell all we have and buy this mattress haha”. Lovely clean, warm and welcoming private space and such good value for money. Thank you

  • Very stylish and cosy (yet spacious) flat for me, my partner and my dog for Valentine’s weekend. Lovely touches like candles and blankets. A great equipped kitchen, and a very cosy living room to snuggle by the fire. The shower was amazing too. Great for dogs, he loved saying hello to the chickens and sheep, and great to have a wander round the farm and into the dog friendly field. Lovely rural spot yet a short drive to Cullompton Tesco superstore for supplies. Perfect little getaway!

  • We had a great stay at Anna's place. We were visiting family with our one year old and Anna made sure we had everything we needed; high chair, cot, baby bath etc. The place is easy to find and Anna and Alasdair were on hand if we needed them - even bringing us a mug of rice when i realised id forgotten to bring some for our dinner! The space is well designed and stylish - we would stay again if we come back to the area.

    Vicki2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay. A great base, warm and welcoming and ideally situated to explore the area.

  • Nice place, cozy and tidy. We enjoyed having fresh farm eggs in the morning from the chickens outside our front door. Anna was a great and helpful host. It was nice having a big field next door for our dog to run in. Pubs are a bit of a walk away but it was nice to walk through the fields and the town to reach them.

  • An exceptional welcome to a nice home, comfy beds and loads of extra heating in case we felt cold. Every thing we needed for a short stay. The local pub and cafe were an added bonus with lovely walks from the doorstep.

  • If you’re looking for a quiet village to stay with a friendly atmosphere, this is it. Lovely place close to all the major routes but far enough away to be a pocket of heaven. Local pub just a few minutes walk with great food and really friendly people. Try out the village cafe/shop for breakfast too! Theresa’s place is a great find. An old building with country character. Comfortable large double beds, basically a self-contained annex with your own entrance. Kitchenette & wc downstairs and two spacious bedrooms upstairs with dining area and bathroom. Theresa and Mick are really lovely people. They helped sort a table in the pub on arrival and generally made us feel welcome and at home. We’ll certainly be back on another trip to Devon.

  • Easy stay. Lovely accomodation with a pub and cafe within walking distance

    Greg2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house has en extra ambience, it is an Old English house in the country. Guests have their fully detached part of the house which gives the full sense of privacy. The rooms were sparkling clean. There is also a cool pub 4 min down the road. Thank you!

    Gutmiko2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Mick & Teresa’s place has the cosiest most comfortable beds. It’s beautifully decorated & spotlessly clean. The mini kitchen is useful for rustling up snacks. We would have loved to be visiting in summer as it’s such a pretty area. The house is handy for the village cafe & pub. The locals are extremely welcoming & friendly. We thoroughly recommend the Devon & Somerset Gliding Club nearby for passenger flights or walks around the airfield & woodlands. A great find in a truly unique landscape of the Blackdown Hills.

    Alix2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay, any questions Theresa helped straight away. Nothing too much trouble. Comfy bed, lovely and clean. Our son loved Boris the dog! Local cafe was great for breakfast. We hope to use again as friends live near by, thanks again we great stay xx

  • This is a gem of a cottage. The perfect place for a romantic getaway. Loved the scenic views from the balcony and of course the hot tub in the evenings. This place is so well maintained. A must stay if you like cats too. Thank you Karen for letting us stay. Han & Dan.

  • Stayed a week in this beautiful little pieve of heaven. The cottage was perfect in every way, the little added touches gave you that little bit extra. Just far enough away from the town to enjoy the peace quiet. But close enough to be able to drive and explore all that beautiful Devon has to offer. We loved Sidmouth and especially Beckyfalls in Dartmoor, we highly recommend.

    Kate2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Arrived after getting slightly lost, it is a bit secluded but when arrived welcomed very warmly with home made cakes - delicious. Honeysuckle cottage is perfect for 2 people, set apart from the main house, with its own hot tub which we used every evening. Kept superbly clean, was lovely. Views are stunning and at night the sky is so clear it’s perfect for sitting out. There is absolutely everything that you need for your stay. Would recommend that you do a shop before you arrive as the nearest Lidl, Aldi, Tesco is back in Honiton and thats a good 20 min at most drive to get to. There is a small “ honesty” shop in the games room, with some food that will tide you over until you can get to the shops. Very handy. The games room is great, Air Hockey, darts, loads of games, books to read, table tennis plus a tiny spa. All lovely and clean, whole area is lovely and well looked after. All in all, a lovely place to stay if all you want to do is chill out and relax, but also with plenty of bridle paths if you like to walk. If you like birds then you will love this place. Bird feeder right outside balcony, mainly sparrows, tits, a couple of robins, and on 2 days, woodpecker and a Kestrel. Perfect.

