  • This was our second stay at Mark’s house, and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough. It is a beautiful house, both chic and cosy! It is also perfectly located for walks along the SW coastal path and for the pubs and restaurants of Porthleven.

  • Mark was a fantastic host, I hope we can return to Porthleven one day! Would 100% recommend. The cottage was stylish, cosy and in a great location. Enjoy!

  • A great little place to stay in a great little area..very friendly locals..great amenities inside with lovely little touches... it even had fresh flowers and a bottle of wine on the side. Would definitely recommend this place to others and would definitely return again.

  • The Old Stores is a gem ! Beautifully clean, decorated with lovely artwork, ornaments etc. a well equipped kitchen and lovely bedding and towels! The welcome pack was hugely appreciated and any questions we had were swiftly answered by Mark. We were warm and cosy by the fire watching the sea pound the pier from the living room, truly spectacular.

  • Had a lovely time staying in Porthleven. While we didn’t actually spend a huge amount of time in the house due to our hunger to explore, it was a great place to stay! Mark provided us with plenty of information in regards to the surrounding area and check-in was a breeze Will definitely look to book this place on our next visit

  • The Old Stores is a delight to stay in. Quirky, original, beautifully furnished with a great sea view from the upstairs living room and downstairs kitchen. Warm in winter, with comfortable bedrooms and a lovely bathroom. The beach is two minutes away and Porthleven has an excellent and varied range of eating options in walking distance as well as a good supermarket and fishmongers. If you get the weather to eat outside we liked The Mussel Shoal which has opened on the harbour front. Mark recommended some brilliant local walks. The Old Stores is a good choice for enjoying this beautiful part of Cornwall.

  • Stayed at the Old Stores in mid-November and the cottage was everything we expected and more. Mark provided loads of useful information and we were greeted by a charming welcome pack. Porthleven is a wonderful location and perfect base to explore Cornwall. Would thoroughly recommend on all fronts.

  • Beautiful place, easy check in. Loved it.

  • Great place! Very cozy and clean. We had problems with our car and Shirley and her husband helped us and gave us a lift to the town! Very helpful :-)

    Hannah2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Really tiny place but has everything you need for two people for a week. Great location, easy to find and great value. Only suggestion I would add is it could do with an extra chopping board and a curtain over the door, just for extra privacy. Thoroughly enjoyable stay, thanks :)

    Emily2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very accurate description, loved the character of the place. Any small problems that occurred were resolved very quickly. Even Storm Ciara couldn't 'dampen' our enjoyment.

    Martin2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • A really cosy little space handy location for all of the sights to see in the area, easy to get to and directions provided by Shirley make it easy to find.

    Sara2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for three nights in Winter and had a really lovely stay. Unfortunately the weather was pretty bad (can’t be helped) but we still had a great time regardless. The cottage is cosy and homely and very close to lots of towns and beaches. Would definitely recommend staying here as it has everything you’d want for a short stay away.

    Aimee2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little place tucked away but not a million miles from anywhere. Perfect for a couple nights but if your coming in winter you may want to bring an extra blanket!

A cosy but bright log cabin , in a sylvanian setting, just yards from a public bridleway alongside the River Cober. **Please Note - the price per night is for the first guest only. Additional guests are charged at a marginal extra cost ( shown in "Pricing" > "Extra charges " on the Airbnb site) Thank you :) ** ** NEW OCTOBER 2018 - NEW 4'6" double bed ** Sleeps 4 comfortably (one 4' 6" double bed, 1 single bed in a bedroom, 1 single bed in a curtained area) ...read more in details
"The cabin" is a log cabin, in an idyllic rural location, just a few yards from a small river, with stepping stones to a tree-lined public bridleway. It is very close to my own dwelling, but not intrusive, either way. It accommodates a maximum of 4 people. A cosy, but airy log cabin with one separate bedroom (1 single bed with another underneath it, to pull out if needed....but NB, this leaves no floor space ) a main room, open to the apex, with a 4' 6" double bed, a curtained area, offset to one side , with a single bed. The shower and toilet room is in an adjacent building (4 steps away) together with a separate kitchen/ dining room. Included in the price is electricity, water, linen, towels ( please bring your own beach towels) , basic kitchen cleaning equipment, tea, coffee, condiments and of course toilet tissue. Also soap and shampoo . There is a hair dryer in the cabin and a cooling fan can be provided if needed ( for those few tropical days/ nights...) There is access to a small paved garden area at the rear of the cabin, with chairs and a patio table This is quite private and just for your use. There is a small washing line , solely for your use, right outside of the cabin. There is access to a washing machine and tumble dryer (for a small extra charge via an honesty box) Also there is access to a small freezer. Our front garden is solely for our own family use. I will happily help you with any questions or recommendations , but I am equally happy to completely respect your total privacy. Our neighbourhood is beautiful, peaceful and calm, with just a few passing dog walkers and horse riders throughout the day, along the bridleway. It is a hamlet of about 80 dwellings, with a small library, converted from a telephone box! I know if you choose to holiday here, you will be keen to maintain the peace and tranquility. There is parking just for you (1 space) close to the cabin. There are no buses in Lowertown, but there are buses from Helston town, to visit The Lizard Peninsular, Truro, Falmouth, Penzance and Lands End areas. There are train stations in Falmouth, Penzance, Camborne, Redruth and Truro, to take you further "up the line" Included in the price is electricity, water, linen, towels ( please bring your own beach towels) , basic kitchen cleaning equipment, tea, coffee, milk, condiments and of course toilet tissue. There is a hair dryer in the cabin and a cooling fan can be provided if needed ( for those few tropical days/ nights...) there is a travel iron and ironing board in the kitchen area. There is a mini oven with two hob plates, in the kitchen. ( NOT A MICROWAVE) Please note the approximate internal area of the log cabin ( so the sleeping area ) is 20 square metres .
I love the tranquility of the neighbourhood. You can just about hear the river winding through the woods, the buzzards calling to each other , the green woodpecker calling........very little else.
  • Arrived during what must be considered a downpour!! river's swelling, wind blowing a hoot to be greeted by Bev whom i must say is a lovely lady. She showed us to the cabin and went through all amenities etc, even left us a welcome bottle of prosecco 👍(which we forgot to drink👎) Not your usual type of host that gets in your way but left us to it, knowing that if we required anything then all we had to do was ask. The cabin was sparkly clean and warm. Our kids loved the fact that they had there own space each, within a space! everything was perfect and a big up for Bev xxx

