Places to stay in Hook Norton
Not a country cottage so no low ceilings, dark rooms and draughts..just well insulated and thoughtfully designed cabin with large windows to take advantage of the views. Definitely not glamping either as full facilities. Not located on a picture postcard street, just in large garden at end of quiet cul de sac but with main road running behind cabin. No struggle to find parking as ample space in own courtyard. Priced so I can afford to include all the little extras that guests value.
Visiting on own or as a couple then enjoy Super King bed but easily splits into twins. Space in bedroom for cot and single folding bed or double inflatable mattress available for use in Sitting Room. Might be a bit cosy but great if only for a night or two. I have furnished in shabby chic style but with quality items all repurposed to create comfortable but functional environment. Love this quote left in visitor book "You close the door behind you and you've entered a secluded little retro world" You want a bit of peace and quiet well that is relative as most of my guests are escaping town life so find it very tranquil and scarcely notice road that runs at back of property. Others notice at first but soon realise view is more of a distraction especially when dining alfresco or enjoying the stars due to village Dark Sky status. Do remind guests that will need a torch when walking back from excellent Red Lion as no street lights. Having family members with disabilities I am aware of problems finding suitable accommodation so have designed with that in mind - not the complete set up but Octogenarian wheelchair bound friend stayed and he and wife found perfect for their needs. No sumptuous cottage garden - I'm the gardener so have to be realstic. Managed to save a few mature trees during build process in 2015 and much new planting that will be magnificent in couple of years but in meantime my natural border does include grasses and thistles as after all a weed is only a plant in wrong place and bees and butterflies love. Also have bird feeders and nesting box just outside bedroom window and blue tits particuarly love. Have thought about privacy carefully as their are occupants in main property but layout has been thought through to ensure everyone has own space without infringement on others enjoyment. Have had usual trials with IT but now have cabled connection to router and reliable service. Though most of my guests seem to really enjoy 'turning phones off' and listening to late Aunt's eclectic vinyl collection on multi media player. Similarly there is a TV but not dominant plasma screen just one discreetly tucked into corner. Have had guests for long term stays so always happy to discuss options if you need a base while working away or if between house sales.
Little Bulpits (field for Bulls) was Old English field name of field before development and hence unusual name for this property. Long Compton is a charming Cotswold Village located in Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and excellent walking area (MacMillan Way). On A3400 with Oxford and Stratford on Avon both 20 miles. The Rollright Stones are located on edge of parish. There is a well stocked village shop 5 minutes walk away and popular village pub 10 minutes walk. Local towns are Chipping Norton, Moreton in Marsh and Shipston on Stour. Whichford Pottery, Cotswold Distillery and Hook Norton Brewery located in neighbouring villages. Oxford, Stratford upon Avon, Chipping Campden, Stow on the Wold, Daylesford Farm Shop, Blenheim Palace and Compton Verney Art Gallery are both within half an hours drive
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Little Bulpits. We booked as it is close by to the Cotswolds Distillery and we were able to walk there from the property. Elizabeth is a thoughtful host and was very welcoming - the accommodation has everything needed for a comfortable stay.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed our short break at Little Bulpits. Everything was as described and we really appreciated the "extras" left for us by our host. Communication was excellent. We found it to be a relaxing and peaceful retreat - comfortable accommodation for two people self catering, and enjoyed good nights sleep after our daily excursions! Location is ideally placed for day trips to Oxford, Stratford Upon Avon, Blenheim Palace and the many small villages of interest in the area. Would love to stay again when in the area.

  • Lovely venue, good base to visit places.

  • Elizabeth’s house is very warm and clean. She is so kind and thoughtful, leaving breakfast ready, shampoos and creams to use. She also helps the environment by allowing guests to separate and recycle their trash (sorry for figuring it out late). Would recommend it in a heartbeat.

    Maisie2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at this beautiful home for 3 summer nights and have to say the weekend was perfect. The accommodation was great, everyone had an ensuite bathroom and the grounds were huge with plenty of activities to keep us busy including a BBQ, table tennis table and hot tub. Indoors there was a nicely sized dining room and living room which we could all fit in, and we spent most of our time in the open planned kitchen / breakfast area, so we were very comfortable. Our host left us plenty of guidance prior to arrival and was available to assist with any queries throughout. For a group of friends with young children the home provided an ideal place for quality time and making some great memories.

  • What an incredible place for a few days of relaxation. I always look for beautiful interiors and Emma’s place ticked all of those boxes. The building itself is stunning but Emma has decorated the place so beautifully. My boyfriend and I wanted a few days away and we’re so pleased we chose The Loft. We had everything we needed and Emma was excellent at communicating and ensuring we had everything we needed. Directions were clear and the brownies were a great welcome treat! We will definitely look to return at some point - thank you so much for having us!

  • This is an outstanding house in the Oxfordshire Costwolds with an old house (chapel?) extended thoughtfully using local materials (stone, brick, slate). It's modern and clean but also has charm, think Danish design meets a Cotswolds house. Super clean and functional, fresh and stylish. Amazing communication from Caroline and Sylwia.