Note that there are two (or maybe three) properties here: the 'loft' is on top of 'the barn', so you can hear (only slightly!) the up/downstairs neighbours if there are other guests.

  • We had a wonderful stay at The Loft. It is stylish and equipped with everything you need, including coffee machine, Smart TV and dishwasher. The bed was really comfortable, as was the sofa. Anna was an excellent host and always on hand. We took our dog on some great walks along the river towards Culmstock where there is a good pub. Also, a nice walk on Gaddon Down. The weather was brilliant so we drove to the North Devon Coast and stopped off at some river villages on Exmoor. We hope to come back!

  • A great three night stay at Anna’s apartment. It is extremely peaceful and quiet and very well located in that it is easily accessible by road but also very rural and good for walking into the hills nearby. The apartment has everything required and is very tastefully furnished. Highly recommended. Look forward to coming back again. Thanks Anna.

Musicians and Writers find this a useful retreat to work in. Dogs are not allowed in the bnb but they are welcome to stay with our dogs in the lobby next to the bnb where they can be as wet and muddy as they please, just so long as they are well behaved.
Although it is easily accessible, we are in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by farmland. There are no street lights so the stars look wonderful most nights. The pool (closed for the winter) has a swim pump that was developed for Olympic swimmers so it can be fierce - or as gentle as you like. There is a boat building workshop on the premises, and I am about to renovate the old stable so there is usually something going on though you have your private space, with a garden. There are plenty of herbs growing, and I have labelled most of them, so do help yourselves.
There are some lovely walks and a couple of National Trust properties locally. We are just an hours drive from Bristol, and you can visit anywhere in Devon and Somerset for a day trip. Next Spring we will have the swimming pool.
  • Very clean and fully equipped, great hosts , nice touch with fire lit on arrival .

  • Sarah made me feel welcomed and stayed on the phone to direct me to the door as I arrived in the dark. She had already lit the wood burner so it was warm and cosy on arrival. I can highly recommend the Airbnb which leaves you wanting for nothing. I would stay again in a heartbeat. Many Thanks

The Pod at Springwater is a unique, handcrafted property set up amongst the trees. It has two bedrooms: one double, with a large window and a view into the trees and the smaller, twin room, with offset bunk beds. The living room has a smart tv on a swing out bracket. There's also a well equipped bathroom with a great shower. Downstairs is accessed through a trapdoor in the floor to the kitchen. Double doors open onto the backyard, which has an outdoor fireplace, pizza oven and bbq.
As well as the accomodation, guests have full access to the field in front of The Pod, with a Willow grove and mowed pathways. Amongst the Willow, there's also a firepit, den and rope swing. The Pod at Springwater is a great place to reconnect with nature and is in easy day-tripping distance for many of Devon, Somerset and Dorset's highlights. You will also have three pygmy goats as neighbours!
The landscape of the Blackdown Hills AONB extends from steep, wooded ridges in the north, across a high plateau to rolling farmland in the south. Sites throughout the Blackdown Hills, from iron-age hillforts to second world war airfields, provide a glimpse into the area’s rich history. Varied habitats provide great opportunities for nature and wildlife spotting, while charming villages offer a warm welcome to visitors. The Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty certainly lives up to its name – it is an outstandingly beautiful place to visit.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this great unique space. We would recommend to anyone who fancies something a bit different. Dan has gone to great efforts to add little touches that make this place brilliant and a fantastic home for a night or two.

    Sam2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Dan's place is magic. It's snuggled into nature, there's a net to lie in and star gaze, (and the stars were AMAZING) there is a round window right next to the main double looking over the fields, which is really romantic. The layout of the pod is really fun and easy to live in. I could have stayed for another 2 weeks! It's a perfect get away for couples or families with kids. It's very playful in atmosphere but not at the compromise of comfort. Dan is a very attentive host and the stay was faultless. Do not hesitate to book!

    Avril2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brilliant time at the Pod. The kids loved how quirky the place is and it was lovely and cosy in the storm. We will definitely be booking to come back in the summer months to make the most of the outside space.

    Kirsty2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Really great space in an amazing location. We stayed during a storm and it was surprisingly sturdy and cosy

    Jack2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved Dan’s pod in the countryside! We were looking for a nice getaway in nature, somewhere with character and it way exceeded our expectations. The place is truly special, nestled in a quiet little spot, quirkily decorates throughout with a very cool private courtyard complete with a stone fireplace and pizza oven. Photos can’t do it justice. We’ll definitely be booking again! Thanks Dan!

    Frances2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Pod is just brilliant. So inventive and so much fun. This was my son's 9th birthday present and he and his 7 year old brother are already asking to go back. Dan was friendly and helpful and there to greet us. Peaceful and different!