    Danny2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We just spent two lovely nights in Bevs beautiful log cabin. It was even better than we could have imagined. The cabin itself was gorgeous, very spacious and decorated lovely. The kitchen and bathroom spaces were also great. There was plenty of stuff provided to use and the amenities were wonderful. Bev was an exceptional host. She was incredibly helpful and polite. The little touches were wonderful, such as providing me with oat milk instead of cow milk. And the little chalk board welcoming us. It was in a lovely location, with some great walks just a matter of minutes away. We would definitely stay here again when we come back down to visit our family in helston.

    Ashleign2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay at Bev’s. The personal touches were lovely and everything was just as described. Bev was a wonderful host and the local area is stunning.

    Victoria2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you to Bev for hosting me and my sister for 2 nights in September. We arrived very late but from the great chekin instructions it was super easy to find. The cabin is so cute and exactly what we needed after a 7 hour drive! Kitchen and bathroom are literally steps away and are both better than you can imagine for the space. Really enjoyed our stay and will certainly return. Xx

    Samantha2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved Bev's log cabin, it is a minute away from the stepping stones on the river Cober leading to beautiful walks. The cabin is luxurious, cosy, clean, warm and had all we needed. The kitchen and shower room are very close by. Looking forward very much to going back.

    Caroline2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Bev’s cabin is a wonderful little home from home, it was a perfect base for our exploration in Cornwall. The facilities were excellent and the cabin was cosy without being too small. Bev was lovely and I hope she enjoyed the hen do! My only regret was that we couldn’t stay for longer.

    Kemlo2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay at Bevs so i went with high expectations knowing how good the first stay had been; I was not disappointed! Bevs cabin continues to be a little hideaway within easy reach of lots of exciting places. Lots of lovely thoughtful touches which make the stay that extra special.

    Grace2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Bev is a fantastic, helpful host. The cabin is good for four people, great for three and absolutely superb for just the two of us as we each had a “dressing room”. I am notoriously untidy so my wife loved having a room for me to be able to leave things around without them being in public view. I digress. The cabin is in the perfect location for touring western Cornwall from Newquay at one end and Lands End (pun) at the other. You are not even far from the most southerly point (the Lizard). We visited all these and more. P.S. Perranporth was our personal favourite but Porthleven is a lovely coastal/beachy village only a couple of miles away. People who have read my previous reviews (not on AirBnB as this was our first time) will know I am fixated by bathrooms and a hatred of fixed head showers. Bev’s is absolutely fine, with the ability of using the shower as a hand held or not. Hot water is virtually instantaneously and powerful. In fact there is no negative for me as far as the bathroom is concerned. (That must be a first!). You can use the attached kitchen to cook if you like, but we used it more of as a food store for evening treats, there are LOADS of good places to eat within a mile or so of the cabin. Fridge for my hams and cheeses, a freezer for my ice-cream, what more can a man want? (LIDL is just around the corner, you can even walk there over the stepping stones) I won't recommend any food outlets as your tastes will surely be different from ours EXCEPT make sure you go for the Sunday Lunch carvery at the Wheal Dream Golf Club restaurant about 1/2 a mile up the (Redruth) road. We did (twice!). Be careful there are a lot of very narrow, winding, one-car width roads all over Cornwall, that your navigation system will absolutely love to send you down, so prepare to drive in a relaxed manner and give way (after all – you are on holiday). Negatives – I just don’t have any. Think ….. I probably would not book this accommodation in winter, purely because of the location. I personally couldn’t face driving the roads. See how I am struggling.

Cosy one bedroom cottage in Gunwalloe moments from the beach and village pub. Sitting room with woodburner and Garden room.
Gunwalloe is an area of outstanding natural beauty with three beaches. There is a village pub serving good food within a few steps of the cottage.
  • Beth’s place was exactly as described and everything was just perfect. We arrived to lit candles, heating on, fire prepared and fresh scones - the most delightful welcome! The cottage was so warm and cosy and incredibly quiet - we’ve never slept so soundly. We arrived by car and we had an allocated parking space. The beach is less than a 5 minute walk away and it was idyllic. We would definitely stay at Beth’s again, and I would highly recommend it friends and family.

    Nathalie2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place and very thoughtful preparation for our stay. We'd happily stay there again!

    Jane2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Just charming. Wonderful little cottage, amazing attention to detail. Loved the scones on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble. Just lovely. Thankyou.

    Tamara2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect getaway. Beth's place is full of so many thoughtful details that come together to make it such a unique place to stay. The carpentry, the decor, the reclaimed furniture... all beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay during a blustery February, and despite so much to see and do in the area, found it hard to leave the cosy cottage every morning. We'll definitely be back.

