  • The lodge was a perfect place to stay for my girlfriend and I over a long weekend - has everything you could need and is well located for exploring the forest. Was much bigger than we expected and Lynne, Shauna and Nigel were great hosts - providing us with everything we needed for a lovely weekend. Would highly recommend!

  • A beautiful, well maintained lodge situated within the peaceful woodland. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery to explore and cosy pubs to fill your bellies. I took my wife here as a birthday treat and she adored every moment spent in and out of the lodge. We will most definitely be looking at coming back in the summer and would very much like to recommend this wonderful lodge and its brilliant owners.

  • The lodge is incredible! We had an amazing few nights there. It was clean, warm and cozy. The fire and projector made the cold evenings good. You have amazing walks on the doorstep and local pubs near by.

  • Amazing, lovely, cosy lodge ! It’s everything you could want and more, perfect for a country get away. Log burner and projector screen were definitely highlights, feels like a real home away from home. Hosts were extremely friendly with quick replies.

  • Beautiful warm and cozy home away from home. Welcomed by Lynee and Nigel from the first moment and amazing communication and guidance of the local area and places to go. And Shauna took very good care of our aches and pains! Fresh eggs from the chickens and the wood burner was so perfect to keeping us warm. Thank you so much and we look forward to returning for another adventure :)

    Steve2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We were so impressed with the property. Clean, lovely decor, cosy. The little touches of having milk, butter and jam in the fridge made all the difference. Along with bread, tea, coffee and sugar. The host Ruth, was so welcoming and gave us a great local walking route suggestion which we really enjoyed. We also had dinner at the Green Dragon just up the road, typical pub grub, but perfect for a simple meal before heading back for a chilled night in.

    Laura2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The place is great with very nice views and a very modern apartment to stay in. Also very nice hosts who have good amenities of equipment In the place

    Marcus2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was perfect for an overnight stay near Salisbury. The coachhouse is beautifully decked out. There was bread butter jam and milk left for us which was most helpful as we were there for just one night. The only thing I would say is if you like nice coffee there is a Magimix coffee machine but no pods only instant coffee so bring your own!

    Frances2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth was fantastic at making our stay special! She provided butter, tea, milk, coffee and bread etc which was a nice little touch upon check in after a long drive. The place was the most perfect little cottage with amazing views and so much land around. There were two ponies right next to us which Ruth said we could feed apples and carrots, this was nice as we are animal lovers! Ruth messaged mid trip to make sure we were enjoying our stay and that there was nothing we needed. It was lovely to feel like if we needed anything we could call Ruth but also really nice to just be given the key and left to get on with our stay. We came for some peace, quiet and relaxation and that is exactly what we got! It felt like our own plot of land for a few days and I can only imagine how perfect this place would be in the summer months with the outside courtyard with tables and chairs etc!! Thank you again Ruth!!

    Joe2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to chill, private but not to far from the local amenities! Would highly recommend if you needed a place to stay in the Salisbury area!

    David2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We needed somewhere comfortable to stay and Ruth’s place didn’t disappoint. Everything is as described. The place is super clean. Really nice touches including milk, butter, loaf of bread, jam, tea and coffee. Both beds very comfortable including lovely pillows. Towels provided are nice and fluffy. Super spot, lovely and quiet. I thoroughly recommend.

    James2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our short but sweet stay here. The grounds are lovely and the space was clean and bright. The kitchen was great for what we needed it for with plenty of crockery. Bed big and comfy, with fresh towels at the foot. Ruth greeted us with her dog when checking in and directed us to a parking space beside the house. Thank you!

Our converted coach house offers a cosy corner in the busy village of Downton from which to visit the historic cathedral city of Salisbury and the open spaces of the New Forest. Parts of the property date back to 1475 with links to the Bishops of Winchester. There is plenty on offer in and around the village, with local shops, gardens, pubs, walks and bicycle rides along the River Avon. Bournemouth beaches are not far away. We welcome dogs but do have a pet charge of £20 for their stay.
There are stairs up to the double bedroom mezzanine, and there is additional accommodation for another adult and child with the full size single bed (doubles up as an extra sofa) and a pull-out single bed underneath. This is a single bed on a wooden base which can stay out and is comfortable. We can also provide a travel cot with bedding, stair gates and a high chair for those with a toddler. We must make you aware of the various STAIRS in the property if you are bringing a crawling baby or toddler.
The pub next door serves good pub food, and has a small cosy bar with lots of atmosphere - perfect for a pint of the local ale. The village of Downton has easy access to local shops and amenities, such as a Co-Op, a local butcher, and an award-winning café. The public gardens, the "Downton Moot" a Norman motte and Bailey and landscaped gardens are just around the corner. The River Avon winds its way through the village.
  • The accommodation is perfect and furnished with great attention to detail. We felt very comfortable. Pennie is a really great host. We would come back anytime and can only recommend it!

    Andy2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, cosy, coach house in a wonderful surrounding but still close to everything you might need. The loft bedroom makes the house feel so open while the fireplace makes it so warm and inviting. The kitchen had everything you might need and the fresh sourdough bread went down a treat! Penny is wonderful and kept in contact and if we needed anything she was right there, and gave us some brilliant recommendations for things to do and see in the area. All in all this was one of the most wonderful breaks we have had in a long time and we can’t wait to come back!

    Yevaan2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed with our two dogs lots of great walks lovely village the coachhouse even better then pictures ,garden really safe for dogs. All the little extra bits was a lovely gesture. Pennie is a great host, very quick response apon arrival. Very cosy cottage, loved the log burner. Will definitely look to come back

    Lewis2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a lovely space, clean, homely and comfortable. Pennie was so welcoming and gave lots of information on local walks. Great location would definitely return!

    Stacey2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We booked to stay with Pennie for a long weekend in the New Forest, and were very lucky to take advantage of a late cancellation to do so. Had no idea how lucky we were though until now!! Pennie's cottage is a beautiful home, with such a large number of little touches that give a clue as to the type of person the host is. We arrived with Pennie coming out to meet us, who had provided breakfast for the whole weekend, along with all the tea, coffee and firewood we'd need. She even gave us some home-made cinnamon buns halfway through our stay! The pub next door does great food, and great service, and the location is perfect for those with or without cars to explore the New Forest and surrounding areas (can recommend an evening in Salisbury). Pennie also on hand with lots of expert local tips, but I don't see any reason why a night-in, with the patio garden or fireside sofa wouldn't be a good shout too. We' d love to come back to see the place in the summer, but our trip in British February was a raging success, and that's saying something!! P.S. As a tip: Pennie's quite right that Google Maps and her address don't mix. But the Wooden Spoon was a great way for us to Sat Nav our way accurately to the cottage!