  • We had a wonderful stay at the lodge. Tracey made us feel immediately welcome, and we soon started to wish we actually lived in these gorgeous hills. A network of cute public footpaths running along small rivers or across meadows and small woodlands conveniently starts right in front of the house, so that even without a car we had fantastic time exploring the area. The house was great too, very well equipped and with a view on the neighbouring meadows and woodland.

  • One of the best Air B&B's I've had the pleasure to stay in! We enjoyed a glorious weekend at Tracey's apartment the facilities were awesome, it had everything we needed and we certainly made the most of the sites. From enjoying the fabulous pub food, skydiving, taking in the beautiful views with early morning runs and greeting the friendly alpacas and Tracey’s adorable pet cats every day. We couldn't wish for a better host than Tracey - From Cary, Chris & Gav...thank you so much! See you again soon :o)

    Cary-Ann2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay here!! The setting was beautiful, the flat clean, cosy and stylish, and going outside seeing the curious faces of the alpacas was a great start to the morning! We were here for a wedding, and this was the perfect base for us; we’d also all love to come back and have time to explore (and lie in the field with the alpacas!!) thanks, hope to see you again! X

  • A great location for the Blackdown Hills! We only had a short break but the loft apartment was so comfy and cosy - so much nicer than staying in a hotel. Had everything we needed. Some beautiful walks from nearby even our 6 year old girl was kept well entertained and enjoyed the walks, the alpacas and the cats The kitchen was well equipped and the owner was very welcoming and helpful Just fabulous! We definitely felt like we had found a little gem! Perfect for our needs! Thank you so much!

  • A Beautiful secluded spot for a relaxing break in the country surrounded by nature and animals. Our kids particularly loved Tracey's Alpacca's and cats. Essential to have a car to access local amenities. Accommodation was compact and very tastefully and thoughtfully appointed with everything we needed. All in all an enjoyable stay and we would happily return. Tracey was a most thoughtful and helpful host.

We offer you a bright, newly converted barn, overlooking fields and lovely Somerset countryside with views overlooking the Quantock Hills and the Blackdown Hills. Open plan downstairs with fully equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge. Seperate downstairs toilet. Kitchen is equipped with washing machine, microwave etc and linen and towels. Two bedrooms, one with a Kingsize bed, the other a double. Outside has roomy parking and a patio with seating which catches the sun.
Highfield Barn is newly converted from its previous use as a sheep shed many years ago. The views sweep across fields to the Blackdown Hills, Culmstock Beacon, Wellington Monument and the Quantocks. Lying in bed you have the Quantock Hills and Brendon Hills in one direction and Culmstock Beacon in the other from a vantage point! Although Highfield Barn is complete and ready to be enjoyed, on other parts of the property a small amount of landscaping and tree planting is waiting to be completed. This is outside of the boundaries of the barn and we are planning this will be done in the spring and it will be even better still!
Although we are in the countryside there is easy access to the Quantocks, Brendon Hills and Exmoor as well as Culmstock Beacon and Blackdown Hills on the doorstep and Wellington Monument. The towns of Wellington, Tiverton, Honiton and Taunton are within easy reach. Wellington, being only five minutes drive, has many good eating places, supermarkets and local shops. Visit the museum for local history and there is also the famous Sheppy’s Cider to enjoy. Many footpaths surround the area. The local Pub is half a mile away offering good food. We are situated in the middle of both coasts so only 45 minutes drive to Watchet and equally to Lyme Regis.

  • Lottie is the perfect host. Right from the off she was very prompt in responding to any question. Her place is very stylish, relaxing, and comfortable. It was lovely to have a very tasty home cooked breakfast after a late night at a wedding reception. Also thanks to her husband for taking us to collect our car in the morning. Unfortunately she is moving though if she continues with Airbnb, I would definitely recommend you staying with her.

The Cabin is a delightful getaway nestled into a stunning woodland which provides a great base for Blackdown Hills explorations. The cabin shares nine acres of woodland with a friendly off grid community, but is positioned in its own secluded woodland glade. Perfect for nature lovers looking for somewhere to retreat, to do nothing, to contemplate or go and do, who are not afraid of walking five minutes through the woods, over little bridges and a beautiful rough path to get to the cabin.
The A Corn is a oak timber frame "Hansel & Greta" little house made by Jake Jackson a Devon famed oak timber framer. It was built using traditional techniques and materials It's quite small and comfortable. The water on tap is delicious as it comes from our own spring. If booking in the winter months please refer to WINTER NOTES further down on OTHER THINGS TO NOTE It's on the edge of the woods where oak and beech trees reign over an array of grasses, moss, trees and shrubs typical of the area, overlooking a valley of old pastures. The now boggy areas were fish ponds run by monks in the 1600's There are untouched areas of slushy ground where trees grow, age and fall. Next to the cabin there is the bath house with an excellent view . There are badger sets near by and a colony of bats lives in the woods. It's a birders paradise!