    Ben2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Sea Garden Cottage was lovely. Gunwalloe is a small coastal village with great walking options. Beth greeted us warmly and had left us scones, jam & clotted cream plus a bit of milk. The cottage has everything you need for a stay, and is very cozy and clean. We used the cooker a couple of times and it worked great. The bed was very comfy with an awesome thick duvet. Overall a great stay and we’re already looking at return dates. Thank you Beth!

    Des2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Beths cottage was a perfect little getaway in a tiny little village in Cornwall. The beach was 2 minute walk and perfect for our little dog as the coast stretched for miles. Everything we needed was in the cottage we barely needed to use the log burner as it was very cosy already. We had candles and cream tea on arrival. Top cottage and value for money

    Sam2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Sea view cottage was everything that we wanted for a weekend away and much more. It was super cosy and loved the attention of detail that Beth has put in the house. The fireplace was all ready to fire when we got there, so it saved us a lot of time as well. Will definitely be back :)

    Paula2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage with so many thoughtful touches. Beth and Dan were really friendly and accommodating and the homemade scones on arrival were just lovely. Location is stunning, a 5 minute walk to the beach and the pub a few doors down is very welcoming and serves great food. My dog and I had a lovely restful couple of days and hope to be back in the Summer.

  • A lovely and warm converted stable, nicely decorated. It was perfect for a few days break from home exploring the Lizard. It was also quiet which really suited us. The owners were friendly too.

  • Feeling sad to leave this little place that I've adopted as my home for the last few weeks, and it really does feel like home. I owe Judy and her family a massive thankyou for their kindness and hospitality but also for this place where I was able to come to get my Dissertation finished. I truly couldn't have done it without the peace of The Stables. The place has everything you would need. The kitchen has everything allowing me to cook every day, the bed is super super comfortable, great hot shower. Even though it's not massive, it functions as a bedroom, kitchen, lounge (TV and sofa), dining room and more. The location is stunning, it sits on what used to be a working farm amongst a couple of othe places Judy rents and with Judy's beautiful farm house nearby. It has been perfectly quite and private when I have needed it and perfectly friendly when I've needed something or fancied a chat. The surrounding coast line has some very beautiful beaches and towns, Porthlevan which is 5 mins in the car is a really stunning harbour town on the hill with views of the lizard and really good food, fish, cafe's etc. On that note I would say, and this is likely to be true for many places in cornwall, that this would not have been as much fun without the car. It probebrly wouldn't be very easy. Truly that's about the most negative thing I can think to say about this place. Oh and that the place needs a cheese grater:)!! Thanks again to Judy and her family. I will be back, I'm almost certain. Alistair

  • What a lovely place to stay! Spotlessly clean, so many lovely little touches, and the bed is unbelievably comfy! Just be aware the track up to the property is very bumpy...lowered cars will not make it!

  • Amazing location and a great flat to stay in. A very short walk from the beautiful porthleven town and picturesque harbour. Great facilities and the kitchen is really well stocked for cooking. Also a lovely lounge, dining kitchen area for relaxing in the evening. We were a bit worried about the noise from the pub from other reviews but it wasn’t a problem...only a bit of noise on Saturday night. Thank you Kim for a great place at a very reasonable price, we loved it!

We were not aware of any late night noise despite being above a pub, even though there was a match on at the nearby football ground. For a couple wanting a quiet getaway its lovely, just a 5 minute walk to the harbour. Sparking clean too.

  • Probably the best Airbnb I’ve stayed in! Would highly recommend. Great location in a lovely seaside village, easy to get to other locations in south Cornwall such as Lands End, Praa sands and St Ives. The place was beautiful, clean and stylish. Laura was an amazing host. Couldn’t fault anything!

  • I visited with my wife. Pipedream is a delightful place to stay. On our arrival, Laura met us and made us feel very welcome. The place was spotless and really felt like home from home. The location, just a few 100 feet from the the harbour was superb and very close to coffee shops, the local pub and a range of small craft shops. Overall, an excellent stay and I hope it’s not too long before we can come back.

Porthleven, once a busy working harbour and boat building centre, is rapidly growing in popularity among holiday makers in Cornwall. Now famed for it's excellent variety of restaurants, pasty shops and coffee shops you are spoilt for choice when it comes to places to eat. On a calm day the beach is the perfect spot for a walk or relax in the sun. There are also great walks out to Loe beach and beyond to the East and out towards Rinsey to the West. Porthleven also just happens to be one of the UKs premier surfing spots. Porthleven is well situated in the West of Cornwall with the expansive beaches of St Ives Bay and St Ives itself only 30mins away by car on the North Coast. The famous St Michaels Mount and Newlyn and Mousehole beyond are again around a 30 minute drive away on the South Coast. To the East of Porthleven is the Lizard Peninsula which boasts the most Southerly point in the UK and many beautiful coves. 40 minutes to the West is Lands End the most Westerly point of the UK.
  • A great base to explore Porthleven - can walk into the village in 5-10 mins.

  • Great stay. Clean, easy access and worth the money

    Sam2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to visit, and lovely walks by the Loe pool, beautiful and lovely to have the kitchenette included

    Sarah2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • David and Pippa were lovely and welcoming (thank you for the biscuits!). Their studio is a perfectly located a 10 minute amble (down quite a steep hill) from the centre of Portlethen and all it's loveliness. Argel has everything you could need. We ate at Amelies and The Ship Inn and can recommend both.

    Victoria2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • David and Pippa were extremely accommodating and great communication online. Their studio is only a short 10 minute walk from the centre of Porthleven and great access to the rest of Cornwall. We were down for a wedding and this was the perfect stop over for us. Thanks for the Cornish ginger biscuits too!

