Kid-friendly holiday rentals in South Kona

Minh is truly a super host, attentive to detail and to her guests’ needs. She will make you feel at home from the moment you step into her beautifully decorated and fully equipped home. Communication is important to feel relaxed while on vacations. Minh was permanently in touch with us, making sure we were feeling comfortable. When we had problems with the water heater and the ice maker, she fixed them in no time. She even contacted a friend of hers to provide us with ice for our cooler. This friend also gave us fresh eggs from her hens. It was so nice to experience the hospitality of the people in the Big Island! The view of the sunset from the balcony is a piece of art. Her immaculate garden is a treasure. The beautiful color of bamboo in her furniture complements the colors of the sun and brings out the warmth of the house. Minh’s quaint home and hospitality brought peace, joy, and rest to our lives! We came back home renewed. Mahalo, from the bottom of our hearts!

Wow. What a spectacular place. A true eco-jungle-lodge-type experience. The location, the home, the host's communication and aloha spirit - everything was fantastic. Highly recommend 4WD / AWD car for the driveway, although we made it work with a sedan (kind of comical, actually). We are an adventurous family of four adults (2 grown kids) that likes experiences and lodging that would be the opposite of a cruise ship or resort. This place was perfect for us. We will be back!

Marilyn's place is flawless. My husband and I have been booking places through airbnb for a while and this was definitely the best one ever. I am very picky with cleanliness, and this place was spotless. Craig the home caretaker made sure to gave us all the information we needed, show us around, besides being super nice and friendly. The view from this tiny house was incredible, the place was exactly like the pictures, comfortable and had everything we needed. Marilyn's hospitality was amazing. She left us fresh fruit from her garden and a delicious cake on the fridge for when we arrived. Both Craig and Marilyn made us feel welcomed and made our experience perfect. We hope to come back someday.

Incredible place! Beautiful gardens. Walking distance to beach. Great location for day trips. Jill has an amazing attention to detail and the spacious studio displays all of her artistic prowess. It's truly a sanctuary to unwind and chill out. Do yourself a favor and book it for as long as your vacation allows.

This was such a great place to stay near Volcano National Park!! Very clean, comfortable, private little cabin really!!! Super back deck- outdoor shower was awesome and hot tubing at night was very romantic!! With breakfast at the front door every morning we felt very pampered!!

Beautiful flowers outside the door. Great instructions and super easy to get to. Great location close to Volcanos National Park and restaurants in Volcano.

The Sugar Shack was a great stop on our vacation. Gary was an exceptional host and showed us all the great snorkeling areas. We were very happy with the communication and all he provided at his rental.

Wonderful rural location tucked away but not a far drive to Hilo, Volcano National Park, several beaches, farmers markets, other beautiful places to explore. The Airbnb had all needed amenities, really comfortable bed, plenty of space, games and books to read, a nice picnic table outside with a tent garage for the car so your luggage doesn’t get wet if it rains when you arrive, and even a robe and slippers which I am a sucker for - makes me feel so cozy when I am away from home! More than happy with our stay, we hope to come back!

The house was cozy and comfortable. We loved the outdoor shower & jacuzzi. Kathleen was very friendly, she explained everything in the house and gave us a warm welcome. There was fresh fruit from the garden for us every day! We would definitly recommend this place!

This location was perfect for our stay. It felt like staying in a rainforest. The backyard with fruits was beautiful. Highly recommend, also for the price is totally worth it.

Thomas’s house was great! It was clean, comfortable, and beautiful! The kitchen had everything we needed, and we loved having access to the washer and dryer. It fit our family of 5 comfortably, and we appreciated the air conditioning, snorkel gear, and boogie board. There was great snorkeling nearby, and we loved walking across the street to drink our coffee by the ocean every morning! I would definitely stay here again!

This is a great place to stay if you want to discover the Kona area. Secluded, cozy, and comfortable! It’s about 15 minutes away from a lot of snorkeling activities and 30 minutes from downtown Kona.

Suzanne’s place was located close to one of our favorite snorkeling spots - Kahalu’u Bay. It’s just a short drive away, as is the KTA Superstore. You can walk to the Outrigger hotel to watch the sunset and see manta rays drawn to the lights in the water just off shore at night.

Airbnb stay was very comfortable and amazing! The place was very clean and was at an ideal location - very close to various restaurants. Nicholas was very responsive and gave great clear instructions for check in. Just a note - there are quite a few cats on the property. Most of them keep to themselves, but a couple are extra friendly and might even follow you to your unit. It’s worth noting this isn’t Nicholas’s fault—just part of the local environment. If you’re a cat lover, you’ll probably enjoy their company! If not, just be aware. Otherwise, everything was clean, comfortable, and as described. Nicholas was a responsive and thoughtful host.

The beach gear was so much fun for our beach days, the location was great and close to pretty much everything we wanted to do on the trip, we loved our morning coffee on the lanai, and the decor was a plus, loved it all! James was a very responsive host. The location was great and the view of the ocean was amazing once you walked out to the pool and “beach” area.

place was beautiful! spacious and very well kept. location was great just a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of the strip down the road. host was responsive and helpful!

We read reviews about bugs and a bad smell, however we had no issues with either. Place felt very clean and smelled great, has all the amenities and appliances that we needed. Even had a boogie board in the closet that we could use which was fun! Overall great place, right by tons of restaurants and stores as well as the shoreline.

The condo is clean and modern with spacious and well-maintained grounds. The furnishings are comfortable and it has everything you might need. Since it's a bit remote we made extensive use of the kitchen, which is very well-equipped. The hosts sent lots of information about the volcano and even though we missed seeing an eruption they did everything they could to help increase our odds. The best thing about this place is the amazing beach in walking distance. The black sand beach is striking. We went there every morning to go snorkeling and swimming. The hosts provided beach chairs a cooler and snorkels. The waves are a bit rough so we hesitated at first but there is a line of buoys to indicate where it is safe to swim. There are *many* sea turtles! There's a marked area of the beach where they are protected. We saw them swimming every time we went in the water. There are also many beautiful fish.