    Richard2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely quaint coach house. You have your own parking literally next to the front door so great for unloading the car. A pub next door that does good food and also you weren’t disturb from any noise from the pub. A lovely enclosed garden for our dog to run around. We enjoyed the wood burner and we found the lounge and bedroom lovely and warm but we did find the kitchen and bathroom a bit chilly. We did have cold, wet weather though. All in all it’s a great place and good location for exploring. We would like to go back in better weather.

    Joanne2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 2 night stay at Pennie’s. Perfect for a girls weekend away with enough space for the 3 of us and our dog. The sweet living area and fire was perfect for a girly catchup weekend and Pennie had lots of great tips for places to walk in the local area. Would be a fab location for a romantic weekend away. Thanks Pennie!

    Emma2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We have just arrived home after a weekend at Pennie and Hamish’s idyllic cottage with walled garden. This place was a great find for myself, partner and collie Sid we could not fault it, even down to the fantastic garden for the dog and the extra special touches on arrival (bread, juice, eggs and homemade cinnamon swirls!) Pennie was fantastic to deal with pre stay and over the weekend a great communicator and every suggestion greatly received we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The food recommendations were brilliant and the village of Downton has everything you need for a getaway. The cottage is clean and cosy and the bed very comfortable. Every hint and tip worked down to the heating etc we were warm and cosy throughout and felt completely at ease in the cottage. We will definitely be back for another relaxing weekend 😁

The Barn is a beautifully restored cottage in the New Forest. You will love staying here for a romantic getaway or for a relaxing holiday for two. Cosy up in front of the fire after enjoying long walks or cycle rides in the Forest or visiting one of the quaint Forest villages. If you do not fancy heading out for dinner, you can enjoy cooking in the spacious kitchen. You will love the beautiful mezzanine bedroom, which is accessed by a stunning spiral staircase, and the luxury bathroom.
Nestled in the ancient North Ridge of The New Forest National Park, The Barn at High Forest Cottages provides a peaceful hideway to relax and enjoy the unique beauty of the forest. Situated within the forest boundary, inside the cattle grid areas, our regular visitors include the famous ponies and cattle that make the forest such a stunning wildlife environment. Whilst deer are a rare sight, we often welcome a small herd into the paddocks, to enjoy some free grazing! The Barn has been beautifully restored to provide an open plan living area with a mezzanine bedroom and bathroom, which is accessed by a stunning spiral staircase. The Barn has underfloor heating throughout and a cosy wood burning stove for chilly evenings. The kitchen is well-equipped with a sink, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, electric hob and oven. Dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, cleaning products, dish cloths and tea towels are provided. Milk, coffee, tea and sugar are provided on arrival. The living area has a two seater sofa, a tv and blu-ray player. Some books and games are provided for guests use. There is a wood burning stove for those chilly evenings, with wood provided for you. The bedroom has a comfortable double bed with hotel quality linen. The bedroom leads to a well sized ensuite bathroom with fluffy towels and plenty of space for wash bags. Outside is a private patio with outside lighting where you can relax in the sun. There is a private parking space available for guests.
We would love to welcome you to our piece of paradise. We have both given up successful careers in London since our twin boys were born in 2013. We moved to the New Forest at the end of 2014 and just love welcoming guests to our beautiful holiday cottages at High Forest Cottages. We have five cottages in total and welcome larger family or friend groups wishing to use multiple cottages for a special event or annual holiday together. We are pretty much in the middle of nowhere, with only a small holding as neighbours. Cross the road and you will find open heathland, forested areas, small rivers and plenty of wildlife. There are lovely paths to explore for an early evening stroll or a proper hike. You can bring your bikes or hire them locally and explore the extensive off road cycle network in the Forest. Road cycling is very popular too and there are regular races held. There are plenty of pubs nearby which serve good food and serve good beer. There is a little village shop 2 miles away, and bigger supermarkets a little further away. You are more than welcome to get online shopping delivered after your arrival.
  • Amazing place! Very cosy, underfloor heating and wood burner. Clean and gorgeous interior, too. Stunning walks from the doorstep. 100% would recommend and hopefully visit again!

    Marie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z

  • It is at least as cosy as the pictures make it look. If you are looking but unsure, then here is a little nudge. I highly recommend it.

    Joshua2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the Old Barn and had a fabulous few days exploring the New Forest. It's clearly obvious that Astrid and Mark have ploughed a lot of time, thought and effort into renovating the accommodation they offer. It is extremely comfortable with amazing facilities, and the wood burner was just the icing on the cake each evening when returning on the dark evenings.

  • This is a great barn conversion, cosy, with a comfortable bed. The en-suite bathroom is modern and the whole barn flows nicely as one connected space. Outside are great walks and Mark and Astrid were very welcoming. A great stay!

    Milly2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a stunning location.... totally away from everywhere. Ideal place to relax. Was lovely to be able to see the livestock up close and 'adopt' 3 dogs and a kitten for a few hours! The Shepherds Hut was beautiful furnished and equipped.

    Nicola2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great accommodation in a lovely setting. So private and relaxing (exactly what we wanted). We were even allowed to check out late on our last day as no guests were booked in that day :-)

  • Had a wonderful stay at Shepherds Pye, perfect location for walks with the dog and really cosy! Claire is a very tentative host!

  • Shepherds hut is lovely and cosy and was very warm! Had everything you needed for a relaxing break. Lots of privacy as your on your own on the lake so excellent if your looking for peace and quiet. Would highly recommend staying here :)

    Georgina2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I really enjoyed staying here. It's a really cosy little place which has been insulated so well that it warms up in no time with the heater on and retains the heat all night. Very peaceful. Highly recommended for people wanting to get away from the city.

    Rachel2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a fantastic stay in the Shepherds hut! As soon as we got there we were met by Rob who was super friendly and very helpful in showing us everything. The hut was beautiful, very picturesque sitting by the lake. Everything was finished and decorated to a high standard and was super cosy in the cold when we stayed! The added element of the swimming and sauna was ideal. Great location for exploring the New Forest as its easily within a 5-10 minute drive. Although no WiFi in the hut, we didn't miss it as there was plenty of dvds to keep us occupied. Would definitely stay here again!