    Luke2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time in Porthleven. The studio was beautifully presented and had everything we needed for our stay. Pippa and David made us feel very welcome and we would definitely recommend their place. The town is a short walk away with some great places to eat. I think our only regret was not spending much daytime in the town (and enjoying the beach) but only because we were out and about in other parts of Cornwall - really well located for seeing the south coast.

    Emma2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at David & Pippa's. Porthleven is a lovely little place, and also a perfect central location for exploring other areas along the Cornish coast. The hosts were very welcoming and happy to offer information on the local area if we needed it. The apartment was really clean and cosy too. Would recommend!

I have a delightful traditional Cornish fisherman's cottage a stone's throw from Porthleven's beautiful harbour, award-winning restaurants, cafes, pubs, shops, beach and stunning coastal walks as well as playing host to the countries best surf spot. The cottage is cosy & comfortable with a wood burning stove and fully equipped for self catering and a great stay. It has two bedrooms - a kingsize bed in one and bunk beds in the other. The deck at the front is a real sun trap for relaxing on.
  • Sunshine Cottage is in a great location close to the harbour and local shops. Robyn was extremely accommodating, going out of her way for our last minute request to check in early. The information we received for parking etc was really helpful and the cottage itself is very clean, cosy and comfortable. We’ll definitely be back!

    Lynda2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage in a great location. We really enjoyed our Christmas stay. Robyn is a really thoughtful host who ensured be enjoyed our stay at Sunshine Cottage.

    Thomas2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was the second time we have stayed here, and it was just as great as we had remembered! The cottage is lovely and cosy, with everything you need to make it a great home away from home. Robyn is always super speedy to respond to messages, and directions, parking and check-in was very clear and easy to follow. It's in a great location close to the harbour, shops, pubs and restaurants (and the amazing chippy!)

    Chloe2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Robyn's cottage is the perfect complement to visiting coastside Porthleven. We enjoyed our stay, and when we had just a couple of questions, Robyn was super quick to answer. The cottage is cute and offers a kitchen we used to make a number of meals. The cottage is on a small street that is very quiet. Yet in moments you can meander in town and on the pier and beach, enjoy coffee/tea at cafes, and dine at a good choice of restaurants. Porthleven is very close to lovely hiking and walking paths, as well as a multitude of other fun activities. I'd be happy to stay at Robyn's again.

Great location too—we loved walking around (only takes a min to walk to shopping, restaurants and the harbor). Rebecca was a wonderful, kind host and the place was spotless. Airy double room in a traditional Cornish cottage. We are very happy to host guests for one-night stays - our cottage is very close to the harbour with harbour views and is ideal for walkers, cyclists, surfers and those wanting to explore the area. Porthleven is a busy Cornish fishing village.
We provide an optional cooked breakfast at no additional cost. Please let us have dietary requirements soon after booking.
It is reliably reported that Porthleven is Heaven. The village is becoming a gastro-experience destination with a Rick Stein restaurant, tv chefs such as Jude Kerema at Kota and Kota Kai, Amelies recently featured on tv, and a host of smaller and good cafes and pubs. Four pubs all serving food are within walking distance of our cottage.
  • We had a great time staying here for one night. Couldn’t have asked for more. A very comfortable bed space with close access to shower and lounge space. Dick and Jane were very helpful hosts and clearly love providing guests with a good experience. Very tasty breakfast - perfect for walkers!

  • Sue's place surpassed expectations even with the great reviews from other people. Lovely, friendly and an immaculate and very stylishly done decor and furnishings wise, a very short walk into Porthleven. So many lovely touches, from warm scones and wine in the fridge to the gorgeous garden with both lights and power. Can't recommend it highly enough!

    Claire2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Merrilee offers stunning holiday cottage accommodation in which to explore the beautiful location of Porthleven and surrounding areas. Sue’s hospitality and attention to detail as host is second to none with lovely touches such as cream tea and wine to welcome guests on arrival. The cottage itself is spacious and finished to a high standard, comfortably accommodating our family of four plus pooch. Highly recommended and we will be sure to return.

  • Sue has been the most amazing host this week. The cottage is simply lovely. It has absolutely everything you'd need. It's incredibly clean which is always a deal breaker for me. It's a few minutes walk from the quay but quiet ( apart from the Gulls !). It was so nice to get into the cottage to find a cream tea waiting for us...a really thoughtful touch. A massive thankyou Sue, you've created the perfect holiday home and we can't wait to return xx

  • What a wonderful surprise to arrive at this beautiful cottage. Everything was perfect and far better than experienced elsewhere. With the welcoming cream tea and chilled white wine very welcome after a 4 hour drive. Sue has many lovely little touches and all instructions were clear on how to use everything so nothing left us confused or having to guess. The central location meant everything we needed was a short walk away and parking in the street in front of the cottage, or at least very close, was no problem. Although Sue lives on site she left us to our own devices and we didn't feel inhibited. However, when we met up long, fun conversations meant we learnt much about the area and felt more like friends than guests. A fantastic cottage in a glorious location and wonderful host. Book early as she is understandably popular. We will be coming back, that's for sure.