    Fred2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly we could not have asked for a better place to stay over Christmas. It was sparkling clean and had absolutely everything we needed. Could not recommend more!! Caroline and Jon were highly communicative and the housekeeper Sylwia was also very welcoming on our arrival.

  • Wow - this is a great place. We visited for two nights for my wife’s 40th birthday and had such an amazing stay. The property is fantastically furnished in a beautiful location and the pictures don’t do it justice. There is so much space and you don’t feel like you are living in each other’s pockets. The children loved the freedom and also the amazing pool with its great features! We were blessed with great weather so never left the property and would highly recommend.

Set in the traquil surroundings of Lower Nill Farm this wooden cabin has glorious views across the Cotswolds with all the amenities to make your stay a relaxing break away from hectic life. Lower Nill Farm is just a short distance from the historical village of Hook Norton. Hook Norton is famous throughout the world for its brewery which has been making beer since 1849. Lower Nill Farm is also located on the historic D'arcy Dalton way which spans the length of the county of Oxfordshire.
The Cabin is an oak framed structure complete with exposed beams/trusses and vaulted ceilings which make the space light & airy. The glazing makes the most of the views looking out to Brailes Hill and beyond, it also makes a great space to watch local wildlife. The Cabin also has a huge garden at your disposal perfect for summer BBQ's and for children to play safely. The plot is in a very peaceful part of the farm an excellent place to unplug and relax.
Lower Nill Farm is located in the spectacular Oxfordshire countryside. It's a great base to explore the Cotswolds and also historical cities and towns like Oxford, Stratford upon Avon, Warwick, Banbury, Chipping Norton and Leamington Spa. The local village, Hook Norton, is a very picturesque place where agriculture and brewing have played a huge part in the prosperity of the village. The local brewery is the home of Hook Norton ales and a huge source of local pride. A visit to the brewery shows you a process that has barely changed in 200 years in a majestic building purpose built for the serious business of making beer. Other local gems are: -Whichford pottery and the adjoining Straw Kitchen Cafe -Broughton Castle -The Rollright Stones -Upton House -Chastleton House -Blenheim Palace
  • This stay really made our trip to the Cotswalds. It’s a bit outside of the Cotswalds, but if you have a car, it’s easy to get around. You can tell a lot of attention went into making this the perfect farmhouse. One bed is a pull-out couch but the duvets they provide are lovely and it’s nice to sleep by the fireplace and see the view out the windows. We really loved the fireplace and the wood/fire starting materials made it easy. The kitchen is lovely for cooking with all the utensils you need. We brought milk but didn’t need to, as they provided some. The hosts greet you and come by if needed. This rural stay outside of the Cotswalds was everything we needed for a weekend getaway from London!

    Cora2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the cabin. Lots of personal, thoughtful touches and comfortable bed.

  • Wonderful location!

    Jonathan2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here 2 nights in Feb. Really cosy and quiet. Nice extra touches, like leaving the place stacked with board games, dvds, books and even a couple of bottles of the local beer from Hook Norton Brewery. Holly was there waiting for us when we arrived and showed us around. She was available via text at any time should you need her. Just a note that no toiletries were provided so dont forget those. They kindly left us some milk, orange juice, tea etc. Kitchen is fully functional and has everything you need to prepare dinner. The place is on a working farm so pitch black and silent of an evening - the perfect escape.

    Lauren2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place with fantastic views. Good communication throughout and loved the local beer!

  • Probably the best AirBnb out there. Fantastic place in a fantastic location. Beautifully stylish with thoughtful touches and extremely comfortable. Will definitely be back.

    Charles2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Hayloft, so much so that we abandoned most of our plans to explore the area. Everything is high quality and has been thoughtfully sourced, from the furniture & bed linen to the local produce we found in the fridge. Small things like having candles to light really made us feel at home & allowed us to create the atmosphere we were looking for.

    Sophie2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • This gorgeous cottage is the perfect rural retreat. We enjoyed four nights here over NYE, and came with high expectations having read the glowing reviews on airbnb. However it still managed to blow us away! The interior design is wonderful, and filled with generous touches like crisp White Company sheets, REN bath products and scented candles. Mark's guide book is packed with useful tips, including a rundown of good pubs in the area. We picked a new one every day and made good use of the many walking trails around Little Tew. In the evenings we would light the log burner, run a bath and curl up on the sofa with the board games provided. Heaven!! Thank you Mark & family for being such generous hosts. The best airbnb experience we've had, hands down!