    Ben2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was a real tranquil escape. Beautiful location, very peaceful. Shepard’s hut has been well thought out and every inch of space was utilised. Really lovely stay, thank you.

This beautiful bed and breakfast is on the edge of the New Forest. A perfect retreat for those wanting a relaxing, peaceful getaway but also a great location for an active, healthy holiday with a host of opportunities on the door step. The lodge is set in the garden of a lovely family home, it is surrounded by fields and private woodland. You will have the entire lodge to yourselves. Tea, coffee and a delicious continental breakfast is provided for you to enjoy at your leisure.
The lodge is in the garden of our family home, which is now much quieter as the children have all grown up! It has a beautiful west facing aspect overlooking the garden and the fields beyond. Once inside, the space is totally your own as the building is not shared with anyone else. The bedroom has a very comfortable superking bed which can be made up as twin beds if requested. The room is very light and airy, with a vaulted, beamed ceiling and windows overlooking the garden. There is an en-suite toilet and separate bathroom with an over-bath shower. The sitting room has a table, chairs and a sofa which transforms into a sofa-bed, so can accommodate an extra adult or two children; the lodge would be small for 4 adults. It also has a separate toilet just off the sitting room. There is a kitchenette area where you will find crockery, glasses and cutlery as well as a fridge, good size oven, microwave, slow cooker, kettle, toaster, and a dishwasher to save any washing up! There is also a Nespresso machine for those who like coffee and variety of essential provisions. The space is great for cooking pre-prepared meals, preparing salads and snacks but really not suitable for cooking a full meal from scratch. There is Wifi and a TV with a DVD player. A selection of DVDs are also available. Outside, there is a patio with table and chairs for you to enjoy and a chiminea if you would like to make a fire. We also have a track leading a 2 acre wood which we are delighted for you to explore. There is ample parking for your car and a locked shed if you would like to store your bicycles in overnight. There are numerous restaurants and pubs in the area which offer delicious lunches and evening meals.
The beautiful New Forest is a 5 minute drive providing miles of fantastic walking, cycling and horse riding. We provide maps which show cycle routes, best pubs for pub lunches and where local cycle hire is available. We are also situated just off the Avon Valley Path. Further afield, Salisbury is 20 minutes away, where you can visit Salisbury Cathedral, Mompesson House and the museums in the Close, as well as Wilton House. A short hop further north gets you to Stonehenge. To the south lies Bournemouth and Christchurch, with many beautiful beaches which can be reached in about half an hour. Further afield there are Mottisfont House and gardens, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Bucklers Hard. Details of local attractions in and around our area are provided.
  • Karen is a very thoughtful host. It was a pretty and peaceful place to stay with a very comfortable bed, we slept well. Will stay again!

    Patricia2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Karen is a fantastic host, she really makes you feel welcome and the property is so cosy, exactly what we needed. We brought along some pre-cooked meals and found everything we needed in the kitchen for our stay, breakfast was lovely - especially that home made yogurt! Location is fantastic, lots to do nearby. Our toddler loved exploring the on site woodland and trying all the swings. Karen's communication was brilliant throughout, she kept in touch via messages to check we had what we needed without interrupting our holiday and popped out for a chat as we were on our way out.

    Katie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z

Coronavirus update. I understand that there is a lot of uncertainty at the moment. I want to reassure any guests coming to stay that they can choose whether to see me or not, I will not be offended. The cottage is always sparkling clean but I am taking extra precautions to ensure that all surfaces, including door handles etc, are disinfected between each booking. Guests have exclusive use of the wing, with access to their own front door, which leads to the breakfast room. Upstairs are the two bedrooms, bathroom and separate shower room along the landing. During the summer months guests can sit outside on the patio. If you're looking to escape from the madness and enjoy long and healthy walks in glorious countryside, then this is the place to go!
Stable Cottage is located on a quiet lane with easy access to beautiful countryside for walking and cycling. We are less than five minutes walk to Downton Leisure Centre which offers pay as you go access with indoor and outdoor tennis courts, fitness and yoga classes. The village of Downton is a ten minute walk with a an excellent cafe (The Borough Cafe) and several local pubs, offering classic pub food. Salisbury is a fifteen minute drive from Stable Cottage.
  • We stayed at Stable Cottage for two nights on our tour of the south of England and we had a great time. It is a lovely old cottage with all the modern comforts. Great beds, great shower and bath and very good Wi-Fi reception in every room. Emma spoiled us rotten with all her homemade food. Brownies, freshly baked bread, marmalade, granola and much more. We ordered a meal from her one night and ate the most wonderful steak and ale pie with apple/blackberry crumble and custard as dessert. After a long day it was so wonderful to have great food waiting for us! There are lots of great sites nearby. Stonehenge, Old Sarum, Osbourne House, Mottisfont and New Forest. Go here and be pampered by Emma. We cannot recommend this place enough!

  • We visit from Scotland and usually check into a hotel, but find the experience stressful. Staying here it felt like a relaxing holiday. We felt so spoilt. We had our own garage, garden and conservatory. It was well stocked with lovely welcoming touches. The dogs certainly loved the comforts and the space. We couldn’t have asked for more and can’t wait for our next visit. Thank you to everybody for our stay.

The cottage is close to Salisbury, and yet set in the middle of rural countryside, with walks on the doorstep. It is 1/4 of a mile from the nearest neighbours. There is a large friendly kitchen, with rayburn in the winter to keep it cosy, and whilst sitting at the kitchen table, having tea/coffee/beer/wine/breakfast/supper you will see wildlife: pheasants, rabbits, hares, deer, and of course bird-life. And sitting room with log fire.
Apart from your own bedroom, you are welcome to be in the kitchen whenever you wish, and that is where I hope you feel free to help yourselves/make yourselves tea and coffee, whenever you wish. There is also the sitting room with open log fire. However, please note that this bedroom, with two single beds, has zilch storage space. There is a small cabinet between the beds. Plus one small table, a chair and an old fashioned shaving mirror, with has a stand with a circular "shelf", with a round mirror above it, so I guess it would be good for make-up. The only space for storage, is maybe to put your suitcases under the beds. There is a double hook on the back of the door for coat-hangers. Also, although I hope I will be here to welcome you, there is a very small outside chance that I may be away, in which case, you will be welcomed by my son, or another hostess, to make sure you feel totally at home.
  • A very e notable stay with Sue, she was a great host. Would definitely stay again.