Coronavirus - 22nd March 2020 There are currently no coronavirus cases near us, but we are following advice from the UK government and Devon tourism and have closed until 30th April, to support and help protect our local community. We will continue to monitor the situation and review as necessary. We would love to welcome you to come and stay in the future when we have all come out the other side of this crisis. In the meantime, stay safe; stay well and look after each other.
Otter Rise is the perfect escape for couples for a romantic break or for families with children. Well behaved dogs are very welcome, but please keep them on a lead or under close control as we are surrounded by sheep. We are happy to provide a travel cot with bedding and a high chair for the small people for no extra charge. The accommodation has 4 steps up to the front door, but once inside everything is all on one level and easily accessible for those with mobility issues. Guests have sole use of the mostly level, lawned garden area which is enclosed by hedging and a low wall.
Many of our friends have called Otter Rise a 'little piece of heaven' and everyone who comes to stay loves on the peace and tranquility of the area. Anne's family have lived here for over 40 years and we absolutely love the friendliness of the people, the beautiful walks along the river, through the woods or exploring the ancient, hidden lanes; we love a visit to the nearby beaches and fossil hunting along thr Jurassic Coast. Seatown is a particular favourite, which may have something to do with the pub that is right on the beach and serves excellent food, and what can beat buying the freshest fish straight from the boats on the slipway at Beer? We have our own favourite restaurants and pubs nearby, most of which welcome dogs. A list of these is in the cottage, please feel free to add your favourites too. When you've had enough of all this fresh air and country goodness, 30 minutes to an hour will see you in the heart of the big towns and cities of Plymouth, Exeter, Taunton or Yeovil with plenty of bright lights, shops, theatres and cinemas or, closer to home are numerous small towns with unique, quirky shops to explore.
  • A cosy, welcoming cottage in a quiet picturesque location. Anne provides everything you could need in the kitchen and the whole place is comfortable and warm. Local maps and information are provided along with games, DVDs and plenty of interesting books. We had a lovely relaxing time. Anne came to welcome us and her freshly baked bread was a great start to our break!

Once you have arrived you will have your own set of keys so can come and go as you please. My stairs are quite steep, so please be aware if booking with small children or others who might find that difficult!
This is a really good place to use as a stop off if you are heading down to Devon or Cornwall, being close to the M5 (j26) and between 2 and 3 hours from London and the Midlands. It's also a good base to explore the lovely local Blackdown Hills, and not too far from Dorset and North Devon coasts, and Dartmoor.

  • Fantastic accommodation in a beautiful and peaceful setting. Amenities were beyond what we expected and breakfast was superb. Having the guest annexe with sitting room and kitchen was a real treat. Wonderful hospitality- a great stay.

  • Whether it's the "de-stressage" magic of the beautiful horses and dogs, or just amazing mattresses, Lucinda holds the secret of a wonderful night's sleep (even for our toddler). Heartily recommended.

  • What an amazing place! Beautiful scenery, an amazing host and a fantastic home from home. The cottage has everything you could need and is very comfortable. It's a unique place to stay and I can't recommend it more highly. Would love to return. Huge thank you to the wonderful Lucinda.

  • This is an absolutely stunning place to stay. Its long history has been restored and maintained in a very nice way. The rooms are exactly what you expect in a 400+ year old home and it's amazing to look at the at different rooms. Very spacious, clean and just modern enough to make it a relaxing place to stay. This is easily the best place on airbnb I have ever stayed. Ps. We had dinner at the Ashill Inn (try and book a table here if you can) it was amazing.

  • Lucinda was incredibly welcoming and make us feel right at home right from the start. The accommodation is extremely clean throughout and the setting overlooking the valley is wonderful. The breakfasts are absolutely extraordinary - don't plan to do to any too strenuous straight afterwards! Lucinda also is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful with regards local services and amenities and on a number of occasions helped to to secure travel to our intended destinations. I cannot recommend a stay at Bowhayes B&B highly enough.

  • The Bowhayes Farm experience was just absolutely beautiful! Lucinda and Geoff were so warm and gracious and helpful---breakfast was simply amazing! Those delicious extremely orange eggs (high Omega3? ) and sausages were cooked to perfection. Walking into the cottage itself is like meeting an old friend or maybe returning to a familiar room from a past life---with its thatched roof and two-foot thick walls ---feels like stepping back in time and yet the two sparkling baths have all the modern conveniences. Spacious and cozy at the same time--the photos online give only a hint of how lovely this place is!

  • Our stay was truly magical which, considering it was only for one night, makes it even more incredible. Amazing host, amazing breakfast, bed, dogs, horses, everything was perfect. Of all the bnbs between Exeter and London we had to chose from, we're so glad our first choice was the best! We will be back