Main living room: The heart of the house, with exposed beams, a large inglenook fireplace with a wood-burning stove, three-seater sofa, plus a 'love-seat' armchair, window seat and 2 x wickerwork chairs; Utility room: Contains a toilet, hand basin, washing machine and tumbler dryer. From the main living room, five steps lead up to: Second living room: A spectacular room for both adults and children, containing a fabulous old bar-billiards table (the rules are on the wall!), a large open fire, exposed beams and a Smart TV, corner sofa, plus armchairs. There is also a piano, however please be aware that this may not be properly tuned. Stairs from this room lead up to the minstrels’ gallery, overlooking the piano and bar-billiards table, which contains a full size double sofa bed (see Key Features below); Returning to the main living room, stairs go upstairs to a landing, which features an antique washstand and leads to: Bedroom 1: A dual aspect room, with double bed, dresser and built-in wardrobes; Bedroom 2: Another dual aspect room, with double bed and built-in wardrobes. Bedroom 2 has access to bathroom 2 (see below), enabling it to be used as an en-suite bathroom, if desired; Bedroom 3: Bunk beds with two large storage drawers beneath and a bedside table with drawers for storage; Bathroom 1: Newly refurbished, with a bath (with shower attachment), toilet and washbasin; Bathroom 2: A newly built shower room, with toilet and washbasin. This “Jack & Jill” bathroom can be accessed from the landing or from bedroom 2, allowing it to be either a shared bathroom or bedroom 2’s en-suite bathroom. The garden comprises an enclosed paved patio, a real sun-trap from early spring to late autumn, with a table seating up to eight. Steps lead up to a raised lawn, with a bench and small table. There is a lovely view of the church tower from the patio and lawn. There is a low wall on the side of the garden, therefore pets and children should be supervised at all times. An impressive Cotswold stone barbecue, for which the kitchen/dining room window acts as a serving hatch, can be used in all seasons.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

  • A beautiful cottage in a very quiet village. Beautifully decorated with super comfy beds. Although there are no amenities directly in the village there are plenty of lovely walks (which can be found in the books in the lounge) nearby. The welcome goodies mean you don’t have to rush to the shop and can build a trip into your day, as anything is a short drive or walk away. We really enjoyed our stay here, such a perfect break away from the hustle and bustle! Would definitely book again.

  • Character Cottage is a quiet and peaceful place in Sutton, not far from Stratford's small town near Shakespeare's home. Self-driving is recommended, parking is possible. As it is winter, there are few tourists. The rest was good, the cottage kitchen was well-equipped, and the host warmly prepared eggs, milk, bread and butter for us. The bedroom is on the second floor. Although small, it is very welcoming. The bathrooms are great, with romantic bathtubs and comfortable shower rooms.

  • Honeysuckle cottage is an amazing stay! It is cute and cozy. We got everything we needed to stay comfortably. Everything was very clean and they provided us with milk, bread, butter and eggs. And special thanks to Chris for helping us out when our car got stuck at the parking spot. He was quick to respond and easy to communicate. We arrived at night (it was very dark) and didn’t realize we accidentally ran over a small rock n got stuck. 😂 Luckily it was okay. Overall, it was a perfect stay!

  • Fantastic property in a stunning location, and it was super easy to find! Really enjoyed the surrounding countryside and had useful tips from the host on the local area. Definitely recommend this Airbnb.

  • Great company. Very responsive, very helpful. Can not fault them and will definitely use them again ❤️

    Joni2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for an idyllic little cottage to get away from it all, this is the place for you. The ling room is perfectly cosy and both bedrooms offer good sized beds which the host asked before arrival if we'd like making up as twin or double rooms. The bath is great for relaxing in after a long walk and the kitchen is sufficient enough to fully self cater. The cottage is managed by a larger company and, as I found out subsequently, it's cheaper to book direct than via this website. Also, they charge £20 to bring a dog (hidden away in the Ts & Cs on this site) but I can't see what that extra charge provided. The nearest pub (The George) is 1.6 miles away and serves some excellent food and drink in a classic, dog friendly, pub environment. All in all, a great little find and we'd definitely return.

The wonderful walled garden is at the rear of the property, with a pathway that leads uphill to a patio area with a gas barbecue and garden table with seating for four. Chipping Norton, better known as "Chippy" by locals, is a well-known market town in the Cotswolds which has been runner up in the Great British High Street awards for small market town for the last two years. Once the site of a Norman castle, the town is the highest in Oxfordshire and has a number of notable buildings to visit. The Town Hall proudly marks the days when the town was a Borough. It was built in 1842 and used to host the poultry and butter markets on Wednesdays, as well as the Corn Exchange. It was also used for entertainment and auctions and lucky visitors may catch a glimpse of a bride and groom as the hall is licensed for weddings. A picturesque row of traditional Cotswold stone cottages can be found in the town which were once almshouses given to Chippy by puritan Henry Cornish. The almshouses are set back from the road and are entered through a grand archway which has elaborate finials and cresting. Another standout building is Bliss Mill. It dates back to the 1870s and was once used in the manufacturing of wool and tweed for cloth manufacturer William Bliss. The mill was designed to look like a country house, but has the large chimney at one end for which it is recognised. It is now a Grade II listed building and was converted into luxury apartments in the 1980s. Being a relatively small town, it comes as a surprise to many to find a theatre in Chipping Norton. The team put on an array of productions including theatre, music, comedy and the annual pantomime. As well as live performances, the theatre also screens a range of classic, art house and foreign language films. Food & Drink As one of the main market towns in the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton has a wide variety of places to eat and drink, catering for most tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample, to give a flavour for the various options available: Wild Thyme Restaurant (www.wildthymerestaurant.co.uk): Offering exciting modern British food and relaxed friendly service, complemented by three stylish rooms, this is a special place to enjoy great food and wine with family and friends. The Chequers (www.chequers-pub.com): The Chequers was built in medieval times at the entrance to the market place and is thought to date back to the late 1500s as a pub, when it was identified by a sign of a blue anchor outside. The main bar is situated amongst four seating areas. In the absence of any electronic games machines, pool tables or juke boxes, the traditional pub styling of yesteryear is recalled. A blazing log fire in the winter creates a cosy atmosphere. There is also a separate restaurant area. Whistlers Café Bar & Restaurant (www.whistlersrestaurant.co.uk): The owners of Whistlers are passionate about food and passionate about entertaining. Open during the day as well as for evening meals, Whistlers has a range of breakfasts, through to lighter snacks and lunchtime treats, as well as a great range of hot drinks and cakes to help you while away the hours. Café Le Raj (www.cafeleraj.net): A contemporary Indian restaurant, where top quality ingredients and fragrant herbs and spices are used to create sumptuous dishes. Chipping Norton also has many food shops, ranging from small, family run places, to a Co-op and a Sainsbury's.