    Kimberley2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing find! Set in beautiful rural surroundings with deer and wild life in abundance but only a 10 minute drive from Salisbury or Downton. Quintessential England! Log fire, beautiful garden, cosy cottage ,comfy beds (with hot water bottles too!) and the amazing warmth of Susan's welcome . Having the use of Sues kitchen for cooking too was a real bonus, with the warmth of the Rayburn and dear Bella and Sootsie , made it feel like I had come home! And I could sit in front of the log fire in the living room in the evenings! I couldn't recommend more highly and am already planning my next trip back! Thankyou Susan ,for everything! You are a wonderful host!

Located on the northern side of The New Forest, The Old Bakery has stood for over 160 years. Legend has it that it was originally intended to serve as a public house but, unable to acquire a licence, the house was put up for auction by the owner's estate at the King's Head Inn, in 1860 for the grand sum of £100. Since then it has served as a drapers, a grocers, a general store, a garage and a bakery. Situated up a bridleway, it provides a peaceful retreat, a short walk from local amenities.
Located in the village of Redlynch, the main house has undergone significant renovation works in the last three years, part of which was to completely reconstruct the annex; turning it from a vehicle workshop into guest accommodation. Completed in 2017 the annex was constructed to the latest building standards and is completely self-contained with separate heating and hot water systems. Alongside radiators, the air-conditioning unit provides heating in the winter as well as cooling in the summer months. Totalling around 50 square metres, it was designed to be a light and airy space, with French doors giving access to its own terrace on the west side of the property. Perfect for couples or 2 persons sharing for a relaxing break in the peace and tranquillity of the New Forest!
Redlynch is a small village to the North of the New Forest served by a public house, The Kings Head Inn, the local store/Post Office, a chinese, a curry house and playground all of which are in walking distance of the house. Further North is the larger village of Downton providing additional services including a garage, pharmacy, tennis club, small supermarket and a selection of public houses. The medieval city of Salisbury is just a 15 minute drive, steeped in history, there is always plenty to see and do. Driving south of the village you can reach the coast in 40 minutes. The coastline offers an abundance of sandy beaches and water sports, as well as the ferry to the Isle of Wight.

  • My husband and I had a lovely last minute break here and found it very relaxing. Lovely little place, well designed and clean. We especially loved the beautiful wooden doors. A great quiet base for exploring from. The weather was pretty bad so it was nice to have some where warm and comfortable to come back to. Thanks for a lovely stay Steve and Sarah. X

    Elizabeth2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a nice private getaway this Annex is perfect! The entire guest suite is self contained for your private use. It's spacious and cosy with access to the garden which is nice. We had a lovely break here and used to local recommend Chinese for a cute night in! We liked being able to self check in using the lock box. We are definitely coming back here. It was just perfect. Thank you.

    Amy2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • A nice spacious annex with everything you need. Beautiful village

    Theresa2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Annex impressed us in absolutely every way. Steve and Sarah were very conscientious hosts, sending us information about the address, parking arrangements, and self check-in well in advance of our arrival. This turned out to be a lifesaver as we had zero cell service when we arrived. Happily, our hosts had prepared an amazing welcome packet with wifi code, instructions on how to operate anything you could desire to use in the annex (combo microwave, induction hob, TV, fancy radio, electric shower) as well as the lovely history of the home, tips on nearby local eateries, and plenty of advice on walks to be had in the New Forest. What stood out most about the Old Bakery Annex is how every choice made by Steve and Sarah were clearly planned out with their guests comfort and relaxation in mind. The bed and pillows were amazingly comfortable, the kitchenette was perfect and they provided extra touches like a bit of milk, tea, cooking oil, salt and pepper, the blinds were cordless, there was a draught excluder by the door, the towels were 100% cotton. The level of care they have for their little airbnb is very clear and our only regret about our visit was how short it was. We highly recommend the Annex to any couple or single travelers looking to explore the area.

You’ll love my place because of the cosiness and cleanliness of the cottage, the prettiness and charm of Whiteparish village with its Post Office and shop which sells hot drinks and delicious fresh food, and the closeness to the New Forest, the historic cities of Salisbury and Winchester and the lovely country town of Romsey. Southampton and the seaside town of Bournemouth are also within a 30 minute drive. There is everything to see and do all within a short drive or bus ride.
I have recently renovated the cottage since moving there in September last year. I have recently had an en-suite shower room put into my bedroom so the main bathroom is solely for the use of guests. The room is light and airy, especially in the morning and the bed is very comfortable. There is also a hospitality tray with a kettle and a DVD player with the TV. I also have a very friendly Labrador dog so guests will need to be pet friendly.
The neighourhood of Whiteparish is full of charm and very friendly. There is a Post Office and a shop which sells delicious hot food and drinks and local cakes and there is a children's play park for the little ones at the end of Dean Lane by the Parish Church. The historic cities of Salisbury and Winchester are very nearby, and the New Forest is on the doorstep with all it has to offer and explore and many pubs and places to eat and drink.

  • Great place to stay. Right i the forest with a great local pub just 10 mins walk away. Great walks litterally on the doorstep and yes the homemade cake was lovely too. Karens a great host with lots of local tips.

    Steven2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • I went to Karen's place for three nights with my golden retriever, Honey. Karen had left some tea bags, coffee, sugar and milk and a homemade walnut cake, which was so thoughtful. The cottage was just the right size for us and I always felt safe and secure there. Although it wasn’t cold in the cottage, I put the electric blanket on before I went to bed and I felt so snugly, just lovely after a day out walking with Honey. The village of Woodgreen is small, with lovely, friendly people. There’s a shop which sells local produce and most things you’d need and a pub which has a very good, not too expensive menu. Also I had some tasty fish and chips from a mobile van which parks up outside the shop late afternoon on a Saturday. Karen and Richard were very good hosts and I really enjoyed talking to both of them. I knew where they were if I needed them but they also let me have the peace and quiet I love so much when I stay in the New Forest. It was a lovely stay, thank you very much Karen and Richard!

