Kid-friendly holiday rentals in South Portland

This is a very nice renovated barn. It is clean, well appointed with comfortable beds and nice outdoor sitting area. It is on a very busy road so you will hear road noise but it quiets down dramatically before 8 PM. The soaking tub is to die for. It is suitable for two people (for you romantics). The hosts do warn that filling it will deplete the hot water, but we found that a half full tub was sufficient.

We stayed at Kathleen’s charming place in and had a wonderful experience. The space had everything we needed and was also perfect for my husband and me to work remotely. I worked from the second bedroom with the daybed, while my husband set up downstairs. The location is within walking distance to everything, and Kathleen gave us some great local recommendations. We’d love to stay again!

We stayed a few days at Michael's place and it was perfect for our family of 4. The bedrooms were all very comfortable and the A/C units worked great. The kitchen was well stocked for our cooking needs and it and the bathrooms were very clean. The neighborhood the house is in is very quiet and peaceful...and we LOVED that it was just 3/4 mile from the trail around Mackworth Island State Park. We would definitely recommend this place to others looking for a peaceful home in the Portland area.

Diana’s house was lovely and very comfortable. My family and I had a wonderful time exploring the area and being on the beach! Diana responded quickly whenever I had a question. I definitely stay there again. I highly recommend her house.

Great place, good location, excellent host!

I wanted a peaceful place by the water to unwind and Maggie’s home nailed it. Every aspect of our stay exceeded expectations. The deck views were amazing—islands, ospreys hunting, and a duck and her ducklings feeding along the shoreline. At low tide we poked around in the sand at the bottom of the rocks, and could have easily walked out to the center of the bay but it was juuuust a bit chilly for us. Easy to drive, park and walk along beach on the Atlantic side and explore. We didn’t have time to kayak but hope to be back to give it a go. So much beauty and nature, but with all the amenities that make it easy to relax. Maggie was responsive, and she and her family obviously care very much for the property. Check the propane BEFORE you plan to grill :), and bring flip flops to easily get from the house to the grotto (which was so comfy and cozy) and back again.

The upstairs apartment was perfect for our stay in Portland. It’s clean, cozy, and a great location. We really enjoyed our stay and recommend it.

Rhonda’s house was so charming with its many decorations from the 1940s, 1950s. It felt very cozy and completely comfortable there for the five of us. The grands loved the loft with the toys, and we adults appreciated the awesome shower and towel filled bathroom. So nice! Very comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, easy to get into entrance, porch a nice place to relax. Great AC, too. Beautifully clean and tidy. Very close to downtown Portland for all of the going’s on and super restaurants. We would definitely stay again.

"Extraordinary Architectural Masterpiece" pretty much sums up the apartment. Nice open spaces with elegant lighting and design touches throughout. Lots of windows ensured it was bright and offered great views of the city (often made possible by an abundance of parking lots close by - this is a good thing!). We were able to walk to a number of great restaurants, none of which were more than 10 minutes on foot. Likewise, the ferry to Peaks Island is an easy walk (and worth the trip, particularly if you rent a bike which is super easy). Alice was super responsive when I reached out with questions and updates on timing. So all good and glad we stayed there!

Susan’s place was very charming and peaceful. Tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood but walkable to coffee shops and downtown area. Our stay was extremely seamless and comfortable, would highly recommend :)

We had a wonderful stay at Tom’s apartment. It is unquestionably a five-star rental. It is clean and comfortable with many amenities and the location is perfect with restaurants, venues and attractions only a 5-20 minute walk away. Check in, check out and parking instructions were very clear and easy to follow. Tom also provided a printed guide book with details for the apartment as well as suggestions for things to do and see in Portland which was very helpful and appreciated. We highly recommend and hope to be back soon to do some more exploring!

Great stay! Location is perfect for everything we wanted to do, be by the water, stay right next to downtown, and a short walk from our tour with Eco Adventures. Furniture was very comfortable and everything was clean. Great restaurants in the area. Would return back!

A perfect stay. The accommodation is superbly located and you can easily explore Portland on foot. There are many restaurants, etc. nearby, the selection is great. Sharon and Eric were perfect hosts and we felt completely comfortable. The accommodation is very clean and has everything you need. The private parking space is also a big plus. Thank you Sharon & Eric for a great stay and for making us feel at home. We will be back!

Exactly what we were looking for. Completed our Maine trip perfectly was close to everything we wanted to go do and see I would highly recommend

The apartment was exactly as shown in the photos. The neighborhood was so cute and it was walkable to downtown. The off street parking was also so convenient as Portland can be tricky when it comes to finding parking. I would stay here again!

What a wonderful place to stay! Let’s start with location. The location is just perfect. You’re walking distance to all the great restaurants, shops, & the wharf. Truly didn’t really even need to rent a car. The space was clean, on the smaller side but for my husband & myself, it was perfect. Had everything you needed in it. Only downside is if you do rent a car, parking is pretty bad. But it’s also right in town, so that’s to be expected. We parked in the parking garage, but it gets pricey after a while. Overall, 10/10 would highly recommend, & if we ever come back to Portland, we’d stay here again In a heartbeat!

Great stay

Perfect location right in the middle of all the popular restaurants and shops. Very clean and more spacious than we expected. Complex was quite inside. We didn’t hear noise from the other condos. We were there on a Saturday night so we could hear some of the nearby bars and music but that was to be expected given the location.

Beautiful, spacious and bright house, with everything you need to be comfortable and explore Portland. At one point we had a problem with the fire alarm and Allyson not only answered in minutes, but also told us how to fix the problem and left us extra batteries so it wouldn't happen again. Don't hesitate to stay at Allyson's, not only is it the ideal accommodation for a family, but Allyson was the best host. Thank you very much!

Wonderful little spot very close to the beach. Plenty of places to walk to from the location as well as a short drive to Old Orchard Beach. Would come back in a heartbeat!

The Baxter Suite was perfect for our weekend stay with 4 people. Thomas was a great host- very responsive and accommodating. The apartment is beautiful and very clean. The bathroom is gorgeous and beds were so comfy. One note is that the only mirror is in the bathroom and there is no full length mirror (not a huge issue but a small struggle with 4 women trying to get ready at the same time lol). The free parking spot was very nice to have but there was also plenty of street parking available. Overall Thomas’s place had everything we needed and we would stay here again!

We had a great first stay in Portland. Carl was very helpful, accommodating late checkouts and a clogged sink! The apartment was comfortable for a family traveling - walkable to just about anything you'd need. I would absolutely recommend!