  • Garden Cottage is charming, pristine clean and has everything necessary for a comfortable home from home stay. The cottage was cosy, warm and welcoming and I loved the wood burner. Communication with Alison was immediate and she contacted me shortly after my arrival to make sure that all was well. Using the lockbox was straightforward. I didn’t have any difficulty finding a space in the residents car park. I have no hesitation in recommending this cottage.

Check in was a breeze, the apartment is private and has all you need, with clear instructions on how to use everything and the breakfast is a lovely touch.
  • We had an amazing stay at the Smithy! The location was excellent, a stone's throw away from some lovely pubs and a little high street. The house was beautiful and had everything you could think of including some handy bits of food for cooking ! Also we had lots of info provided regarding parking, check in check out etc. So everything was super clear and they replied to any questions really quickly. Would definitely recommend to anyone!!

  • My colleagues rated this the best cottage they stayed in over the 4 weeks of working in Oxford. I stayed in one which was beautiful so this place must have been nice to win there approval. I will book again :) Many Thanks Matt

  • My friends and I loved our stay at the Smithy. Both the town and the home were adorable! The hosts were responsive and the home clean and inviting when we arrived.

  • Gorgeous cosy cottage, great location

    Caroline2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Smithy was the perfect cottage for us - a lovely, welcoming place to stay, spotless and with everything you needed to hand. It was in a great location for easily walking to the shops and pubs of Chipping Norton, but also well located for beautiful walks into the Cotswolds countryside.

    Nick2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, perfect location. Charming walks from our doorstep. Sweet thoughtful touches like fresh flowers. Couldn't speak higher of it.

    Katherine2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in this lovely house in the centre of Chipping Norton. It had great extra touches such as fresh milk being provided for us so we could have a cup of tea on arrival. There was a coffee machine and plenty of tea facilities provided. Local facilities were good with a nice pub just a short walk up the road and there is also a Sainsbury’s within a short walking distance. The house has WiFi available and a smart TV. There was a main bathroom upstairs with a bath and good overhead shower, plus the downstairs toilet. Dependent on arrival times (we arrived on the Friday evening when the locals pubs and restaurants were busy), you may need to drive around for a while looking for a suitable parking spot as there are no dedicated parking options for the house. However if you avoid arriving at peak times there should be plenty of nearby parking available. A great stay in a lovely village and would definitely return!

A light, comfy room with a double bed, spacious en suite, we're right in the heart of the edge of the Cotswolds, with two great pubs in the village, and fabulous walks from our front door. We're 30 mins from Stratford Upon Avon, 45 mins from Oxford, and just 20 mins from Banbury Train Station (direct links to London and Birmingham). The Rollright Stones are a 10 min drive away, as is Chipping Norton. Hook Norton would make a super base to explore the northern half of the Cotswolds.
  • Really warm and friendly welcome, just like home. Super comfy bed and scrumptious breakfast. Neil, Tina and Ralph the boxer are great hosts, we will be back. Thanks to all.

    Don2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Neil and family are super friendly, welcoming and good company. Their home is in a charming village full of character. We chose this location as we had booked a tour at the local brewery (very enjoyable and excellent value for money). It would also be a very good spot for walkers. The facilities are as described, large bedroom, very comfortable bed, excellent private shower room. It is up two flights of stairs. Very quiet. Would definitely come back.

    Pat2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Neil and Tina are great hosts and will put themselves out to make you feel welcome. Comfy room with a decent ensuite. Would stay there again for sure.

    Janet2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great overnight stay after attending a festival in the area. Great communication and so accommodating beyond what I expect for how late we ended up arriving. Good shower in the morning and lovely to have some toast and cereal before we headed off too. Thank you for having us and lovely to meet you all!