A comfortable private Annex with a large double bedroom, your own parking place and a private entrance and courtyard to sit outside. • Great airbnb! The annex is much bigger than it seems in the picture. Great location to explore the nearby New Forest. It is the perfect retreat to enjoy the English countryside and explore the South Coast of England with easy access to Salisbury, Southampton and Bournemouth. Ideal for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers or those simply looking for a relaxing stay.
The Stable Barn dates back to the 17th century and is a property with charm and comfort, complete with original character beams. The entrance leads to an open plan living, dining and kitchen space with central heating, wifi, TV and DVD player, DAB radio, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer and oven. There is a shower room and toilet. Upstairs is the bedroom with double bed complete with an ensuite toilet. There are plenty of drawers and a fitted wardrobe. There is a separate door opening out to your own patio garden area (benefiting from the sun all afternoon) with an outdoor table, chairs and parasol.
Downton is a village on the River Avon, 6 miles southeast of the City of Salisbury and is situated just outside of the New Forest National Park. It is a thriving community having its own schools, shops, pubs and businesses, village hall and recreation areas including a football pitch, bowling green and leisure centre with a gym and tennis courts. The annual Downton Cuckoo Fair takes place in May and has been running for over a quarter of a century. It is a free event which attracts around 20,000 visitors with over 250 craft stalls, live music, dance and entertainment for the whole family. The village is also well known for its fishing, its award winning local brewery and as a centre for exploring the River Avon and New Forest.
  • Incredible place to stay, on the door of the new forest which meant we could get around to places we had wanted with a short drive. Storm Dennis hampered plans on Saturday but we just stayed in and the property was a home from home

  • Great place to explore the New Forest. Would come back. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

    Carolyn2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • We booked Laura's place to escape the city for a few days and it was a perfect base to explore the New Forest for the first time. The location is excellent, place was very clean and we felt cosy and comfortable. I'd happily recommend and come back myself. Thank you :)

Beautifully renovated rooms for a comfortable break in the New Forest with direct access on to the open forest. Great for dog walking or just a yomp to the pub. Perfectly situated for visits to the Cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester, quaint New Forest towns such as Lyndhurst and Lymington and historic sites such as Stonehenge. This is a working small holding with cows, chickens, Guinea fowl and horses. The paddocks lead to a wood and stream where you can relax in the shepherds hut.
Cosy, tastefully decorated rooms, designed for a relaxing break. Newly installed bathroom with a large walk in shower. A king size bed and a large comfy sofa. Completely self contained with good WiFi connection and cooking facilities too, should you want to cook!
We never tire of walking out of our back gate on to the open forest. Whatever the season, weather or time of day it is magical. The animals and bird life are ever changing and you can create your own mini safari just walking to the pub! There are some great pubs within walking distance. The nearest is Rockingham Arms, Wellow (I would recommend booking a table if you like the look of it) which is about 20 minutes from the back gate across the forest. Then there is The Lamb, Nomansland and The Royal Oak, Fritham. These are a bit further but well worth the effort!
  • Very cosy, good communication from the host and info on local pubs/things to do. We had a great time staying here.

    Denise2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I + dog had a wonderful stay. Lovely property, well equipped, beautifully furnished and there were even some Christmas decorations which were a nice touch. Underfloor heating kept it nice and warm the whole time. Check-in was straightforward and Liz and her husband were on-hand to give recommendations, though mostly left us to it. Excellent walks from the front door (wellies were very much required when we went) or a short drive away.

    Will2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • The annex is great for a weekend in the forest. The animals at the property and out the back gate are truly magical. Bed is super comfy and the space has everything you need. Will be back in the summer! Thanks Liz!

    Samantha2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • What you receive here is a complete package. The accommodation is beautiful and wonderfully cosy. The surrounding forests and little villages are ideal for a getaway from the hustle and bustle. Richard and Liz add tremendous value with their assistance and generosity. Tremendous value for money, we will certainly be back again.

A modest bungalow in a beautiful village just 5 minute walk from the cattle grids of the new forest, where the infamous ponies can regularly be seen. There are 2 comfortable bedrooms, one double, one twin, and kitchen diner. The garden is extensive and dog friendly, and backs on to local woodland, where you can often spot the cuckoo and the woodpecker. Woodfalls has all the amenities you need, lovely pub, well stocked shop and bus routes through the forest and to Salisbury.
Woodfalls has a social club, beautiful playing area for children that includes football pitches, basket ball nets and typical park play area's. There's a local shop and post office, a Chinese and Indian takeaway, a kebab shop. Downton has more amenities including cashpoint and service station. Neighboring villages of Whiteparish, Landford and brook all offer much to go and explore.
  • For us the location was ideal & the dog friendly factor was a big plus. Would definitely stay again if in the area

    Steven2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely idyllic bungalow in a delightful quiet village. Rachel has thought of everything down to the ketchup and sauces! Even though it was winter we and the dog enjoyed the garden too. House takes a while to heat up but then you have to turn to thermostats down otherwise it gets too hot. One of the major advantages of this house is NO WIFI!! Enjoy spending time talking to each other instead of the kids with their noses glued to their phones and tablets!! Highly recommended.

    Shlomo2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice bungalow in a quiet area. Great for dog walking in the new forest. Plenty of room in the bungalow. Really nice place to stay.

    Chris2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were out and about exploring the new forest for most of our stay but Rachels bungalow was a great basecamp to come back to, had everything we needed. Good communication as well, Thank you!

  • Situated right on the edge of the lovely New Forest, and with excellent access to other local towns and amenities eg Downton and Salisbury, this super dog-friendly bungalow was perfect for our Autumn week away with our beloved German Shepherd Skyla. Morning walks were easily accomplished in the local Tinney’s Woods, and every day we went somewhere different in and around the New Forest, for lovely walks and mooching around the likes of Burley, Lymington, Fordingbridge, Mudeford and Christchurch. Cosy and comfortable - all we could wish for!

    Andy2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for exploring the New Forest, with the accommodation providing everything we needed for our stay.