Porthleven exudes Cornish charm and tradition. Set in the middle of a huge sweeping bay, the beach at Porthleven is ideal for a relaxing family holiday. Porthleven has an impressive harbour, construction commenced during Napoleonic times and some sources state that it was built with the aid of French prisoners of war. Small fishing boats land their daily catch, much of which is sold in Porthleven's cafes and restaurants and the award winning Quayside fishmongers. The harbour was completed in 1825 and there are a wealth of traditional Cornish pubs and restaurants. The beach under Loe Bar Rd is a glorious expanse of golden sand which can provide stunning surf. The nearest large supermarkets are in Helston and Penzance.Praa Sands in the South West of Cornwall is located between Helston and Penzance. The town contains many facilities including a shop, pub, post office and Praa Sands Gold Club. Apart from the beach at Porthleven there are numerous others from Rinsey Head to Hoe Point is extremely popular with the whole family, Prussia Cove, Perranuthnoe & Marazion beaches are all within a few minutes drive. When the North Coast is 'blown out' you will find the surfers flock to Praa Sands for its powerful waves coming straight in from the Atlantic Ocean. Just inland from the beach is Pengersick Castle which dates back to the Bronze Age.Porthleven is central for the areas and villages of the Lizard, Helford, Land's End and Mousehole. Facilities for golf, sailing, course and sea fishing are all available within two miles. You can take country and coastal walks or visit local country pubs for well-priced meals or shop in the local super stores at Helston and Penzance. There are a wealth of gardens to explore. The mines at Lelant, Geevor, Bottalack and Poldark are a short drive away. The Minack Theatre and Porthcurno beach are well worth a visit. There are world famous art galleries at St Ives and Newlyn. The Lighthouse on the Lizard Peninsula is the most Southerly point in Great Britain, having stood since 1751 warning passing ships of the infamous 'Man O' War rocks'. The Lizard has so much to offer for such a remote location. Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station is the world's largest satellite earth receiving station with over 60 communications dishes. Poldhu Cove, home of Marconi's first transatlantic radio message in 1901. The National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek moved to its current location in 1975 and is home to grey seals and common seals, as well as Californian and Patagonian sea lions. The sanctuary often rescue other marine life as well when demand requires.Trebah Gardens at Mawnan Smith is a 25 acre sub tropical privately owned gardens set above the Helford River. Nearby Glendurgan Gardens boasting a recently refurbished 177 year old laurel maze, is now owned by the National Trust. For a fun-filled family day out why not visit The Flambards Experience, offering more rides, amusements and exhibitions than anywhere else in Cornwall. On the Helford River sits Frenchman's Creek where Daphne du Maurier spent her honeymoon dreaming of the Cornish villages that set the scene for her novels.Helston was originally a thriving port until the river silted up over the years; where the river joins the sea is now Cornwall's largest freshwater lake. Helston is a busy market town with plenty of Victorian and Georgian architecture. The Monument is an impressive building at the end of Coinaghall Street which was built in 1834 in memory of Humphry Millet Grylls, whose actions kept open the local tin mine and saved 1200 jobs. Possibly one of the country's oldest privately owned brewery's can also be found in Coinaghall Street; The Blue Anchor was originally used as a rest house for monks and became a tavern in the 15th century. It now makes a strong local brew called Spingo. Helston is probably best known for the 'furry' or floral dance which is held every May. Flora Day kicks off with the Hal-an-Tow where St George and St Michael slay the dragon and the devil, cheered on by the locals dressed in Elizabethan costumes. The main dancing starts at midday with participants dressed in ball gowns and top hats and tails. For children of all ages there is Flambards Theme Park next to Culdrose Air Base famous for many air sea rescue missions. There are sights to be seen around Goonhilly Earth station where the large dish Arthur is now a listed building. Try your hand at riding a 2 wheeled Segway. These together with the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek provide any holidaymaker with a wealth of interesting visits.

Kick back with a good book in a cosy living room as a fire glows in the wood-burning stove. Take an early walk on the beach, then rustle up brunch in a sparkling-white kitchen with wooden counters. Relax in the tub and slow right down to holiday pace in this charming cottage.
This used to be our home. It's a lovely, light and airy renovated cottage that's been kitted out with all new furniture and mod cons including a dishwasher, coffee machine and more - the little things that make holiday life what it should be. There's an open plan dining and living room with kitchen off the rear and two bedrooms - one king and one with two single beds as well as a generously sized bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle. We're parents and so we know what it's like having to pack the car up for holidays. That's why we can provide a travel cot on request and also offer a 'kids pack' for smaller children which includes a buggy, baby bath, high chair toys and more - ask for full details and save space in your car (it's free). There's also an optional stair guard fitted at the top of the stairs. Following feedback from our guests this year we have now added a freezer, tumble dryer and a new mattress in the main bedroom to make the place even easier to love.
Set in Porthleven, the cottage is within striking distance of the harbour, beach, and lots of great restaurants. There's an array of great Cornish attractions a short drive away, including St Michael's Mount and the Seal Sanctuary in Gweek.
  • Such a beautiful home from home! This house was perfect for our mini break to Cornwall - located on a quiet little road only a short walk from the harbour itself. The house has been decorated beautifully and is exactly like the pictures shown. We stayed for 5 nights and felt that the location of the house was perfect for exploring other parts of South Cornwall as well as Porthleven itself - there are so many lovely places to eat and drink, we actually didn’t have time to get around all of them! The house itself was exceptionally clean and tidy, with everything u would want for staying away from home; the under floor heating was so lovely given the fact that we stayed during the end of October when it was freezing outside! There is no designated parking space for the house but we found that we could always park either right outside or just a little down the street, as there weren’t many other cars parked there during our stay.

  • Such a beautiful home, one of the best Airbnb’s we’ve ever stayed in. We felt very relaxed, the woodburner was amazing and we loved the artwork in the cottage. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Anchorage to friends and family.

  • Excellent cottage for a perfect stay in a beautiful town- well worth a visit! Susie & Chris advised us of the best watering-holes and the cottage couldn’t of been better equipped - particularly in the kitchen. 2 comfy sofas, log fire, warm underfloor heating, shower AND bath. Everything u need for a winter break and warm up. Highly recommended!