    Adele2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Neil and Tina's home was the perfect property for me since I was attending a wedding at Hook Norton Brewery in the village. Lovely hosts. The room is spotless and the shower is great, very powerful. Would recommend to anyone for a quiet getaway.

    Elizabeth2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Neil, Tina and Boxer Ralf are wonderful Hosts! They are ultra friendly, caring, very welcoming, interesting and engaging. Their home is beautiful and situated in tranquil, pretty village. In the morning I awoke to a chorus of bird song! Standards of cleanliness are very high, the bedroom and ensuite are lovely, the breakfast is good.... home made bread...yum! Lots of chatting, local top tips, humour and recommendations for local dining were all an added bonus!

    Vanessa2019-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • The room was clean, quiet and spacious, the bed comfortable and the bathroom neat but we most valued Neil's and Tina's hospitality and conversations with them. Thoroughly recommended!

    Ingmar2019-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • A spacious double room with large en suite. You get the top floor to yourself so it feels private. Neil & Tina are welcoming & friendly hosts who respond quickly and were flexible about timings when needed. Would highly recommend.

  • Small cottage in a quiet location, the cottage was precisely as described. We knew to expect only one bathroom. A short walk to central Chipping Norton communication was great.

  • A great cottage in a perfect location near the centre of Chipping Norton. The cottage has been renovated to a high spec, with really good facilities, great little kitchen, good bathroom and even a useful utility room. The rooms are all a good size, and the beds comfy! If over 6 foot, You will need to watch your head when going into the bathroom and bedrooms, and the stairs are a little awkward to come down as the beams are quite low at the bottom. There are great finishing touches throughout which are really lovely to see and made our stay really enjoyable. It's just a short walk to the Theatre and lots of pubs/restaurants and take-aways. We had no trouble parking outside each night, but you do get a permit to park in the premier inn car park which we didn't ever need to use.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Kate’s property, it’s very close to Chipping Norton which is a lovely town to stroll around with great restaurants! We also had nice trips to Oxford, Bourton on the water and a walk around the Cotswolds wildlife park. The studio itself is really well equipped for a weekend away and is very quiet and private, a perfect weekend!

  • Very cosy, quiet and private, we loved the wood fire especially. Kate and Jon were great hosts.

    Kate2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little place to stay and the bedroom is separate to the living space which is nice. Amazing shower and lovely bathroom, very clean. We went with our 2 dogs and it’s nice that you can let them out and there is a fence so they are enclosed in their own little garden. We didn’t t really venture out but collected a takeaway from nearby Chipping Norton which was lovely. There is no cooker but there is a microwave and toaster. The wifi was not working which the owner apologised for and it is in the process of being upgraded. A lovely cosy little Space which I wish was my holiday home lol.

    Lucy2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfectly brilliant little spot in the country near the Cotswolds. Fantastically cozy and clean, absolutely charming people, wonderful location. Kate and John are outstanding hosts, and the cottage itself enough to make you want to live there. Old church and fantastic cemetery a few yards away, and a very old Inn for supper if you can make the drive a few miles down the road. We got very lucky with a massive October Hunter's Moon over the fields, but I will unhesitatingly recommend this spot regardless of time of year or weather.

    Kray2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed staying here. It was a lovely space which was looked after very well. It was spotless in terms of cleanliness and the log burner gave it a real homely feel. Kate was super accommodating of us and our dog which is rare to find but makes it great for us. Not usually one to comment on bathrooms but the shower was outstanding, could have been there for days!

A brand new cabin in the grounds of our home. Fully insulated and heated with either air con or oil filled heaters. This fully self contained cabin is ideal for a short break or someone working away from home. There’s a shower room and kitchen equipped with counter fridge and combo microwave. A smart tv with Netflix and a good WiFi service.
  • The cabin just did the job I needed perfectly for a few nights in the area. I arrived late and check in was so easy. It was cold outside and the cabin was very well heated. It couldn’t have been simpler, thanks Paul.

  • I've come home looking for an excuse to go and stay again! Beautiful space, Paul was friendly and welcoming, absolutely recommend.

    Elizabeth2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay at Paul's place. From the outside, the main house is very modern and the AirBnb had great amenities and small touches. In a very quiet area, lots of Oxfordshire stone. Bed very comfortable and had a great night's sleep. I found there was noise from the fridge or heater which would rumble occasionally when I was trying to get to sleep but ear plugs completely blocked it out and I had no problems. I'm a fussy sleeper generally though 😁 Would definitely recommend to others.

