Lots of hiking opportunities both in summer and winter right outside the door. About 1 km on skis through the forest to the Skeikampen trail network. The cabin has 5 beds, plus a pull-out bed, an equipped kitchen, a heat pump, a wood-burning stove, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Bed linen and towels included. You must have a 4x4 in winter. 15 minutes to the city center and Skeikampen, 30 minutes to Lillehammer and 45 minutes to Hunderfossen.

Evening and Sunday open grocery store Mesnali 3 min. Bed linen and towels can be rented and must be pre-booked - price NOK 250/£20/€25 per set. Feel free to bring your own. Her kan man få stillhet og ro, bade, padle, besøke gruver, eller gå turer. Det er kort til høyfjell med mange turmuligheter, eller å gå ut fra gården langs vannet, på stier i skog og mark. Det er koselig uteplass med bålpanne på brygga ved naustet, og det er badestrand på andre siden. Våre gjester kan benytte våre to båter og kano fritt,og vi låner ut to fiskestenger.

Det gamle sommerfjøset til Hovelsrud Gård ligger idyllisk til mellom Mjøsa og en bølgende kornåker – et enkelt og unikt sted for den som vil komme tett på naturen og nyte roen på Helgøya. Huset passer best for et par eller en liten familie med inntil to barn. Inne er det et soverom og en åpen stue. Ute er det en kjøkkenbenk, med et gassbluss og grill, en liten strand med bademulighet og utedo. Det er ikke strøm.