    Josephine2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Suzie and Chris's cottage. The range of thoughtful amenities for kids made our lives so much easier with our one year old. Thank you so much!

  • Great property for easy access of the town, while still on a quite road. Nice property. Clean, comfortable and tidy, equipped with everything you'd need for a week away. We were always able to find a parking space on the road, if not always outside the house. Porthleven is a great town. Definitely underrated compared to some of the more usual Cornwall hotspots.

    Thomas2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We can highly recommend the Anchorage. Great location and beautifully presented. Such a lovely place to come home to following a day of exploring. Everything you need has been provided - you just have to turn up and unpack. We loved the fact we could be in the harbour within minutes, with all it has to offer. We were very lucky with the weather and had a lovely week visiting beautiful locations that were within easy reach.

    Donna2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, just a few minutes walk from the shops and restaurants in the town. The cottage is cosy and well equipped, and a great base to explore the area.

Trevose is a stylish, 2 bed, 1 shower room, pet friendly cottage in the old part of Porthleven, 5 mins walk to the harbour. Ideal for couples or small families, we are a short stroll to the harbour with its restaurants, pubs and beach. We have fast wifi, a fully equipped kitchen, modern bathroom with walk in shower, 3 smart TV's with Netflix/Prime and a lovely wood burner in the open plan living area. Our guests love our comfy beds and feeling this is their 'home from home' during their stay.
We renovated our cottage in 2013 and love everything about it and the area! We have a very well equipped kitchen, with granite worktops, large fridge freezer induction hob and oven, Nespresso machine, microwave and everything you possibly need to cater for yourselves. We have a open plan living and dining room with a granite fireplace with wood burner and plenty of logs! Outside there is a private courtyard for that evening drink and is a secure area for kayaks, surf boards or bikes. The master bedroom is bright and airy and can be set as a king or twin (please advise) and the second has a double bed, both with smart TV's with Netflix/Prime for those movie nights. There is fast broadband/wifi and a hairdryer, cot, high chair, iron board and iron available. Both bedrooms share a fully tiled bathroom with walk in shower. We welcome well behaved dogs. We chose our house as we so love the location of Porthleven. After spending many holidays in gloriously remote areas, we found ourselves pulling straws as to who drove out each evening, so the amenities of Porthleven harbour is really great for foodies like us. Our house is a short walk into the harbour where there are numerous award winning restaurants; Seadrift, Amelies, The Square, Rick Steins and Kota Kai, as well as excellent pubs all serving food. There is a fantastic community spirit in Porthleven - if your lucky to be there in the summer on a Sunday don't miss the local brass band playing, or you can while away the time watching the boats in the harbour or children jumping in whilst enjoying a G&T or ice-cream! We have a great local beach with the iconic Clock Tower at its head, plus there are amazing and contrasting beaches all within a short drive away. Our favourites include Praa Sands, Kynance Cove, Poldhu, Dollar and Church Cove (for Poldark and Doc Martin fans) and we are in easy reach of Mullion, Lands End, Sennen, Cape Cornwall, Zennor and historic mining country around Botallack. The other side of the Lizard is Coverack, Cadgwith Cove and the Helford river with numerous coves and sandy beaches. We are close to Falmouth, Mylor and St Mawes. It is very easy to get off the beaten track in our area and find a spot all for yourselves! Within a half an hour drive North is St Ives, or you can park and take the spectacular train journey from Lelant or St Erth, and you can bring your furry friend on the train too. Nearby Hayle boasts some spectacular beaches with Porthkidney a favourite as it is dog friendly all year round, as is Porthleven beach (East side) and many others locally including Dollar Cove, Rinsey and Kenneggy Sands.
Porthleven is a very impressive harbour set in the centre of Mounts Bay. Although it is a tourist spot, it still has a thriving community with wonderful people. With fisherman landing their catch daily and a great fishmonger in the village, it boasts a small supermarket selling local produce, bakers and green grocers as well as numerous independent shops, galleries and cafe's. Close to the harbour is Penrose estate and Loe Pool, Cornwall's largest freshwater lake separated from the sea by a sand and shingle bar. There are numerous walks around Penrose estate, taking you across streams, sand and wooded areas, and you can hire cycles with trailers for children from nearby Helston to enjoy the area further. You can walk from Porthleven on the SW coastal path towards either The Lizard or Lands End both with spectacular views! It is a very beautiful area of Cornwall.
  • Siobhan was a great host and her cottage was just perfect for the week with our 2 dogs. The welcome tray comprising of local products was a lovely touch and the cottage has everything you need. All shops, restaurants and beeches are within walking distance. Recommend Kota (tasting menu) for dinner!

  • Trevose exceeded our expectations!. It is a very comfortable and stylish cottage that has been refurbished to a really high standard. My wife and I stayed at Trevose for 3 days in February and used Porthleven as a base to explore. We had a fantastic time. Porthleven is a great little harbour town with everything you could want, including some excellent options for dining. Siobhan was a fantastic host, very welcoming and surprised us with some very thoughtful little touches, including a Cornish Cream Team on arrival - just the thing after a long journey. I cannot recommend Trevose highly enough. If you are planning a trip to west Cornwall and want a stylish and comfortable base, then Trevose should most definitely be on your shortlist!

    Andrew2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our 3rd trip and won’t be the last. The house is wonderful; spotlessly clean, very well equipped, in a great location and Siobhan is so nice to communicate with. Highly recommended.