    Deborah2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • lovely place, just as imagined. Super easy check in with key safe and left to settle in etc. Didn't need Paul but did briefly meet him and the dog as we left. Couple of bits to note for future visitors which might help (beyond description). Walls separating bathroom from rest of the space do not so all the way to ceiling, so those with less pleasant bathroom habits may feel uncomfortable. Wasn't too much of an issue for us. Smart TV - couldn't get regular channels as not sure there is any aerial etc. NetFlix, iplayer etc all there though so, these days, not an issue to find something to watch. thanks for a lovely but brief stay

Spring Farm is a working farm in a peaceful rural location with cattle, horses and chickens in the fields around the farmhouse. It is perfect for a countryside getaway with some lovely walks & cycle rides from the farm (see how to hire bikes below). Feel free to wander round the farm and meet the animals. Spring Farm is less than 3 miles from Soho Farmhouse and there are many superb pubs and restaurants nearby. We would recommend The Boxing Hare, Swerford and The Falkland Arms, Great Tew.
The annexe has a separate access and is a self contained unit. It has recently been totally refurbished and guests can enjoy the high quality finish. A breakfast hamper is left for guests containing fresh eggs, bread, bacon, cereals, orange juice, tea, coffee and milk. The sofa bed is quite small so we offer a high quality portable guest bed if required.
The historic market town of Chipping Norton is 2 miles away. There is a farmers market once a month, a historic theatre and many restaurants including Chinese, Indian and Thai food. Other tourist attractions nearby include Blenheim Palace, Daylesford organic farm shop and spa, beautiful Stow on the Wold, Hook Norton Brewery & Whichford Pottery.
  • Thank you for a lovely stay on your farm! We had a great time and would definitely recommend.

  • Clean, quiet, charming, welcoming... Exactly what we wanted as a long weekend out the city.

    George2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Pauline is an amazing host, if you need anything she is there to help! The annexe was beautiful and clean with everything you may need on trip away! Plenty of pamphlets with ideas for things to do! Her two dogs are gorgeous and as welcoming as Pauline! 100% will stay again!

  • We had a lovely stay at Spring Farm - would highly recommend.

    Danica2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Spring Farm. The annexe is really comfortable, had everything you could need for a very happy stay and was lovely and clean. Pauline was a very friendly and helpful host and communication was brilliant from the start. It is perfectly located to explore the Cotswolds. The accommodation is on a farm and is very peaceful. There are several beautiful horses and two of the friendliest dogs who often came to say hello. As big dog lovers this made the stay even more lovely! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Spring Farm to anyone visiting the Cotswolds.

    Jayne2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The annexe is spacious enough for a few days stay and is ideally located to access areas to visit in The Cotswolds. Pauline is a lovely host, very welcoming and provided some useful food items. The farm has lots of horses to feed carrots too, so take a few kilos. Their black Labrador is very friendly and loves to be made a fuss of. The annexe is warm and comfortable with all the amenities needed. Greatly recommended.

    Philip2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful property and great value. When you come make sure that you bring a tennis ball for Derek the black lab. He loves to play ball, but is not good at remembering where he left it. So sweet. And you will enjoy seeing the horses and if you get a chance, see Pauline ride her Prix St. George horse. #riderenvy

  • Warm a friendly hospitality. Very helpful and kind lady. Just what you need.

    Edwin2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly host, offered me a cup of tea and mince pie as soon as I got there. Bedroom is very accuracy depicted in the pictures on the ad, with a comfy (low) bed. Bathroom is shared with the family as stated. Location is very close to the centre and we walked to the theatre in less than 5 mins. It’s possible to park in their drive but it’s on a very sleep gradient, but there is street parking too. Only issue I had was the pipes making noise when we were trying to go to sleep but I messaged Val about them and she got up to turn them off. So overall great little stop off with great value for money.

The accommodation was immaculately clean, well furnished and very warm and cosy. Kitchen has everything you need to self cater. The weather wasn’t great but the garden looked beautiful and I’m sure would be a real benefit in the summer. Locally, we had a fantastic meal at the Boxing Hare. Taxi was around £13. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back again.

Renovated in 2018, the Granary is the third of three unique conversions of 17th Century farm buildings in the grounds of an historic old vicarage in tranquil Little Tew, on the edge of the Cotswolds. The Granary offers luxury, private and comfortable accommodation for a couple to use as a base to laze or explore.
The Granary is the conversion of a 17th Century Cotswold stone grain store, offering accommodation over the first and second floors. External stairs with views over the surrounding fields lead up to the Granary’s own front door. This leads straight into a fully equipped kitchen/dining room, featuring Belfast sink, dishwasher, induction hob, electric oven and all the equipment you could need to cook up and eat a feast; with views over the Granary’s dedicated garden, the dining table will comfortably seat four. Two steps, then passed the internal oak stairs through to the cosy sitting room with wood burner and plenty of logs. Flop into the sofa and doze the day away, watching the fire, the smart tv or listening to music via your device on the Bose speaker. Alternatively pen your first novel at the desk/daydream whilst enjoying views over the walled garden. If all this proves too much, head up the stairs to the King size, white linen bedroom nestled in the eaves. Once again totally private yet with views over the walled garden and surrounding countryside rural remedy is assured. A landing with wardrobe two more steps to a laundry cupboard, with washer/dryer leads you to the luxurious bathroom with freestanding cast iron bath and loo with a view to complete the accommodation.
Easily accessible from North and South but off the beaten track, Little Tew is a small village on the edge of the Cotswolds. Discover postcard perfect Cotswold towns and villages including Burford, Stow on the Wold and neighbouring Great Tew with chocolate box cottages and the local pub the Falkland Arms. Very close, yet far enough away from Soho Farmhouse dependent on how you see it. Well situated to learn more about academic and historic Oxford. Stately days out at Blenheim Palace. Some big name retail therapy at Bicester Village. Spa treatments and organic food from the worlds smartest farm shop at Daylesford. There's much to see if you want to get out there and plenty of home comfort if you don't.
  • Would highly recommend this beautiful space for a trip.

