We have an excellent stay on the lake. Beautiful views and in a quieter area away from crowds!

This home is incredible. The view is stunning. But it is a decent hike up to the house. If you come by ferry it would take 30 mins from terminal to get to the home with many steps. Very challenging with a heavy suitcase. If you come by car it will take approximately 10-15 mins. Lots of stairs. Pack light if you’re able to. The home itself is over 3 levels by a spiral staircase. Bring light luggage if possible. The deck is so nice to spend time on. Lovely, memorable home with a friendly helpful host. Will never forget this beautiful place

Die Wohnung ist sehr traditionell in einem alten Steinhaus, im wunderschönen Verzasca Tal gelegen. Der Ort ist der ideale Standpunkt, um das Tal mit der schönen Natur, aber auch Locarno und Ascona zu erkunden. Bitte beachten: der Ort ist an einem Stausee, dort kann man nicht schwimmen! Auch gibt es im Tal keine Supermärkte, Bäcker etc, Einkäufe am besten vorher erledigen. Die Wohnung selbst ist sehr sauber, die Küche voll ausgestattet, die Lage sehr ruhig. Wir waren als Familie mit 2 Kindern da und haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. (Es gibt steile Treppen im Haus, für sehr kleine Kinder nicht geeignet). Insgesamt sehr zu empfehlen!

From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the unbeatable location of this home. Being directly on the lake, the views are nothing short of magical. Waking up in the morning and looking out over the water from the bedroom felt like something out of a dream — peaceful, serene, and impossibly beautiful. The lake was quite literally at our doorstep. The home itself was spotless, thoughtfully decorated, and full of charm. Every little detail was taken care of, and we felt instantly at ease. A special shoutout to our host, who went above and beyond when we realized last minute that we had forgotten to include our mother-in-law as a guest. It was entirely our oversight, and yet the host was kind, understanding, and incredibly accommodating. That kind of graciousness makes all the difference when you’re traveling. We can’t say enough good things about this place — the comfort, the views, the hospitality. If you’re lucky enough to find availability here, book it. Can’t wait to return

Un réel coup de cœur pour cette maison perchée sur les hauteurs avec une vue imprenable sur le lac majeur, le tout dans un cadre paisible et privilégié. Nous avons été ravi de notre séjour, tout y est : le confort , l’espace , la vue , les équipements, tout ce dont vous avez besoin est présent . Nous n’avons pas vu notre hôte mais nous pouvions facilement communiquer avec lui . C’est avec plaisir que nous reviendrons dans ce petit havre de paix .

The view of lake Lugano from the balcony is very amazing. AC is also very helpful during our stay in extreme heat. I changed my previously planned Airbnb to it due to the heat we will encounter. Great place.

Difficult to access but worth it as the place is well designed, very quiet and private. The outdoor area is very enjoyable. Great place for a quiet stay.

Trotz schlechten Wetters haben wir eine sehr entspannte Woche in diesem sehr idyllisch gelegenen gemütlichen Haus verbracht. Das Haus ist sorgfältig renoviert und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Die Lage ist einmalig: ganz allein auf einer Lichtung im Wald. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Absolutely wonderful stay and amazing host. The apartment was exactly as described and the views and location were perfect. We loved sitting on the balcony, looking over the water and watching and hearing the people below. There are 2 wine bars just outside the door and also many restaurants. Alberto picked us up at the station and explained the apartment and area. Giorgio’s kindness was immeasurable. The trains had unexpectedly stopped running and he personally booked our transportation back to Milan and drove us to meet a new express bus. We could have never done this without him, as this was unpublished at the time. What a wonderful man! Varenna is a beautiful small village and there are many outstanding restaurants and things to do. Our highlight was taking a cooking class with Chef Marco, Chef’s Table, and later dining at his new restaurant, La Scarpetta. We recommend visiting the villas in town, taking the Taxi Boat to Villa Balbianello and hiking to the waterfall in Fiumelatte.

Wir haben fünf wunderbare Tage im 2. Stock der Villa Smith verbracht. Die Räume sind groß, die Betten sind gemütlich, die Küche bestens ausgestattet. Alles tiptop sauber, dazu beruhigendes Rauschen vom kleinen Bach nebenan, der Garten ein Traum (Schaukeln, PingPong und Boccia inmitten eines verwunschenen Idylls). Auf der großen Terrasse zu frühstücken und dabei auf den Lago Maggiore oder in die Berge zu blicken, war einfach wunderbar. Zudem war Claudio innerhalb kürzester Zeit für Fragen erreichbar, hat uns tolle Tipps für den Aufenthalt gegeben und war ein großartiger Gastgeber. Am liebsten würden wir in die Villa einziehen - da das nicht geht, werden wir zumindest für einen Urlaub gern wiederkommen.

