Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. In Ohinata, Sakuho-town, Nagano-pref. We built a small cottage at a mountain side of the natural woodland which separated for a while from the colony. The time flows graceful here, while the interval of farm labor or works in the mountain. It is a special time to have Coffee or Beer while looking at Mt. Morai on the other side. You can spend time, being surrounded by nature... reading books slowly, taking a walk the mountain, listening songs of birds while lie on a hammock in the forest.

This Japanese villa and garden, covering about 6,600 square meters, is located in Arita, a town famous worldwide for its pottery. The 130-year-old Villa Kaede, originally built as a guest house by a founder of Arita Bank, has been beautifully renovated. Visitors can enjoy a garden that showcases the changing seasons. The villa also serves as a convenient base for day trips to places like Nagasaki City, Unzen, Ureshino, Sasebo, Hirado, and Huis Ten Bosch.