  • Have used Airbnb for a number of years, all over Europe and this has been the best! Beautifully appointed, fine levels of detail and immaculately clean. From the White Company towels and bedding to the wood burner, which was laid ready for an ignited match.....to the Cotswold sausage, bacon, eggs, butter and milk in the fridge- this place thoroughly deserves its high rating! We star gazed(it was February!) and the walled garden would be an ideal (and private) BBQ area in warmer temperatures.... whatever the time of year, this will never disappoint !! We will be back!

    Yasmeen2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at The Granary. It’s just as gorgeous as the photos and such a good base to explore the Cotswolds from. The local breakfast items and wine in the fridge were a lovely touch and we couldn’t fault a thing about our stay.

About the village The quiet and quaint Oxfordshire village of Swerford sits on the River Swere, four miles north-east of Chipping Norton. The hustle and bustle of the more popular Cotswold towns and villages has by-passed Swerford, perhaps why it is so well-preserved and picture-perfect. The village was first recorded in the Doomsday Book (1086) when Robert D’Oyley (a Norman who accompanied King William during his invasion of England) became the local landowner. The remains of a 12th century motte and bailey castle is open for visits, as well as the 13th century St Mary’s Church - partly built from stones taken from the castle. Often referred to as a ‘village in two parts’, Swerford’s Church End and East End are separated by a mile of countryside known as ‘Between Towns’. Hillside Cottage is in East End. Walkers will enjoy the easily accessible network of local footpaths, including one direct from Hillside Cottage to The Boxing Hare, and a 2.5-mile walk to the pretty village of Hook Norton. Hooky, as it’s affectionately called by locals, is well known to beer enthusiasts for its Victorian Tower brewery and delicious brews. Daily tours of the Hook Norton Brewery provide a chance to sample Hooky, Haymaker and Cotswold Pale beers - visitors may also like to eat breakfast, lunch or light meals at the Malthouse Kitchen Café and visit the free museum. Country lovers who prefer to visit the busier Cotswold towns, but stay in a quieter setting, will enjoy Hillside Cottage and Swerford’s rural charm. Sightseeing & Activities Swerford is less than 10 miles from several towns and villages, including Banbury (8.5 miles), Chipping Norton (5.3 miles) and Hook Norton (1.8 miles). The centre of Oxford is a 45-minute drive away (a handy Park & Ride is a 42-minute drive away), while several other well-known Cotswold towns and villages are within 20 miles, including Bourton-on-the-Water (17 miles), Stow-on-the-Wold (13 miles) and Moreton-in-Marsh (12.5 miles). Hillside Cottage is also conveniently located for visits to Bicester Village (18 miles), the designer outlet shopping centre, and Soho Farmhouse (4.5 miles), a popular wedding venue. • The cottage is exactly as in the photos, maybe a bit smaller but that is England. I would advise approaching the cottage from the other end of the drive, near the parking. We went in the described way, it is very narrow and steep with a stone wall on one side. Unfortunately it had rained slot and the driveway was muddy. The car slipped in spite of four wheel drive. After that we came in the other way and had no trouble at all. The cottage is very cosy and we had a lovely week in spite of cold, damp, foggy November weather. The Boxing Hare is definitely to be recommended.

  • Highly recommend this property for a weekend getaway with friends. Absolutely perfect!

    Jessica2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is easy to find from the directions and delightfully quiet and rural. Every room is full of character and very comfortable - for us having the aga was great (best toast) and the welcome basket was very thoughtful. There are some beautiful dog walks right from the front door. There isn’t a great deal else in Swerford (the church is worth a look). We had supper at the Boxing Hare which was very welcoming - excellent fish and chips.

  • We had a wonderful stay in this lovely cottage, it's in a great location close to Soho Farmhouse and was very clean!

    Isabelle2018-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is absolutely charming and decorated with lots of color and art. We loved it and found it to be wonderfully relaxing and a great getaway We were there during a cold spell and couldn't get the heat to work very well upstairs but we made a fire downstairs and it was wonderful. For any Americans thinking about coming, the driveway is tricky as it is extremely narrow with a rock wall on one side and fairly steep. Driving on it is a bit harrowing. I would definitely recommend arriving during daylight.

  • A gorgeous English country cottage, full of personality and charm (loved the books and paintings everywhere). The Aga gives warmth and welcome, and is great fun to cook with. Lovely welcome goodies (bread, butter, jam, marmalade...), and absolutely everything you'll need to make yourself at home. The setting is beautiful, private but within a small, pretty village, with lots of walks in unspoilt countryside. Handy for Oxford and some of the best Cotswold towns and villages. Very highly recommended.

