A-Frame Hale Nene with Hot Tub

AlexandruRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
The only thing that made me uncomfortable was the shower drain button. Water kept accumulating, and I had to keep pressing the button constantly to let it drain. But that’s an easy fix. Everything else was absolutely 5 stars—thank you so much for hosting!

Cozy jungle 2-bedroom cabin

EthanRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Very unique experience. You are actually right in a jungle. With that you have some animals, insects, and noise. We had a small mishap with the ceiling when we first arrived but the hosts quickly took care of it and upgraded our rooms. The jungle rooms are a bit louder at night with the frogs and smaller compared to the other sites in the facility. Overall cool place and great hosts

Tropical Spa Getaway Cabin 2

ColtonRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
5 STARS 5 STARS 5 STARS!!! My girlfriend and I went here for our 1 year anniversary and it was pure bliss. Far enough away from the city so you can have your own peace and comfort but close enough to drive wherever on the island. We loved the solitude of the location and the soothing sounds of rain, frogs, and birds surrounding the place. This place is a gem! To add, Malie was very responsive before, during, and after the process! Super helpful with great suggestions and clear instructions. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay and experience!

Digital Detox, Body-Positive Eco Retreat Center #2

Molly JeanRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We are so happy we discovered this hidden gem and will definitely be returning! It was the most incredible place we have stayed on the big islands: a perfect mixture between luxurious and natural! The pool front bungalows are pristine, comfortable and clean and are on an amazing pool deck which is like a huge tree house built in and around a vast forest of endemic Ohia trees! The pool deck features a pool, hot tub, rain showers, clean bathrooms, shared kitchen and a lounge area with many tranquil areas to relax and enjoy the forest. Drinking my morning tea in the hot tub, I saw several native birds flying among the Ohia trees! I highly recommend this place for people of all ages! My children loved it and enjoyed the freedom of not having to wear swim suits! Hosts were responsive and flexible and very accommodating!

NEW!Off-Grid Cabin w/ALL U Need 8min 2 Beaches&MOR

MatthewRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
An off grid location in a peaceful and natural island setting with beautiful kitchen and bathroom. Only 10 minutes from either beautiful sites on the south coast or shops and provisions in Pahoa. Our boys loved the separate bunk building with two beds. Our group of five used alot of water but we only ran out one time. We let the host know and a refill was promptly ordered and waiting for us upon our return from the days activities. If you need communications, an AT&T network phone worked for us..(Pre-paid phones can be found at Walmart) Our group used alot of power, but the solar/battery system kept up well concidering. A group with reasonable power needs should have no problems with power availability. If you rely on a CPAP or simular device, a backup battery may be advisable to avoid interuption. Note that the nearby black sand beach is very beautiful but is a "Clothing Optional" beach. This place is at at the top of my list if I return to the east side of the Big Island.

Majestic tree garden cabin with outdoor kitchen

RobertoRating, 5 stars2 months ago
I had a great stay at Ben and Katherine's property. The photos do not do it justice - it's tucked in the forest farms yet not far from the main road. The outside is lit up at night with plenty of solar lights through the evening and plenty of lighting inside as well. The cabin has EVERYTHING. Hot water, electricity, BBQ grill, a nice big sink by the grill for dishes and pans. The bathroom was super cool! Although it's open air, it does have two walls and a ceiling but the open area faces away from the road and into the forest for privacy. In the afternoon you can shower in the sunlight. Their son does an excellent job with the upkeep and the details throughout make you feel right at home. Communication was excellent and they were very responsive. If you want a quiet place to wind down to and wake up to close to volcano or even Hilo, this is it! I highly recommend and I look forward to coming back 😎

Milo # 1 Orchard Mini-Cabin for 1

ClaireRating, 5 stars109 months ago
Kirpal is a fantastic place, with a real community vibe. I'd highly recommend it as a place to getaway and embrace your mind, body, soul and connect with new people and the environment. It's off the beaten track, so having a car is preferable. Take advantage of the yoga classes and vegan meals, they are fantastic. Befriend the other guests and workers, they'll become your family after a few days. Make sure you ask before eating the fruit from the orchard, some isn't safe/ready.

Off-Grid Lava Cabin Retreat

JuliaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Beautiful location at what feels like the end of the world. We slept well and enjoyed both the sounds of nature and the beautiful and unique surroundings. While there are plenty of neighbors in the community, everyone seems to keep to themselves. It was extremely quiet and enjoyable. The firepit in the pictures is not operable, which we found out after booking and really the only downfall for an otherwise great stay. A rental vehicle is required to get there and we were grateful to have rented an SUV. Highly recommended as the roads are rock/gravel with some small hills and quite the drive, but the closest town is about 15 minutes and will have anything else you need. Bring drinking water! The pictures do the cabin justice; it is open air but well maintained, comfortable, and worth the stay. Overall very good experience!