    Lorraine2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here with 3 friends and we had a great couple of nights away - the location is perfect for exploring the forest and a short drive from a co-op for bits and pieces :) loads of lovely touches and such a peaceful area - just what was needed! Rachel was really helpful with recommended places to visit and super speedy at responding to questions! Would definitely recommend :)

  • We stayed while visiting nearby Paulton’s with our two small children. The property is located only 20 minutes away, next to a nature reserve with lots of wild horses, ponies and donkeys! This was a gorgeous cottage with fantastic amenities, comfortable beds and very clean throughout. There was a large selection of adult and kids films on DVD and games for all ages. The breakfast was outstanding! As well as cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, juice, warm pastries and homemade muffins, there was a menu of food cooked to order. We choose the pancakes which were delicious. Our host even made the kids some duck and bunny shaped ones which they adored! A lovely property and a fantastic host. We only wish we could’ve stayed longer!

  • Could not fault our stay here. Sarah was a great host, friendly and helpful. The lodge is well equipped and appointed to a high standard with good quality fittings and very comfy bed. Sarah adds several touches to make you feel welcome, for example milk and water in the fridge, tea, coffee and a log fire ready to light. We would not hesitate to return.

  • Wonderful house in an amazing location. Would definitely come back to stay again!

  • Beautiful, clean, very well equipped and cosy property with a lovely host. We felt very welcome. It was in a nice location, in lovely countryside but also close to local village amenities. It might however be difficult to get around if you do not have a car.

    Felicity2018-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very Cosy cottage with all the necessary amenities. Great bedding quality, we appreciated the travel cot and the high chair for our son. The kitchen is fully equipped with baking tools so this can come handy. Sarah prepared the place very nicely and filled the fridge with the basics for the breakfast. That was a wonderful surprise.

  • This is a really lovely place to stay. Small and quaint but cosy, it has central heating for the colder evenings, a cute outdoor seating area with a chiminea and just generally really sweet. It's about a 25 minute walk to the nearest drinking hole (Cuckoo Inn) which is a really beautiful ye olde pub - cash only fyi. If youd rather stay in, the host, Rich, has left some board games to use as well as access to Netflix, Apple TV, Now TV and loads of other streaming apps. I'd come and stay here again easily. Thanks for your help Rich!

This is a custom built shepherds hut, positioned in our private woodland with direct access on to the open forest. It can be warm and cosy with a log fire in the woodburner, or open the stable door to let the outside in. Alternatively sit outside on the wooden decking with a fire pit in the evenings. There is a 'camp kitchen' with a gas barbecue, fridge, butler sink and covered seating area, or walk to one of our local pubs for lunch or supper. There is an outside tap and electricity on site.
The hut is amazingly cosy with a wood burning stove and an electric blanket in winter, it is beautifully furnished and sited in a patch of private woodland. There is electricity to the hut, a mains water tap, an outside decking area with seating, also a fire pit for the evenings. We have built a camp kitchen with a gas barbecue and lit covered dining area. You have the use of a bathroom in our house complete with a waterfall shower and there is a outside privy in the wood. You will be living with nature literally on your doorstep. Deer are regular visitors, a badger trots through the wood most evenings and our cows and horses in the next door field are always interested in what you are up to!
You never tire of walking out on to the New Forest. It is always beautiful, whatever the season or weather. Not only is there the breathtaking scenery, but there are always animals and birds to watch in their natural habitat. There are some great pubs within walking distance. • What a truly special place this little piece of land is. The hut and space has all the amenities you could ever need to really relax and get away from it all. The outdoor shower is fabulous and the sheltered kitchen area was great for cooking and sitting around the fire pit. We recommend a visit to the closest pub, the food and service is amazing! Wouldn't want to give too much away, but the walk we took through the back gate was magical and for any fossil hunters, Barton on Sea is a great beach with lots to find. A big thanks to Liz and Richard, they made us so welcome along with their beautiful dogs, horses and very friendly cows.

    Kerry2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Liz’s place was exactly what we had hoped for. Peaceful idyllic hideaway with animals and birds on your doorstep. The cows and horses to wake up too each morning in the next field. The new forest is on your doorstep so beautiful walks without needing your car if you don’t want to drive. Lovely little pubs within walking distance too. The accommodation is romantic with lovely little touches especially the fire. We had a lovely fire outside too and was absolutely magical. Liz and her husband were great hosts and made us very welcome. We will return Thankyou

Local walks from the house can take you across farmland, past in banks of snowdrops and daffodils in spring and bright yellow fields of rape in summer. There are some great walks a short car journey away, often with a pub nearby eg 'The Drift Inn' at Beaulieu Road. Cycle hire is available for New Forest rides. The tea shop at Breamore House serves amazing scones and tasty lunches. Only open certain days eg Sunday as the (Tudor) House holds weddings on Fridays and Saturdays. (Closed in winter.) 'The Shed' café at Courtens Garden Centre on the road to Whiteparish has good food, amazing variety of hot chocolate, and a huge, clear-glass wood burner with sofa for relaxing. The Lavender Tea rooms on A36 worth a visit in season. Manual for guests gives suggestions for shops, eating out and places to visit. I'll happily describe my favourites though!
  • Great stay, very spacious, comfortable bed, friendly host to greet us.

  • We were really thrilled to find the property, as we needed to do a bit of work and visit friends and the area. Everything was so very thoughtful and the kitchen brilliantly equipped. Superb working spaces which is rather rare. We did make time to get into the New Forest, Salisbury, Romsey and Southampton as the property is well located. A fabulous stay.

    Lucy2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay at this beautiful barn. Super cosy and lovely comfy bed. We had a great time and it was an easy base for exploring and local pubs. Thank you!

  • Had an amazing stay at the barn! Catherine was very welcoming and helpful and the space and surrounding area are gorgeous. Highly recommend.

  • The barn is very quiet and relaxing and the location is perfect for that. The host has every thing you need for a short stay. We highly recommend Catherine,s Barn to future guests.

  • Great host. Nice quiet location and fantastic place to stay. Good walks in the local area and base for exploring the New Forest. We had a brilliant weekend.

    Paul2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet and lovely place. I liked my stay at the Barn. There is even a piano in the Barn.

    Marc2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit and, as before, everything was perfect. Catherine is a wonderful host, and communications are always smooth and clear. The 'barn' is just wonderful, with a lovely green outlook and a bedroom on the mezzanine that offers another great perspective. The space, which is bright and sunny, has two comfortable sofas one can really stretch out on, with the bean bag seats for outdoors a versatile option in good weather. There's so much to do in the area (we have a special fondness for Romsey Abbey) and with the New Forest on the doorstep, it's an ideal location for a relaxing break.