  • A lovely cottage, beautifully presented, very comfortable and warm! It's just a short walk into Porthleven with lots of interesting shops, cafés and restaurants. And all "dog-friendly". We liked the Ship pub and had a very nice meal there. The Seadrift was fantastic. Really great fish. It was good just to stroll around the harbour and relax, although our dog preferred racing around the beach! Visited the Lizard and St Ives, both a short drive away and had some great walks. Wished we'd booked for longer and will return! Thank you, Siobhan

  • This cottage is perfect; it is so well equipped, comfortable and clean. We cooked a big roast on the Sunday which obviously involves using quite a bit of kitchen equipment but absolutely everything we needed was there, easy peasy. The location is ideal, 5 minute walk down to the harbour/shops. Siobhan was very quick to respond to any questions we had and is simply a fantastic host. We would definitely stay there again and hope to be back soon!

    Jake2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our second trip to This fantastic cottage. We had quite forgotten what a gem it is. Fantastically equipped and spotless ; a mere few minutes from the harbour. A cream tea and local cider were left waiting for us; a thoughtful treat. We would return without hesitation .

  • A very nice cottage very close to the village with views over the sea sea. It is very well appointed and quiet even with the strong winds that we experienced. The village has a few nice restaurants and shops. Very enjoyable and we'd return when in the area again.

  • We had the most wonderful week at Tom and Kath’s barn - so good we almost want to keep it to ourselves! The barn is beautifully appointed with everything you need for a relaxing week. Our hosts even left several local treats for us to enjoy upon arrival which made us feel incredibly welcome. The barn is situated in a stunning location - I never got tired of waking up to the incredible view of the coastline every day. Overall, we can’t recommend Trequean Barn enough, and we are already making plans to return next year.

  • Great location because in a few minutes you are in the small town of Porthleven, a wonderful fishing village, a British tourist destination. The beach is also beautiful and can be reached in just a few minutes. The cabin is very cozy even if small. The bathroom is large, new and well equipped. Do not underestimate the reserved parking space that, in these small countries, is always difficult to find. Jules and John were very nice and helpful and made us feel at home. If we have the chance we will definitely return to the Top Noch.

The kitchen leads through to the (double) shower room with sink and toilet. Please note it is necessary to go down 2 flights of stairs to get from the bedroom to the shower room / toilet. Shared right of way at the back gives access to washing line and limited space to sit outside the back door (with a glass of wine or cuppa!) Free on street parking is available. The cottage is located within 2 minutes walk from the town centre and 5 minutes from the beach.
  • We had a wonderful stay: really comfortable cottage, a short walk to the harbour, good local amenities and some lovely walks (we recommend the circular walk round the lake at Loe Bar). And the Christmas lights at Mousehole! Communication with Emma was excellent: thank you!

    Sarah2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is exactly as described and in reality much more spacious than what the pictures look like. The kitchen is well equipped, the bed was very comfortable, everything was spotless and the wood stove was a great extra. The cottage is incredibly cozy. The location is also very good, you are within minutes in the center, where Porthleven has a lot to offer. From the bedroom window you can even see a tiny piece of the sea. The communication with Emma was also very good. We initially had problems with the Internet, which Emma immediately took care of, and even ordered a technician who got the internet working again in our absence. We would come back anytime!

  • It is a nice apartment and we enjoyed it very much

    Martina2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great holiday in Cornwall and Emma's Cottage has helped a lot. It is very centrally located in Porthleven, which makes great walks or just spend a day at the beach. The cottage is small but also very cozy, perfect for 2 people. It is lovingly decorated and we had everything we needed. With a bit of luck, you can park right outside the front door, but most of the time you can also find a place nearby. Restaurants are abundant in Porthleven, and hardly any is more than 5 minutes' walk from the cottage. However, even if you want to cook yourself on a rainy day, that's no problem at all. In the local supermarket, which is also only 3 minutes away, you will find everything for it. The communication with Emma worked out wonderfully, with questions she answered us always fast and helpful. All in all, our stay was great and we recommend the property.

  • Had fabulous week, charming fisherman's cottage, easy check in and out. Everything u need for a comfortable stay in a great location, very close walk to a very pretty harbour, easy parking on street. Would definitely stay again. Great host who communicated very quickly. Highly recommended.

  • What a lovely cottage in a lovely village! Porthleven is a true beauty and this cottage is a beautiful homebase for exploring Southern Cornwall. 100 percent recommended

    Adrian2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage. Very cosy and comfortable and in a brilliant location. Emma’s a very good host and gave us lots of really useful local information. Highly recommended.

    Dan2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location to walk into Porthleven and enjoy this beautiful little town. Porthleven itself is perfectly situated to explore the South West of Cornwall, this cottage really is the ideal base! As mentioned in previous reviews it really is far more spacious than the photos suggest. Brilliantly equipped with all the essentials you will need to self cater. So cosy and comfortable, immediately felt at home. The gulls can be a bit noisy in the early hours, so if you are a light sleeper, earplugs might be a good idea. But apart from that a really peaceful little street. Highly recommend!