Studio Ohana Cabin Retreat

MarjorieRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Holly's place was exactly as described. The photos do not do it justice. Sitting on the patio at night in the hot tub or next to the beautiful firepit was extremely relaxing looking out to the tropical forest listening to the coquis exceeded all expectations. I also picked up several fantastic ideas for our upcoming home in the same area. Their home was beautiful and extremely well built and planned.

Makoa Kabin

RuthRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This place was one of my favorite Airbnb stays! The host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The space was secluded and peaceful with great amenities - gas stove, refrigerator and freezer, stainless steel cookware, plenty of dishes and utensils, etc. Everything to make it a perfect home away from home! We loved the bathroom setup as well. And the anthuriums were the biggest I've ever seen! We'll definitely visit again and stay multiple nights :)

Historic Home Close to Volcanoes National Park!

WhitneyRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We moved around a few times on this trip, but this was our favorite place that we stayed. Everything was very clean and well stocked. We felt right at home. I was feeling a bit nervous at the last minute about not having a/c, but that was not an issue at all. I was surprised with how much cooler it was in that side of the island. This was a great little area with everything we needed near by and plenty of character. I loved the history of the house!

Hawaiian Treehouse Cabin

TysonRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This was a great place to get away from it all. A little strange taking a shower under the house but we got used to it. It’s 30 min from Hilo so if you are wanting to go there daily it can be quite a drive. Overall super happy with the rental

Kilauea Cabin

TedRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Great location next to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. You can walk about 1.5 miles and be standing on the rim of an active volcano or take a 5-minute or so drive to park and walk to the various viewpoints along the rim. Watching the birds on the deck was a definite plus. If you wake up around sunrise - don't bring an alarm clock. The roosters in the area will tell you when the sun starts to rise. The Wi-Fi/internet connection was slow and at times spotty. We were still able to do a little work (usually work a few days during our stays in vacation rentals). If it's not raining around sunset, try to get a clear view of Mauna Loa and you will be able to see almost the full volcano and an amazing sunset. Speaking of Mauna Loa, highly recommend taking the winding Mauna Loa road to its end. It's only 11.5 miles but about 3/4th of that distance is either 25 mph or 15 mph - so it takes about 45 minutes. Stop and walk around the various Kapuki along the way - well worth it!

Kamaka Cabin- A rainforest retreat near Natl. Park

MoniqueRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Kamaka Cabin was a comfortable and brilliantly located place to stay. We enjoyed its spaciousness and appreciated it's cleanliness. We also appreciated the prompt communication when we asked a question. We were a bit surprised by the proximity to others. When we arrived 5 other cars/trucks were in the shared driveway and the gorgeous lanai looks directly on the other rental (cottage) and water tank.

Charming log home on 2 acre rainforest property

CaraRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Beautiful and unique spot. Would definitely recommend to anyone (singles or families) looking to stay in the area. Louise has provided so many thoughtful touches - great music, great books, comfy beds, sunscreen and bug spray, and fun extras like all the fixings for s’mores (which my kids loved!). During our stay, we got to pet bunnies and chickens, see geckos and flora, swing peacefully in the gorgeous jungle setting, and shower outside. To me, the absolute best definition of Hawaiian glamping and would make any antique/boho/nature lover delirious with joy.

Log cabin (5/3) near beautiful Waipi'o Valley

MaisyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This was the perfect place for my sister’s wedding weekend! There was enough room for the wedding party to get ready without the bride and groom seeing each other so that was perfect. The caretaker, Doug, was so so nice and he made the entire weekend that much better. Everyone loved talking to him. An overall great place!

Delightful cottage tucked away from everything - but not too far to get too sights. 25 minutes or so to Hilo, less than an hour to Volcanoes National Park, etc. Cottage is quiet, clean, private with a great outdoor shower and good star gazing. Go to sleep listening to the coqui frogs and wake up to birdsong. We really enjoyed our stay here!

Artistic Cabin In the Forest

MikoRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Bill and Anzu were such lovely hosts and their cabin and tropical setting is beautiful. The cabin had everything we needed and then some. Bill and Anzu provided thorough directions but because it’s off the beaten path, we recommend dropping a pin so you can easily find your way back (after dark especially). We enjoyed having breakfast on the linai with all of the adorable the geckos. Our daughter loved sleeping in the cozy loft! Falling asleep to the sounds of the frogs and rain was lovely. Bill made sure we had local recommendations on where to go and what to do. Thank you so much for the great stay!