  • A fantastic self contained apartment in a quiet, rural setting just 5 minutes drive from the New Forest. The apartment overlooks fields where you may see deer grazing and on an evening you will probably hear the owls that are in the surrounding trees. Ann is a wonderful host who goes out of her way to ensure that everything is ok even suppling home baked cake and biscuits.

Situated in the ancient perambulation of the New Forest which can be accessed nearby at Plaitford Common. The farm dates from pre-1066 with a scheduled ancient monument - a Saxon moat - sitting in the front meadow. As well as the nearby New Forest and Test Valley villages with roaming New Forest ponies cattle and pigs, Romsey, Stockbridge, Salisbury, Winchester and Southampton are all within 30 minutes.
  • My husband, 3 year old daughter and I have just returned from a wonderful stay at Hilary's cottage. The cottage is in a fantastic location on a working farm and is in an ideal location for Peppa Pig World which was about a 10 minute drive away. It was very cosy with a great selection of toys available for our toddler to use and the views were just stunning. The bed was also extremely comfortable. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here. Thank you.

    Clare2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We really had a lovely stay here. The house and garden is amazing and to have chickens roaming around was the icing on the cake. Our toddler loves animals so was in heaven as there is everything from horses, pigs, chickens, dogs and cats on the farm. The house is very cosy and has a proper farm cottage feel with a lovely big bed and a lovely big bath! Make sure you ask Hilary if she has any fennel salami for sale... It's delicious!

    Chris2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit with our toddler and loved it just as much! The cottage is lovely and spacious with lots to delight kids and adults alike. We loved the real fire, aga and roll-top bath while our toddler was entranced by the rocking horse indoors and real horses just a few steps outside the front door! It's also really convenient for peppa pig world, Longdown activity farm and new forest pony spotting. We've already had to promise our toddler a third trip next year!

    Leonie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • I was blown away by the home from home feel in this property. Open fire, spotless, toys for the children, chicken and horses in the garden and the Arga. The bathroom and shower we're sensational and the comfort of the beds were indescribable. Phenomenal

    Ashley2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous house in a great location. The house has everything you could need and more. Hilary is very knowledgable about the area and offers good friendly advice. We would definitely return.

    Debbie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time we have booked and cannot wait to book again, a lovely and charming cottage in a great location with a great host

    Simon2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great space to escape to. I adored the noises of the guinea fowl and chickens clucking about. The house is cosy and tidy and has a particularly awesome shower and comfy (huge!) bed. Hilary was extremely welcoming and very hospitable. It was a great space to hide away for a bit with easy access to a great (though very very muddy!) walk and easy for the New Forest. You were right about the Aga Hilary. Very easy to use, super cosy and extremely efficient for drying wet socks! A great space for some time away from it all (but with modern touches). Thank you x

    Jane2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay. A home away from home in the most stunning location. Everything had been thought of; from bath toys for the baby, to logs, matches and kindling ready and waiting for the fire, the hospitality and entire cottage was amazing and we had an amazing stay. Hilary is friendly, welcoming and the option to explore the farm and the animals is an added bonus. A stunning, luxury cottage with all you could need for a family stay, with those thoughtful homely touches that make life that little but easier - thank you!

  • Excellent stay. The accommodations at top notch and the hospitality is even better. Perfect place for a relaxing time to explore the New Forest. Jo and Philip are spectacular hosts.

  • The Cowshed is the perfect little retreat for anyone wanting to escape to the country for a few days. Not only is it beautifully renovated inside, it is surrounded by farm land and forest which can be explored and accessed by foot directly outside the entrance to the accommodation. The Kings Head pub up the road proved to be a lovely place to dine and have a few drinks of an evening, with also excellent service. As for our host Jo, she was incredibly helpful in suggesting things to do around the area and left us with lots of information regarding activities. We strongly recommend the cycle experience in Brockenhurst, in which you can cycle 15 miles around the New Forest, exploring the many different parts it has to offer. A truly wonderful experience, especially in the winter sun. We will most certainly be taking another trip to the Cowshed sometime in the near future!

    Simon2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is as fabulous as described in the reviews. Very comfortable indeed, stylish, cozy yet spacious, quiet, well equipped and very clean. Beautiful surroundings, great local pubs and garden centres (current obsession). We had a lovely time even with storm Dennis doing it's worst! The hosts are very friendly and available if needed, yet leave you be. A perfect retreat, we look forward to visiting again in the summer to experience breakfast in the secluded garden and the walk the New Forest.

  • The cowshed is a perfect stay for a short or long weekend away from the city. It’s beautifully decorated inside and we felt very much at home from entering. Jo was very quick with her responses and a lovely host. Thanks so much!

My place is close to Salisbury . You’ll love my place because of the beautiful walks and village location. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. Has the benefit of a private sitting room and use of the owners pool in summer. On 3 floors.
  • This place is just amazing. The location is quiet and peaceful. Our room was big enough to fit 3 people and we also had a lounge area to ourselves. Suzy was really lovely and accomadating - we felt right at home.

  • The gracious owner Suzy kindly waited for us to arrive despite us arriving rather late to the area of residence. She was very cordial and friendly while showing us around the house, while providing clear and distinct directions. The house is spacious, extremely clean and immaculate. As for breakfast, we had a plethora of options to choose from- be it various types of cereal, bread and milk. It was a sumptuous spread indeed and we are incredibly grateful for the pleasant experience we had. We highly recommend Suzy’s Air BnB to anyone else looking for a kind and hospitable host as well as comfortable and pleasant living quarters.

Beautiful well equipped wooden lodge in the National Park, it has lovely views and is set in 2 acres of gardens and grounds.
It is a 2 storey open plan lodge, with continental breakfast provided. The Lodge is situated in the grounds of Croft Cottage, Godshill. It is a very well insulated oak framed wooden lodge, heated in cold weather by oil filled electric radiators or convectors in every room. It overlooks the cottage orchard on the western side and the vegetable plot and paddock on the northern side and has private parking for 2 cars. There is a bbq area for your own personal use outside the lodge and also a wendy house and a small adventure playground. In the paddock there is a small football goal, badminton and volleyball net and table tennis table.
Godshill is a small village on the North Western edge of the New Forest National Park. It is about 30 minutes drive from the beaches of the south coast and Bournemouth, the historic City of Salisbury with its Cathedral and Southampton with its popular shops. The children love Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park only 20 minutes drive and The New Forest Water Park is 15 minutes away and has water sports for children and adults.
  • Wow just wow. We had the most amazing stay. Bill was so kind letting my son feed the alpacas each morning and collecting the chickens eggs. My son didn’t want to leave. The house is spotless and the little extras like the breakfast and milk etc was a nice surprise. The bath is out of this world. It is so safe and a drive to so many beautiful spots. We drove to the George pub on the first night just 5 mins down the road and had an amazing dinner. So on our last night got a take away from there too! The kids play area at the site is so safe and you can see the kids playing from the kitchen. The property is very secure and so warm. The weather didn’t defeat us! Thank you for such a great stay. You won’t be disappointed staying here!! We have made memories we will remember forever. If you have kids then go ape is a must!