We are returning guests to House of Alma, and we returned for a reason! This airbnb is a hidden gem, in the perfect location of Lake Como, ideal for reaching surrounding areas by boat, foot, car and bus letting you explore this amazing place. Sala Comacina is a quieter town away from the tourist crowds but you are never far from the action. The accommodation has everything you need (with garage if needed), giving you impeccable views of the lake (so close you can see the fish) I will miss sitting, relaxing on the balcony. Next door is a picture perfect restaurant with stunning cuisine, a must if visiting, also other great eateries in the area or close by in neighbouring towns. Great communication throughout, we were met by Anna again who is always helpful and contactable if there are any problems. Highly recommend!! Thank you Tom & Tabitha

Wir waren zu viert in Evas Appartement und hatten einen rundum tollen Aufenthalt! Die Wohnung war sehr sauber, gut ausgestattet und gemütlich eingerichtet – ideal für unseren Kurztrip. Besonders praktisch war die Kaffeemaschine mit Kapseln, perfekt für den Start in den Tag. Eva war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Sie hat uns tolle Tipps für die Umgebung gegeben und war bei Fragen jederzeit erreichbar. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Klare Empfehlung!

Smještaj je bio jako ugodan, čist i predivno rustikalno uređen. Kuća se nalazi na mirnoj lokaciji s divnim pogledom na jezero, a upute koje smo dobili su nam omogućile da dođemo do nje bez problema. Također, u smještaju su nas dočekala svježa jaja, sok, slatkiši, pjenušac i drugi pokloni, što je vrlo lijepo i pohvalno. Svaka preporuka za ovaj smještaj ako želite miran i ugodan odmor, mi smo se osjećali kao kod kuće.

Excellent location with unbelievable views. We really enjoyed our stay!

Four of us stayed here for only a couple days and were incredibly impressed by the spectacular view of the lake and the surroundings. It looked like out of a travel magazine. The unit itself was quite nice with total upgrades everywhere which were in top condition. If you are driving yourself up the hill to the home be prepared for some fun driving adventures on twisting turning curves that are somewhat narrow. We always had a driver. We could see that it takes some experience to get good at it.

Es war einfach perfekt! Der Blick ist atemberaubend, die Ausstattung war unglaublich gut und alles war super sauber. Alles ist ordentlich und perfekt vorbereitet. Man spürt die Liebe des Gastgebers in in jedem Details. Wir können diese Unterkunft nur empfehlen und kommen gerne wieder! Herzlichen Dank für alles.

4 Erwachsene, 2 Kinder und 2 Hunde hatten eine wundervolle Zeit in Barbaras Haus. Besonderes Highlight war der riesige Swimmingpool. Auch der Pizzaofen in der geräumigen Küche und der Grill wurden gerne genutzt. Räumlichkeiten und Ausstattung waren top. Die Lage auf dem Berg, mitten im Wald mit riesiger Rasenfläche -also angenehmem Luftaustausch bei schwülem Wetter am Lago- ist schon unique. Schöne Spaziergänge im Wald, mit reichlichem Sichtkontakt zu Rehen, Hirschen und Wildschweinen, sind möglich. Da nimmt man gerne auch die kurvenreiche Fahrt runter nach Stresa in Kauf. Barbara selbst, aber auch die guten Geister Malu mit Lebensgefährten, machten uns den Aufenthalt zudem äußerst angenehm. Summa summarum ist dieses Urlaubsdomizil ohne Einschränkungen zu empfehlen. Wir hoffen auf den nächsten Aufenthalt dort.

This is a beautiful apartment in a prime location that has a parking spot, but you don't need a car. The apartment is a very short walk to the lake ferry service, the town square and a C10 bus stop. You can walk to Menaggio Piazza Roma Bus station in under 10 minutes if you want to take the bus to Lugano, Switzerland. The apartment is beautiful, with historic decor and modern conveniences and a lovely terrace. You can hear some street noises, but the apartment is very private. Roxana is very easy to communicate with. Thank you Roxana! We enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful apartment with a great privat garden, perfect for morning coffees and relaxation. It took only few minutes to walk down to Menaggio's restaurants and shops and it was easy to visit the near by cities by the ferry. Loved our stay, hope to come back some day.

My only regret is that we can’t give 6 stars on the evaluation and that since we want to come back it hurts me to advertise it to others!! Frankly, a part from the place which is a little jewel, the calmness of the surroundings, the spectacular lake Como, what we appreciated the most is the kindness and proactivity of our hosts. They truly embody the ideal concept of what Airbnb should always be. Thanks to the whole family

Wonderful private and gorgeous retreat high up on the hillside. RENT A CAR. We did, but only last minute and initially had planned to uber to and from the Airbnb both for arrival and departure as well as just day trips; this would have been a mistake, it is 12-14 minutes up the hill from the town. If you have a rental car and are comfortable driving up steep roads, it is a fun adventure and the views make it well worth the trek. The space itself is second to none. Gorgeous pool with million dollar views, several levels of terraces with sun chairs, outdoor eating areas, and the home itself is inviting and comfortable.

This place is truly magical—just as beautifully presented as described. From the moment we arrived, Paula greeted us with such warmth and friendliness, instantly making us feel at home. We loved swimming in the lake right in front of the property—such a rare and peaceful treat. The privacy was perfect, allowing us to fully unwind and enjoy the surroundings. The kitchen was excellently equipped, which made cooking a pleasure, and we enjoyed every meal out on the stunning patio. The bedrooms were very comfortable, and with the high temperatures during our stay, we were especially grateful for the air conditioning. We wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful retreat and would love to return someday.