This is an ideal location for exploring the pretty Cotswold villages and towns along with Oxford, Shakespeare’s Stratford, and the myriad of activities and attractions within the area available all year round. The cottage sits on a country lane that turns into a path which goes down to the pretty stream that meanders its way through the village.

There is a thriving large village shop and post office. From the village there are plenty of walks (The D'arcy Dalton Way runs nearby) and cycle rides in and around the Village, with many more pub-related ones published in the local CAMRA monthly magazine. The main village pub is just a stone's throw from the cottage and has a great chef and a regularly changing menu. With two other pubs in the Village and the Visitor Centre at the Brewery where you can sample the famous Hooky Ales, you will be spoilt for choice with places to eat and drink (all have roaring fires in the winter!). Further afield Bicester Village designer outlet site provides sufficient retail therapy for most people. Soho Farmhouse is ten minutes drive from the cottage.
  • An amazing place to stay the parking is a little on the tight side but other than that it was lovely. Very cosy cottage with a delicious fruit cake on arrival which went down very well in front of the log burner. There is plenty to do in the local area with the Hook Norton Brewery within walking distance and the pub which sells the beer practically next door. The pub has the most amazing food and was a lovely place. This house is the ideal place to go if you want a quiet cosy cottage in the countryside.

  • Well located two bedroom cottage within the beautiful Cotswolds village of Hook Norton. Very close to the Sun Inn a lovely village pub and 10 minute walk from the Hook Norton Brewery. The house is fully equipped for self catering stays with good kitchen and separate living room with wood burner. The bedrooms include a very large master and good sized double bedroom. Bathroom has good shower. Small garden which looked nice but given it was a Cold January weekend we didn't use it.

  • Beautifully presented cottage in the heart of a lovely Cotswold village. Perfect position for walking and exploring the outdoors. Rains and Mark were excellent hosts. The extra touches of homemade bread and milk in the fridge made all the difference. Thank you, we really enjoyed our stay !

  • Lovely cottage, came with fresh bread and eggs and milk and juice. Will definitely come back

    Gemma2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect spot for a weekend (or weekday) getaway. Raina and Mark gave us a warm welcome on a cold Friday night and the cottage was full of character. Spotlessly clean and all that we needed for our young family for a restful weekend. The cottage is an idyllic base to explore the Cotswolds and we made full use of the proximity to the local villages all within a short drive. The cottage itself is warm and modern with a rustic charm. Nice touches throughout and the local farm eggs and home made bread made for a great breakfast. We would definitely recommend and hope to be back one day!

    Pete2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Raina and her husband Mark have a beautiful property with several spaces/cottages to stay. Located near a pub and within 20-30 minutes of some of the most popular places in The Cotswolds, staying here was an absolute joy. Mark was fantastic in preparation for a massive storm over the weekend and made us feel very safe. We will certainly be staying here again

    Kyle2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage in a lovely location. Hosts were friendly and nearby if we needed anything, but allowed us the privacy to enjoy the cottage without interference. The fresh bread was delicious and a really lovely touch, as was the milk, orange juice, fresh farm eggs and tea and coffee. Cottage itself was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and warm. The kitchen was well equipped, although there is just a microwave oven (wasn't a problem for us but worth knowing in advance for other guests). Visited the Red Lion Inn in Long Compton on the host's recommendation - a nice pub with good food, would advise booking a table. Easy to reach plenty of locations by car within 30 minutes, and space to park just behind the cottage.

  • The place is exactly as described, very cute cottage near to a lot of local attractions in the cotsworlds. I can't fault the hospitality, lovely hosts who left many thoughtful touches making the cottage feel homely. It is in a great location with lots to do.

  • Lovely cosy cottage, very clean, with everything in great condition. Huge bedroom and a large and very comfortable bed, we slept so peacefully! We had a warm welcome from Mark and Raina, with a few much appreciated welcome items including absolutely delicious homemade bread. The only thing perhaps to note is there is not a proper oven- just a freestanding combi microwave / oven on the worktop which opens directly on to the hob (making access a bit tricky if you are using the hob at the same time). It was quite a struggle and time consuming to cook with (baked mushrooms and tomatoes, and a homemade lasagne were our efforts) - so maybe avoid anything too ambitious or stick to the hob. Everything else was wonderful and we would happily return. In terms of trips out that we enjoyed, we’d definitely recommend the Cotswold distillery (15 mins walk away) - well worth a visit for an hour or two. They produce gin and whisky and will happily chat to you about how it’s made, and encourage you to taste their different offerings, plus they also run tours and have a nice cafe. Chipping Campden is 20 mins drive away and really pretty for a stroll around a traditional Cotswold village. There are also some lovely walks nearby - we did one from Blockley, which is a beautiful unspoilt village near Moreton in Marsh with stunning views from the surrounding hills.

  • Beautiful place, Raina was so welcoming and gave great advice on local things to do. The fresh home made bread was amazing. Highly recommend.