    Sophie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Helen and Bill were wonderful hosts who we would highly recommended staying with, especially if you have children. Their accommodation was spotless and had everything you need inside. There is a fully kitted out kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The fridge freezer was sparkling clean and held supplies for a continental breakfast each morning with bread in the freezer. We went in February and the lodge was very warm thanks to good insulation and heaters. Every morning Bill would be outside tending to their chickens and three Alpacas and would invite our boys (who are six and two) to help feed them and collect any eggs from the hen’s coup. The alpacas are wonderful animals and both the boys enjoyed feeding them by hand. There is a large field to play games in next door and also a climbing frame, swing and Wendy house right next to the lodge. Just around the corner is Sandy Balls holiday park which has a small play area, swimming pool, restaurant and arcades. There is a small shop and a free soft play area for any rainy days! Check in and out was very easy, Bill rang me a couple of days beforehand to answer any questions we had and we arrived to find a bottle of red wine and birthday card for my wife, the reason for our stay, which was a lovely touch. The lodge has its own gate and parking right next to it so you don’t feel like you’re intruding or being overlooked. My wife was a big fan of the jacuzzi bath! All in all this was the perfect base for us in the New Forest. It’s within 30 mins of Salisbury, Bournemouth and the seaside and has plenty of stunning walks nearby. We had a wonderful stay at the lodge and will likely return again in the near future.

    Danny2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful lodge which is great for families. Our hosts, Helen and Bill, were lovely. Feeding the alpacas in the morning was great fun. We also got the chance to feed the chickens and collect their freshly laid eggs. We all had such a great time and can’t thank Helen and Bill enough. Would highly recommend to others.

  • The lodge is the perfect family escape, Bill and Helen were excellent hosts and we hope to return soon.

  • What a beautiful place to stay! My children adored it and didn’t want to come home. They got to feed the alpacas in the morning and enjoyed playing in the gardens. Really lovely place to stay

  • The Lodge was an absolute dream. Helen and Bill were both so pleasant and easy to communicate with and they made our stay wonderful. The Lodge was clean, comfortable, very well equipped, and very spacious. A continental breakfast was provided along with fresh eggs from the chickens which was delightful! It was such a treat for our toddler to play in the garden and help feed the alpacas and pet the friendly pups. The location is stunning situated in The New Forest and very near to Fordingbridge. It was a completely idyllic stay and we would be delighted to come back and stay again should we find ourselves in the area!

If you wish to walk the Avon Valley way we are happy to drop you off and pick you up to help you the enjoy the entire route.
  • Jo and Malvin are wonderful hosts - warm, relaxed and super friendly. The bedroom was beautiful - clean and cosy - just what we needed after a whole day in the forest. They made us a delicious breakfast and gave some tips on places to explore. I can only recommend this place!

  • Jo and Melvin are two of the kindest people with one of the loveliest homes in one of the most romantic villages I've had the pleasure of experiencing! I'd highly recommend Downton for its scenic and historic richness, as well as drivable distance to Salisbury and Bournemouth. The bedroom they have to offer is lovely from a good quality mattress to the smaller touches such as cookies and cake for your tea left in your room every day. Last but definitely not least, Jo and Melvin are 2 of the kindest people I, and I'm sure you will have had the pleasure of meeting, their hospitality and welcoming attitude to what are complete strangers is nothing less of what we should all strive to be. The place is beautiful, clean and you will experience the most lovely hosts possible. I couldn't recommend that you stay with Jo and Melvin strongly enough!

    Marcu2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • We can’t say enough about our stay with Jo and Malvin. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left they made us truly feel welcome. The room offered so much more than we expected everything was perfect and the attention to detail was amazing. Rummy their gorgeous dog was so delightful to have around we actually miss them all already. The room was so clean and cosy and Jo and Malvin as hosts made the whole experience even more special. The location was perfect with New Forest and River Avon practically on the doorstep. Ask Jo and Malvin about the viewpoints you won’t be disappointed. We will definitely return and highly recommend to all our friends, family and anyone who is thinking of going to visit New Forest. Thank you both again for an amazing weekend.

Lovely little fire in the living space and there were even enough kitchen amenities for us to make a Sunday roast. A wonderful winter getaway for my sisters and I and we would not hesitate to come back. Thank you Tina!

The house is fully furnished, tastefully decorated and fully equipped with all mod cons to make your stay restful and relaxing.
Downton has the ancient Moot Gardens literally on your doorstep, many beautiful local walks, a number of great local pubs for eating and drinking and a supermarket, pharmacy and fish and chip shop a few minutes walk away.
  • Great place to stay in Downton. Thanks for everything.

  • We had a good stay in the cottage. Nicely decorated and great location in the village, within a few minutes of the national park. Also, fabulous pub directly opposite with good food and beer!

  • We had a lovely stay in Adam’s cottage. It’s in a great location for walks and there’s some nice pubs and restaurants nearby. The cottage itself is cosy and warm, with a nice bathroom and great usable fireplace. We all slept well, the beds were comfortable and it was quiet at night. We would definitely return if we were ever in the area again!

  • Great location and communication from owner. Lovely old property. Comfortable lounge and bedrooms. Downsides for us were no TV and lack of facilities to use log burner (ie no fire tongues or things to clean ash from grate) so not useable really.

  • This lovely little cottage in Downton was perfect for our trip. It’s bigger than it looks in the pictures & has everything you could need whilst away from home. The location is perfect, a great little village, plus it’s just outside the new forest & only a 20 minute drive from Paultons park (which is where we were headed). Adam was great with communication, and even gave us a few tips and recommendations about the local area. Would definitely book this place again, if we were to return to this part of the UK.
