Kid-friendly holiday rentals in South Kona

Minh is truly a super host, attentive to detail and to her guests’ needs. She will make you feel at home from the moment you step into her beautifully decorated and fully equipped home. Communication is important to feel relaxed while on vacations. Minh was permanently in touch with us, making sure we were feeling comfortable. When we had problems with the water heater and the ice maker, she fixed them in no time. She even contacted a friend of hers to provide us with ice for our cooler. This friend also gave us fresh eggs from her hens. It was so nice to experience the hospitality of the people in the Big Island! The view of the sunset from the balcony is a piece of art. Her immaculate garden is a treasure. The beautiful color of bamboo in her furniture complements the colors of the sun and brings out the warmth of the house. Minh’s quaint home and hospitality brought peace, joy, and rest to our lives! We came back home renewed. Mahalo, from the bottom of our hearts!

Wow. What a spectacular place. A true eco-jungle-lodge-type experience. The location, the home, the host's communication and aloha spirit - everything was fantastic. Highly recommend 4WD / AWD car for the driveway, although we made it work with a sedan (kind of comical, actually). We are an adventurous family of four adults (2 grown kids) that likes experiences and lodging that would be the opposite of a cruise ship or resort. This place was perfect for us. We will be back!

Marilyn's place is flawless. My husband and I have been booking places through airbnb for a while and this was definitely the best one ever. I am very picky with cleanliness, and this place was spotless. Craig the home caretaker made sure to gave us all the information we needed, show us around, besides being super nice and friendly. The view from this tiny house was incredible, the place was exactly like the pictures, comfortable and had everything we needed. Marilyn's hospitality was amazing. She left us fresh fruit from her garden and a delicious cake on the fridge for when we arrived. Both Craig and Marilyn made us feel welcomed and made our experience perfect. We hope to come back someday.

We saw the pigs they are cute. The hot tub was fantastic. The kitchen was great. The house is clean and quite secluded.

Incredible place! Beautiful gardens. Walking distance to beach. Great location for day trips. Jill has an amazing attention to detail and the spacious studio displays all of her artistic prowess. It's truly a sanctuary to unwind and chill out. Do yourself a favor and book it for as long as your vacation allows.

Beautiful flowers outside the door. Great instructions and super easy to get to. Great location close to Volcanos National Park and restaurants in Volcano.

Really nice apartment. Communication went really well and Pamela and Kenzie were really friendly in providing head lamps for the night at volcano. The location is awesome. It only takes 10 minutes to go to volcano national park. It is great to relax on the veranda and in the hot tube listening to noises of the forest after an adventurous day at the national park. I would definitely recommend this apartment.

The Sugar Shack was a great stop on our vacation. Gary was an exceptional host and showed us all the great snorkeling areas. We were very happy with the communication and all he provided at his rental.

Kristin was easy to communicate with and the place was clean, easy to find and right near the national park. We had a great time and are super thankful!

The house was cozy and comfortable. We loved the outdoor shower & jacuzzi. Kathleen was very friendly, she explained everything in the house and gave us a warm welcome. There was fresh fruit from the garden for us every day! We would definitly recommend this place!

Wir haben uns in Kathys Wohnung sehr willkommen und sofort wohlgefühlt. Kathy hat an alles gedacht und wir empfinden sie als eine sehr aufmerksame und herzliche Gastgeberin, die uns einen sehr angenehmen und entspannten Aufenthalt bereitet hat. Auch die Kommunikation war unkompliziert, sie antwortet schnell und über ihre Tipps haben wir uns sehr gefreut. Für uns war Kathy ein nahezu perfektes Match.

Where to even start!? The photos do not do this stay justice. The way they set up the gardens, pond, walkway and relaxing spaces were not only beautiful, but functional as fruits and herbs were growing all around. (We bought some Abiu fruit from their stand and it was deliciousssss.) The animals are friendly and feeding the goats is a treat. At night the Coqui frogs sing you to sleep. I thought they would keep me up but it was quite relaxing. Of course Ka’Haiya has thought of everything and there were earplugs in the nightstand jic. Hint: The vibrant but tranquil comfort of her place and the thoughtfulness of this host is the gleaming theme here. It’s a great place to get away from the bustling resorts but still so close to so many amazing things Hawai’i offers. I would definitely love to stay here again as Ka’Haiya and her place made my trip as brilliantly magical as the island herself.

Suzanne’s place was located close to one of our favorite snorkeling spots - Kahalu’u Bay. It’s just a short drive away, as is the KTA Superstore. You can walk to the Outrigger hotel to watch the sunset and see manta rays drawn to the lights in the water just off shore at night.

Airbnb stay was very comfortable and amazing! The place was very clean and was at an ideal location - very close to various restaurants. Nicholas was very responsive and gave great clear instructions for check in. Just a note - there are quite a few cats on the property. Most of them keep to themselves, but a couple are extra friendly and might even follow you to your unit. It’s worth noting this isn’t Nicholas’s fault—just part of the local environment. If you’re a cat lover, you’ll probably enjoy their company! If not, just be aware. Otherwise, everything was clean, comfortable, and as described. Nicholas was a responsive and thoughtful host.

Beautiful stay. Beautiful majestic views and conveniently located close to the airport and Kona activities. The place was clean and had everything one could need. The kitchen was useful for cooking our own meals and the bed was comfortable to sleep in. I also loved seeing the little animals in the neighbors yard next door. The place had extra towels, blankets and other supplies you may need that made this place a great stay. I highly recommend.

Our stay here was perfect. Location was amazing right by the beach at a peaceful community, great for viewing sunrise/sunset. The place was just as pictured, very clean and had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

We read reviews about bugs and a bad smell, however we had no issues with either. Place felt very clean and smelled great, has all the amenities and appliances that we needed. Even had a boogie board in the closet that we could use which was fun! Overall great place, right by tons of restaurants and stores as well as the shoreline.

This place felt like home, for my husband and I was ideal ,it felt peaceful and in a perfect area where we can walk to any near stores or restaurants. People that live in that facilities around were very pleasant .Overall a great place to a vacation home.

There could not be a better spot to land! Dorothy‘s place is so close to the airport, so centrally located to town, yet somehow you feel like you’re in the middle of the jungle! The path leading to the main strip of town is so peaceful. The vibe at the pool and the hot tub was always respectful and sweet. As a solo traveler, I found this spot to feel very safe and accessible. I loved it here.