Baker's Store sits among miner's cottages in the beautiful village of Breage. Entirely self-contained, the space is small but perfectly formed, with a cosy wood-burning stove. Dedicated outdoor space offers parking and alfresco dining. The village shop and pub are a short walk. Porthleven, with excellent harbour-side restaurants, is a 5 minute drive. Breage is perfectly placed for exploring the south and north coasts. Incredible local beaches at Rinsey Cove and Praa Sands are only moments away.
Beautifully newly-renovated Baker’s Store is small but perfectly formed, ideal for a couple’s getaway. With high ceilings and exposed beams, sunny south-facing sky lights, it also has a cosy log burner in the living area, and an electric heater should you need it. The bedroom has a comfortable double bed with under-bed storage. Off the bedroom there is the basic en-suite shower room, with electric shower, wash basin and toilet. The kitchen is newly-installed and well-equipped for a variety of home cooking. Outdoor dining space with table and two chairs. There is no tv in the cottage, but a selection of books and board games are provided!
The cottage is situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Breage, which has a popular pub, village shop, as well as a great garden centre and tearoom a short walk out of the village. Just a few minutes drive away is Porthleven, a vibrant fishing village famous for its harbour and beaches, as well as plenty of great cafes and restaurants. The beautiful and secluded Rinsey Cove is just minutes away by car, as is the popular surfing beach Praa Sands. Breage really is perfectly situated for visiting both north and south coasts, as well as all the other local villages and attractions. We are 30mins from St Ives, Lizard Point, Lands End and Falmouth.
  • I can't fault our stay here. Lovely hosts and accommodation was actually nicer than shown online. Would be lovely in summer. 5 star hosts for sure.

  • I had a lovely stay at Alice and Gregg’s cottage! The space itself was super cute, clean, and equipped with everything you need for a stay. Furthermore, Alice and Gregg were very accommodating. I was without a car in Breage and they were kind enough to bring me extra wood and coal to keep the fire going. Much appreciated! With extra touches like homemade lemon biscuits, milk, coffee, and tea, the trip was made even better. I highly recommend staying here and can voice that it’s easy to travel to neighboring villages with Cornwall’s bus system!

    Callie2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Alice’s place! It is super cosy with everything you need for a perfect stay and the basket of firewood is a really nice touch. It’s also in a great location to explore Cornwall. We would highly recommend Alice’s place to everyone.

    Véronique2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • A great teeny tiny cottage in a good location for Mounts Bay and the surrounding attractions. We loved the wood burning stove, such a treat on a cold day! Local pub within walking distance was great on Friday night, good atmosphere and so nice to not have to drive! Check-in and communications all really easy. Thank you to Alice and Gregg for having us. We will definitely be back!!

  • Had a lovely stay here. It was so welcoming with lovely touches which made it so homely. Alice and Gregg were great hosts, really helpful and answering our messages quickly. The place itself is cosy, the log burner was a personal favourite feature. Thanks for a great stay!

Mazal Studio is a self contained annex, with a double bedroom with shower, separate WC and basin and a basic kitchen/utility room. Although there are no facilities to cook as such there is a small microwave oven for your convenience, and a fridge you are more than welcome to bring food in. We are situated a short distance from Helston town centre and are very close to Coronation Park and the Boating Lake, also the beautiful Penrose walk down to Loe Bar.
Mazal House was built in the early 1980s and is a modern well situated detached property. It overlooks the boating lake and park. Mazal Studio is located at the rear of the property and enjoys a private entrance with off road parking, and over looks the rear decked area of the main property.
Mazal house is situated at the bottom of the historic town of Helston, famous for its annual Flora day celebrations and situated near the main road to the Lizard Peninsula. There are national trust parks nearby and there are pleasant walks to the coast through the Penrose estate, which hosts a weekly park run every Saturday morning . We are also well situated for those people walking the famous Cornish coastal path.
  • Great hosts. We really enjoyed staying at Maz’s place. It was really good value, nicely self-contained and Helston works really well as a hub for accessing the South West Coastpath Path via the local bus network.

My place is close to pubs, restaurants, the town beach, the village harbour and the Southwest Coast Path. My place is good for couples or friends (see cost per person), solo adventurers, and well-behaved dogs that won't stress out my old lurcher, Pepe. The room can be set up as two singles or one double. Let me know which set up you want when you book. Instead of Full English breakfast I offer traditional Danish breakfast including yogurt, muesli and homemade sourdough ryebread.
I'm within walking distance of fabulous real ale pubs and award winning restaurants which all line the harbour. The southwest coast path is a stone's throw away, and the village is packed with quirky shops. There's also a small supermarket, a deli and a post office.
  • Nice, quiet, comfortable, clean room, 5 minutes walk to the port Porthleven. Your dog Inga is so loveley.

  • We had an amazing stay at Linda's Airbnb and would definitely recommend! Linda is a lovely host - she makes a great breakfast every morning and is really helpful with tips for exploring the local area. It is a perfect location for accessing the Lizard peninsula and Land's End as it is close to both and there is on street parking by the house. It is also a very short walk down to Porthleven which has some nice pubs, a beach, great fish & chips and a nice cafe for cream tea!

  • A great place to stay to explore Cornwall. The breakfast was lovely and Linda had lots of useful tips for us.

    Sophie2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • The house is within walking distance to the beach and local restaurants. Do try the lovely Cornish pastries and the local Spilgo ale. Linda’s place was very clean and cozy. The bathroom was so stylish with a nicely sized bath. The tea tray is a nice extra touch. Linda gave us some local tips and even let us put our bikes in the garage (not the best place to cycle). The silver lining has to be the outstanding breakfast cooked to perfection by Linda. Extremely recommended!

    Naia2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's accommodation is located in a quiet residential street a few minutes walk from the harbor. From the window you can see the sea. The room is bright and modern. The bathroom is modern and sparkling clean. Linda serves a cooked breakfast in her breakfast room. We can only recommend a stay with her.

    Paul2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was a great host. Our room had a lovely en-suite that was sparkling clean and a good shower. Tea and coffee making facilities were available in the room and we appreciated the chocolate wafer that was left everyday. The location is great, about a 5 minute walk from the harbour. Linda served us a wonderful breakfast each morning. Would definitely recommend.
